Happy New Year Karen and Phil! As you know from my videos I’ve become a big advocate of small quantity sales. I’m selling 1/6 and 1/4 cords and they seem to be popular for the younger professional crowd that want recreational wood. Profit margins are great.
@@AllenFamilyFirewood1/4 cord stacks out to a 6’ long, 4’ high stack. A decent amount of wood. I sell it for $150… I think you would get more in your market.
Welcome back Karen, Phil should not be left alone with your new puppy. Just did a New Years countdown with our daughter and husband in Portugal. Can go to bed at a decent hour. I see a dump bed in Karen's future. Happy New Year to you both and your followers.
Definitely going to be a dump insert by spring . The dog has been coming with me to the Woodyard every day I just need to spend more time working with him so he don’t jump on her . Crazy weather we had today it was so nice out .
The people that buy 1 cord or less are not heating there homes and they like the small splits as it’s easy to handle so there willing to pay a premium.
Great video Phil and Karen. we have found smaller quantities are the answer for us as well. We are doing 1/3 of a cord delivery’s and small quantities yet 1/8 cord pick up orders. Stay safe and stay warm. Happy new years.
Happy New Year, Phil and Karen! I know a dump insert will be the ticket for Karen, but I still think an El Camino is the ticket. 😁 I would love to get $250 for half a cord, but no one around my area would pay that. I mostly do face cords at $120 each delivered. Hopefully you all will hit your goals for 2025. Stay safe and warm! 👍🔥
I belive the only reason we’re getting that much is because of the time of yr and it’s bone dry ready to burn wood . There’s guys selling seasoned wood for $350 a cord but it’s not ready to burn today . Were baisicaly getting the same price that there selling kiln dryed wood for and they are a 3 week wait but we deliver next day .
I like the idea of a dump insert!! Hopefully i can get one also, cause most of my deliveries here lately are 1/3 rd of a vord. Happy New Year Y'all!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
I've never really given the divider gate idea much thought but for your small deliveries it might really help you guys. The ability to do multiple dumps with 1 load could really help as well as the dump insert For tighter spaces. Divider gate could be a project for Dana. Always great to see the firewood heading out though! Happy new year Phil and Karen
Dana an I have been talking about a divider gate for yrs but just haven’t done it . The trick is keeping the load in the front from spilling over the gate when it’s tiped up . Happy new yr to you as well Brian .
Great video, as always you to. Me and my old man delivered hundreds of cords using one of those tailgate tarp unloaders. It was alot better then unloading by hand. There isva trick to them. He now has a electric over hydraulic dump truck insert in the back of his truck. It is great. You definitely need one of those for the delivery's you are doing. Some cottage driveways and trailer park driveways just do not allow much room for trailers.
Well, don't scare the Mrs off my a dump insert. Sometimes just the drive to may parents machine shop with my Mrs is all we need at times. Happy New Year, and see you guys in 2025😉👍
Happy New Year to you both. Come on Phil train that dog! Bout darn near knocked poor Karen over. Phil looks like you're going to have to pull double shifts to get back on schedule, lol.
We’ve been working with him but the jumping up part still needs more work . We bout sold out of lumber the other day so I’m gona have to fire up the saw mill again and that’s definitely going to put us back on keeping up with the firewood .
If 1/2 cord deliveries are becoming your norm, perhaps a 5x10 baby dumper would be a idea for your operation. Rescuing the Benjamins is the name of the game. Happy New Year to the both of you.
We’re planning on getting a dump insert for the truck so Karen can make the small deliveries while I can still get work done in the woodyard. At this rate we should have one pretty soon lol
Hello Phil and Karen. It looks like the sales are better with the smaller loads. A lot of people don’t want to move around that much wood. You probably could sell $200 dollar 1/4 cords for people that really aren’t heating their homes, but like occasional fires just to sit around and enjoy. Maybe on the future deliveries you can check Google maps satellite view to scout out the location before making the delivery. Thanks for another good video. Happy New Years 🎉. Hope next year is even better than this year. Phil that doesn’t necessarily mean more wood stands just more sales.
That’s not a bad idea doing 1/4 cords . Next add we might put that in as well . Gota have more stands to really up our summer time sales I’d eventually like to be up over 10,000 bundles .
Ol blue is fitting right in the big lug. 😊 happy new year to all the Allen firewood family. New LL bean opening near me. Karen could do the grand opening 🪵👍
He really is Bob, he’s a great dog. Getting better every day. Not sure I’m qualified yet to do a store grand opening! 😂 Happy New Year to you and your family!
Phil, you can’t talk to your boss like that, she won’t want to come help when it gets really cold. Ha ha, another good video. Joe @ OWB says there is more money in small deliveries. Maybe a smaller dump trailer would work better for your 1/2 cord or less loads. There was 1 or 2 used stainless steel bed inserts on market place for sale. You’ll get it figured out soon I’m sure. Love your new dog Blue. Looks like he is full of energy. Happy New Year 2025. Dave from Auburn.
We’re gona go with a stainless or aluminum dump insert . Just gota save up some $ or sell something to buy one . The small delivery’s definitely pay the best we just need to get set up to be more efficient at doing them .

@ I found even in my one ton that backing down them steep ones when the front tires start sliding as you say, makes it pucker right up. I tell them now I either dump it at the top or if I can drive down and turn around I do it that way I guess at 67. I don’t dare take the chances I used to. I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting old and scared or smarter or a little of both ha ha
We missed you, Karen. The dog is probably starved for attention and love. I wish we had the market around here. I am sitting o 90 cords of mostly hickory. I mainly sell to people that stay in my cabins. there are at least 6 wood stands within a mile of my house. I am in a tourist area and the wood stands are everywhere. This part of Ohio has few jobs and lots of tourists and there are a whole bunch of people that sell wood. From Logan, Oh. to the Hocking Hills state park there are 11 wood stands in 12 miles.
