    Thanks dude. This key barrel looks pretty much the same as my 1998 Toyota Granvia (Japanese import version of toyota Hi ace). The removal and replacement was exactly the same procedure for my vehicle except the first bit of plastic surround was bigger on my Granvia and had to undo 2 screws lower down.
    I had my key but was having problems turning it. I sprayed some WD40 but had no luck turning the key. I tried wiggling it, with no luck, then tried ramming the key in really quickly and attempted to turn to start position it worked after about the 20th go then carefully moved it back to the acc position. That allowed me to push the pin in. I did need to use a very small flat head screwdriver to prize the barrel out. job took about half an hour. Would not have been able to do it without this video. Thanks again.

    Dude…it’s ACC not AGG. It stands for accessory. Thanks it help me with the exact same problem. I had to use a Dremel because even a brand new drill bit wouldn’t cut that little button. I never would have thought that key alarm button had anything to do with turning the back paddle. How did you figure that out?

    If anyone also has a locked steering wheel like I did make sure to move the wheel as you turn the inner part to get it to line up with acc. Also you can put the cylinder in with no key and then insert the key to lift the tab part. Just did this on 97 Camry thanks for the video 💪🏼

    • @ThatGreyIS300
      @ThatGreyIS300 4 месяца назад

      If it locked the wheel and I already have it put back together can I go back or did I mess up?

    • @Cn3rD
      @Cn3rD 4 месяца назад

      @@ThatGreyIS300 sorry for late reply. If you mean that you got the new ignition in without having to use pliers to turn the cylinder then you can just turn your wheel like you would normally while its locked and get it started. But if you need to remove the cylinder after you got it in you you should be able to remove it with key now so you should be alright the only issue would be if you had to drill the new one out.

    Great instruction. A cobolt drill bit helps. This approach also applies when you have a key but it won’t turn any.

    Ok worked this out. Instead of doing this and wrecking your barrel most toyotas of this era have a key that fits both door lock and barrel. Way easier to remove door lock and take to locksmith and get a key cut, Then just replace lock. No damage. Pro tip. Must use drivers side door. The lock has the "master code".

      Your key may be worn down I have 6 set of keys my my 2000 Toyota Camry and 3 of them won’t work. If you get a new key made and it still has troubles starting then most likely the teeth inside your cylinder are worn down and you made to replace the cylinder like I did. A new key will come with it. Keep in mind that that key won’t lock or unlock your doors

      ACCESSORY
      ACC / ACCESSORY (ACC ON)
      The second position is the ACC/ACCESSORY position, which allows you to use your radio, windshield wipers, and other accessories while the engine is off. This position should also be used in the event that your vehicle is being pushed or towed. In this position, the engine is off.
