I appreciate your honesty, the fact that other channels try to push you into being niche and saying this and that it is oversaturated is BS you are right. Whatever you create if it genuinely comes from your own creativity is unique and genuine, it is of your own creation. People will buy whatever they need and suit their fancy if they like your style that fits their need then they will buy it simply, it is not about competition which I believe to be of evil origin. Anyway, you're a strong, beautiful woman who got my respect, especially over other RUclipsrs in this category.

@@9MileRoar Totally !! people will buy what they want! I have had many viewers (and clients in the past) that made money with simple pastel lines or plaid designs- cause that is simply the specific color palette someone needs for the bathroom/bedroom.

Yup people say cat niche is over saturated but my highest sales are in the cat niche because as you say a lot of people in the world looks up animals and pets but I will say this I do have over 300 designs in that niche and I will never quit making for the cat niche because there are a lot of cats in the world and hundreds of millions of people read up about that niche. Good video Mey.

Mey Aroyo, thank you for this video and your request for feedback etc. what resonates for me is the honesty .. especially having a job and being realistic about how long it takes to grow a brand. That it’s not a get rich quick scheme that is irresponsibly being sold on the RUclips platform by some individuals.
    1. My reasons to start print on demand are artistic and the obvious one.. supplement income. However, I am under no illusion that making money at this is a longer term project.
    2. I have been planning this since late November and I know without contradiction, this is way harder than most of the so called RUclips tutorials make out. In fact, all too often it’s sold as being easy when it’s not.
    3. Most of the tutorials I’ve watched thus far have assumed the viewer knows way more about the basics of saving an image with a transparent background or what pixels sizes to use.
    4. Saving as PDF, SVG or JPG.. which is best on what platforms.
    5. Where to place a print on a mock-up on the various platforms.
    6. I’ve just done a days work and sat down to work on several images I was playing about with on Kittl.. yesterday as test learning on the back of one of your videos.
    7. Most of the videos make it look sexy re the money and easiness. I’d like to see a video from the start of making an image .. putting it on a mock-up and the actual transfer onto Etsy etc as an actual listing. As for the listing., including a size sheet construction, the SEO for that listing etc.
    8. I have seen two maybe three channels cover certain parts of this but not the complete start to finish for complete beginners like me.
    9. How to create bundles.
    10. I have Printify connected to my Etsy store ( no merchandise in there yet ) but the pricing on Printify is in dollars and seems a much higher price range than other listings on Etsy for T-shirts, that are in £ Sterling by other creators.. how to overcome this would be super helpful Mey.
    11. I currently have Canva pro .. Placeit pro and Kittl pro.. so far Kittl impresses the heck out of me as it seems designed for people making apparel.
    Thank you 🙏

Thanks so much for this well-thought out video, so much amazing information! I especially loved the bit at the beginning about the "why" of doing POD. I've done graphic design kind of on the side, as in as a part of my former jobs in wedding and event managment, and started my Redbubble store in 2019. It's been doing ok, but I recently got really into design again recently, so gave the shop an overhaul and have been consistently uploading new designs in the last few weeks.
OMG, I was horrified at how awful some of my early designs were, but, very strangely, 2 of them have been selling consistently since 2019! I do this yes, of course, for extra income, but mostly because I genuinely enjoy the design process and I am pretty passionate about the very wide range of niches (hello, ADHD 🤣) that I create designs about.
The other reason I'm focussing more on design and POD work is that I am recovering from a bad ankle fracture and only work part time, and also have caring responsibilities. I also love to camp and travel, so am trying to build up a side income that I can do remotely. The fact that I absolutely love doing it is an absolute bonus, but it matters to me - I'm not the type of person who can do something she doesn't love for long!
OK - you said you liked long comments, even though that was longer than I meant it to be! Thanks again for your video! I'm a new subscriber, so am looking forward to watching more of your vids! Cheers, Tara x

This has been so enlightening and empowering! I've been listening to lots of POD videos about making $100.000 profits, optimizing the process via AI... and I just didn't vibe with that at all. Best wishes for you!

Video full of amazing mindset shifts and tricks for every POD seller out there! Thank you, Maya for doing the real talk online and actually helping us with our journeys! 💞 Most of us are stuck with POD because we've listened to all of these fake gurus that sell the "create your dream life by making passive income" sh*t on, on like an old and boring broken record. That's why the whole Internet is "oversaturated". I have higher chances of building my online businesses by ignoring 80% of their videos and taking LOTS OF NOTES from your channel cuz there are so many gems here - every real and honest digital marketer would agree. My goal for Q1 is to finish my business plan for 2023 (I have this huge excel sheet with a lot of data), learn ways to create beautiful patterns and other original designs with Kittl, Repper and Canva (for now). What I am not gonna do anymore, like ever? Design trends and popular sayings and niching down for days, even weeks to find "good trendy keywords that sell". Opening Trademarkia when I was doing trends was super stressful for me, cause I was aware that at ANY moment, someone can buy that trademark and that can cause termination of some of the very few marketplaces that I am on. Next, I am gonna start my 1st Zazzle niche store (even though I am pretty sure IRS will keep 30% of my money in taxes, don't really care about it at this point, I will affiliate myself), start a niche blog with WP or maybe with the Hostinger builder - I am not sure cuz WP is great for SEO but harder to create), write dozens of blog posts, then will buy a monthly Place it subcription and create lots of mockups for Pinterest. I would love to learn more about product design and how to use all of that data that I'll gather in a productive way.

Mey, it is amazing how you pack so much in each video. Your thought process and skill sets make me think there must be multiple people living inside of you. About 2 months ago, I stumbled into some of your videos that rekindled my interest in POD. I thought it would help me share my thoughts/messages through visual images while, hopefully, bringing some dough. Then, thanks to you, I learned that POD marketing is done through social media, which I do not have time and energy for.
So, the part that resonated with me the most in this video is where you talked about WHY. Is POD for me? The answer is sort of - no, if my goal is to make a living income; yes, if I want a platform/excuse to practice my visual communication skills.
The next part is WHO, to which I have been totally oblivious.
I know I have made lots of progress since I found you, yet so much more to learn. Thank you, Mey. I am sure you are challenging many people to rethink about POD and to improve their skills.

I want to create things that I want to use/have that are not already available to me that I like. So why not try to sell these things I create as well. If I spend time designing something I plan to use and no one buys it, I am not out anything except the time it took to learn the best "where" and time to list/post it. I would love residual income but I am not depending on it so the pressure is off so to speak. This is so fun learning. My ADHD brain likes how to share information. So glad I stumbled on your video. 🎉

I actually still need to watch his "why not" video, thanks for the reminder,.
and yeah, if you don't have a strong why- it's really hard to juggle both.
I see Miso do that, with his full time job + working on side projects, and for him I feel like what really helped are these things:
      1. to have a passive income for whenever he wants to stop having a boss.
      2. he enjoys the process of what he does- he'd probably do it even if it was just a hobby.
      3. the way he does his side hassle teaches him so much about other skills most developers don't have, like video editing, filming, photography, and even graphic design or making an esthetic looking website.
and no need to thank me, honest by default (autism LOL )
I hope you find a strong why this year

I like how comprehensive this video was, especially regarding WHO and WHY. I’m an elementary school teacher and I also dabble in illustration from time to time. I was a fashion illustration major in high school and have always loved the idea of designing apparel and stationary for kids. I have many interests but don’t know how to narrow them down. I want to create things that are timeless and aren’t here one day and gone the next. I’m not sure what that looks like in the POD world, though. I often look to what my students like and they love fun pens and pencils, stickers and post-it notes, and notebooks. That said, again, I want to create things that have an impact and perhaps are connected to things they can learn about music and exploring the world around them. So, I’m kinda stuck in a rock and a hard place figuring things out.
Anyway, do you have any videos on doing taxes or taking care of finances as a small business, online merchant? I know we’re all in different parts of the world, so specific tax breakdowns are difficult, but I’m wondering if there’s a resource that shows people how to manage the backend, not so sexy stuff lol.
Thanks for the great and helpful content!

And it's so important to plan and set goals !
I don't know if you watched the goals video yet, I refer to it at the end of this one, and there's the free planner for starting an online business on meytribe if you want to use it (print it or just re-write it in your own words in your planner) - meytribe.com/resources-freebies

Hi Maya, I’m so happy I’ve found your videos again. I’m also binge watching them again. I think I will sell on Zazzle as it sound’s much more interesting and easier to do than Redbubble or the fact that they have more abs better products! I did however find this video confusing at times because I’m wondering if one platform is better than the other. I don’t really have a target audience and I’m not really a designer but I do have a few sales on Redbubble so I’m just wanting to play around and have fun. This wouldn’t really be an income for me but just enjoying the process. I can’t wait for more Zazzle videos. I absolutely loved the video you made last year about how to make patterns with an app. I just bought a Cricut machine and plan on making several projects for my home. Perhaps I will fall in love with ideas for my Zazzle store too

My why is so I can satisfy my creative itch and make money doing it. I will be doing the bulk order method because I'm anal and have to have things look a certain way 😃

Thanking you very much for everything you said, have made me see pod in a different light, I might also know whom you have meant about the store review hmm, anyway, I sadly got my teepublck store deactivated some reason no idea why no email or anything, don't use creative fabrica for that reason and others, also this informative video has given me a okey take a step back and look at what's out there and design accordingly to the audience I would like to sell to so thank you very much

Hey Mey, I loved the update on POD and the oversaturated comment really resonated with me. I think that if it's good art and you know your audience, it will sell. I think the thing I personally would love to see more videos on, is a Shopify tutorial on the free Dawn theme, there's others tutorials out there ,but they aren't very clear. Also I'd really like to know how to put all the places I sell my stuff in one place without cluttering up my home page since I do have a website with WIX but it is limiting because I discovered that I have to have Shopify if I want the easiest intergretion with POD. So I'm opening a new store using Shopify soon as I build the site. I also want as much marketing info as I can get!
