Good call on the "arm chasing the banana" In one of his videos, Hank recounted the making of his video DRIVE UNDER THE MOON-- the "arm" footage was filmed for that, but it ended up on the cutting room floor. The same arm made a brief cameo appearance in THE GLITTER TORNADO, amid all the other silliness. . .
I fly fighters in the USAF, and your ability to "debrief" yourself is critical and impressive. The debrief is where most of the learning happens. An honest, objective, no ego debrief is critical for learning and improvement. I commend you for your ability to critically assess your last chase and take the lessons learned from it. I honestly think countless fields could gain a lot by borrowing from the culture of aviation, whether it be safety, tactical prowess, debriefing, or whatever. Cheers!
I served in the Navy; your comments about being able to look objectively at an operation and learn from mistakes are quite cogent. Hank posted interviews with high ranking military personnel which dealt with these same issues you raise; that video is well worth the time
Same with debrief after traumatic Events. People with high responsebility , S&R and Medical Field see a lot emotional burden. Its so important to talk freely about they feelings and what gives them anxity or gives them preasure. Also Stormchasers who come in Situations of destruction how they are not trained for or used to. People are traumatized and acting in shock. This can take a toll on you even not realizing while under the impression of adrenaline. This pushback comes when things slow down. Something i learned from Hanks fellow Friend Daniel over the Years is , downt swallow this bad emotions after traumatic Tornado Events or near death experiances. Its so important to talk with all involved about what has happend , get it of the chest. Even crying is ok , most importnat is no jugement in this situations. Everybody deals diffrent with this. I noticed too many "strong" Guys try to be bussiness a usual after Days like Rolling Fork , Matador or Perryton ... no let this sink in , meet up somewhere with other Chasers and Helpers involved who have been there and talk after such Events. You dont need to be Friends but its a huge relif talking with all who have been involved and what they have seen. Its mentaly so important , it reduces the trauma drastical. Even someone is trained to deal with this in better ways , you can be a support for the person in the situation. The feeling of not being alone is so beneficial
Your subtitles corrected 'tornado' to 'burrito' surprisingly often. Thankfully there are very few burritos as dangerous as tornadoes (although gas station food, amirite?). Really informative video for aspiring chasers; the focus on safety is hugely appreciated. One of the many, many things I admire about you is your level-headedness, seemingly at all times, and your dedication not only to chasing but also to sharing your knowledge with all of us. Thank you for another brilliant video.

@@RICDirector He is an awesome gentleman who risks much for this. He impresses me so much because he stops to help people, just to do it because that is what counts, and because he stops to help animals. NO reason to do that except that he has a really good heart.

Great to see another Pecos Hank video. Good to see you keep your storm chasing focus on self-preservation. As Elvis said, "Only fools rush in." Personally I think your greatest footage is at a distance. You give your audience the opportunity to really study the incredible beauty and veroscity of tornadoes and meteorological phenomena without the distraction of hearing constant screaming from the chaser or the anxiety of wondering if You're watching their final moments. Your photography has us going back for repeat viewing and an appreciation of your camera and editing skills. Just look at the picture on your wall. I love the honesty in this video, admitting our own flaws is the only way we're ever gonna improve them! This video feels quite needed at the moment given how the last year has seen a number of terrifying near-misses from chasers getting too close for their own good. Fingers crossed the community as a whole will chill on the dangerous intercepts before we lose another chaser!
Not really proud to be in this one, the truck that drives by at 5:41 was me and my dad. June 17th 2023 was my first ever chase. I live back in Arizona so tornadic storms are a no-go year-round. Too close of a call after we drove by you and I won't ever be following a conga like that ever again. Adrenaline got the better of us that day. Thank you for uploading this amazing advice, love ya Hank! Never stop chasing!!!!!!
Barely halfway through this video. What Hank is warning about here applies to so much more than storm chasing. My angle on this is from chasing people for twenty-odd years, not tornadoes, but complacency, target fixation, herd mentality, and hubris will set you up to get killed even driving down the block to get groceries. Amazing video as usual.
Man I remember before you ever became famous and I was a young little boy me and my dad every night before bed would watch your videos. Just remember hank your inspiring and soon I will make videos like yours!❤
Hopefully not just speaking for myself here, but what really draws me to your videos is your storytelling - how you planned, why you made certain decisions, and what happened. Even if it turned out to be a dud of a storm. Don't risk your life for those close up shots, I'd still tune in if you were just chasing gas station corn dogs.
Hank's corndog adventures sounds like an interesting show I'd watch. You're right though, Hank is a great story teller. I love storms, but I don't watch any other storm chasers on RUclips. Hank set the bar too high, I know if I watch any others, they just won't be as interesting.

if you turn on the captioning he's usually chasing 'burritos' now lol but yes I also appreciate the educated commentary and sometimes the best images are farther off. my favorite is the before and after photos when there's damage.
I LOVE your videos! Especially that you are so very kind to wildlife and conscientious to their part in our world. This is such an informative video. I'm not a storm chaser but I see people driving all kinds of crazy everyday on the road so from now on they are forever known as the "dookies of hazard" lol. Thank you for all you do!
My general takeaway (beyond all of the excellent, insightful, and often introspective analysis in the video itself) is how incredibly steady Hank is under pressure. Some people are just good in a tight spot, and with a cool head, can make the necessary calls to get themselves out of it safely. Found this highly informative. (added bonus, armadillos are very cute?? I have never really realized before now.) Thanks for the upload! Be well.
Great video. As a fellow chaser I can confirm that you are 100% on the money with all of these. On that Nebraska tornado, I was in the same boat as you. Missed the photogenic one earlier that day, and was desperate for something. I was on the west side of that same storm and core punched, hoping to beat it across the road. I got into the outer circulation and lost part of my bumper. It was an incredibly stupid decision looking back. Coming in from the west while the tornado was occluding like that was beyond stupid and risky. All it would have had to do was turn a bit more and I'd have been gone. Looking back on it, and watching your video reminds me that sometimes we need to take a minute and think about things before we act, rather than acting on rash, emotional thoughts of redemption. Great video and hopefully we can all learn something, and maybe be at least a bit more safe while chasing.

@@dubaiedge That's actually a very good question and one that I think is hard to answer. For each chaser it's probably going to be something different. THE GOAT HAS UPLOADED AGAIN!!! I love your videos man. They always make my day better, and you’ve honestly been my biggest inspiration to become a storm chaser. Can’t wait for Tornadoes of 2023!
For someone who’ll never see any real tornados in the Netherlands, these are really scary… I’ll just watch them on RUclips. Your videos are always so nicely done and a real work of art! Thank you for so many dangerous clips! Your work is always appreciated :)
I think it's pretty crazy that florida has no tornadoes. I mean I ain't complaining but with all the shit in Florida you'd expect there to be tornadoes. Nope, never seen one
I don't remember who it was, but I remember someone saying a while back in the wake of El Reno, "It's called storm chasing for a reason. You chase the storm, not the other way around. If you're in front of it and it's chasing you, you're doing it wrong."
One of the best videos you've ever done Hank. So much wisdom and experience to pass on. Wow. A very tough field and dangerous one to get into, and this does not mention those who aren't trained and still foolishly try to chase making it even more dangerous for them. Great to see you, safe and sound.
@MikeReally No, I totally understand everything Hank was saying. I was pointing out and vainly hoping those who watch this and are thinking of chasing without any training that they think twice. I'm well aware if trained chasers like Hank who have been killed. I've been weather spotting (not chasing) since 2012. Every year we are required to attend a weather spotter training which consists training or advanced training (depending on how much training you've had and want) to continue being able to report. Spotting is simply reporting severe weather you see at the location you happen to be in at the moment it's occurring as long as it's safe to call in at that moment. We are always warned ⚠️ "Do not chase", along with part of the training explaining safe areas to be in should we encounter a tornado, what to do and what not to do. So many here in Ohio where I am do chase with no training of any kind. Chasers are highly trained with degrees with years under their belts, and as Pecos Hank has so eloquently shown us, it's frickin dangerous when they are doing it. How many problems go into chasing and things that can go very wrong. Oh no, I get it. He hasn't just chased, but he's helped people in their most vulnerable moments.
Love your videos Hank!! You inspired me to pursue meteorology as a profession, I'm a sophomore at Penn State now and I don't think I would have taken this path if it weren't for your videos. Much love dude ❤
Weather Enthusiasts could use a couple more meteorologist 'heroes' like you! My favorites right now are of course James Spann of Birmingham, as well as Prof. Eric Snodgrass at Nutrien. 🇺🇸 👍☕
Great to see a Pecos Hank video again! These days, it's more storm chaser wannabees looking for social media likes and attention that are making the pros look bad. It's why I'm a NWS Spotter and not a chaser! Keep em coming! You have a great channel, a smokin' hot wife, and great advice for everyone!
I want to see a movie with Hank as DoP. So many movies these days are made just to look cool and that's it. Hank always shares thought provoking images that tell a story and also make you ask questions. If he cares that much about his RUclips videos, imagine how good a movie by him would be.
Love it, great idea and great work, Hank! That Situational Awareness thingie is what worries me when my cousin/rommmate is out and I see things getting dangerous where she's going. I have made a Mantra for her; If you see any green in the sky, turn around, go a different direction, then get bearings. We do get tornadoes in SW Virginia, NE Tennessee, and North North Carolina... yes, most likely the worst she would find getting close to the Core is hail but come on; does she really want to have to replace windows and drive home with a spider-webbed wind screen?
You mention failing to get "those shots", and the desire to compete and succeed. You are a wonderful photographer, an educator, a person with a great heart judging by your actions towards the world around you, and an inspiration. Few can claim the same accolades, so how much more success do you want? I love your work for all those reasons, plus the fact that you are NOT on an ego trip or just trying to get the super risky shot. I don't need to see those. By staying alive and bringing the world your wonderful content you are succeeding in so many ways.
Thanks for the stuff to look out for Hank. Stuff like this is why I will not go on a storm chase on my own until I have made a comprehensive list of do's and do not's. I encourage everyone to do the same before attempting your own storm chase. Literally EVERYTHING about storm chasing can kill you if you are not careful and do not know what you are doing.
I only do perfectly safe tornado chasing. I watch you guys on RUclips while cuddling my cat safely at home. Thank you for taking us along & please stay safe.
Reminds me of how much I love vehicles driving around like nothing is happening when Reed is trying to intercept a tornado in one of his armored vehicles--it's like "you realize that the other person is in a vehicle specially made for being hit by tornadoes and you are not, right?"
Absolutely love your videos Hank! You are by far my all time favorite storm chaser and it always makes my day to watch your videos, even the older ones. My son has also begun watching your videos, he says he wants to see a tornado one day and be a storm chaser like us! Bless you Hank, cannot wait to see more!
thank you so much for risking your life getting these amazing shots. I’ve been watching this channel for years and you are one of the best to ever do it.
the closed captions on this are golden. "punching into a core hoping to see a soggy rain wrapped burrito", "both times i came close to being killed by burritos" XD. Burritos seem to be the main tornado replacement word here
Rode with a deputy during a tornado warning. He lit up a group of chasers doing 83 in a 55, yet they acted like they had status that excused their speeding. Didn’t work.
Great job Hank! I would add that one should be in a vehicle made to handle the stresses of bad weather. Trying to punch your way to safety against strong inflow means that your 3 cylinder Toyota Yaris is probably not the best choice.
This is going to be an important video and a valuable resource for many. I feel like in the past years, a lot more chasers, many who are new to chasing but even many long-time chasers are making a lot of choices that wind up in getting hit. Usually, this is due to a chain of unlucky coincidences that aren't very common, but with repeated chases, will become common enough to matter.
i love the fact that u stopped to help those ducks and i've seen u help other animals to. i'm a big animal lover and i appreciate completley another person that is kind to animals and take the time out of his main goal to take them out of harm's way! thank u so much!

Great video Hank! we don't get too much activity down here in Tampa, in fact, I've never seen a tornado or waterspout. but your videos have inspired me to keep chasing and pursuing, Thanks Hank
This is an excellent video Hank. There are a lot of amateur "chasers" these days, hopefully this will help them make better decisions. Better yet, maybe they will get out of the way and leave it to the pros.
am from the caribbean 🇹🇹 and i never thought i would see lightning like how i have been seeing from your videos for years. Seizure bolts, Crawler lightning, bright white flashes enough to burn your eyes and i saw lightning striking side ways Hurricane Tammy cause all that last night
Thank you so much for everything you do man!! You have really shown me the terrifying beauty of the wind and skys, and inspired me to go to school for meteorology!! Love the tips on how to not lose your life when chasing. Super helpful!! 😂
I've gone chasing a few times. I "followed the herd" on one storm and almost got boxed in while in the path of a pretty strong tornado. After that I watched the weather and planned my route with the storm itself and avoided getting into that situation again. Chasing with a convoy is neat when everyone knows what they're doing but for the most part I see it as more dangerous than the tornado itself. Love your videos, Hank. :)
Howdy! This was a very amazing video. It scared the cr_p out of me several times. You are an amazing and very dedicated "chaser" that provides information and beautiful scary videos. Many thanks. I really do hope that you don't get injured anytime by doing your job. Take care, fellow Texas! Pecos Dave here!!!
Pecos Hank videos are some of my favorites on all of RUclips, but you have to watch this one with the closed captions on. Made my day. Seems that Hank is now chasing "Burritos" instead of tornadoes! 🤣 The caption that really got me was "The adjacent winds of the invisible BURRITO raked across and rocked my vehicle as I fled!!! MUST HAVE BEEN A HECK OF A BURRITO!
The detached arm following a banana at the end got me 🤣🤣
I think you're the first person to comment on that. Thanks!

@persapphonethey didn't say Europe though, did they? A European area, yes, but didn't say all of Europe is tornado free. Lol
@persapphone you either need to read better or stop assuming things
I think it's pretty crazy that florida has no tornadoes. I mean I ain't complaining but with all the shit in Florida you'd expect there to be tornadoes. Nope, never seen one
Great to see you again Hank! Absolutely love your videos.. going on 10 years now!
I swear everything you said was exactly what I was thinking. 🌪 🤟👀📸
I don't remember who it was, but I remember someone saying a while back in the wake of El Reno, "It's called storm chasing for a reason. You chase the storm, not the other way around. If you're in front of it and it's chasing you, you're doing it wrong."
Every day Hank uploads, it really does just feel like my birthday. Keep doing what you do, dude!!
Tomorrow (Oct. 21st) is my actual Birthday!! The best early Birthday Suprise is a new Vidoe from My Favorite Stormchaser!!!! Thanks Hank ❤ya!!
🎉happy birthday!!🎉❤
@@ZDucky1 Well dang! Happy (late) Birthday! :)
10/10 video. i love how all of his examples were from his own experience and not calling out other peoples mistakes.
It's always a good day when Pecos Hank uploads-I recently watched supercell and loved that your footage was in it!
One of the best videos you've ever done Hank. So much wisdom and experience to pass on. Wow. A very tough field and dangerous one to get into, and this does not mention those who aren't trained and still foolishly try to chase making it even more dangerous for them. Great to see you, safe and sound.
I was one of those newbies once. Lucky to be here. Cheers DH!
@@PecosHankDH missed a point. And more dangerous for you Hank and the other pros!
@@PecosHank May God be with you in all your chases, and may you be successful.
Out of all the chasers/channels. This has got to be my favorite man!! Keep up the great editing, narrating brother!! Stay safe!! 🤘🏼
🤣🤣🤣🤣the closed captioning! Insert "burrito" every time it's supposed to be "tornado"😂😂😂 as in "a giant rain wrapped burrito is coming my way!"🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love your videos Hank!! You inspired me to pursue meteorology as a profession, I'm a sophomore at Penn State now and I don't think I would have taken this path if it weren't for your videos. Much love dude ❤
Same
Weather Enthusiasts could use a couple more meteorologist 'heroes' like you!
My favorites right now are of course James Spann of Birmingham, as well as Prof. Eric Snodgrass at Nutrien. 🇺🇸 👍☕
Same he is a huge inspiration
Hey, me too! Same year, same college. Small world
eyyyyyyy fellow sophmore meteorology dreamer!
This advice will help SO MUCH as I yell at storm chasers while watching videos on RUclips. Thanks Hank!
Always look forward to your videos; the visuals, the wisdom and the rescue of innocent critters. Thanks Hank!
I’ve always wanted to know more about the psychological side of storm chasing. It answered many questions and thoughts I had. Great video!
The best chaser has uploaded!!! Glad to see another video from you Hank! I hope all is well!
I want to see a movie with Hank as DoP. So many movies these days are made just to look cool and that's it. Hank always shares thought provoking images that tell a story and also make you ask questions. If he cares that much about his RUclips videos, imagine how good a movie by him would be.
Every time this man post, it makes my day and gets me interested into tornadoes….again
I... LOVE Thunder Storms... literally the most majestic and terrifying thing on our planet...it's a magnificent experience.
Always a great day when a new video from Pecos Hank is out!
👍
5:54 "if you've lost situational awareness, try not to assume others know what they're doing".
words to Live by
Love it, great idea and great work, Hank!
I can’t imagine having a tornado on my ass and getting stuck in the mud…
New Pecos Hank vid = GOOD DAY
This guy is the best tornado chaser out there. Such a joy to listen to and extremely knowledgeable.
You are a great storm chaser, even if you have made a few mistakes and took risks. I am glad you are still alive.
I could watch a four hour documentary by Hanks and not get bored once. Love the videos as always!
Love your stuff hank! Happy trails!
👍
Pecos Hank, one of the few channels I click "like" before even watching and never regret it
it's always a great day when there's new Pecos Hank!
Praise God we didn’t loose you buddy!!! What you do is special!
Only 9 min video?
I was hoping for a 9 hour special this year 😢
One of the best solo youtube channels out there!!!!
Same!!!
I only do perfectly safe tornado chasing.
I watch you guys on RUclips while cuddling my cat safely at home.
Thank you for taking us along & please stay safe.
I absolutely love your videos! Your content is incredible!
Hank you have helped me slowly get over my fear of storms!! Seriously i cannot thank you enough for what you do!!
Warms my heart Jennah!
Reminds me of how much I love vehicles driving around like nothing is happening when Reed is trying to intercept a tornado in one of his armored vehicles--it's like "you realize that the other person is in a vehicle specially made for being hit by tornadoes and you are not, right?"
Real “Dookies” am I right? You really should not be on the road when the dom is around!
3:50 Even just by watching, it sent chills down my spine. Be careful, thank you for these amazing videos!
This is where I was thinking, the tornado "it's left isn't it?"
That was an edge of seat run! Yikes!
I shit my pants
It's amazing how strong the glass of windows on cars are
Been in this situation before. Only I was trapped in a tiny building at work. Got to watch a porta potty get flung across the parking lot.

Thats a giant burrito 1:28 😂
Being killed by burritos 😂 this captions changing tornado to burritos are hilarious 😂
This video was needed, especially this year.. Great work as always Hank! ❤
From one tornado nut to another. Think of what we’ll see if we survive another 10 years.
thank you so much for risking your life getting these amazing shots. I’ve been watching this channel for years and you are one of the best to ever do it.
i have never been so happy to see a tornado video. thank you for being you hank and bringing your happiness to the world and to me
the closed captions on this are golden. "punching into a core hoping to see a soggy rain wrapped burrito", "both times i came close to being killed by burritos" XD. Burritos seem to be the main tornado replacement word here
I love your video footage, as well as your honesty. This kind of video means a lot more coming from you.
i love how the captions say burrito in place of a tornado
Another pecos hank video to make my night better, stay safe hank and love the videos man.
Been a while Hank, my man! Quality informative content as usual! Thank you for informing us of the risks and hazards of storm chasing!
After loving tornadoes for almost my whole life Pecos hank, you always bring a join to my face when you upload a new video :) ❤
Still the best tornado channel on RUclips. And I caught that "Ecstasy of Gold" motif about midway through...very appropriate for the topic.
Hi, Hank. I saw a storm in Wyoming and it had 2 tornadoes on the ground and produced 6 funnel clouds on camera
“Both times I came close to being killed by burritos.” 😂 the subtitles.
I need MORE Pecos Hank videos 😊!!!!!!!
Hank, please be as careful as you can be. You can only luck out many times, and no footage is worth dying for!
i love the fact that u stopped to help those ducks and i've seen u help other animals to. i'm a big animal lover and i appreciate completley another person that is kind to animals and take the time out of his main goal to take them out of harm's way! thank u so much!
Awesome new Video! I love the POV his time. Also how you admit also messing up things sometimes. Hope this Video is a great advise to other Chasers who look up to you.Great Job as always
I'm starting to get my interest in tornadoes back! Thank you for this video!
Always a good day when Hank uploads
Its the worlds best therapy when Hank Uploads
Your videos are awesome af Hank. I'm always lookin forward to watch your crazy storm adventures.🤘 stay safe out there
Watch this video with CC subtitles on - every time he says tornado it replaces it with “burrito” and it makes for some hilarious lines.
You're awesome Hank! You will always be my favorite content creator.
The "Bless Their Hearts" made me bust up laughing. Thank you Hank for posting this video. I enjoy so much of your content.
Great video Hank! we don't get too much activity down here in Tampa, in fact, I've never seen a tornado or waterspout. but your videos have inspired me to keep chasing and pursuing, Thanks Hank
If you got a car you may want to watch out for fast tornados this winter 👀
The "burrito" in the caption always gets me 💀😂
This is an excellent video Hank.
The caption that really got me was "The adjacent winds of the invisible BURRITO raked across and rocked my vehicle as I fled!!!
MUST HAVE BEEN A HECK OF A BURRITO!
