Stuck without keys and need to get home?
As long as you've got your toolbox you can hack into your car's ignition, start it up and drive it home.
This video demonstrates how easy it is to hack into your vehicle's steering column, remove the ignition switch and start the car.
But it doesn't end there - next you'll need to bypass the steering lock.
This will not leave any traceable damage and is completely reversible once you do find your keys again.
To access the plastic panels around the steering wheel, the airbag and steering wheel must be removed. Then, the two screws behind the steering column can be removed.
Following the thick wires, you'll locate the ignition switch behind the ignition cylinder. Two Philips screws are removed and then the switch can be pulled off the cylinder. a flat screw driver can then be used to start the car.
To tackle the steering lock, there are two security bolts need to be removed and the ignition lock assembly can be freed from the steering column, allowing you to drive away!
Note, if your car has an immobilizer, this will be more difficult. Check out my immobilizer hacking video here:
• DIY Immobilizer Hacking
Disclaimer: Only try this on your parents car. Using this method to start any other car could be illegal if the owner hasn't give you permission. This is not the way thieves would steal a car.

Make sure you have the battery disconnected before touching that airbag. Unless you want to risk it blowing up in your face or worse.
Agreed
Maybe did it out of camera.
Airbags can’t explode Out of no where like that just by disconnect them… they are wired to crash sensors and will only deploy if the crash sensor tells it to… the worst that will happen is there will be an airbag light
@@Im_elmoh
Oh ya?
Tell that to myth busters. One should never sctew around with any device that can explode unless it is rendered inert.
Yea i hate airbags in general. Should all be recalled like my sister's boob implants
Instructions unclear I now have felony charges
Dumbass it's for a car u own duh lol
I watched this video originally thinking who would ever need this… here I am hotwiring my own car because I lost the keys
For some reason I can't really explain that video is as cool as badass!
Thanks
very informative cheers!! straight to the point I like this video
Just curious.... what's the 4" x 4" wood block for?
What year is this I have a 05 rav 4 do you think it would similar. I don't have the key
Clever and crazy. Shoot an techstream obd usb compare video which is best? Xhorse? Which firmware you are using, 1.47 or 1.41 or 2.04 eu and us market has different products, you can do it very informative.
Very informative within very short time.great job!!
Thanks
Does this work on all types of cars or what if the car requires the key chip
That’s cool as , not gonna lie. but looks like it’ll take long 😂
Yes but you have time.... remember....it's own vehicle
Wayyy too long the people across the street already called the police
Do you have to plug back the wiring that you remove in the beginning to drive the car?
If you want turn signals/lights
So will this work for a 2010 toyota corolla
He forget to mention, this won’t work with vehicles that had immobilizer system (transponder chips inside the keys)
See my immobilzer hacking video for that
@@speedkar1005
lmao. Are you a mechanic or did you just get outta prison?
@@speedkar1005 this comment has me dead
If he just got out of prison that shit would’ve been done in 15 seconds
@@athanasia6766
He is the real engineer 😂💪
Once I have the ignition key receiver removed is it possible to replace it with a new one? My key no longer turns it,but still works for other keyholes. does it need to be reprogrammed at the dealership first?
2000 kia Sportage, no key fob, alarm, security.its just a key
I wonder if your old Kia even has an immobilzer....if not then it's a direct replacement
Without knowing for sure, an immobilizer on a 2000 Kia seems unlikely. You should be able to just change the ignition lock, or rebuild your existing one with new wafers.
can you make a video for 2002-2006 Toyota camry , thanks
I’m new in the realm of mechanics. I have a question. I’ve seen some vids where they resort to cutting power wires and ignition wires to jump the vehicle if simply shoving a flat head does not work initially. So my question was, is there any universal method? What I seen here was an entire disassembly. I’m sorry if my question sounds stupid. I’m learning.😂
What a waste of time 😂 this is not hot wiring a car
I lost the keys to my Honda CR-V 4 months ago I can't change out my ignition switch without a key so hopefully this works too atleast start it 😅
Worked!!!! Thank you missed my CR-V
You can call the manufacturer and get a duplicate with proof of ownership and the vin #. How old is your car? I'm not sure how far back they go, but it takes a while to get it. Or you can pay a locksmith. About $250 plus labor. Speaking of...do rich people ever have a need to watch videos like this?
damn, lost the keys to my Cat 15 tonne frontloader, will this work just like on a car?
Nice job
So….what’s the procedure if you’re in a rush and don’t mind just cracking open the steering column?
You should ask your local PD. They'll surely assist you in such a task
Been trying to remove the steering wheel security screws for hours they just won’t budge
Because real thieves, dont even bother stealing carollas 😂
So you mean all those Hollywood movie car rip offs where they just pull the wires & touch a few together to start and go is all crap? I'm crushed. Last comment was precious! Great job as always. Thanks!
Sounds like it might be tough to get back together
Great job!! Thanks a lot.. This video help me at night 2.00 am when i stuck at highway road..
How did you lose your keys? ( I won't tell your wife )
@@athanasia6766 Lol 😅😅.. Find my wife first.. Cz i wanna see her 😅
I like how your lower dash is missing from your corolla
Can you make one for keyless cars? I only have one key for my Lexus es350 and I know I’m gonna loose it one day.
Not to mention the cost to program another key.
See my immobilzer hacking video
You should get another key from the manufacturer. You need proof of ownership and vin#.
Btw, did you really write this comment just to let us all know you drive a Lexus? I drive a 2001 Century. Isn't luxury wonderful?!
Sorry can this video help me with my venza I lost the key recently
Dude you saved my ass I lost my key and my first car has just been sitting there, also being 22 and not having a drivable car is shameful thank you
Once lost my Honda Accord keys. I had to do this to start and drive till New keys came. Works in a lotta cars..along as you Do Not have a mobilizer then it won't work.
Agreed. Almost all ignitions are like this.
Can I hotwire my 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass ciera
can that start a 2004 ford courier
Hi, my car squeaking at rpm above 3500-4000 rpm, serpentine belts are new, but the squeaking still exists (but not at low rpm)
What caused this and how do i fix it?
Try checking your belt tensioner pulley/idler pulleys for play. That's a common cause for sqeaks- especially loud squeaks.
Check all pulleys
Idler tensioner alternator water pump power steering etc.
@@ojomominott4587 ok i'll try
@@speedkar1005 do i need to disassemble the belts and pulleys?
@@putraadriansyah8082 You need a new car
What if you have an immobilizer
i stole my friends corolla as a prank and now he called the cops
I accidentally triggered the Infiniti vehicle immobilizer system will this trick help my car start?
No the Immobilizer is a separate system
@@speedkar1005 can u please figure out a way to hotwire the nats?... without a working transponder
Well that's a lot more complicated than I thought.
Damn that's interesting!
now google thinks I'm a criminal lol
How does this bypass the chip on the key?
I just got a 91 mercedes 300 but key won't turn will this work on the benz , if so will I be able to install and use push button start?
You have to bypass the steering lock somehow
boutta steal a car, thx for the info:)
Howd it go?
Poor bastard
Go for it
@@speedkar1005 Bruh🤣🤣🤣
Awesome 👌 👏 👍 I love it !!! Thank you so much Bro.👍👍👍👍👍👍
What if ur car has a chipped key tho
Now I know how to work a job of my life
Maybe not recommended on automatic transmission.
Wow thank you I love this experience 😍💟
Cute pal thank You
Thanks☺️🇵🇬
You start by disconnecting the battery so the air bag doesnt pop you in the face with a tool in your hand
The last one at that at the same place
which car ? model?
the car he's using is a 2001(?) Toyota Corolla
Can you do a video on how to hot wire a push start ignition 😊
That requires alot, especially if you have an immobilzer
I had a 74 Volkswagen I had to push start...that got old pretty fast.
So not just touching 2 wires together, like in 80's action movies?
If you lost your keys, how did you get into the car in the first place? You need to show a video how to get into your car if you lost your keys. Lol
Any tow truck driver with a slim jim can do that.
@@speedkar1005 Or honestly, if you're handy and live near a u-pull-it type scrapyard, maybe you just bust a window (I was gonna suggest the weird Camry c-pillar one, but I dunno how easy those are to change). Of course, it would suck to smash it only to find your tools (or even just one crucial one) aren't in there! lol
Why didn't you just put the run/accessories and starter on the power wire and remove the starter wire when it was going? That would have been much faster and easier.
I dunno if it's the same with Toyotas, but ~25% of the ignition clamp shear bolts I'd uninstall from 01-05 Civics were loose by the time I got to them.
Related (?): The "ears" on a 2003 G35 clock will usually be unbroken, but they're _always_ broken on 2004 models. My theory: The screw gun on the assembly line went out of spec (too tight), and wasn't recalibrated until the model refresh in '05.
Whoa
Maybe someone was trying to steal those civics
@@speedkar1005 It was me. I woulda got away with it too, if it wasn't for you meddling kids!
Did this car had a immobilizer
No
That's took much work
CHIP KEY?????????
I should've left a link to this video in my car so the thief would've been successful. My insurance claim would've been easier, and I could've gotten a pay out to put towards a better car
I have an 06 Toyota Corolla I'm going to give it a try someone stole my keys
The terminator did it better lmao
Nice of you to share with the whole world how to steal a car
finna go steal n crash my ex’s car now thanks😌❤️
Why

Interesting.... but a lot of work
95% of cars are immo equiped nowadays

What about cars with a chip
