    Another great video Clarke. It is interesting that what would seem to be a simple part can be a multi pour challenge. Thanks for sharing!

    Hey Clarke, a little trick I picked up from one of Sandrammer's videos - when you were cutting out the riser with that piece of pipe, if you gave the sand inside the pipe a couple thumps with something like the handle of that mini bat I've seen you using in some of your older videos, it'd tighten up that plug of sand enough that you'd get the whole thing out with the pipe on the first try every time. I don't know if this will help you, but it's saved me a ton of aggravation when cutting out my Olfoundryman-style offset pouring basins.
    Casting looks and ought to work great. It'll be a nice touch on that monster of a saw. Eagerly looking forward to the capstan videos!

    I hope you found the dogs and they were ok. We had some really bad wind here as well when the front came through.

    Those rejects make pretty decent boat anchors i guess😊
    Do you think the original also might have had some shrinkage that was hidden with some filler? The main bandsaw casting also had a decent bit of filler on it if i recall correctly.
    Either way its a good looking counterweight.

    Can you make your castings looks less rough ?

    • @kindabluejazz
      @kindabluejazz 11 месяцев назад +2

      Yes he can. He can use finer finish sand in the mold. He does that extra step when needed.

    Have you tried curing sodium silicate cores in the microwave? Folks on the model engine forum reported this method is an alternative to CO2?
