    Marvel's newest addition to its cinematic universe, Ant-Man, hides a disturbing secret in its physics. In saving his loved ones from utter destruction, does Ant-Man actually destroy us all, taking the world as we know it with him? I think we've just uncovered the truth that Ant-Man is in fact Marvel's deadliest hero!

    The MCU doesn't mention this but in the comics, the Pym particles actually MANIPULATE matter itself by moving it in and out of another dimension, so that way when he needed to punch he could be of his own weight but when on ants, he can be light.

    *THEORY INCORRECT*
    Black holes do not "suck in" matter. Matter falls in due to gravity, but since the black hole only has the mass of one Scott Lang, it would only have the gravitational pull of one Scott Lang. The black hole has a region where not even light can escape, but as it was said, that region is smaller than an atom. For the most part, the gravitational field would not be strong enough to pull atoms away from molecules, and definitely wouldn't be strong enough to pull in matter. So no, an Ant Man black hole would not destroy the world. What would happen, though, is that Scott would fall into the center of the Earth and be trapped forever.

    • @gmchris3752
      @gmchris3752 8 лет назад +141

      +Noah Fence The black hole would, however, veeery slowly pick up mass until it became a problem. He wouldn't have doomed his daughter, but might have doomed his great, great, great, great grandchildren. That is, unless they lived in the sort of world where superscience could create godlike beings that could solve the problem, but that's just silly...

      Yes, but at that point we've passed out of the realm of general relativity and into quantum gravity, and we're not completely sure WHAT happens at that level. Gravity as we know it might cease to apply at all.
      There is also the possibility that be would become a naked singularity, depending on his charge, which would revolutionize astronomy, astrophysics, string theory- the list is too long to count.

      Same for me as well. Though admittingly for me ....I never looked deeply into the channel to find Game Theory on my own.....it took YT suggesting GT after I watched a few videos of people playing games (I forgot specifically who hence why I said it like that) for me to get a suggestion for any Game Theory episode. Even after that it somehow took me a while to realize that the host of Game Theory was the same as Film theory 🙈. I think it's because most of the game theory episodes had him directly in front of the camera instead of the cut out of a photo that he uses here (or at the time he used it here a lot more 😅).

    easy explanation: there is more to the Pym Particle than that one sentence Hank said to Scott. Pym gave Scott a quick, one-sentence explanation of how the science behind the Pym Particle works. that can hardly be called strict rules. he said the thing about the distance between the atoms but there is obviously much more to it. Hank wasn't going to sit there for hours and explain his life's work to Scott.

    The same reason he can violet he law of physics and bend the weak force (maybe), strong force (maybe), photon/electromagnetic force (the force that determines the distance between the particles in atoms), and the higs boson/the particle that makes mass exists, makes him able to violate gravity. If he can violate some of the 3 strongest quantum forces, though the movie also seems to magic away atoms or have the magical appear, then he can probably have gravity bend to his will, a force weaker than photons. The movie is also very inconsistent with the bending of atom count/density and it’s mass/higs boson.

    The thing that makes me wonder is how did you think of this and hank didn’t, so maybe he already thought of this and found a way around it like if his muscles contract he can control the amount of force he exerts, the cracked tile could be explained by his natural weight picking up speed as if he did in real life, and it makes sence because if he fell from the same height he did from the bathtub to the floor then he could have possibly done that, I had high school CP Physics and that enough to find this math out. Although I’m not going to do this unless people actually still read these so let me know if you would like to know the math behind his fall and the cracked tile.

    if the distence between atom changes and the particles changes does the energy of holding the parts of neutrons and protons change two because that would also change the mas

    I remember watching the movie with a friend of mine who also studied physics. Our immediate resolution to the scientific problems in the pym particle concept was to to change their mode of operation: Thy affect the interaction of the color charges between the subatomic quarks. Thereby, they could actually change the mass and avoid most of the problems.

    For those wondering In the comics, Hank Pym's Pym Particles work by interfacing with a parallel dimension (the Kosmos dimension) and shifting mass back and forth between the two dimensions. When an object shrinks here, it's extra mass is shunted off to Kosmos, and when it grows here, the extra mass is pull in from Kosmos.
    However, that’s the comics, not this movie.

    It really annoyed me in Civil War, when Ant-Man entered Tony's suit, because how in the world did Tony not feel instantly heavy? And when he became larger, how did he not just fly away? Glad you talked about it.

    yes but you forgot according to the comics pym particles not only alter the size of atoms but shunting matter to a cosmos dimension when shrinking and add matter from the dimension when growing and they bypass the square cube law

    I have a bet with my friend, and I’m making a whole big explanation on why ant-man makes sense, and it is written in some of the comic books that he’s able to store mass in another dimension, storage of organic material might be a problem, so that may be why dr Cross had such a hard time finding out how to not make organic material into blobs of «something». If this is the case, ant-man would be sort of plausible with some more advanced technology developed in the marvel universe

  • @avoprim5028
    @avoprim5028 2 месяца назад +1

    12:00 - Matthew, the shrinking explanation from the Marvel Comics was actually way simpler than in the movie. In the comics, when an object changes size, the mass of the object itself changes with the size of the object.
