  • This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. In this personal narrative about fencing, braving established rules and facing the odds, Tim Morehouse explains how we can allow ourselves to have awkward moves and win. His motto: "Master Fencing, Master Life".
    Tim is one of the country’s top athlete entrepreneurs and social innovators. Honored by the White House as a Champion For Change and named one of America’s Top 50 Philanthropists, Tim leverages his unique background as an Olympic Silver Medalist and Teach for America alum to impact lives across the country.
    From elementary school in East Harlem, NY, Tim’s modest beginnings ingrained both a relentless work ethic and passion to catalyze social change. Tim is the founder of Fencing In The Schools, a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching life skills to students across America using the sport of fencing.
    Tim has spoken at the United Nations, The White House and at countless Fortune 500 companies. He taught President Obama to fence on the White House lawn and he is an author, a Huffington Post blogger, an experienced television host, and he has executive produced numerous live and televised events.
