The counterfeit box sets did not start showing up on the market until approximately December 2009. At the time the set was videotaped, the counterfeits had not yet arrived on the market. The reviewer did seem a little confused/disappointed that the White Album opened at the top. That's exactly how the set opened for the original UK vinyl pressings. Only later did they open at the sides. The attention to detail on this box set was second to none.
yes, i was thinking, why does he not know this and therefore, since he did not, is he the best one to be listening to about this set? that is a basic detail.
I didn't like the fact that the stereo cd box set wasn't packaged the same as the mono set. So I bought outer and inner sleeves for the stereo set. I feel much better now that both box sets are well protected.
You're right. You usually can't listen to the Beatles with only one earphone because most poeple only have Stereo recordings. By definition, you really need to wear two earphones to hear all the music when it is recorded in Stereo. However, with a mono recording, you CAN actually listen with only one earphone. Wearing two earphones will make it sound better and louder, but you don't miss any of the music by just wearing one when listening in mono.

People saying he's got a counterfeit box set don't know what they're talking about. He's really got an authentic set. I also got mine directly from Amazon.com and not from some secondary seller. I also got the Japanese box set from Amazon Japan with the obi strip and superior back cover with all the albums pictured. It also includes an additional booklet in Japanese with all the song lyrics, which I decided to leave sealed for collecting purposes.
@ColinMcDonaldGrant To you it may be a waste to buy both, but it just shows a big true support from the fans regardless of sound preference and monetary.
You KNOW when the shipping box is much bigger than it needs to be it's definitely from Amazon.

From my listening experience, some songs I prefer in mono, some in stereo. Nearly everyone has listened to the songs in stereo their whole lives (previously released CDs, radio, iTunes etc.) Listening to them in mono for the first time is a real treat.

@dverada Yup. The stereo box has a lot more clarity if that's the right word. It sounds a lot more complete, but this Mono box just looks grand! I own the original vinyls passed down to me by my dad and those CDs right there are exact mini replicas.
@whelljack Abbey Road and Let It Be were originally recorded in stereo, that's why there's no mono version of those.

@JokerFan252 I would say, get the Mono box and then buy yellow submarine, abbey road and let it be in stereo on the side. That way you end up with a collection closest to what the Beatles meant for you to hear. :)
That`s why from Recording Let it Be in January 1969 onwards there weren`t made any mono mixes of Beatles Recordings any more except for the Get Back/Don`t Let me Down Single released in April of `69.
But that makes the Mono Box so worthful and the stereo remaster of Abbey Road and Let it Be so mindblowing as well.
Hey Bill this is George again and I did buy this box set on September 10, 2010 and they did not have this box set at Best Buy during 2009 I guess they were sold out at that time!! So your video is really cool and don’t stop what you’re doing on RUclips keep going dude!!!

I agree that attention to detail is excellent! I pre-ordered the mono box from Amazon and, though I didn't get it on 09/09/09, it arrived within a couple of days afterward. I opted not to buy the stereo box, but rather the individual stereo remaster CDs of every album from Revolver onward. I am very pleased with my new Beatles collection!
@ColinMcDonaldGrant Much (if not all) of the original recordings were engineered and meant to be heard in Mono. Many Beatles purists prefer the mono mix (along with myself). Something about the stereo mix sounds lopsided to me I guess.
The Mono Recording is great to listen to. No one will regret it.
That wasn't very well protected in the amazon box, it was just loose by it self in there?

Based on your videos I bought both Beatles 9 9 9 boxed sets.. The large black stereo discs and the white mono set. I ordered both online from Target!

Amazon has it in stock now. I ordered it at the end of Sept. when it was out of stock and they had a guarantee that you'd receive it. Mine came in about 4 weeks. I don't know about other places but Amazon has it for $240.50
actually the pictures in the booklet are in the stereo remasters, there in the packaging for past masters.

Believe it or not that's how it came. Usually Amazon packages their stuff much better than this. The merchandise was not damaged or dented, fortunately.
I was hesitant at first to get this thing, but now I'm 100% sure I want this. I heard all the stereo mixes already (my uncle has the stereo set and I have Please Please Me thru Magical Mystery Tour) and they sound superb, but I'd like to hear how the mono mixes sound remastered. I'd also love to see the replica LP packages. Currently, I'm trying to save up for this set and the Capitol Albums sets, and I can't wait for the day when I place my order on Amazon, Thanks for the excellent video!
I am so gonna buy this next week on payday to complete The Beatles Remastered Mono Box Set Limited Edition before they really disappear like thin air! Sure, the stereo versions kinda sound awful but are still okay for a reason, but I cannot wait to listen the early albums though when they sound good! I hope they release them in mono seperately in stores soon!

Ive heard there are mono mixes of the abbey road and let it be albums but they are just folded down versions from stereo, and they were released in other countries, so does anyone have any needle drops of these. My car stereo only works on the left side so i can only listen to the Beatles in mono.

I don't know where else to ask this, and I have just noticed this (in 2022). I have found that, in my box set, the second disc of Mono Masters (but not the first) is mixed mighty quiet.
I tried to listen to Paperback Writer, and literally had to max out the volume. Meanwhile Disc One is fine, as is the Stereo Past Masters version. Had the same response to It's All Too Much. I'm all against the loudness war, but it is the disparity that confuses me. Anyone else notice this?
@meekintheweb Oh for God's sake, lay off the guy! You're entitled to dislike the Beatles, certainly, but you have absolutely NO right to demean the pleasure that people who bought the Mono (like I did) and Stereo sets got out of opening it. It *is* beautifully packaged, and believe it or not, it's actually nice to hear the music when it doesn't sound like it's got a great big layer of foam wrapped around it. Oh, and in case you hadn't noticed, the box-sets were sold here in the EU too! ;-)

oh and pretty much all of those pics u get with stereo !! i think stereo is more of a package to have !! but im gonna pick up the monos when i have the cash...then i can compare both....

The way the sound was split in stereo in a portion of the songs is just weird. Actually very weird sound when you only hear the vocals coming out of one speaker. The best way to sample this is with a pair of head phones. You think most people would say stereo is the way to go but not with the Beatles. For example listing to both version of Blue Jay Way on Magical Mystery Tour or Savoy Truffle on the white or Hey Bull Dog off Yellow Submarine album vocal only out of one speaker. Thankfully they added them to Past Mono Disc. The final two albums you can only get the stereo version but none of those songs have the vocals coming out of just one speaker. I own both sets and I prefer the mono but if your a huge Beatles fan both are a must haves.
@ramiroortega1991 you have to understand, Those 3 albums werent really mixed in Mono, So you will have to get them speretley
Just got this box, 9 years late to the party. Sound is fantastic and I'm sure the mono vinyl set from 2014 is even better. Dislike all those plastic outer and inner sleeves, took them off and put them aside. Housing all 13 discs separately in proper slim casings outside of the rather tight box - for seminal music such as these Beatles mono recordings, can't risk any scratched and damaged discs.
I think your decision to remove the plastic covers is wrong, it's an aberration, because if The Beatles have placed them it's because it protects them from dust, Greetings.
that was some shitty shipping whatever company you got it from did. I mean he opened up the brown box and it was just the mono beatles set, there was no bubble wrap or nothing.
Why on amazon does the mono box set is more expensive than the stereo box set even though the mono box set only has like 10 albums?
The mono box does not have all of the music the stereo box has. If you have the stereo box already, the mono box is a great companion to it from a historical standpoint. I doubt that anyone who owns the mono box will get rid of the stereo counterpart.

Nice boxset. I personally rather have the vinyl and have all the US issues and 2 Parlophone issues so far. Nice collection mate.

Bill, it took awhile but I finally broke down and bought one. Everything checks out, but I noticed one difference. My mono cover of R.Soul & Beatles For Sale are darker than the stereo covers for the same cd's. Is this the way yours are? Thx.
Sooooo...question. In a music store where I live, this box set is about $300, and Amazon offers it for about $107 right now. Any idea why there is such a big difference? Thanks in adavance

@6arcsn1sky I don't understand. The Beatles basically invented stereo sound. Have you ever heard of anyone trying to listen to one of their songs on an ipod with only one earphone? You can't do it.
The Beatles didn’t invent stereo. It was invented by “Alan Dower Blumlein”. Stereo been around before the Beatles even existed. It was invented for movies before it got to music.
Yo import the Revolver in Mono CD into your computer and share it to me via docs please! Im kidding haha but it would be great if you did, I can’t find it for a good price :((

There is no "really" or "not really", my dear ramiroortega! After the Get Back Single in UK in April `69 there weren`t made and released any further mono mixes of the Beatles in the UK an the US.
Because back then it didn`t seem to be up to date for the Band no more. See?!

Please be careful when buying the Mono set.There are lots of counterfeit copies being sold. Buy from a reputable seller and check it carefully when it arrives. There are very good RUclips videos that show the differences between the counterfeit and the legitimate ones. Both stereo and mono re-master sets are nice, but comparing them to each other is like comparing apples to oranges. I bought the mono box and perchased individual stereo CDs of all the albums from Revolver onward.

@6arcsn1sky I did my senior paper on John Lennon, and in an interview with Playboy, he said that he wasn't a fan of releasing their albums in mono as well. I support Lennon 100%
Well, what if they could remaster in mono? They could try.
I actually prefer a lot of the mono mixes for the Beatles - particularly the early stuff.. I don't like how they've thrown the vocals & guitars in one channel & drums & bass in the other..very unsatisfying when listening on headphones..An example for me is 'Nowhere Man' - I love the mono version as it has a much fuller rounded 'live' sound to it - the stereo version sounds thin & unnatural to my ears..Also 'With The Beatles' sounds ace in mono but not so good in stereo omo-wot d'u think folks?X
