When I saw Adam Scott with this thing at the Masters, I thought it was the ugliest price of golf equipment I've ever seen...and yes the black version is just as ugly!
I shot 70s with hand me downs in high school and my team tied for 1st in the Kentucky state championship. 20 years later I have a $3000 bag and I'm lucky to break 90 😆
Just my two cents' worth: I have the 2.1 LAB myself, and i feel it's worth the money for several reasons - 1) the tech is real, if you don't yip with your hands the putter won't veer off line; 2) it's a club i use on 99.9% of all the golf holes i play; 3) after I got my putter and got a feel for the speed of it (i've had it 2 years now), i'm so spoiled to the smooth balance that other more traditional putters bother me because i can feel the effort i have to make to hold the face square through the stroke now. I quite literally cannot imagine putting another putter in play. At this point i believe it'll be in my bag for the rest of my life. Compare that to the the $500-$600 priced drivers that come out virtually every year, and how folks change those things out AT LEAST every 3-5 years, it's a real bargain. Plus, the honeymoon period for new drivers doesn't last all that long. I've seen guys hit new drivers great, and gush over the results, and later on hit them so poorly and so wildly they have to be thinking about why they spent that sort of money. And to top it off, the drivers today are so fragile, they struggle to withstand regular range sessions before you start seeing face cracks. And I, too, am one of the idiots that starts looking after about 3-5 years :) Damn marketers
Hopefully you see this. Can you scoop the ball up with that putter? I know the Mezz can't do it. I also haven't been able to find a location with the link in stock to try it out. For the price I want performance and convenience.

In my opinion, Peter, having watched your videos over the last few years, the best that you have putted in your posted videos is when you had the DF 2.1 in your bag. It's a shame that you can't get over your mental hurdles to use the equipment that provides the best results.
@@universalwinkey99 his observation makes him a prick? I would agree that Pete did putt better with it in the bag, but he said he couldn’t get over the looks of it. Maybe you never watched the video, but maybe you should inform yourself before you retort to name calling.
I bought a DF2.1 after watching your review. That was within weeks of getting a Scotty Cameron squareback. After a ton of back-to-back comparisons I realized that the DF2.1 was way better than the Scotty, for me. So the practically new Scotty collects dust while I game the LAB. I was never offended by the looks of the DF2.1. I actually think that some of the other high MOI putters look worse. Plus, when putts start dropping or the misses end up tap-in distance from the hole, that shape starts looking really good. Because I like the DF2.1, and the positive comments I've heard about the Mezz, I placed an order for a Mezz a few weeks ago. Sure, it's not a cheap club. But it's still in the same price range as a new driver and I'll use it about 30 times per round as opposed to 14. And it will actually have a bigger impact on the last number I write on my score card. Also, that's the price for a custom fit club, not just one from the rack.
The Mezz showed up a few days ago. It's way more compact than the DF2.1. In fact, it's smaller than my TM spider putter (1st generation). I spent some time on my Birdie Ball putting mat to get familiar with it and compare it to the DF and my other putters. I was worried than I would have more trouble aligning the putter because it has a small alignment line, especially compared to the DF which has a white, full-length line. It feels denser than the DF and I found that I had to modify my grip slightly to get the best results. Of course, the modified grip worked better for the DF, Evnroll, and Scotty Camerons that I compared it to. So that was a bonus. Overall, I was most comfortable with the Mezz, but maybe that's just a honeymoon period thing. I thought it would take more effort to get used to after gaming the DF for so long. It's funny, but the DF looked really busy, in comparison, when I stood over the ball. As much as I'm not a fan of fanged putters, I felt like they helped with alignment. The Scotties (a Newport 2 and a squareback) and the Evnroll were controllable and I putted probably 90% as well with them. After rolling with a LAB putter for so long, I could feel how much effort went into trying to square the face. It's not a lot, but it's not zero either. I used the Mezz in a round with my kids yesterday and it was one of the best putting days I've had. That may have just been coincidence and I would have putted well with a rock glued to a stick, but I'm definitely keeping it in the bag for now. IMHO, worth the money. (edit: I've played a couple of rounds with the Mezz now and I'm still impressed with how well it works for me. I thought the DF was good when I first got it, but the Mezz is even better.)
I use Shotscope to record my rounds. The 3 yrs of data prior to getting a LAB putter showed that in strokes gained for putting, compared to a scratch golfer, I was consistently almost -4. With the DF2.1 that dropped to -2.75. Since I started using the Mezz, I'm now at -0.95. So far, of all the equipment changes I've made in my bag since I started playing golf, it's made the most significant improvement to my score.
I have three Scotty's, a three ball, a PING Broom and just spent the money and bought a L.A.B DF3. First time using it was two weeks ago (out on the course), I DROPPED 11 putts from the prior week. I went from 44 putts down to 33 putts. Now I am getting use to the look and feel, the DF3 is lighter then I like and the overall look... I'm getting use to that as well. But even my regular group couldn't believe how the ball was rolling for me, one even told me "that was the best golf investment you ever made." For me, I'm glad it's in my bag!
At that price I'd want a legally enforceable guarantee that I'd make 75%+ of all putts. It looks nice but not great to my eye and the offset shaft / grip would do my head in. Great review . content again Peter. Cheers
I’m gaming this putter. Love it. Very confident within 15 feet. I struggle to nail distance when I’m 40+ feet away though. My prior putters were Spider Tour that DJ used to win the tour and PXG Spitfire which was an incredible putter and performed a shockingly well.
Hopefully you see this. Can you scoop the ball up with that putter? I know the Mezz can't do it. I also haven't been able to find a location with the link in stock to try it out. For the price I want performance and convenience.
I own this putter and it's insane how good it is. I had the df2.1 and thought that nothing would take it out of my bag but just a few putts with the mezz it took it's place. It just feels / looks more like a actual putter but is the most stable feeling putter ever. The looks kind of disappear after awhile and it looks normal. Unlike the 2.1... that always looked off to me ha
@@giomusah2155 the df is for sure more forgiving because it's massive. But the mezz is more traditional feeling so it's a easier transition. The df admittedly took me awhile to enjoy. They just released a mezz max that may be the perfect putter (I have not used it though)
I find it strange that some people wouldn't batter and eyelid over a £500 driver which they'll hit a max 15 times a round, but don't want to pay that sort of money for the most used club in the bag. Obviously buy whatever works for you.
I understand you've been fitted for the other 2, but if the stats show you can putt better with this, you would be doing yourself a disservice not putting it in the bag. Especially if that means you can focus more on your chipping to get closer in proximity. Then when you have that down you can switch back to a better looking/feeling putter if needed. Just a thought. Love the content.
I currently own one and I love it. I've had most putters from the scottys all the way to the new cobra agerra. Maybe it's the placebo effect of paying 550$ but I hope it keeps performing as I've shot the best 2 rounds of my life using this putter. Get fitted or try it out at your local golf store, you might not be disappointed!
Dude I just took mine out today for the first time. 9 holes, 13 putts. And I was playing through so rushed and 3 putted from 4 feet once. So 10 putts on the other 8. It's amazing. Short putts were center stick every time other than...the incident I just shared lol
@@jeffyeah4256 I ended up going back the the LAB DF 2.1...it's just too easy to use. Mezz I had problems with distance control which I imagine is why they just released the bigger version
I have the Directed Force 2.1 (actually got it because of your original video) and its legit the best putter I have ever used. It does look ridiculous, but I have so much confidence with the 2.1 that it would be very hard for me to switch from anything else. The Mezz. 1 does look pretty great, would love to compare it to a 2.1 but not sure if I will see one anywhere that I can try before buying
I’ve had a LAB in my bag for about 3 years now and I will never change it. I don’t care about the looks or the snickering from other players, because it’s the best putter I’ve ever had.
@@Shipwreck15151 Same here. I got mine almost exactly 2 years ago (May 2020). I'm utterly amazed Finchy doesn't have the 2.1 in his bag after that vid he put out last year where he was quite literally making everything he was looking at. I too cannot imagine changing to anything else. If i did, it would be that smaller "blad" putter they have. And only because it feels so ridiculously soft when you hit it in the sweet spot.
@@Golfzilla70 a good friend of mine (+4 handicap) put one in his bag and shot some low 60s and I believe a 59 with it…..and for some reasons took it out. We golfers are a fickle bunch of idiots sometimes 😂
I really like the look of this putter. I still say you should go with a center shafted model of putter, Pete. Your stroke looked great during this video, not as forced looking
I went for a LAB fitting and ordered the MEZZ 1 waiting for it to arrive. It actually looks fine behind the ball when set up to it. Yes the tech really does work. People talk about the price of these putters. What your getting is a putter made to your exact specifications. How many of us put there have spent this kind of money on a new driver which actually hasn't made our Golf any better. If your looking for help with your putting I would definitely recommend trying this putter. If your a really bad putter then try the 2.1 it really is that good. I just thought the foot print was too large.
Hit the nail on the head with the directed force being a relationship based on performance. Put it in the bag a few months ago and have been a markedly better putter. It’s FUGLY no doubt, but it helps me a ton
Once they add new color choices, I personally will be adding a Mezz1 to my bag. As far as the Edel putters. Peter, that Edel, looks like it's working great for you. I'd recommend sticking with it. Consistency is key. I believe the more you use the Edel. The more it'll work for you. Keep up the great work, and Good luck and Cheers!
I actually like the look. And I suspect the bottom weights make it very tunable. Price though would keep me away. My spider that I purchased for $140 as new works quite well.

Awesome. Also need to look out for Sink putters in West Sussex. Olly is amazing. Designed a putter in cad based on my brief and we tweaked the design. Piece of art and cheaper than scotty's. Roll so pure
I'm sticking with my spyder. I think confidence comes from your love of the design. If you like the look it will work for you just the same I feel like if you hate the look it will always perform underwhelmingly. At least that's how it was when I was building control panels. The prettier it was the better it"worked". The uglier the panel the worse it worked because it just didn't look nice, no matter how good it worked if there was a problem it had to be the panel first.
Glad to see you are sticking with the other putters out of commitment. You can only get better. However if you had the DF2 in the bag you actually had 2 center shafted putter. hope you sink more putts.
is there really a big forgiveness difference or face twist resistence between mezz, spider 2022 or cobra supernova? trying to decide here...which you prefer
Looks a nice putter tbf and interesting, BTW visiting dundanald for a game end of this month as I work for the company can't wait to play the course 😎👍
Just grabbed a mezz 1 max for my dad's retirement party. Wasn't expecting to get it but I couldn't believe how straight my line was. Now... power and reading greens, who knows if my dad likes it. The putter is red and looks insane. No clue if he's gonna like it lol😂
If you get the center shaft yips, I think this putter will grow the confidence you need with your other putters....love the Edel, but LAB have something here...I have the B.2. Love it. Aesthetically I think it's gorgeous. Only reason I haven't moved to Mezz, because I think they came make it look way better... but the tech speaks for itself...
It's a very advanced version of what seemore were doing years ago. Surely you cant argue with the results if you can get over the looks. Most used club in the bag.
Planning on getting fit for one of these soon. The price doesn’t really bother me. It’s the club I hit the most per round and stays in the bag the longest for me.
I wanted to love the DF but I just couldn't adjust to it. I didn't like the press grip and where the shaft meets the head and I always pushed the ball. I will say, the CEO is extremely approachable and does answer questions on social media which I thought was pretty awesome.
I rolled a Mezz1 at the shop today, it is ugly and I don't like center shafts but it is the best putter I've ever used and I HATE that it's the best putter I've ever rolled.
Test drove some putters this weekend. Overall the best that worked for me is the odesseys although I don't like the two ball look. I had been using an old white hot mallet (lost my clubs in a fire recently 😭so building a new set.) I putt left but can putt right(just not as comfysnd don't have the same periferial of the hole), nevertheless the other putter I would choose is the Mizuno although they didn't have the mallet type. I'm disappointed in the Cleveland as it has terrible feel coming off the face. Honestly though if I could go back in time I would find me the Zebra putter. That thing was lights out.
I don’t think it looks that bad, I did hear that ET needs the force thing to get back home. Making a point about the monies, It has always baffled me that golfers are happy to pay £400+ for a driver the supposedly straightens tee shots, makes you hit as far as Rory Mcilroy. Yet it doesn’t and you only use it 14 times a round at most. Meanwhile you use a putter 32 times and golfers world wide scoff at paying more then £100 for them. 🤯

You could’ve kept the suspense a bit longer 😂 I think putters come down to looks and feel much more than any other club because you spend so damn long looking at them!
Peter, I have been gaming the Directed Force 2.1 for 5 months now and I tried the Mezz and I have to say that for myself I think the DF 2.1 feels better to me...thus everyones feel is subjective, that said I agree that the Love Affair that I have is as you stated, based on performance as I think ot is perjaps the ugliest putter anyone has made, but you can't argue with the bottom of the cup! I'm still putting with my reaissance era Ky Lafoon hickory shafted putter hand made in 1497 and I rarely miss anything inside of 20 feet. So unless this putter can improve on that, I think I'll apply that $449 to buying bitcoin.
I’m a center shafted putter guy so my choices are limited but that doesn’t bother me. What does brother me is the retailers do not carry hardly any in stock so if you want to try one it’s pretty much tough luck. I currently have a center shafted Odyssey White Hot (only $150 US), which I haven’t played a round with yet, and a Scotty Cameron Futura 5S that’s been in my bag for over 3 years. Interested in trying an Evnroll ER5CS with the gravity grip. I know you can order a Spyder with the center shaft also but I’m not into buying on faith. I don’t see many reviews on center shafted putters as well. Are they bad or something?
It looks weird, but looks aren't everything. I wouldn't spend that much on a putter without having a chance to at least try it in a shop first, which is very difficult for obscure brands in this part of Canada. However, given the chance I'll try anything to see how it compares to my Scotty
I don't think a heel-shafted putter would ever meet the "zero torque" standard they build their brand on. I think the shaft has to connect 100% straight into the center of gravity. That's part of the secret of the putters.
Visually, it looks like a brick on a stick. If it works for someone, that's great. But it is not appealing to the eye. Just my opinion. As always love your reviews Peter! Thank you!!!
It's shape is the M for Mezz,, or W for WOW.. take your pick. selling between $500-900,, That's a lot of coins.. For me, 90% is in the stroke., just look at the pro's both men /women, op's , Them, who putt without this tech and still do super low putting, D J won the Masters with 20 under par,, and look at Rhein Gibson,, 12 birdies 2 eagles ,, 55 on a par 71.. yesterday, I had 3 birdies and missed 3 due only to not reading the right line, still not a bad round. sometimes the purple patch comes along and they all go in,, Mine was 5 birdies and 2 eagles. pity that purple patch didn't stay for longer.
as for looks, ah well I use the biomech Acculock I don't care about looks, I care about results. I will stick with what I have but TRULY appreciate an honest review Thank You
One thing folks should know about LAB putters is that they depreciate steeply, so if want to try one out for a while you can easily buy one second hand for a fraction of the original price in just about any spec or configuration.
I am a little tired of this notion that Adam Scott is a bad putter. Was he? Yes. Is he now? No. Look at the season stats, he has been top 20 in strokes gained this year and last and top 50 the 2 years prior. Yes he's known for a great swing. But his long game has been off for sometime. If you can use some legal tech that makes the game easier you would be silly not to.
My DF 2.1 is NOT coming out the bag. Making putts trumps EVERYTHING (for me). It can take a little while to learn how to use the putter/technology correctly but once you do...
A perfect putter not going in the bag based on the science of "the Heebee Geebees." "The worst putting performance potentially ever in the history of golf anywhere in the world." Peter Finch the opera, the drama, the tragedy. How can you go on Peter? but any chance to throw yourself on the ground and complain you'll take it. And then you cough up the bit that proves it is not a joke, "and it has LITERALLY stayed with me forever." "LITERALLY FOREVER". Of course it did, scarred for life. Question: Why bother trying when it is soooooo trying?
Peter - not sure about these new style of clubs. I like how you putt with the classics. Do you still have your Odessy White Hot #2 that you won the qualifying tournament to get into the Faldo series?

Get fitted or try it out at your local golf store, you might not be disappointed!
It's the Tie-fighter of putters😆
Dude I just took mine out today for the first time. 9 holes, 13 putts. And I was playing through so rushed and 3 putted from 4 feet once. So 10 putts on the other 8. It's amazing. Short putts were center stick every time other than...the incident I just shared lol
@@benwintermute2804 how u like it now?
@@jeffyeah4256 I ended up going back the the LAB DF 2.1...it's just too easy to use. Mezz I had problems with distance control which I imagine is why they just released the bigger version
I own both. Using the DF still. Can’t get away from it. Best putter I’ve had and can’t see myself using another brand.
Pete, you need to try the Link.1 you got along so well with the LAB
@@Shipwreck15151 ain't that the truth
I tried the DF 2.1 at the golf shop, it felt amazing! I’m making an appointment to get fitted for the DF 2.1
You can’t tune it. Those weight are to make it untorqued. So if you messed with those it would no longer be untorqued
Yeah it's a big no no to change them. If you really want to tinker, lead tape it is

Awesome. Also need to look out for Sink putters in West Sussex. Olly is amazing. Designed a putter in cad based on my brief and we tweaked the design. Piece of art and cheaper than scotty's. Roll so pure
I just bought the mezz 1 will be delivered 11-18 today can’t wait
Can I ask how you are getting on with it Tim.
@@rorywoods6344 I like it takes some getting used to. 4 rounds 2 3 putts takes a lighter grip pressure to let the club work the way it’s designed
@@timothykennedy4457 Thanks Tim much appreciated.
Best looking putter I've seen! Love how it isn't too golf looking, if that makes sense.
@@jeffc1736 Based on the info provided I'd say the Mezz is most likely the most stable, particularly on of center hits.
Looks a nice putter tbf and interesting, BTW visiting dundanald for a game end of this month as I work for the company can't wait to play the course 😎👍
I recently switched to a Odyssey Eleven the one totally black and that is absolutely lovely for me
So far removed from the old tm kia ma tp Monaco I've used all my golfing life. Maybe going the polar opposite way is a shout. Good honest review.
Just grabbed a mezz 1 max for my dad's retirement party. Wasn't expecting to get it but I couldn't believe how straight my line was. Now... power and reading greens, who knows if my dad likes it. The putter is red and looks insane. No clue if he's gonna like it lol😂
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. So Peter, is this club going in your bag, or what?? You didn't make it very apparent in the video 😂
I love center shafted putters, that's all I use, wish we had a better choices in center shafted putters.
The information was great. I will stick with my old Ping Zing 5. What happens to all the putters you test? Putter graveyard?
If you get the center shaft yips, I think this putter will grow the confidence you need with your other putters....love the Edel, but LAB have something here...I have the B.2. Love it. Aesthetically I think it's gorgeous. Only reason I haven't moved to Mezz, because I think they came make it look way better... but the tech speaks for itself...
It's a very advanced version of what seemore were doing years ago. Surely you cant argue with the results if you can get over the looks. Most used club in the bag.
I love the look on all them
Planning on getting fit for one of these soon. The price doesn’t really bother me. It’s the club I hit the most per round and stays in the bag the longest for me.
This is true
It's an awesome putter, just waiting for mine to arrive.
@@peterfinchgolf MR. PETE, which putter is best for less face twisting: spider 2022, mezz or cobra supernova?
you have to reconsider this in the 2023 build my bag series peter!
Looks like two little wooden derby race cars sticking out of the back but wow you nailed some gorgeous putts with that contraption
The link.1 is an awesome putter
Each screw on the bottom is how many strokes it takes me per hole
Test drove some putters this weekend. Overall the best that worked for me is the odesseys although I don't like the two ball look. I had been using an old white hot mallet (lost my clubs in a fire recently 😭so building a new set.) I putt left but can putt right(just not as comfysnd don't have the same periferial of the hole), nevertheless the other putter I would choose is the Mizuno although they didn't have the mallet type. I'm disappointed in the Cleveland as it has terrible feel coming off the face. Honestly though if I could go back in time I would find me the Zebra putter. That thing was lights out.
Good luck with the practice. Putting practice is hard IMO, takes a lot of grind which flies by on the range but not on the putting green.
How much would you pay?
@@truthlifefishing1730
Paid £280 including fitting for a LH Odyssey O Works 1W 4/5 years ago. But the fitting was the more important part. After stroke was analysed, fitted identified a face balanced putter work best with my stroke. Tried as many putters as available in LH and @ the time the £179 O-works was the best.

Peter,
I have been gaming the Directed Force 2.1 for 5 months now and I tried the Mezz and I have to say that for myself I think the DF 2.1 feels better to me...thus everyones feel is subjective, that said I agree that the Love Affair that I have is as you stated, based on performance as I think ot is perjaps the ugliest putter anyone has made, but you can't argue with the bottom of the cup! Great job on your review@

That one is not for me lol, thinking the Adel might be for you though, you and your putting stroke looked and performed very nicely together.
I'm still putting with my reaissance era Ky Lafoon hickory shafted putter hand made in 1497 and I rarely miss anything inside of 20 feet. So unless this putter can improve on that, I think I'll apply that $449 to buying bitcoin.

Hey Pete next RUclips short should be hitting 3 balls with the directive force
Peter have you done a video over their Link 1?
Let's bring back Carly booth ⛳😊
It looks weird, but looks aren't everything. I wouldn't spend that much on a putter without having a chance to at least try it in a shop first, which is very difficult for obscure brands in this part of Canada. However, given the chance I'll try anything to see how it compares to my Scotty
If only it had a heel-shafted version for you. Maybe they'll make one later?
I don't think a heel-shafted putter would ever meet the "zero torque" standard they build their brand on. I think the shaft has to connect 100% straight into the center of gravity. That's part of the secret of the putters.
I had a LAB 1A putter for a while but was getting to many lip outs especially in moist conditions.
Can you explain what a putter has got anything to do with ground conditions...🤷🏼♂️
Ah another "I'm not using LAB even though I made more putts with it" video. Super original.
Visually, it looks like a brick on a stick. If it works for someone, that's great. But it is not appealing to the eye. Just my opinion.
As always love your reviews Peter! Thank you!!!
It's shape is the M for Mezz,, or W for WOW.. take your pick.

sometimes the purple patch comes along and they all go in,, Mine was 5 birdies and 2 eagles. pity that purple patch didn't stay for longer.

I've got a bit of old metal on rusty stick from the 70s, because it makes no difference.
I mean… if your ball is in the hole, you don’t really need a putter that can pick up the ball. Do ya? I wouldn’t know.
My DF 2.1 is NOT coming out the bag. Making putts trumps EVERYTHING (for me). It can take a little while to learn how to use the putter/technology correctly but once you do...
Why didn't they just paint those weights black? Makes it look like a prototype in silver.
If I buy one will I one putt on every hole? Putters are the biggest con after the driver for the average golfer.
I agree. You can either putt or you can't putt.
