  • Hello friends, I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving last week. I start this video illustrating my TG turkey and it was delicious.
    Next, I mold and cast cemetery fencing which, unlike my other molds, is nested.
    These castings are made for Mr. Brian Ainsworth of Bray Sheetmetal in Little Rock Arkansas.
    Michael Wiggins is the pattern maker who helped us out with this project.
    Stick around and I explain upcoming projects along with announce my new Patreon account. Also, I want to thank my good friend Laura ‪@CastIronGypsy‬ for helping me get Patreon launched.

    These pickets are to replace missing or damaged ones that surround the plot of my friend, Tony Curtis. He rests within the Kirby plot at Mount Holly cemetery in Little Rock, Arkansas. This fencing is actually original to Tony’s residence 3 blocks away. The skill and care by everyone involved in this process is heartwarming. For those that knew Tony, he would love that this 136 fence was being preserved by others just as he would have done himself.

    Amazing how you heated up four brake rotors and miraculously they transformed into a roasted turkey.

    I naively thought that once you had a pattern a foundry could knock out lots of castings with no trouble. But it's amazing how much time and skill goes into making the mould.

    I think it's amazing that you manage to video and get work done - it's surprisingly time consuming just setting up shots let alone all the other stuff like lighting and sound etc, etc. You have an impressive operational workshop and great skills. - That turkey looked perfect :-)

    A LOT of people have to understand that the time required to make a project is probably more than DOUBLED when you're filming and explaining what you're doing! Your output would probably be double if you weren't filming it! Several other RUclipsrs have admitted this - even Keith Rucker!
    I bet Keith will be happy to have that counterweight and get Jimmy's bandsaw finally finished and out of his shop!

    You are two businesses - a foundry business and a film making business. Both should make money. Maybe the film business could support the foundry business, but that is rare.

    Great job on the pickets and on the turkey, I knew you were going to use that kiln to cook a turkey! I just knew it! I used to cook our Thanksgiving turkey in the ground - Look up "imu" - Hawaiian version of a ground oven. We moved to a more suburban location and the smoke the imu creates would probably upset our neighbors.

    I have to admit I didn't see the turkey coming. BTW: A little trick I learned from a restaurant owner who cooked 4-5 turkeys a day. He taught me to always cook turkeys breast "Down". The reason is when cooked traditionally breast up all the white breast meat drys out and easily over cooks. Cook it with the breast down and all the dark meat which is where all the fats and oils are, now are on top. As it cooks all those oils and fats will liquefy and soak into the white breast meat. Now youll find only a fraction of oils and fats in the tray because they've all stayed in the meat. It will be some of the richest, juiciest breast meat you'll ever taste.
    Try it, it really works, enjoy!

    As long as the lid stays on the turkey I'd assume the steam would keep any possibly problematic vapors from making their way into the meat, if you were cooking on a grate maybe it would be a problem.

    • @royreynolds108
      @royreynolds108 7 месяцев назад +1

      THE problem with deep friers for cooking a turkey is remembering to account for the volume of the bird in the oil so the oil doesn't overflow when the bird is lowered into the pot. That will creat a bad day.
