I bought a fake on ebay without realising it was a fake 10 years back for about £30 and apart from one or two shoddy things it sounds fabulous.Cheaper than the official EMI release, hundreds of £s in fact.😊
The printing quality of the counterfeits reminds me of 1980s Parlophone LP pressings where they rephotographed original sleeves rather than use the negatives. I love how the Apple on the box appears to have a jagged line around it.
Thanks. Very Helpful video. Got a copy for $150 at Amoeba here in SF. They opened it for me to look at.Having watched your video (and several others), I knew the all tell signs of a fake. It was real and seemed like a great price. I'm so lucky to have a bricks and mortar store in my neighborhood to be able to look at the set before buying. Bricks and mortar rules!
I miss brick and mortar record stores; I have one here in Indianapolis but not impressed with it. The best one I ever visited was in Edison, NJ that I visited while in town for work, great store with occasional live bands, and even a crazy section with tons of boot legs, I wish that I could remember the name of the place.
@indiana2096 very cool sounding place. Believe it or not. My little ND city has two record shops! The one is pretty standard affair place and very reliable. The other has odd, unpredictable hours. But besides records, comics and other collectibles they also sell hotdogs with crazy toppings. Plus they host live bands all the time. Unfortunately it only seems they’re open when bands are there and it’s a tiny place so you can’t shop for records at all when they’re playing.
Thank you for this very informative vid. I have just bought this box set on ebay. It was in the auction and I timed it quite well and got it for a (relatively) reasonable price, £186 (UK). $227 US. I did check the pictures posted by the seller, based on my research but I was still apprehensive while waiting. Anyway, it arrived today and I went through the set with your video and I'm happy to say mine is definitely REAL!! Thanks again.
I unknowingly bought the fake stereo box for $89.99. Aside from a few slightly dark pics in the booklets (and a few misspelled things) the CDs sound great!
Thanks for the video. I had to double check mine just to make sure it was the real one. Happy to say it is real. I bought mine used on eBay over a year ago for $180. This video will save a lot of people from headaches and heartaches if they were to buy a fake one.
Thank you very much. I received mine today from ebay and I was a little nervous that I get a fake one, because I just payed 120€ for a sealed box, so it was very cheap for a genuine version, but to expencive for the fake. Fortunatly its a genuine version. So I am happy
Great video. I like that you're informative, but also joke a little and have fun. I was fortunate, I got a Beatles in mono from half price books for $150 before tax and shipping, it's the real thing, only missing the back panel, and the White album is missing the poster and the individual portraits. All the albums have the inner sleeves and the rice paper bag. Sgt Pepper has the psychedelic inner sleeve and the cut outs. Has the booklet too.
Good price on that. It’s such a fantastic box. I’ve fallen in love with the real one. My real fake one… not so much. Thanks also for the compliments on the video. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
A very helpful video. Actually, all of your Real/Fake comparison videos are great. Used two of your videos prior to buying the Beatles boxes, so thanks a lot!
Nice video info Beatles Dustino on Beatles Mono Box. I purchased a fake Mono box a few years ago knowing it was a fake, I was willing to sacrifice all the album cover & cd detail differences if the audio was somewhat up to the original mono box standard. I also heard at the time that the sound wasn’t that bad on the fake mono set- also money played a reason why I went for the fake. Well when I received it there was the obvious differences which you explained very well in this video however I did get the liner notes booklet & my Beatles for sale had Stereo on the upper right of front cover instead of Mono! Also MMT front cover was missing the banner that reads “Includes 24 Page Full Color Picture Book” this is another way to tell a fake from an original in the set. Now the audio was decent(I wasn’t able to compare sound to the real box) then I played the Help album and during a couple of the songs I think one of them owas “You Like me too Much” there was a static noise during the middle part of song - that I wouldn’t tolerate. So the biggest issue with the fake mono is the audio problem w/ the Help album at least with my fake set. Plus as mentioned Help & Rubber Soul have the original 1965 Stereo UK mixes! I didn’t play the rest of the set after that defect & luckily I was able to return it & got my money back which was about $100 bucks. Bottom line search out an original Beatles Mono Box to avoid buyers remorse & then some!
Yes. That’s for sure. The packaging in this set is as great as the music. Once I realized how nice it was supposed to be, I had to have the real thing.
I’m going to check out your videos on the Japanese Meet The Beatles box / the U.S. Albums Box & Capitol Versions. Vol.1&2 sets, I have some thoughts/comments on those as well.
I bought my box set early on and got it for a reasonable price under $200.00 before hearing about all the fakes and I have worried about it ever-sense. I check out all these comparisons when I come across them and I check it out all over again and I am confident that it is a genuine box set but still somehow remain worried about it. There are services that certify coins as genuine, maybe there should be something like that for collectable media like this. Thanks for the video, very thorough!
I ordered an inexpensive used set recently for $125 and was afraid I bought a fake because it sounded so low, but everything looks great with it after watching this video. The packaging looks just like it should. The Beatles text is embossed over the White Album. The White Album jacket is divided into two parts that the discs stay well in. No "poop bags" were included. "She's Leaving Home" was fast like it should be. "Helter Skelter" ended without the false ending. The booklet for Magical Mystery Tour doesn't fall out. I loaded "Wild Honey Pie" into Audacity and the left and right channels are identical. I weighed the box: 1 pound 13.3 ounces or 832 grams.
Sounds like you have the genuine article. They are a little quiet. Thank goodness they didn’t want to participate in those loudness wars of the 2000’s.
Thank you .......Yes I got took! BTW Love your hard work! I had gotten the real one first pre-order and picked up a fake thinking it was a "great price"! Love the guest appearence, at the very end!
I stumbled upon your RUclips videos and I must say that they are very productive and professional...I lucked out and was studying the Beatles in mono box set on Ebay....it was by accident because I was looking for an empty box for my Beatles stereo cds, I came across this seller that was selling it out of Utah (where my wife is from) and for a day or so he had no potential buyers. I went to my wife and told her " even though I am being very cautious I'm going to go ahead and buy it, if it's a counterfeit I'll eat the cost" i bought the mono box set and it arrived a few days later. I inspected it from what I studied on RUclips about the bootleg editions. I looked for certain things like misprintings of George Harrison name, the magical mystery tour cd cover, the darker apple on the box, the darker photos of Beatles for sale, rubber soul, and the cds themselves and from what I could gather I came to the conclusion that I indeed had a legitimate copy...the only thing that was missing from the cd box set was the plastic resealable cd sleeves that went on every album (a remedy that could easily be solved by buying them off Amazon) and I text my wife from work and told her that buying from the guy in Utah paid off and that it was a legit copy. Well I've went on long enough..I just wanted to share my story of how I acquired my Beatles in mono box set...thank you for putting out these videos...
You’re welcome. You did some good studying there, and glad you had a guide to help you out. It’s funny, watching videos on how to spot a fake In Mono or US Albums box are what got me into RUclips. Before I did that after going to see if I got burned on those boxes I never watched much on here. Then I figured if they’re talking about the fake ones they must cover the real ones too. So I got addicted to Beatles channels on RUclips, and now I’m a RUclipsr too. I’ve never really told that story. The other funny thing is, even though the fake sets is what brought me to RUclips, I never initially planned to do a video on mine. It was Beatley Tone who I was chatting with in his comments encouraging me to make videos based on them. But very glad you got a legit set. You can find those mini-LP sleeves on Amazon for a good price too. I’ve got a few from there myself. Take care out there in Utah.
@@BeatleDustino I'm actually from Alabama where me and my wife reside...since we are both the same religion (latter day saint) and I met her via a single site for latter day saint (long story) but she actually got me further into the Beatles with Rubber soul and Sgt pepper's and with seeing the movie Lemmy about Motorhead's Lemmy kilmister got me into being a fanatic..
We’ll take care down there in Alabama. Rubber Soul is my favorite Beatles album. So she got you going on a great one there. That combo is pretty good too for a beginner.
Oh I hear you on that. For me it’s between Rubber Soul, Revolver or Abbey Road. But at any moment any of the others could have top billing. It just seems Rubber Soul tends to be my most go to of them all. I really hope it gets the super deluxe remix treatment this year as all the rumors suggest!
@@BeatleDustino I'm hoping that the Rumors are true about the Deluxe Edition of Rubber Soul, I have all the ones that have been released thus far, and a few of the Solo Albums from the Beatles..but we never know what is in the future, I wish that they would do an updated release of the the Beatles in mono and stereo box sets.. I looked at some of the original prices and it might be cheaper to have ringo starr and paul McCartney just move into my home.
I bought one last summer just under $175, including shipping. It was legit and the seller had plenty of his own photos that showed enough of the box to prove it was genuine.👍 He was more than happy to send me photos of one that wasn’t in his photos and it arrived with all the albums present.
My copy of Beatles for Sale has "Stereo" upper right of front. Darn. I have wondered whether mind was fake. Now I know. Probably the same for the Stones CD mono box.
Yeah. The real one for sure will say mono. Haven’t heard on the Stones mono box having fakes. But I own that one too. Be on the lookout for a What’s In the Box on it someday soon.
Great video! I got a set on eBay last summer for ~$100 and I was worried about it. It was open and used, and no plastic sleeves (inner or outer). Other than that everything else is perfect. Passes every one of your tests here! I did buy some nagaoka cd sleeves and was able to make it as close to mint as possible.
I would think it common that many would have tossed the outer plastic sleeve, just too much trouble for them, like with the outer sleeve on DVDs, right in the trash.
I never had a fake Beatles CD box set, but I have had a Beatles fake DVD box set of The Beatles Anthology a few years ago and I did a video about it. As for 2024, I have not seen any pictures of that fake box set on eBay since I made that video. At least people realized that those sets were fake and we are now getting more of the real ones on eBay again and for good prices. If you want to see my video of the fake set I got at one time, let me know!
@@BeatleDustino I keep replying to you with the link, but it's not showing any of the comments I sent to you and I don't know why. I am not posting spam, I was replying to your message with the link to it.
I know RUclips doesn’t like links shared. They might be blocking the comment if it contains one. Is it on your RUclips channel? I should be able to find it just scrolling through your videos. Or search if I had correct keywords.
I avoided the Beatles Anthology DVD for a long time, it was always so expensive. I ended up buying it on Laser Disc and loved it! I ended up getting the DVD about a year ago, I never heard there were fakes of these around.
@indiana2096 I got my Anthology DVD through my bank’s debit card rewards program. It shipped to me from Best Buy so no worries on it being fake. I wish they still ran that program. I got so many DVD’s and CD’s through it.
I bought one for about 60 dollars not even thinking it could be fake. Your video showed me that it is indeed a fake. A couple of things; The sleeve for Beatles For Sale is labeled as stereo. The White Album is reversed: disc one has the white apple, disc two has the green apple. Makes me wonder if my copy of The John Lennon Anthology is real or fake. Thanks for the informative video !
Yes. On the Mono box it is horrible. Some disc won’t even play. The U.S. Albums box however sounded great. I have an update video I did with FAQ’s on the two videos.
Just to add my experience. I have the fake one and a real one. Soundwise they are indentical. I must have a different fake one than the OP. Mine doesn’t have the ‘Yer Blues’ misspelling.
I have an identical counterfeit copy of this, except the quality is better. But there’s no flipbacks on any of the Parlophone albums, all discs have the EMI inner sleeves (even the Apple / Capitol albums), & Magical Mystery Tour’s cover doesn’t even have an opening to store the disc! Just 100% odd indeed.
@@BeatleDustino I know, right? And what’s weird, I got it from my local record store for $240.00! Just odd that the counterfeiters are crazy with their counterfeiting!
I have a real one now and I've gotten the fake one before myself. I fixed up all the Jackets and I made new correct CDs using 24kt Gold CDRs and proper labels and made a nice set out of the fake one and gave it to a friend who couldn't afford a real one. I am still interested in your fake sets for sale or trade ...I make nice mini lp CDs and many of my own and Dr Ebbetts material.
It sounds like you really make something good out of the bad. Now especially that I know what you’re doing with these I’d love for you to have them. I’d be down for some sort of trade. I’ve always been interested in some of those Dr. Ebbetts done disc. Let me know. I’d part ways with both of these.
Pretty close. He’s formerly RX-24 from Star Tours, but he crash landed onto Batuu and was reprogrammed to be a DJ for Oga’s Cantina. He now is known as DJ R3X. Guess it was Disney updating him for Galaxy’s Edge. I loved when I heard there was a DJ droid and had to have him helping me spin my records. Though on Batuu I’m sure it’s not vinyl LP’s they spin. Great eye spotting him there though. You’re the first one. That is a Hasbro Black Series figure that was an exclusive to Target stores a few years back. Not only do I love the Beatles, I’m a huge Star Wars fan also.
I bought my set on ebay a few days ago for over $200. Haven't received it yet. Seller said it's in shrink-wrap sealed, not a fake and a 1st pressing. So i couldn't check for authenticity in depth and I'm scared. Of course when I get it I'll find out if it's fake. Through watching videos like yours I know what to look for
I paid $275 for a new set in 2015, sold by Amazon. Have checked it in and out, 100% real. Also purchased the steteo cd box set at the same time, also from Amazon for $270. Also definitely real.
Yes and no. The one on the fake box, you cannot read and of the writing on the label. I know it’s hard to read the darker official ones too, but in the right light they’re still legible.
I got that. The lettering on the fake ones is completely illegible. At least on the new Apple labels, like on Now And Then, in the right light and such, it is legible.
Seems a little pricey, but it could possibly be a real one. I’d probably search around eBay or Discogs. Look for sellers with pictures and not stock photos.
awesome content for the novices out there Dustin! hopefully they will research a little before buying these box sets, sadly it's the same old story where a lot of folks simply buy the bullshit of the classic too good to be true price without question or doubt. i've collected music formats, coins, antiques,etc.,etc. all throughout my life and NOT being a wealthy person i've always done my research and learned as much as i can until i'm very comfortable in putting my heard earned money into anything as it just makes sense. i don't want to spend $100 bucks on anything that will never have a value more than $20 bucks and the only way i can understand anyone doing that is if it's totally for sentimental reasons. with that said, i work in the printing industry and can safely say that the shitty artwork(printing) on these fakes is because the makers make copies of existing media which just adds additional generations to the quality so you end up getting washed out, off color, and less detail in the images. there are some fakers out there that will and can from time to time put more effort AND money into their fakes but for the most part the fakes can be weeded out but folks have to really look at the details of everything and do some research, and like you have stated along with a lot of us and couldn't be more true is the simply old school saying of "if it's too good to be true it probably is". keep up the great informative work brother, there is sadly a large number of people out there that need to do some self education to cover their butts. , Jerry \m/ \m/
Do you have a weight on the legit box? You mentioned the legit one was heavier so maybe an official weight on the legit would help identify authenticity. DO you have a food scale or a gram scale?
That’s a really good idea. We might have a scale around the house somewhere. It is a noticeable difference in hand though. I look into that. I might do an update video on this someday and will definitely include that.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I do laugh a lot. A few years back there might have been alcohol involved, but not a lot anymore. Maybe residual from the past. Not saying I’m dry now though, I’m even contemplating a new channel dedicated to craft breweries and all of them I’ve visited.
Thank you for this, turns out all the items you mentioned are in the fake box I just got on ebay for $85!!! Of course seller doesn't accept refunds but I will use ebay buyers guarantee. Wish me luck!!!
@@BeatleDustino no but I did use my Amex card which has buyer protection also. Seller already accepted my return and sent a mailing label so, so far so good. Thanks again for your post!
@bass117 glad to hear it’s all working out. Because I used PayPal, the seller never responded to me and they saw that so they just gave me my money back. I didn’t even need to return it because of this either.
I knowingly bought a Chinese box, for about 35 euro. All the same issues with the packaging, though the booklet was included. White album discs mixed up also. However, the sound quality of the discs was fine. And in mono! Some mono fakes are actually stereo... Perhaps a better sound system would reveal audio issues too, but for my situation the box was okay. Not wonderful. But for the price it was good enough. Plus, I wasn't scammed, as it was clear before purchase that it wasn't a real issue. The authorized set does look sweet though. But I'd never fork out the 200 to 300 euro they go for now. So, a fake it is : )
That works. As long as they were upfront with you. The packaging to me is the big sell on these. Yes, having the mono mixes is great. But seeing the attention to detail with a genuine set is impressive. I love mini-LP packaging and this is that to perfection.
Comparing mine to yours, I guess I have a real one. But I purchased it on Ebay for about $50 a couple of years ago. The only thing that gives me pause is the Capitol logo on MMT, doesn't look as clean as the original vinyl, yours as well. Guess I'm satisfied with my purchase. Thanks.
Yeah, wasn't sure I would get a legit one but thought I would take the gamble. Either I got a very authentic pirate, or I got the real deal and watching your vid and comparing mine to yours, I'm pretty sure mine is legit.
A quick question. Do you know anything about The Beatles in Mono The Complete Mono Recordings Limited Edition, Ltd Rmst Mlps ed. Box Set, Remastered. Is this an official release or is it a fake? Thanks
I see the one you’re talking about now. More than likely that is a legit copy. Amazon usually only deals in correct ones. If it is not though, they should take it back as they usually stand by what they sell.
I have some Beatles CDs they have 2 LP on each CD and on the bottom of each CD is a letter spelling Beatles , were these legit copies , could be a foreign press ?
Does your copy of the fake white album mix the cds (CD1 is actually CD2 and vice versa)? For some reason my fake box set looks much better. The fonts are correct and the audio is the same as the real one, but all the rest is of lesser quality.
I’m very sure the White Album disc are in the correct order. I’m guessing there’s several different versions of those fake boxes. Some better than others.
You can tell the difference between sealed real and fake boxes very easily, just shake them!! The real box the contents are flush, in the fake they will rattle.
@@BeatleDustino Thank you for your reply. So far, I have both Mono and Stereo album recordings UK Version, and Capitol Album vol. 1 & 2 Japanese Edition. These Beatles album recordings are getting complicating and confusing for me. I cannot even tell the difference among the various mono or stereo mixing. I plan to buy the US Albums Box Set in the near future; could you advise me which seller (on ebay or amazon) that can be trusted?
@user-si5xq4fv4t yeah. There are a lot out there to complicate things. As for seller. I don’t have anyone in particular. I’d say just look for a used copy with photos from the seller, not stock photos. This will help ensure authenticity. I believe the Beatles US official online store still has a copy for sale too. But it is $200 USD.
This is the link to the video about The Beatles Anthology DVD bootleg sets I ended up getting instead of the real ones: ruclips.net/video/_iuYBndrTDo/видео.html (I hope RUclips doesn't remove this comment because of the link I have included as it's NOT spam!)
All you can see in my videos are Beatles/Beatles related/solo Beatles. But below that line it does go next Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix, Tom Petty, then various artists I have at least two albums or more of. But not focused on complete catalogs. I have a video series going where I show What’s On the Rack and the releases from each section. There’s a playlist setup that shows just those episodes. I just got done filming the tenth section that features some John Lennon and all of my George Harrison CD releases. That episode will premiere this coming Saturday 5/6. Please check those out to see What’s On the Rack.
hello mate! can i buy from you the fake mono box? i will be happy to listen in home and try it mate! probably this sound weird but i will love to have it and try it! let me know if its possible ! :) cheers from spain!
@@BeatleDustino okay, no worries. I just want the box to try the cds and decorate a corner i have in home with beatles stuff. i will be 100% happy buying that. if finally you want to sell it let me know! thanks a lot and keep making videos mate!
Think I have 2 fakes, both diff. Both have the serif font on the box "IN MONO"; both have the fold over flaps, B has the spine printing issues, A does not. A has a rounded, sans serif red font on Help cover B is serif; also one has pointed A in Beatles on Help cover, other has serifs; printing of lower right corner on reverse of ALL covers are tiny on A, large on B. A has no Japanese "Mono Masters" book . A have the paper inner sleeves; Sgt Pepper psych sleeve missing in B. Biggest thing are spelling errors on cd labels and in books! Looks like fake prints evolved. Wish I knew the sonic diffs. I wont be buying any more Mono boxes, lol
I think there are several variations on n the fakes. Guessing more than one person is knocking them off. I’d say both of yours are fake from the sounds of it. I know I forgot to mention the sound. I only listened to them once. And maybe only a few of the albums. But I remember they did not sound great. I really had to crank the volume just to hear them.
I was living in Shanghai when the 2009 remasters came out. I picked up a copy for about US$70, complete with the Apple USB with 24-bit audio. Was it a fake? Absolutely. But it was a *_good_* fake. To this day I’ve only been able to locate a handful of telltales. And it’s held up really well, with the exception of the glue on some of the flaps loosening. Later I picked up The Beatles in Mono for $40 or 50. Same deal. Fake - but a *_good_* one.
@@BeatleDustino It’s holding up well, but possibly because, having copied off the contents years ago, I rarely take it out. Ditto with the CDs; the stereo remasters have never been in a CD player, while the mono set I ripped to flac when I got it.
@nathanaelculver5308 my sets rarely come out either. But when they do I just put the disc in a Case Logic for transport and keep the sleeves in the box. Mine have held up great because of that too.
Some details I missed. Yes, my fakes come with the “dog poop” baggies and lack the sleeves. However, the sound quality, so far as my ears can tell, is on par with the genuine, and my slipcases all have the flip back flaps and the spines and much better photo reproduction. The one exception I can see is the White Album, where “The Beatles” is printed on rather than embossed.
@nathanaelculver5308 those are pretty good fakes if they remembered the flip backs. The dog poop bags aren’t even that hard to find the correct ones. I got equal quality rice paper sleeves first try on amazon.
I see your fake white album has the same unreleased track on cd2 as mine "Yer Bles" lol... They only had to scan the cd disc, they couldnt even get that right!!
I Bought the £30 cheap off ebay bout 10 years ago not knowing i was buying a fake until i got it,But it sounded so good i never sent it back,Sod paying £300 or more for it,i wouldnt want it at them Rip Off Prices
@@BeatleDustino Nothing wrong with the fake packaging either.I would never have bought this even when I did for the rip off EMI price,no way.mine still sounds very good
It looks like the discs themselves that came in this fake box set are easy to identify as fakes. Are there some fake mono box sets that have discs that look very good? This could be important for someone that buys a disc only item online.
i bought an original one on ebay $75.00 the guy won it in a church raffle instead of pulling the holding tray out he cut the top of the box off ruining it found the same type of box and printed my own artwork looked like shit found a set on ebay again for $35.00 i knew it would be a fake but all i wanted was the box quick glance you cannot tell it is a fake on the cd jackets i had to use a glue stick to sea lthem up so the cd's would not fall out the beatles for sale jacket when opened had the biggest mistake the left side was completely blank no liner notes or picture soundwise they were ok except rubber soul the stereo tracks crackled and popped
I think part of the problem is the high cost associated with many of the legit products and then supply and demand rears its ugly head. I am not completely offended by bootlegs / counterfeits because they fill a niche market based around affordability. When I bought the re-issued Let it Be box, I have to say I was underwhelmed. Most if not all the content had been available for years and I thought for the price they were asking, there should have been some more of really unreleased content. The mono CD box is one of the few I did not buy it just didn't have the "gotta to have it" vibe.
I can see that. At first I was that way with it too. But after learning how significant the mono mixes were to these albums. And then learning how cool mini-LP CD’s are, I had to have it.
What I did go after was a two-disc sampler titled "The Beatles, 09.09.09 sampler. Each disc contained 16 tracks, one each from each disc of the remastered LP set. It's an outstanding promo set.@@BeatleDustino
Oh no! I always heard Amazon was usually safe with this stuff as sellers don’t want 100% of their purchases returned. But I guess that return policy is what makes it safe.
@SoloSi2024 depends on the fake. My In Mono fake box sounds horrible. Some disc wouldn’t even play. I had a fake US Albums box too and those sounded as good as the authentic ones.
@@BeatleDustino I buy a lot from Discogs and Ebay. If I see the seller is from China or Russia, I avoid. What's wrong with these people? The contrast between China and Japan (when it comes to physical media) is stark. Japanese sellers are meticulous and 100% reliable.
A subtle suggestion.....drop the laughing, we don't get what you are laughing at, plus it makes no sense sense to the viewer however it's a very good overview, just drop the laughing as you are using and losing valuable time!
You’re the first to complain about that. I usually hear comments on how people like that I laugh and not take all too serious. But thanks for the information and I’ll take that into consideration.

Anyway, it arrived today and I went through the set with your video and I'm happy to say mine is definitely REAL!! Thanks again.
Very glad to help. So glad to hear you got the genuine article, and at a very reasonable price. Enjoy your In Mono box!
Glad you got a real one. I think it's such an evil thing to sell fakes.
I unknowingly bought the fake stereo box for $89.99. Aside from a few slightly dark pics in the booklets (and a few misspelled things) the CDs sound great!
If the CD’s sound ok, should be good. Just the packaging in this set is the true story to me.
Thanks for the video. I had to double check mine just to make sure it was the real one. Happy to say it is real. I bought mine used on eBay over a year ago for $180. This video will save a lot of people from headaches and heartaches if they were to buy a fake one.
Yeah. I went through it twice with the In Mono and the U.S. Albums boxes. Got two fakes. Wanted to try my best to help others avoid that.
Thank you very much. I received mine today from ebay and I was a little nervous that I get a fake one, because I just payed 120€ for a sealed box, so it was very cheap for a genuine version, but to expencive for the fake. Fortunatly its a genuine version. So I am happy
Glad to hear that. Sounds like a good price for a genuine box. Enjoy it. It is a good one.
You’re welcome. Very glad to help.
Thanks. I’ve enjoyed showing all these Beatles boxes.
Glad to be of help. If most these videos are checking good with your set, it should be legit. But it is always good to keep making sure.
Glad you at least got one good one. Yeah, my buddy showed up as I was recording one day. Thought I’d leave that in as a blooper/Easter egg.
It was legit and the seller had plenty of his own photos that showed enough of the box to prove it was genuine.👍
He was more than happy to send me photos of one that wasn’t in his photos and it arrived with all the albums present.
Good price for a genuine one. Glad the seller worked good with you.
Mine too!
Very nice. Great price too. Even with getting the extra sleeves. Thanks for watching and enjoying the video.
I would think it common that many would have tossed the outer plastic sleeve, just too much trouble for them, like with the outer sleeve on DVDs, right in the trash.
Thanks a lot for doing this! Now I feel confident I can search for the genuine article in the market! Cheers!
You’re welcome. I hope this helps. Good luck on your hunt.
I’d love to see that video. Do you still have it posted on your channel? Glad to hear they took down their listings for the fake ones on eBay.
Glad this helped, sorry though that turns out yours is a fake. I’ve not heard any fake Lennon Anthologies, but I also wouldn’t rule it out.
Excellent video. I'm getting one for $250. Glad I watched this video beforehand!
That sounds like a decent price. Glad my video was able to help you. Enjoy your new In Mono box!
Late to the party here. Almost bought the cheap off AliExpress. I get the packaging difference, but what about the sound? Is there a difference?
There’s loads of variations on these fake ones. No two will be alike.
I think I have both the fake Mono and Stereo box set, but the quality is not bad at all and the sound quality is excellent.
Some do have decent sound. If it works, it works.
Wow. That MMT sounds terrible. Not even a slot for the CD?!!!? I can’t believe how terrible some of these are.
@@BeatleDustino I know, right? And what’s weird, I got it from my local record store for $240.00! Just odd that the counterfeiters are crazy with their counterfeiting!
@BeAGoodDoga ouch. Did you take it back to that shop to let them know?
@@BeatleDustino no, unfortunately. I can’t afford, let alone locate, a real set. I’m happy with what I have.
@BeAGoodDoga for $250 I bet you could get a legit good copy.
Would you consider doing a real/fake video on The Xmas Album? Thanks
I would, but I have neither a real one or fake one to compare. That would be a great video though.
Your videos r awesome. Keep them coming!
Thank you. I will!
Is that RX-24 from star tours in bottom left?! I need that figure in my life
Pretty close.
Through watching videos like yours I know what to look for
I hope it’s authentic. Get after them right away if it is not. Especially if you used PayPal, they should help you out if they’re non responsive.
I paid $275 for a new set in 2015, sold by Amazon. Have checked it in and out, 100% real. Also purchased the steteo cd box set at the same time, also from Amazon for $270. Also definitely real.
They’re great boxes both. Very glad yours are both legit. They’re so much more enjoyable with the great materials.
There’s one thing that I should point out: Apple is now officially using a darker Apple, that closely resembles the one on the fake box.
Yes and no. The one on the fake box, you cannot read and of the writing on the label. I know it’s hard to read the darker official ones too, but in the right light they’re still legible.
@@BeatleDustino actually, I was referring to new product - like The Beatles’ new single.
I got that. The lettering on the fake ones is completely illegible. At least on the new Apple labels, like on Now And Then, in the right light and such, it is legible.
Guys, I find a new box set in amazon for 340 dollars what do you think? Is it a good price for the box set?
Seems a little pricey, but it could possibly be a real one. I’d probably search around eBay or Discogs. Look for sellers with pictures and not stock photos.
The magical mystery tour is missing the font on the front that says includes 24 page full colour picture book on the fake
Yes it is. I might have forgot to mention that. Thanks for letting me know.
Thanks for the presentation really useful.
You’re welcome. Beatley Tone actually encouraged me to show this when he learned I had this. I’m glad I did.
Thanks for the information . Much appreciated .
You’re welcome. I’m very glad to help on this. I was so upset when I realized I got burned. I don’t want others to go through the same.
Counterfeit Rubber soul looks like With The Beatles cover but it's in color instead of b/w😭
It does. The print quality on these is so terrible.
@@BeatleDustino And over saturated too
That it is.
awesome content for the novices out there Dustin! hopefully they will research a little before buying these box sets, sadly it's the same old story where a lot of folks simply buy the bullshit of the classic too good to be true price without question or doubt. i've collected music formats, coins, antiques,etc.,etc. all throughout my life and NOT being a wealthy person i've always done my research and learned as much as i can until i'm very comfortable in putting my heard earned money into anything as it just makes sense. i don't want to spend $100 bucks on anything that will never have a value more than $20 bucks and the only way i can understand anyone doing that is if it's totally for sentimental reasons. with that said, i work in the printing industry and can safely say that the shitty artwork(printing) on these fakes is because the makers make copies of existing media which just adds additional generations to the quality so you end up getting washed out, off color, and less detail in the images. there are some fakers out there that will and can from time to time put more effort AND money into their fakes but for the most part the fakes can be weeded out but folks have to really look at the details of everything and do some research, and like you have stated along with a lot of us and couldn't be more true is the simply old school saying of "if it's too good to be true it probably is". keep up the great informative work brother, there is sadly a large number of people out there that need to do some self education to cover their butts. , Jerry \m/ \m/
Glad you enjoyed the video. Sadly I was one of those novices. Hope to prevent others from this happening.
Mine, is fine!
Hey! Glad to hear. Thanks for watching and commenting!
COME TO FATHER by APOLOGETIX a great Beatles parody on RUclips
I’ll have to check that out. Thanks for watching.
Good video- I have one of each, you do make yourself laugh a lot , is there alcohol involved?
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I do laugh a lot. A few years back there might have been alcohol involved, but not a lot anymore. Maybe residual from the past. Not saying I’m dry now though, I’m even contemplating a new channel dedicated to craft breweries and all of them I’ve visited.
Thank you for this, turns out all the items you mentioned are in the fake box I just got on ebay for $85!!! Of course seller doesn't accept refunds but I will use ebay buyers guarantee. Wish me luck!!!
For sure good luck. Did you use PayPal? If so, I know they’re good at going to bat for you with a seller who is being difficult.
Well, 3-4 years later, my unsealed box seems to be the fake one. What do I do with it? Haha.
Sorry to hear that. Even if you recently purchased it there’s not much to do as the sellers usually run.
@@BeatleDustino Yes, the whole package is impressive. Truly a thing of beauty. Alas...
@spencerburke it is expensive though. I totally get it.
I ended up with a fake mono box. Shoddy packaging for sure but the discs are spot on!
So sorry to hear that. Glad though that the disc work fine.
Thanks.
Wow. You got a fantastic price for an authentic one!
Yeah, wasn't sure I would get a legit one but thought I would take the gamble. Either I got a very authentic pirate, or I got the real deal and watching your vid and comparing mine to yours, I'm pretty sure mine is legit.
@randyzingaro1986 very glad to hear that.
Bought a fake box set mono for £30. I just knew it was a counterfeit.
At that price it should be obvious. I was a little naive when I got mine.
The problem is that Apple havn't re - released this set & at a realistic price. Then there wouldn't be sufficient incentive for fake copies.
Very good point. They should reissue it. Especially the vinyl version.
@@BeatleDustino Should do both -Although I have a small vinyl collection, I buy cds

A quick question. Do you know anything about The Beatles in Mono The Complete Mono Recordings

Are you talking about the LP one from the 80’s?
@@BeatleDustino No, it's a box set on Amazon that they say is from EMI for $254.00! Just not sure it is fake or the real thing. Thanks for your reply.

I would guess those are bootlegs. I’m not aware of any official release with two albums on one.
Worth anything ?
They might be. Not sure though. I really don’t dabble too much in bootlegs.
Sound commentary?
They do not sound good at all.
My fake set has the white album discs switched as well.
I might have to double check mine. Not sure if I even made it to the White Album before I got frustrated with it and quit.
You can tell the difference between sealed real and fake boxes very easily, just shake them!! The real box the contents are flush, in the fake they will rattle.
That’s a very good point. Especially if they forget to include the booklet.
@@BeatleDustino even in sealed fakes they rattle with or without the book
@@brianmcneill1972 I can see that. Those fake boxes are no where near the quality, so not as thick of card stock.

@user-si5xq4fv4t yeah. There are a lot out there to complicate things. As for seller. I don’t have anyone in particular. @abel94alcazar will do.
That works. They even faked the USB Apple? 🍏 How does the stem hold up on the fake one?
I never noticed that. Definitely other good tell tale signs. Misspellings.
I Bought the £30 cheap off ebay bout 10 years ago not knowing i was buying a fake until i got it,But it sounded so good i never sent it back,Sod paying £300 or more for it,i wouldnt want it at them Rip Off Prices
If you’re happy with it stick with it. The packaging really drove me crazy on this. As aside from the sound, this box is all about the packaging.
@@BeatleDustino Nothing wrong with the fake packaging either.I would never have bought this even when I did for the rip off EMI price,no way.mine still sounds very good
@alfching2499 if you’re happy with it, stick with it.
i bought mine when it came out and bothare sealed and real
I wish I would’ve been smart and picked these up on initial release.
Ah you did a review on the fake Mono box. After I commented about it under your fake US box set review. 😂😂
Yeah. I ended up with both. 😆
It looks like the discs themselves that came in this fake box set are easy to identify as fakes. Are there some fake mono box sets that have discs that look very good? This could be important for someone that buys a disc only item online.
I’m sure there’s several variations of fakes out there. This is a comparison between the fake box I received and a real one.
@@BeatleDustino Do you know the name of the font used in "IN MONO" on the fake box set?
@ts214121 I do not. I know it’s different. But have no idea the name.
@@BeatleDustino I think it is sans serif after looking at it, the fake font
@ts214121 thanks for letting me know.
i bought an original one on ebay $75.00 the guy won it in a church raffle instead of pulling the holding tray out he cut the top of the box off ruining it found the same type of box and printed my own artwork looked like shit found a set on ebay again for $35.00 i knew it would be a fake but all i wanted was the box quick glance you cannot tell it is a fake on the cd jackets i had to use a glue stick to sea lthem up so the cd's would not fall out the beatles for sale jacket when opened had the biggest mistake the left side was completely blank no liner notes or picture soundwise they were ok except rubber soul the stereo tracks crackled and popped
That’s a pretty good deal. Too bad the other guy wrecked the top though. Good idea using the fake box instead though 👍
@leehale5828 yes it is! I also own a copy of that sampler. I keep it tucked away in my 2009 stereo box set.
Same with me with the LIB box! Kinda pissed...
I like the LIB box. But I don’t really buy bootlegs, so it was all new to me.
Just a fake one through Amazon US and returned it
Oh no! I always heard Amazon was usually safe with this stuff as sellers don’t want 100% of their purchases returned. But I guess that return policy is what makes it safe.
Who was the seller? Name it I found one and I don't know if I should buy it in amazon too
@marciano777010995 Amazon should be safe, but that’s not 100% guaranteed. At least they have a good return policy if it’s fake.
How much does it cost to create a fake cd box set? They can't be making much.
You would think that. I suppose they sell enough though and it adds up.
@@BeatleDustino Do the fakes sound worse than the genuine discs?
@SoloSi2024 depends on the fake. My In Mono fake box sounds horrible. Some disc wouldn’t even play. I had a fake US Albums box too and those sounded as good as the authentic ones.
Sold all my Beatles albums… all for 5 bucks… glad they are gone! 😂
You should have let me know before you sold them.
Why do China and Russia not respect copyright?
That’s a good question. Got plenty of bootlegs from both.
@@BeatleDustino I buy a lot from Discogs and Ebay. If I see the seller is from China or Russia, I avoid. What's wrong with these people? The contrast between China and Japan (when it comes to physical media) is stark. Japanese sellers are meticulous and 100% reliable.
@nlgbbbblth so true. Japanese releases are amazing!
The main difference is the original is mono, the fake is stereo. I have fake, cost me £30 bargain
That’s not a bad price for it. But you really don’t have the mono box if it’s in stereo.
@@BeatleDustino yes, I knew what I was buying, whatever I'm not complaining.
@ianhope3203 if you knew, that’s ok. I didn’t when I got these.
Would never buy a cd
No CD’s at all?
A subtle suggestion.....drop the laughing, we don't get what you are laughing at, plus it makes no sense sense to the viewer however it's a very good overview, just drop the laughing as you are using and losing valuable time!
You’re the first to complain about that. I usually hear comments on how people like that I laugh and not take all too serious. But thanks for the information and I’ll take that into consideration.
Thanks a lot, Dustino (not). I have two Mono Box Sets and BOTH are fake. Didn't make my day.
Oh no. So sorry to hear that. I’m hoping this video can help people to avoid that. But not much I can do if you already have it. Guess we could say third times the charm?!?!?
The way to tell is the shit bag but there are albums n CDs that have them that are legit pink Floyd boots are a big one
Yeah. Those bags are terrible. Pretty tell tale. Especially when you compare them to the legit ones.
