It's great to see a tiny going up !

Laser levels are the best of course!!!

Problem is friction of the liquid in the pipe. The moment pipe diameter is small and longer than 5 m friction in the pipe slows leveling extremely resulting in faults of up to a couple of centimeters if not enough patience is applied. Can take minutes....we wanted to control meter level bolts set by the contractor at NMB stadium and failed dismally as the distance between the meter levels was about 20 m
The distance was to large. We had differences to the contractor's meter bolts of up to 25mm.
But we embarrassed ourselves as the contractor proved us wrong with his laser level😅

Yes. I noticed that especially if there are bubbles in the pipe friction can cause errors. What I do to check for errors though is to hold the two ends up against each other first to be sure that I am getting a level reading between them. This seems quite effective.

Yes. And specifically for smaller structures the hose pipe level is perfect enough 👌
