The whole “strange is super dangerous” sub plot that had the illuminati was cool. Then they were dispatched by some shitty evil dead cgi. If the movie was longer and focused on one thing like a dynamic relationship between strange and himself, with Chavez; then it would be good. But I think it was a big missed opportunity

Going back here and rewatching the theory after seeing the movie really puts a smile on my face. MatPat calling out possibilities in a movie makes the movie much more interesting as you already have added information based on Team Theorists research. I say that’s a HUGE W for Team Theorist. I get the idea of not wanting to make Wanda disliked as a female character, but everything I have seen people say about Wanda is that they are very excited to make her a villain. Having women in respected roles does mean they can’t be villains, it just means they also deserve to be well written and thought out. I for one would love to see Wanda become a villain or antihero. Her character is classical tragic and that’s not a bad thing to explore.

Thing is, Wanda stans are going to be just batshit with defending her fave out of all the damage she does or will do with hypocritical arguments. But your comment as a whole Is perfect to explain that MeToo and the studies about women representation doesn't mean change every character to be just one or two types of character, which really goes against the whole "representation" part.
I don't want Wands to be a villain not because of feminism, because it takes away from ALL the character development from her show. if she becomes a villain, it shows that she can never move on and that the events of WV are pointless. I think it's hella more strong to have Wanda come out from the side of villainy into heroism once again, showing everyone that she will not let her grief control her. That's far more powerful.

Something to keep in mind. Agatha said she’s stronger than the Sorcerer Supreme. Wong is currently the Sorcerer Supreme so they wrote themselves a little loophole. We don’t actually know if she’s stronger than Dr. Strange. My money is on Wanda for sure but they left themselves the way out on purpose for sure.

You could be right, the sorcerer supreme is tied to a couple principles, now that he is no longer the sorcerer supreme he may have more freedom and maybe will try doing different stuff.

Sorcerer Supreme is not a person it's more like a title, Scarlet Witch, who is a nexus being, will always be more powerful than Sorcerer Supreme, no matter who holds the title
@@assadarlingtoniTrue Agatha could have just been making a generalization about Sorcerer Supremes in general. I do think Scarlet Witch is more powerful than Strange regardless. Just thought it was interesting they made the comparison but then diluted it later when they tell us Wong is the Sorcerer Supreme. Also I’d say not all Sorcerer Supremes are equivalently strong or skilled. I’d say Strange has a lot more power and skill than Wong.
Rewatching this episode after watching Multiverse of Madness and this is definitely the universe where matpat's theories are correct

How do we know for sure that the "evil" Dr. Strange is actually a villainous doppleganger. The trailer doesn't necessarily imply he has any sinister agenda. Just because he's got a maniacal smile, doesn't exactly mean he's an antagonist. The only justification would be the whole Sm Raimi having made a bad guy clone of Ash in the Evil Dead series. Otherwise it could just be Strange Supreme from the What If series who is more experienced and knowledgeable about the multiverse making him an invaluable ally to the main live action Dr. Strange.
there is also another way to say that he isn't exactly evil: While he says "isn't this a predicament?" to Strange, it doesn't necessarily make him evil. If anything, he could just be saying "Isn't this a predicament? Luckily... i can help with that..."
I mean, they did say something along the lines of 'your worst enemy is yourself', heavily implying it, but Marvel does love their misdirects

To add to the theory at the end there, there is Marvel Legends figure which is ANOTHER variant of Strange called "Defender Strange" which has a lot of ties to comics, including the Illuminati. What could that Strange be defending? None other than the Multiverse.

Yeah but last time he used the runes of Kafh-kal (the memory spell) to cover up some party, Wong had forgotten but Strange still remembers what happened. So I'm not sure if he used a different spell at the end of NWH or if he still remembers.

You may have forgotten that he has those rings so that the caster (him) will not be affected when doing the spell, like the voice that said "your desecration of reality will not go unpunished" meaning he and peter parker are the only one's un affected by the spell in his universe.
@@1AngeloGabatbat No, he said 'we will all forget you' when explaining the ramifications to Peter, which means he also forgets. He also is meant to forget in the original spell, and Peter does ask him to cast the original spell, only changing the fact that everyone forgets Peter as a person, too.

Agatha did say that she was more powerful than the sorcerer supreme. At the time however, Wong took over as the sorcerer supreme. While I don’t doubt that Wong is powerful, I think this detail points away from a Strange V Wanda battle.

I think the darkhold meant that the Scarlett witch is just destined to be above all the mystic arts users. Of course with strange learning chaos magic that could change but as is now Wanda is definitely above strange

Could that scene with Wanda having blackened fingers be a different version of her from the multiverse? This trailer already set up that there are different versions of these characters coming in, so it's certainly possible. Plus her costume is different in that scene, and it seems strange to give her a new one so soon after the costume change at the end of WandaVision. I know it's not much to go off of, but I thought I'd put it out there.

I think it’s a possibility, especially if they don’t want to have a montage of Strange being Wanda’s superior in terms of magic to explain it to her, to get her to that point. That “dark” Wanda from the trailer seems far more comfortable with her powers than Wanda is at the end of WandaVision, after all.
@@shaks828 Honestly, they kinda wrote themselves into a corner with that bit, given that she IS in What If? (the Zombies episode), so there's definitely absolutely 100% more than one Wanda.
Maybe her specific designation as "the Scarlet Witch" is what's unique? Sort of like in Spider-Verse (the comic not the movie) there are certain unique totems that join with different spider-people throughout the universe, most famous one being The Other. There's only one The Other in the multiverse, but it jumps from host to host -- at one point 616 Peter was The Other, then Kaine became The Other, etc. But 616 Peter and Kaine still exist even when not possessed by The Other, and they have countless variants who are not The Other.
If there's an evil Wanda variant (I kinda like this idea), then she could for instance want to become the Scarlet Witch herself and replace our Wanda. It's kinda a "have your cake and eat it too" -- we get the evil Wanda who fulfills Agatha's prophecy, but OUR Wanda still says clean and can continue to appear as a hero.

Back from the movie. SPOILER below. But quick thoughts. Good movie, not great. The trippy visuals was the best thing. More so than many other movies you kind of felt that it was rewritten and had major reshoots, and I'm not sure it made the movie better.
Yeah, quite a few things in the theory was pretty spot on.
* Illuminati makes an appearance.
* Cameos (well one big one, the one we knew from the trailer)
* Introduction of new characters (Reed Richards got a big "WOOOOOO" in the theatre)
* Variants from What If (Captain Carter, and Strange Supreme)
* Dr strange protecting America Chavez and running through portals from the big bad.
* Wanda wanting America Chavez power to search for her kids and beeing the villain
* Wanda beeing ridiculously OP and more powerful than the sorcerer supreme.
* Wanda not entirely to blame since she was corrupted by dark magic and redemes herself in the end.
I do think there might have been a lot more cameos before the reshoots, and the Iliuminati plotline was a bit off and very rushed and had zero consequence other than show that MCU have Fantastic Four and X-men, just not in the main universe (yet).

Let me just remind everyone of an integral part: Multiverse of Madness was supposed to happen BEFORE no way home and was RE WRITTEN because of all the delays in production. So this means that anything can happen. Wanda may have caused the Multiverse of Madness when it was set before NWH but now it is clearly caused by Dr Strange and Peter. So now, we don't know if Wanda would still be the villain or an ally. The Rewrite caused this.

"Your power exceeds that of the sorcerer supreme" might refer to Wong, since we learned that he was made sorcerer supreme when Strange was dusted. Another option is the Ancient One, since it hasn't been far too long since she died, and maybe not all people are aware of the event.

I personally think dark doesn't mean evil, and that the 'evil' doctor strange is a misdirect for people who haven't watched What If and how ultimately he did what he did out of love and not malice or corruption. He'll show MCU Doctor Strange what he went through and guide him against it.

Ya I feel like Marvel in many ways has toyed with the idea that good or bad is a perspective and can be circumstancial. Age of Ultron and Civil War are a great example where people in the world literally see the Avengers as destructive super villains. It's like, ya they're heroes....for ultimately saving the world. So we may think they're good. But anyone who gets the negative impact or who has no idea what is actually going on in the grand scheme of things (aka non-super beings) can easily see their actions as bad.

I'll rate this 7/10, his theory is pretty close, I mean most of it maybe 80% of it was right. for a theory video, this is pretty good (just lacking the small details). If I was to rate it as a theory video, not how much accurate it is, I'll give it 9/10

To be fair, Wong is the sorcerer Supreme currently. And he also was the sorcerer supreme when Agatha told Wanda that she's stronger than him. So we can't be sure if Wanda is stronger than Strange. Which is reeeally interesting.
Considering the Darkhold is a book written by dark magic that knows everything that has happened and will happen, I'm sure it meant Dr. Strange since he's destined to be not just A Sorcerer Supreme but THE Sorcerer Supreme
She already has more raw power and more destructive power than he does.
There is no doubt Wanda is currently the most powerful avenger rn but Strange's upper hand is that he is much more versatile...that's why a battle between these two is interesting

I really hope Wanda is the villain. I think it’s an interesting development of her character, to see her go from this hero, to a person who lost everything, to someone willing to do anything to get it all back. That’s really compelling to me, and would add a dimension to her as a villain that most marvel villains lack.

idk feels like going backwards to me - because she's already BEEN a villain, before she was a hero. and going back to villainy now would actually ruin her character, bc that's not the mindset she had at the end of wandavision, it's not in line with the things she went through and the decisions she made. she didn't even lose her family this time, she gave them up willingly for the wellbeing of the people she brainwashed. whatever solution she's looking for, she's not gonna pick one that harms others, because she already had that option and she rejected it, multiple times.

Let Mordo be the main villain, they had already set that up and it would be great to see Strange struggling on how to deal with an old friend gone rogue. I still believe House of M is still happening sooner or later. With Spiderman:NWH being a huge success and is a movie where Marvel gave what the fans wanted, the House of M is still an open possibility. Marvel has seen the potential of giving what the fans wanted and especially if done right.
Plus, they need a way to reintroduce the Xmen and the Fantastic 4 into the main MCU. They just can't ignore a pivotal storyline like House of M.

I don't know how I feel about this video, now that I watched Multiverse of Madness.
It would be neat to have Wanda become an anti-hero, I'm not sure if she would be a total villian since she just wants to have her family... not really wishing harm to anyone in particular.
Also, the writers do have a loophole for a battle between Wanda and Strange. You would think Wanda will win since "shes more powerful than the sorcerer supreme", but Dr. Strange isn't the sorcerer supreme anymore, Wang is.
So Strange might be skilled enough to neutralize Wanda, who knows...
I'm on team Strange, he's one of the heroes I really like as characters alongside Spiderman and Hawkeye :)

Wong is.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that Strange and Wanda won’t face off against each other.
In fact, it could help explain the decision to have Wong take on the title on NWH:
The writers wanted to retroactively refute the claim Agatha made in Wandavision, so that the victor of any fight between Wanda and Strange isn’t a foregone conclusion.
The darkhold is ever changing and written centuries ago, the darkhold doesn’t speak about the current sorcerer supreme. It speaks of the one who holds the title of sorcerer supreme.

That's pretty dumb that they've written out Dr.strange at the end of wandadivision just because they assumed it would take away from Wandas strong character, even though Wanda is already a strong character to begin with, the fact that they thought it would be taking away from her is more telling on their part on developing her as a character. But I don't know, it just doesn't seem like it needed to be taken away from, it could have just been a tiny teaser, all the focus would still be on Wanda.
I guess it depends on what he was meant to do. Imagine if his appearance was like "okay now I cast a couple spells and BAM Westview's over and Agatha is no longer a threat". It would damage the show because fans would think "oh so it could have been solved this easily?"

I would have LOVED to see Dr Strange in Wandavison, but as it was written 1000% keeping Strange out was the right decision. The finale sets up these two powerful women, one ancient, the other young and just coming into her power. This was Wanda's story. She needed to be the one to end it. Having Dr Strange come in and basically mansplain magic to these two incredibly powerful women would have just been a really bad look. Like yeah, let's let the big strong man come and calm these hysterical women down and show them how magic really works. The finale was great the way it was. Strange would have under cut her.

Why does a character need to be good to be beloved? A villain can be Just as loved a hero, sometimes more, would be more interesting, to me at least, having her start out as bad and Messing up the multiverse trying to get her family back and ending with her turning to the side of good realizing It's not worth it

A points to note here:
1) “Stronger than the Sorcerer Supreme” means she would be stronger than Wong since at that point he is the Sorcerer Supreme because Strange was blipped, so it’s not televising a clash between Wanda and Strange
2) the evil Strange could be a variant of Strange Supreme so that he wasn’t redeemed
3) Strange won’t remember Peter because the spell made EVERYONE other than Peter in the universe forget who Peter was, so if he was wanting to help a kid in over their head about the multiverse it would be subconscious unless Peter somehow returns to Strange’s memory after the events of NWH

The me too movement had nothing to do with anything related to house of m, directly or indirectly. Grief stricken mother who wants her family back isn’t exactly a storyline exclusive to women. We got something incredibly similar with kingpin in into the spider verse. I don’t see how it would be seen as sexist, in any light. Wanda can be the villain in multiverse of madness. Arguably, the more sexist thing is saying she can’t.
I know, both men and women (any other classified gender) can be villain or hero. It should not be based on what there biology or classification is. It should fit the narrative, story arc, actions, and history of the character. Something like wanting her children back after losing everyone she had ever loved is understandable. She has the ability to do it so she would should take that option. I support equality like them but I think they are missing the equal part. Equal means that no one is treated differently and are all treated with respect. Females should be equal to males but not be overly better because then they are just doing the problem in reverse. If Wanda was a boy they most likely wouldn’t be complaining which is something I don’t understand. She can showcase how powerful she is whatever road she takes and by being the villain she can showcase that without any limits. IDK but I think she would be amazing as a villain but even if she is not we will love her anyway.

I agree, but at the same time I think the writers should be smarter than that. The woman goes crazy because she has power is such a tired trope. Give us something smarter and more interesting.

Just came back from watching the movie. Kudos to you, my friend. You actually got it right
I think you’re forgetting a very common movie trope: if the villain says something, they’re wrong. So far, in the MCU, the people who have called Wanda a villain and tried to subdue her have been Ross, Hayward and Agatha, while those who have believed in Wanda have been Hawkeye, Cap America and Monica Rambeau. Having her become a villain now or ever is saying “Guess we misjudged those guys, they were the real heroes.”. For that reason alone I believe Wanda will never again be a villain.
My guess is that she will begin helping Dr Strange, then see an opening to grab her kids out of that universe in which they were calling her from, Dr Strange will oppose and she will abandon him to persue this and that will probably get the plot moving in terms of him being lost between universes and running into America Chavez.
But eventually, Wanda will return, maybe with her kids helping, and all collaborate to defeating whatever foe they’re facing. Then she’ll bring her boys back, because how else would they be in Young Avengers?!?!?

Nah. If Wiccan and Speed are going to be in YA, I DON'T WANT them to be Maximoffs raised by Wanda. The twins grew up separately and with different surnames in the comics (Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepherd). And they have differing backgrounds and experiences too: Billy grew up Jewish, while Tommy didn't. Removing those backstories for the sake of simplicity is what fears me the most if Marvel Studios has plans to adapt the Young Avengers.

Hearing that we'll never get to see House of M, saddened me to no limit. That was one of the best storylines. Chilling to the bone. Knowing that we'll never get to hear "No more mutants" from a broken Wanda in that tone of voice, in a movie, is a saddening thing.
