  • Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee has been leading the effort to end hunger in Northeast Tennessee since 1986, distributing food and engaging the community in the fight to end hunger through regional partnerships, programs, and education.
As director of the program, Rhonda Chafin has worked to build the Northeast Tennessee brach of Feeding America into a community-centric organization reliant not only on her staff and administration, but also a wonderful group of volunteers who provide a much-needed boost to the workforce.
She has also observed the need for a community kitchen, which will provide meals and snacks for those in need, especially young people in need. With the addition of the community kitchen and the added volunteer workforce comes the possibility of feeding so many more, and the obvious need for expansion of their footprint and facility. The former Sam’s Club building just off exit 63 has been a great home for Second Harvest and it is undergoing some amazing changes to meet their current needs.
