Agree to this day it is Night's best movie and one of the best thrillers of all time but facts are the Academy for whatever reason does not recognise horror or overlooks it which sucks but it seems like they do not take it seriously

Why does this have three dislikes and two likes? ... Shyamalan made some of the best films of the past twenty years. Unbreakable is a masterpiece. 'One of the great masterpieces of our time' Quentin Tarantino said. So when Shyamalan gives an interview that essentially says 'I love movies. I love making movies.' Why is he getting negativity in response? Mozart said - Love, love, love, that is the soul of genius. Why is one of the only good filmmakers around being penalised for it?

It doesn't help that the guy only made 2 good films and the rest were shit, and the fact that this guy has such a massive ego that overshadows his passion. This is the guy who cast himself as a writer whose work would save the world in his own movie, for God's sake.

+FranticAnimations - Or maybe he's simply using the metaphor that the power of writing can save/change the world, the same way the Bible changed the world. The Bible needn't be real, so long as people believed in its story. Shyamalan is always playing with metaphors, just as his film The Happening is one enormous metaphor that 90% of the masses were too retarded to notice. 'It's just about plants' people said. No, it isn't about plants at all. Stephen King cited it as a terrific film, and I'm more inclined to listen to Stephen King's opinion than the majority of dumbasses who consider themselves experts because they have a subscription to netflix.

Just because Stephen King said it was, doesn't make it so. Though The Happening was meant to be a parody somewhat, it even failed at that.
Talking crap about the bible doesn't help your argument either. The power of writing? What power? He has passion, great. He's still ego driven and his films have a fuck ton of problems, from the camera set ups to the direction of actors to the storylines. He sucks. End of.

His camera is some of the best going by far. Most Directors have three or more cameras shooting at once nowadays, and afterwards they hand their footage to the editor to chop up. Shyamalan meticulously storyboards his films, his camera setups being first class, often full of depth. The Happening wasn't a parody, it was a metaphor for love and the decline of Capitalism. His storylines don't have a fuckton of problems - as opposed to something like The Force Awakens (You can see my review of that film in my channel.) His direction of actors is beautifully precise, and if you think he's made TWO good films, then how can you declare that he sucks? How many Directors do you know who have written AND directed more than two good films?

How many have more than 2 good films? Err, quite a few.
      - Stanley Kubrick
      - John Carpenter
      - Michael Mann
      - Chris Nolan
      - Denis Villeneuve
      - John Milius
      - Quentin Tarantino
      - David Cronenberg
      - David Lynch
      - Werner Herzog
      - David Ayer
      - David Mamet
      - Sam Peckinpah
      - Sergio Leone
      - Sergio Corbucci
      - Clint Eastwood
      - Mel Gibson
      Etc, etc, etc....
Yeah, The Happening has themes. It's explored horribly though. The bad acting, the awkward "actors in C.U looking into lens" shots he does in EVERY movie with no visual langauge presented apart from being "different" and the terrible logic of people running from the fucking wind.
