You said this is were "where the mechanical signals have not yet said their last word." I'd add were not all grade crossings have gates. Coming from the US, where gates are not common in rural areas, I'm always surprised at how common the are in your videos.
An interesting journey through rural France. Some of those station stops had absolutely basic platforms for passengers to use. One of the stations offered nothing more than a grass verge. You'd get wet feet on a rainy day.

Petite question : à 29:50, en gare de Cravant Bazarne, qu'est-ce qui indique au Conducteur qui est dirigé vers Clamecy et non vers Avallon ? (il y a bien un TLD à 31:10 mais il concerne la sortie du faisceau d'où ma question 🤔)
Bonjour, rien n’indique au conducteur qu’on est bien dirigé, on le sait que lorsque l’on passe l’aiguille..
Vu que c’est une voie Unique, les gares de Cravant et Clamecy sont obligés de communiquer pour savoir si la voie est bien libre, très peu de chance que le poste se trompe au niveau de l’aiguillage…

I was in Clamecy on Sunday with a direct train from Paris Bercy
Très belle vidéo qui nous fait découvrir cette magnifique ligne.
La voie est en très bon état ce qui fait plaisir à voir.
Malheureusement ce n'est plus le cas de celle d'Avallon à Autun
qui a été abandonnée.

I think you're being too general: the current situation in France does not reflect on the efficiency of French railways historically.
Also, a rural line is not a LGV.

I think that the radial connections (from Paris) are correct, although expensive by TGV.
On the other hand, regional connections are often mediocre.
On the one hand, within the same region, the relations are multiplied in a multitude of "short distance" routes with the need for numerous correspondences (for example: Dijon Besançon + Dijon Belfort + Belfort Mulhouse etc.).
The worst is at the inter-regional level. Each region ignores the contiguous region.

zu 15:36 Da an den Bahnhöfen weiterhin das Video beschnitten ist, so stoppe ich jedes mal das Video an den Bahnhöfen, und lege für einige Minuten eine Warte-Pause ein, ( _wo die Leute aussteigen und einsteigen_ ), da diese Ruhepausen mit zur Fahrt gehören, als nur momentan stehen bleiben und sofort wieder los fahren.
Ich sag dazu: Wer nicht warten will, kann ja mit der Pfeiltaste vor springen.

It is really interesting seeing how quaint and overgrown these rural platforms are. There is also vey obvious evidence that the whole line used t be dual track so do you know when it was singled and why? I also assume you mean these trains are DEMUs? Thanks the video either way.
It does look like it used to be double tracked.. I'll have to look into that. You're right, I forgot the Diesel part 😄
