Hometown refereeing is not racism is national bias and discrimination depending on the two countries that are participating, for real example look at the first andrade vs bute fight
Volg can fight any style hes very well rounded but we remember Sendo got outboxed and outlanded through most of the rounds. Highway robbery. The other examples as well with Miyata in Thailand and Anderson's role post WW2 in Japan is interesting how the Hajime no Ippo tackles "racism". All of it is a reflection of how the sport is unfortunately and favoritism.
bro if hajime no ippo thinks throwing candy is racist y dont they think making comfort women entertain them or else die is racist? Edit: Japan always wants to victimise itself e.g the girl was dying of cancer because of hiroshima bomb and it was amercans oppressing Japan (Japan tortured American POWs). It's also how Hajime no ippo portray thai as very rude (they throw stuff) when Thailand was basically a japanese puppet colony.

America is simply taking notes, the bombs were dropped cuz the japanese REFUSED to surrender and were preparing to arm their civillians with rifles to fight and die till the last man. The americans predicted millions of deaths on both sides incase of a mainland invasion of japan. The Bombs were more of a last resort than anything, they didnt want another Berlin situation with the volkssturm. Though it doesnt seem impossible to think there were racist men in the American Military, especially since the term ''Jap'' was used as a deragotary slur towards the japanese by americans alot after Pearl Harbor and the declaration of war. Sergeant Anderson is definetly somewhat of an exaggeration though.
There was also a moment before Ippo vs Jason fight when Kamogawa stated that black people are naturally more powerful because of more developed muscles and some people thought that this is a hint that in the past blacks were slaves and therefore they are genetically strong.
How many hoops did you have to jump through to get to that conclusion? Race DOES play a role in sports, that is just a fact. If you wanna learn more about this, there is a video called "the role race plays in sports" by a guy called B4 Flex.
@ thx mate, I’ll definitely watch it out of curiosity, but that’s not my conclusion. I said “some people thought”, me personally I don’t consider it racism and I do agree that most of the time race determines your potential in sports.
The takamura and Bryan hawk confrontation reminds noaya inoue and Stephen Fulton the Americans boxing fans especially the black community was disrespecting Noaya Inoue
I support this video but I don't agree with most of the points. Nationalism, home town bias, racial stereotypes and racism are different things but, HNI has instances of clear racism, a reflection of the mind's manga writter, like the time Ippo first saw a picture of Ozuma and Ippo was freaking out, I wonder why, and Kamogawa talking how black fighters have more "rapid twitch muscles" than japonesse fighter... yeah. Love the anime regardless.
How is that racism? Ippo was intimidated because he was still a rookie and never fought a foreigner, Ozuma was slightly taller than him, making a gag about him having this threatening aura, when in reality he's just a passionate boxer with a heart of gold. Most of the arc they talk about them in a respectful way and not idolizing black people as if they're just built for combat.
Aoki doing blackface in the manga💀
it was probably for the better, i actually laughed so hard reading that chapter

That final flashback arc is one of the best in anime history. Story was dark, animation was goated and the ending was bitter sweet. Great video btw !

Black people are usually more muscular
Kamogawa saying that is not racist. It’s the equivalent of calling an Asian person Asian, or a black person black. Aoki though…
