I just came across your channel today and I am so happy I did! I am also living with a chronic illness and trying to find my happy place. Art has always been my passion but I just feel so overwhelmed with technology. Thanks for taking the time to explain and inspire! ❤🙏
Apart from this being another info packed tutorial, I just love the way you edit your videos around the YT ads. They always come on at an appropriate time, for example, between different subjects/chapters, and not right in the middle of a sentence. I find it so infuriating in other you tubers videos....so much so, that sometimes I've even left their tutorial because of this. Love your channel. Thanks😃
Hi Mey you are aMeyzing! Thank you for all your videos, they are so informative but it's your wonderful "real" personality that makes it enjoyable! I used to take handwritten notes, but then I got so frustrated because I had to peruse 10 pages before I could find one piece of information. Downloading the transcript or taking notes on my computer whether it's in a Word document, Notepad, or something else, is far easier to search for keywords and find what I'm looking for. As for the person who asked the question "how the liquefy effect works" I think I understand why this person asked you. They probably asked you because they knew they would get an accurate answer. Personally, way too often I have to listen to 10-20 videos before I can find the right answer to my questions, and I just don't have time to do that. When I find a good reliable source, I stick with them. I think that's the problem with RUclips, so many videos, it's hard to find the good ones. Or, they could have gone to Photoshop and found the answer faster than Google... Anyway, thanks again, love your videos!!!!

Hey Mey, just found your channel this week after having launched my Etsy store about a month ago and bombing so far. Thank you for inspiring me again I was feeling defeated. No sales. I took some of my designs and put a few on different platform. I would like the Etsy bootcamp video. Thank you.

I haven't even thought of trying out seamless patterns on Gimp- that's so cool !!! Did you need them to have a transparent background? Cause you can create seamless patterns on Canva Free version as well.
@@MeyTribe Hi Mey, transparent is best. I have such a screw eye that lining things up on canva takes forever so once I've done the original pattern in canva I use the gimp offset to repeat the pattern.
Thank you so very much this was all so helpful. I've been designing patterns for 6 months now and while I love selling on a lot of different platforms I recently started devoting a lot of time to designing fabrics for Artofwhere. I was wondering if you would do a fabric focused tutorial for Zazzle and with tips on how to market fabric stores because other than starting a blog devoted to sewing I'm at a loss.
Marketing fabrics, to me, would seem to be best marketed by creating things from these fabrics, which requires ordering them. Or using the patterns on various mockups to seem as if the items were made with the fabric. Also maybe on sewing communities on Facebook and Reddit. I haven't gotten zazzle or AOW fabrics yet, I did get my fabric from printful, which came out insane, so maybe there will be a video on that :) Thanks for the "reminder" - I've had the fabric lying around for ages!!
@@KawaiiKoala197 You literally made me order fabrics now LOL I ordered another sample from another company, and now also from Zazzle, though it's sooo expensive LOL
Heyyyy! 🤩 that was such an amazing live! My question was how do we set up a name for our POD store and a domain for our website? Do we even need a website when getting started.... the question may have been answered 🙈 Also... can we market without showing our face? Or would that defeat the like know and trust factor for increased sales? I am booming with questions! This channel is a huge life saver and gives oe hope for a great nomadic future 🦄🍭🤩
Coming up with a name can be tricky and depends on what you're selling... Try thinking of you, your style, your audience, and your products- and creating a word cloud of some sort. After that you create combinations for them, and when you have a few good names that YOU like- you check them for a domain under that name, as well as if that name is available on the platforms you wanna sell on + social channels. You def don't need a website to get started, unless you want to get started with an external supplier, like Printful or Awkward Styles, that don't have a marketplace, and you don't want to sell those on Etsy. But, having a website can be super beneficial, with blog posts, or just to feature your art, or even make a links page for your social channel's link in Bio. And yup- you can def market without showing your face! However, that depends on what you're selling. If you're ver art oriented, to your own art, the best marketing technique is sharing your life, sharing the process of your creations, and creating that human connection. If you're a niche or a brand- no need to show your face at all. There was a 3 video series on that relating to Instagram, those 3 approaches, maybe that series would help: ruclips.net/user/MeyAroyoTribesearch?query=instagram Honestly, the first bit you asked gave me an idea to maybe make a full video on that... I also have a video planned for how to market when you hate social media LOL And I am super happy you find this content useful
@@MeyTribe - Wow, thank you this is brilliant information! A video on selling if you hate social... is right up my alley! 🤣 I am definitely binge watching your channel - it's so honest and true value! 🙏😊💛 Nomadic future - oh absolutely, I'll be in touch soon. 🤗
That Free Education segment is what I truly agreed. Can't top that one for me. With internet existence, plus some exploration, we can really learn stuff for free. For real, really really free. Just one thing that I can't stay away from is, photoshop. Been learning it for ages, so when I tried other free photo editing, I missed photoshop so much 😅 Yes, photopea is the free version of photoshop, but, but, I still so accustomed to photoshop.... arrghhh... the feels....
I was NEVER able to crack photoshop, was so annoying to me, with CSP being far more intuitive... But Happy to see others liking it. And happy to see so many other people get the whole thing with educating yourself, and the fact that it doesn't have to cost you anything. I am now trying to replace my "sleeping with netflix" to falling asleep with procreate or productivity classes... (gotta use all the time you got LOL)
@@MeyTribe It was a super steep learning curve. I need to ask a friend so many times. Watching the in-the-software tutorial again and again. Countless hours of youtube. Still, my designing skill is still low 😆😆😆 The thing about photoshop is, it's a load of sooooo many tools to use. Once you get the hang of it (and remembers where it is located 😅), photoshop is awesome. Too bad, it's just not as sharp as illustrator. As a photo manipulation software, it does help making pod designs a breeze 😁😁😁😁
I will try and work on a newer version for the Pinterest video, though there has been a Pinterest for print on demand video on this channel before., So maybe a new one would be in late September,.
Thank you for another video with great info. I think a live session would be great! I love your emphasis on education and growth. Google is your friend (for information research, at least). I'm living on a fixed income so everything I've done with POD (so far unsuccessfully :o) has been free. I'm using Sketchbook Pro for raster drawing [most things], Gimp for photos, and it's a grab bag for vector drawing (anything from animation software up to and including PowerPoint :)). I think I finally understand what role Canva should play in my workflow, please correct me if I misunderstand - in my case (I draw my things in Sketchbook) I should be using it for building framework/design around my finished illustration - e.g. frames, text, borders, clipart, etc. (or just designing separately within it - but I don't use it yet so the point is moot).
I would totally use PowerPoint if I didn't have a mac !!! I think there are so many awesome things you can do with it, also- I know so many people who were selling printables, like planners- using word LOL And yes- you can use Canva as a way to build your design using elements from Canva and from yourself. However, if you're using Zazzle for example, you can create the design directly on their platform if that is a text + your graphics kinda design. There are really many options. Where have you tried selling so far? what's your style like ?
@@MeyTribe I commented twice on this and the comment got axed both times it appears. Maybe because I mentioned a company name? Anyway, one more try... I have a small discombobulated Zzzle store. I found having to do each product variation intimidating but the killer was store organization...I couldn't tell where the new products ended up or how I should create collections, etc. Still, I think that it is by far the best if I can get it together, due to the templates. It's on my vague future to-do list until I have a more concrete idea of what designs sell for me...I do mostly animals in styles of cartoon to realism (I guess..., you be the judge if you happen to take a look at the RdBbble store) I put a fair number of things on RdBbble under VerdeDoodleDuck - it's had no response, basically (zero sales) after 4-5 months. I'm hopeful the art is good enough (I've only been drawing since last year - I'm 'retired' software engineer, just lightly cartooned a bit before) and it's just learning how to get traffic and maybe a little bit (or more) of work professionalizing my finished designs maybe streamlining the store inventories if I can figure out what to carry. I don't have a lot of professional feedback due to the age I've started at (and my severe anxiety that keeps me from readily socializing.)
@@MeyTribe Yes, the drawing tools are surprisingly powerful and there are many fun one-off features. I was managing a graphics team at the time and we evaluated it when my company was acquired by msft back some 20 years ago.
Hi , very useful information, in fact I have a question , I have iPad 7generation , do you think that procreate will work without any problem or I need to change to ipad air . Thank you
I wish you would make a video about the 90s/2000s and what was popular. I searched it the other day, but I am still not really sure what it was....and I lived through the 90s/00s. 🤦🤦🤦I would like to see what types of fonts and graphic elements that would be good for that era.
Not sure I'd know the fonts for that era, as it feels to me that a lot of them were very similar to the fonts of the 80's and 70's But I will def go about making the tie dye video as well as showing some retro items I found in stores here :)
I just saw something about a person who had their accounts cancelled by a platform (not sure which one) because they used photography from Canva for print on demand. it was just covered on autopilot passive income channel.
I have just watched that and I really don't believe all is what it appears from that person!! It seems more like that person earned $8000 before they were banned, hence, got caught , and that is why they are claiming Canva lied about their licensing policies!!
Makes sense, you can't just take photos without modifying them. Also- some platforms don't want you to "recycle" materials, I know people who got banned for using ready-made CF designs for tshirts- as the platform wanted only genuine creators there.
Thanks for the good info! 😁 I agree, the knowledge of googeling is too low, especially since many younger people have grown up with internet. I'm decent, my mom was really good at that though! 😏
I have some great stuff out there on Redbubble and some other websites and have sold NOTHING...its true I have no money for marketing... how long does it take to get attention??
Some people spend money on advertising their RB store- and get 0 sales. that's cause RB contains so many other people, not just you, and when you bring traffic in- people can just click on anything else without noticing they're "leaving" your storefront. I got my first sales rather quickly - as I was marketing my items in groups and in a blog that got a nice load of daily traffic. Marketing doesn't have to cost money, you can market for free on Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Reddit... I haven't seen your shop or know what you've been doing for marketing to give an answer... I posted on the community tab here a post calling out shops with 0 sales to add their shop's name or link so i could review them in a video :)
Your videos are amazing and so much to learn from you👌❤️ Can you maks ibisx tutorials? And did you try krita its free on Android too? Is it good too for designing can you make a review Thanks..
You mean IBIS pro ? I think they are the same, no? And I haven't heard of Krita... Is that only for Android? Cause I don't have any Android tech here in the house...
@@MeyTribeyeah i mean IBIS PRO Krita is in beta on android and its avaliable on desktop and it has alot of features nearly like photoshop but with tools for illustrations and brushes don't know if krita on IOS or mac Sorry i forgot about that you don't have android tools😅
So, if a vector on Pixabay says free for commercial use, no attribution required, you cannot use it? I mean to say that you add text to it or incorporate it with other art or change the color of it?
If you read the terms of service of Pixabay you'll see that the commercial use requires modification, or being different than the original work. Reselling is not legal with pixabay, or with ANY free stock site unless the specifically state you can use it for Print on Demand as is. Add text, change the colors, make it into a pattern, make it different than the original.
@@MeyTribe Yes, I have read the terms of service, but I haven't seen anything that prohibits use on print on demand as long as you are modifying the image in some fashion.
@@MeyTribe I get a little confused when I hear you talk about this. I think what you are meaning to emphasize is to make sure not to use their stock "as is" Because my understanding is that it is OK to use if it is modified. Is that correct?
@@MeyTribe Hi Mey, i think what's not clear to me, is I hear you say it's not OK to use images from pixabay period, thats what it sounds like by the way you inflect or emphasize it( to me anyways). I think what you mean is not to use them exactly "as is" That I understand already, but I'm sure others might not and that is what you are communicating. (I think) So just to be clear, is my understanding correct that if you modify the image (i.e change some colors, add it to other graphics and/or text and it says it is OK for commercial use) that in that case it is OK to use. I think that is what you are saying, only that as I said above that it sounds (sometimes) like you are saying that it is not OK at all to use graphics from Pixabay. I hope I explained that well and it makes sense. And I thank you for your RUclips content.
Personally- I don't think they are expensive too. But so many people asked for a free option in terms of creating POD, and for some people Canva Pro is something they'd need to consider, maybe it would be too expensive for them at the moment, or maybe they are paying for other programs. I know people who create all their designs and mockups with placeit, and only pay them. But yeah, Canva is def worth it for those who can afford
Hi Mey, i thank you for this helpful video, but i tried Wow Patterns, they really aren't free, they must be attributed, i'm not sure that i spelled this correctly, but i've gone back n' forth with Wow Patterns in emails since last week, they haven't been very helpful, they don't seem to know what i asking them, i need to know how does a person go about attributing, i've clicked onto a few wow images, it does get downloaded, but they are only free for personal use, to use them commercially, i have to (Attribute) them, please could you explain on exactly how does a person get the link url or code onto the image to be able to attribute them?
When I spoke to them they said the attribution is only for when you use THEIR patterns, I wasn't using their patterns, I was using their free tool making patterns on my own- which they told me when we spoke last- that that one has no attribution. Maybe check the wowpatterns video I made to see the use of the tool- and NOT their patterns? ruclips.net/video/m3CwPNUX-aE/видео.html
@@MeyTribe Hi Mey, thanks for the quick reply, there is numerous images or patterns available at their site, they offer them free for personal use, but if a person wants to use any of them for commercial use, they claim on their site that (attribution) is expected or i won't be allowed to use their images commercially.
@@j.m.england6828 I know that, I mentioned that in the wow patterns video. BUT - notice I wasn’t using any of those here, I was showing their tool to create a pattern from a photo YOU will be uploading.

Point of correction: Placeit does have freebies, not Placeit do have freebies. I've noticed this seems to be a new trend everywhere where a company or organization is referred to in plural. Or have the rules changed? Great info though
Or maybe I just have ADHD, FMS & not the perfect English when filming ? You'd be surprised how often people don't notice making grammar mistakes when they're talking... And as my videos are long, I don't always notice it. (and when I do- I don't have that extra 1 hour to go back to filming again...)
@@MeyTribe Thank you for your reply. No offense was intended. As I said, it seems to be a new trend. I’m noticing it even in television commercials, so I wasn’t making a crack about you personally. Ripping off, oh, excuse me - using generic "free" images - or, yes, I'll say it again - ripping off someone else's images is not only unethical, it engenders design for the lowest common denominator. This should be outlawed! If you don't have the ability to create your own images by drawing, painting, photographing or collaging images you created yourself, then you are not qualified to create images to sell on POD sites. This video is a disservice to those of us who actually put the effort into creating unique original artwork. The mentality of using other people's images creates a culture that thinks it's "acceptable" to plagiarize without authorization, works created by people who actually spend hours and hours producing original artworks. It also creates a culture where money hungry idiots copyright and collect royalties on older works they have scanned from printed material.
Instagram had 3 videos here on the channel, But I will try and make one targeted for Zazzle. Tiktok might take me a bit of time as I have my own issues with Tiktok... It's not that great of a platform. I mean- it's a great marketing platform, but their algorithm is destructive to so many people, and they are the one app that gathers the most intel on you from your phone that it's insane.

Aww that's so sweet of you to say :)
Hey Mey,
Thank you for the super informative video! Could you please do an Ibis paint tutorial for pod?
I have it written now on my list of "to film". Not sure if it will be this month or the next, but i will do my best.
My iPad and procreate were one time investments and canva is the only subscription.
I look at my iPad the same, best investment ever :)
I am learning about video editing with skill share. Love it.
That's so cool!! What software are you learning on ?
i really appreciate your videos. you talk tyo people like urt a person. alot of these videos across the internet dont take into consideration that not everyone has knowledger or mobey or technology.... or the videos arent actual teacghing they are about do whhat i do. ugh... as im commenting on this. you are actually answering some of the questions i have had. i dont know if there is a way to specifically email you with more personal one on one questions reguarding the subject of POD?
I used to design on Canva for free then uploaded the design onto Photopea for free and removed the background and exported as PNG :)
That's a cool way to do it :)
You are amazing. You are fun and I love it. Learning so much.
This was such great info Thank you so much for sharing. I'm glad I found your channel Mey! 💜
Happy you like it here :)
I figured out seamless patterns on gimp and now I love it but the learning frustration is real:)
@@MeyTribe thank you so very much for the wonderful ideas I'll definitely give those a try. I'm excited to see the printful patterns they sound great.
@@KawaiiKoala197 You literally made me order fabrics now LOL I ordered another sample from another company, and now also from Zazzle, though it's sooo expensive LOL
@@MeyTribe LOl. This makes me unbelievably happy. I literally can't wait. Zazzle is going to be my big project next month.
@@KawaiiKoala197 Sound sso exciting being together on this in a way LOL
Heyyyy! 🤩 that was such an amazing live!
My question was how do we set up a name for our POD store and a domain for our website? Do we even need a website when getting started.... the question may have been answered 🙈
Also... can we market without showing our face?
There was a 3 video series on that relating to Instagram, those 3 approaches, maybe that series would help:
ruclips.net/user/MeyAroyoTribesearch?query=instagram
Honestly, the first bit you asked gave me an idea to maybe make a full video on that... I also have a video planned for how to market when you hate social media LOL
And I am super happy you find this content useful
@@MeyTribe - Wow, thank you this is brilliant information! A video on selling if you hate social... is right up my alley! 🤣
I am definitely binge watching your channel - it's so honest and true value! 🙏😊💛 Nomadic future - oh absolutely, I'll be in touch soon. 🤗
Thank you for sharing your information its a goldmine dig in guys
Glad you enjoyed it
That Free Education segment is what I truly agreed. Can't top that one for me. With internet existence, plus some exploration, we can really learn stuff for free. For real, really really free.
Just one thing that I can't stay away from is, photoshop. Been learning it for ages, so when I tried other free photo editing, I missed photoshop so much 😅
Yes, photopea is the free version of photoshop, but, but, I still so accustomed to photoshop.... arrghhh... the feels....
Still, my designing skill is still low 😆😆😆
The thing about photoshop is, it's a load of sooooo many tools to use. Once you get the hang of it (and remembers where it is located 😅), photoshop is awesome.
Too bad, it's just not as sharp as illustrator. As a photo manipulation software, it does help making pod designs a breeze 😁😁😁😁
Great tips thank you. Pinterest please!
I will try and work on a newer version for the Pinterest video, though there has been a Pinterest for print on demand video on this channel before., So maybe a new one would be in late September,.
Yes would like a Tie dye video
I was thinking of also trying to create a tie dye effect myself, so maybe that one will take a couple of weeks, but- ON IT !!
@@MeyTribe thank you
Thank you for another video with great info.
I think there are so many awesome things you can do with it, also- I know so many people who were selling printables, like planners- using word LOL
And yes- you can use Canva as a way to build your design using elements from Canva and from yourself.
It's on my vague future to-do list until I have a more concrete idea of what designs sell for me...I do mostly animals in styles of cartoon to realism (I guess..., you be the judge if you happen to take a look at the RdBbble store)
I put a fair number of things on RdBbble under VerdeDoodleDuck - it's had no response, basically (zero sales) after 4-5 months.
Pleaseee Etsy and POD !! Thank you so much!!
Writing it down for this month !!
Yes! Please
Thank you for another fantastic video ☺
Glad you liked it :)
Removing limiting thoughts. We all can do it ☺
Your videos are so inspiring. Thanks!!!!!
I didn’t find gimp intuitive either but it is a cool free option.
It's so annoying LOL super unintuitive, and so buggy and slow LOL But FREE :)
@@MeyTribe Have you tried Photopea, it is very similar to Photoshop.
@@MissMolly3377 1 time for a bit, didn't really liked it from what I remember.... But maybe it's cause I hate photoshop ? LOL
@@MeyTribe yes the slowness! Drives me crazy 😅
Just Be Curious, you will learn something every day 😊
Good advice !
As an abstract and conceptual visual artist and poetry writer on kdp how can i market myself alteratively?
By having a website and social media accounts as an artist- sharing your process of creating, behind the scene footage, time lapses of creating, etc.
Thank You Mey
Hi , very useful information, in fact I have a question , I have iPad 7generation , do you think that procreate will work without any problem or I need to change to ipad air . Thank you
I am using Apple iPad 10.2 (7. Gen) 128GB :)
Maybe that answers your question :)
@@MeyTribe thank you
I wish you would make a video about the 90s/2000s and what was popular. I searched it the other day, but I am still not really sure what it was....and I lived through the 90s/00s. 🤦🤦🤦I would like to see what types of fonts and graphic elements that would be good for that era.
Not sure I'd know the fonts for that era, as it feels to me that a lot of them were very similar to the fonts of the 80's and 70's
But I will def go about making the tie dye video as well as showing some retro items I found in stores here :)
Your videos are amazing and so much to learn from you👌❤️
Can you maks ibisx tutorials?
And did you try krita its free on Android too? Is it good too for designing can you make a review
Thanks..
You mean IBIS pro ? I think they are the same, no?
And I haven't heard of Krita... Is that only for Android? Cause I don't have any Android tech here in the house...
@@MeyTribeyeah i mean IBIS PRO
Krita is in beta on android and its avaliable on desktop and it has alot of features nearly like photoshop but with tools for illustrations and brushes don't know if krita on IOS or mac
Sorry i forgot about that you don't have android tools😅
@@emerislinmer yes it is
It’s exactly what I says in the video and in the comments here
Not sure why it’s not clear I guess
And I thank you for your RUclips content.
how do you make money?
Lovely videos
Your first name, "Mey," is quite unique. Just an observation.👋
Thanks :) Though it's quite common in Asia LOL
Canva Pro is really not expensive.
And it's sooo useful. I find myself using it more than any other.

I can give you these sights as well Mey if you are interested I can give them to you.
You can share sites with people here, but I personally don't need them, that info is for viewers who want to save money with free tools- I'm ok with my paid ones :)
Lol I stay away from gimp myself there are much better tools I had so much trouble working with gimp myself and it is definitely not beginner friendly.
Yeah, it's such a hassle, but for some people it's a good free tool... What tools are you using?
@@MeyTribe I use neon light effect but it has like 50 different functions watercolor, painting, and 3d effects as well. luna pic. I use as well, and photo editing tools.
I just thought you might appreciate knowing, as you’re interested in education. Trust me I do get ADHD and I would never make a put down about that or the fact that English might not be your first language.
@@CynergyDiva English is my first language… but how many native speakers never make a grammar mistake?
It’s quite hard never making them, only - usually with other people there isn’t a recorded proof 😆
@@MeyTribe I apologize for offending you. Sure we all make mistakes. I thought since you value education, you would appreciate knowing for future reference. My sincerest apologies fir that.
@@CynergyDiva I think you misunderstood me…. You didn’t offend me at all
I know that people make grammar mistakes while talking and I’m ok with that. You asked if I did it on purpose- I said no :) fully my mistake, I make loads of them :)
It is outlawed- it’s illegal to take someone’s work and sell it as your own (feel like you’re mad at me for saying what you just said…)
Thank you for another fantastic video. 👍🌹
I would like marketing video for TikTok and Instagram using Zazzle platform.🌞
Instagram had 3 videos here on the channel, But I will try and make one targeted for Zazzle.
Tiktok might take me a bit of time as I have my own issues with Tiktok... It's not that great of a platform. I mean- it's a great marketing platform, but their algorithm is destructive to so many people, and they are the one app that gathers the most intel on you from your phone that it's insane.
