I rented one in Salt Lake, drove it down to the Salt Flats, was in a MASSIVE storm on the salt, spent 2 days cleaning it, when I came back to Salt Lake the due eyeballed it suuuuper carefully (obviously he was suspicious, as renting cars to the Salt Flats is a HUGE no no!) but I got away with it. It's also a testament to the thoroughness of my cleaning, so in my opinion, no harm no foul!
I hate mosquitos. I screamed out loud in front of my computer, "There's one on your face!!!"...knowing quite well you couldn't hear me (especially from the future). Dur. Love your videos man! Please don't let the mosquitos or anything else get in your way of continuing this!

Amen to that Chad my brother I'm also a trained skywarn storm spotter and storm chaser I was coming home to Northeast Ms from West Ms last April from a storm chase I was close to home on us highway 78 and a semi truck was speeding and slid into me totalling my car and I ended up in a ditch luckily I only made it out with a deep gash under my right arm along with a third degree burn in which I wear as a badge of honor I got it from doing my job and I still get out there in the field today when storms threaten my community I'm dedicated to my community and keeping people safe two things will only kill me either old age or doing my job in the field

I wanted to move to the country, australia, because I was sure people are friendlier out there. I went camping in the country areas and it was dark, and i had like 100 4WDs driven by said "friendlier" country people, speed up behind me one after the other , I was doing the speed limit, they were WELL above it, adn they were ANGRY that I wasnt tossing my car into the ditch to let them past. if I didnt get to a pull over lane in time to let them pass they rode RIGHT up my ass and flashed their flood/spot lights into my car until they swerved out next to me fists smashed into the horn, dissapearing over the horizon in seconds which was scary BUT I am just glad they didnt run me off the road because they sure as shit were trying to!!! Friendlier my ass. Probs the same out south in America, just because Hanks nice DOESNT meant the rest of them are, unfortunately! seeing as he got smashed into by one of them and every time he chases he is dodging idiots on the road. Its a shame because I was SO sad when I left my camping trip. I really thought I was onto something and had an idea of where id like to move to oneday.
As for your own pursuit of friendly life.. I don't know. Maybe I am wrong and maybe the South is super nice. But failing that, maybe try Canada?

The only thing that truly terrifies me with storm chasing are tornadoes that you can’t see at all due to rain or other factors. I have no clue how people like you can keep calm in those situations.
One of the reasons why you shouldn't even attempt to get close to a tornado unless you're in some sort of armored vehicle such as the Dominator or TIV, and even those guys keep their fair distance when the tornado is masked by the elements.

Beautiful lightning! I had a Pecos Hank moment the other night. I was opening my garage to photograph lightning and disturbed a toad that was taking shelter by the door. So I caught the toad and brought him back to his normal shelter in the wood pile.

Buddy, the category scale is for hurricanes. The fujita scale is for tornados thats why they go by ef-1 or f-1
Scariest thing about growing up in North Central Texas (McKinney) in the 70s was the fear of a night Tornado. A mile-wide F5 had rolled through my town in the late 40s and my grandfather scared me to death with stories about what it did. These storms don't neccesarily stop being a threat when the sun goes down, and radar was crappy in the 70s too. I can remember being scared shotless by storms in the middle of the night. The only thing worse than a violent tornado is one that catches you by surprise.

Glad you're okay Hank. I totally agree, some of the worst dangers of being out in the field is the human element. Everything from chasers parking in the middle of the road to people trying to cram their cars under overpasses (DON'T EVER DO!!!!!!) sometimes the worst incidents are created by man... not nature.

We had a non-supercellular(is that the word?) tornado here in Argentina a few weeks ago, it was really weak though, but awesome.

Are you talking about the storm from May 28th? I was travelling down Route 226 between Olavarría and Azul and was hit by a storm right as we passed Hinojo. My friend's van got pounded by hail- it cracked the windshield- and he lost one of his windshield wipers due to the wind. Back in Olavarría, lightning hit one of the trees in front of my daughter's school and literally blew it to pieces.
Katie Frank I'm talking about the one in Tigre on may 11th! I heard about Olavarría but the last info I got was that the SMN was trying to determinate if it was actually a tornado because apparently nobody got it on camera. I'll see if I can find anything else but don't count on it because the SMN is shit when it comes to tornadoes, really.
Right, I remember now the one in Tigre. I had forgotten about it. And, yes, I agree about the SMN. I don't think what we had here last week was a tornado, though, just a bad storm. We did have a tornado come through Olavarría in 2012. It ripped my garage door off its hinges and threw it a good three meters, blew my water tank off the roof and destroyed two trees in my backyard (one was my tangerine tree). But my neighbor had it worse- he lost the entire roof of his house.

Hi Hank. I've really been enjoying your channel and I have been thrilled by the vicarious the sense of danger when 'riding shotgun' as you race around the big states in search of storms. One question that has been brewing for me as I've watched many videos is: Why don't all storm chasers use vehicles that have roll cages fitted? From watching footage from the El Reno 2013 tornado, and the tragic deaths of Tim Samaras, his son Paul and Carl Young, it seems that apart from being hit by high speed debris, it is more likely that death or injury with occur if the vehicle being picked up and thrown. I just went on my first chase this past week. It failed miserably for the most part lol. Left a day late and missed the action. We wound up in a small town in Arkansas called Mena. A local pointed us up a mountain with an overlook. We watched a huge storm blow in over the valley. The really cool thing was we actually got swallowed up by the storm clouds. Like we were literally IN them. The photographs are fantastic.
The part at the end with the slushee killed me hank. 😂. Keep it up man!

The person who hit you did you get their License plate? Since you have dash cameras you should be able to get the plate number and turn it in to local law enforcement.
