This happened about a month ago but the retired Canadian Coast Guard Vessel 'Matthew' was towed to Amhersburg, ON to be converted to a floating restaurant and get accommodations for an Air BnB. The Matthews was built in 1990, which is quite young compared to the other CCGS like the Limnos and Griffon, but it's still nice having an "old" boat get a new lease on life, just as long as it stays like that and doesn't flop like many other preserved ships as of lately.
Update: The Cuyahoga has caught fire again, this time while docked in Ashtabula (Ash-ta-bew-la) harbor. Welding repairs in the holds caught many layers of paint on fire, which spread to the big unloading conveyor. The old girl may be done, depending on the extent of the damage and the owner's view of repairing it. 😢
Nice video, Connor Tenold! Wow! 1943 was a bundle of years ago. It's good to see that the old girl is back in service. Calcite, Michigan on the shores of Lake Huron, is where the worlds largest limestone mine and limestone processing plant are. Detroit is an interesting city. They have some great pizza, there. Little Caesar's is based in Detroit but, I don't think their pizza is the best.
I am curious as to how much on the inside was changed after the repairs and such, and I am glad that she is back in action, 80 years old and kicking alongside the Alpena/Leon and Lee/Walter.
Comment any news you have heard on the lakes
I get my news from you dude!! Haha

She recently caught fire. Her self unloader appeared to be damaged. We might have to wish her goodbye. I can't believe she keeps catching fire..

Ash-ta-byoo-la
Informative video, thank you.
Just one small criticism from an Ohioan: the pronunciation of Ashtabula should be ash-tuh-byew-luh, not ash-tab-yew-luh.
Thanks for the correction!
