question 🙋♀️ my key is lost . i have no spare. can i change the ignition without the original key? and use the keys that come with the new ignition ? i hope so because in saint louis they want $350 to make me a key and even if i wanted to i am unable to come up with that kind of money . I am familiar with automotive repair growing up around 3 mechanics you pick things uo but never did this before. thank you for this video it was extremely helpful
Hi, yes you could still take the ignition out, but it s gonna take a little while, you just halfto keep on it you could use new ignition key just to engage it and press button on side until it release it, put key in , try both sides of key, and you will pull it out, don’t put too much pressure on key, you just want to get levarege , until you disengage by pressing button on side of ignition, I did it on mine.
So we can use our original key on the new ignition cylinder? I thought we had to use the key that comes with the new cylinder? Thanks man! Please let me know
Thanks for the reply back. You rock. One last question. Does the new ignition come with a new key. Also food for thought for all. When creating any videos please explain “everything and everything” step by step. You may be surprised just how informative the devil is in the details. Thank you again. ❤️🎚️
Hai Nguyen thank you for the comment. I actually got it from a car junk yard here. We have one called Pick and Pull and I pulled it off a Camry that was the same year that had the key in the ignition. I believe you can also order it on Amazon. Hope that helped!
Any time you are disconnecting anything electrical on a car or removing, for safety reasons just in case you have a bear wire or bad part that can ark, sparks or anything like that , just to be safe, you don’t halfto, but just for you safety.
@@rprojects4553 Yes, I got it. Instead of a 10 minute job, it took me about an hour. I got lucky though! I kept turning and turning and turning… and it did turn. I was so relieved and happy I replaced it right away, before accidentally turning it back to off position 😇🙏 Thank you!
You just half to mess with it with another key similar to it , just make sure you press the lock on button to release the old ignition, but it is doable.

I don’t think so, it is just the ignition there is nothing electrical connected to ignition
and if it has a transponder key what else needs done
Y cuando puede conectar la tierra o negativo ala batería?
Cuando conecta todo para atras.

No the new ignition comes with its own key, can’t use other one, you could use old key to try to disengage old key cylinder.
Will the key come right out of the old ignition when removed. Do turn it back to off or pull it out on ACC. And does it ever jam in and get stuck.
Pull it out on acc, yes sometimes it gets stuck but will come out.

@user-qn3pb8ot6h yes
Did you use the same old key? How did you get that to work with a new Ignition?
When you buy a new ignition, it comes with a new key. You can’t use the old key. Hope that helps!
Great video. Thank you very much. Would be nice if you tell us where to get the replacement cylinder.

Did you check your butt? There's probs one in there man
why do you have to remove the negative battery terminal and what happens if you dont?

What if i CANNOT turn the OLD key to the “ACC” position, thus cannot pinch out the underneath spring nut?

Oh ok , good for you.
What if there’s a transponder? Like a chip in the key I have the fat key with the chip I think
Most likely you would have to get it from ebay or Amazon, or dealer, and if its an older car, the junk yard
My new cylinder doesn't not come with key. What will I do?
Anytime you buy a cylinder for a car it should come with a key. Depending on what type you are talking about
Is The This An 1998 Toyota Camry Le V6
Yes
@@rprojects4553 Thanks Bro
Does the car have a kill switch?
I believe it’s on the left side , driver side, where you pull your hood switch on the bottom side wall , just look under there left side half way up.
Thanks a bunch,
Richard, you are welcome! Glad it helped you!
How do you remove if you have no keys
You just half to mess with it with another key similar to it , just make sure you press the lock on button to release the old ignition, but it is doable.
Man, I can't get the new ignition to lock in there
You halfto keep trying, check that nothing is blocking it fro being locked
Either you have the wrong ignition , or yuo just halfto look for little pin that you push to lock it in , check it right, take your time.
I can either fuckk please help
