Would you ever do a tutorial on how to get the 720 input standing? I’m always so impressed with how you get that super and that you got that out right after a parry
He was doing the 720 input while still in blockstun where he couldn't jump. You just have to do the motion while in the middle of a move, try practicing it by doing forward medium kick (the knee move) and doing the input while in the middle of it.
characters in the game don't jump immediately. iirc zangief has a startup of 6 frames before he jumps. 6 frames / 60 fps = 0.1 seconds startup. so you do the first 360 (which can be input as a 225 degrees) going from forward to up-back. then you need to do the same thing of going from forward to up back in less then 0.1 sec. if you do that, then you'll do the level 3 super.
@@MinecraftIsLoveMinecraftIsLife That is possible, but as you mentioned yourself the timing is pretty hard to nail. It's much more consistent to learn how to buffer it during other actions. It's why you'll see DemonDan do an empty jump into Level 3 often, you can easily pull off the 720 motion before Gief lands with the disadvantage of it being more telegraphed. Of course, jumping is just one option, it can also be done during blockstun or a parry, as sanicboi mentioned, as well as pretty much any other animation.
In the fgc the term that explains what he’s doing is called Buffering. An example of buffering outside of the 720 is in the game Guilty Gear Strive, where one character called goldlewis has to do 180 inputs in order to use a move that’s integral to both blockstrings and combos. A few of those 180s start with the initial direction being upwards and another couple having the 180 having 3 inputs that would be jump back, neutral jump, and forward jump. Goldlewis’s jump squat is shorter than Zangiefs (I think, have to check frame data) so I can’t just do the input raw, instead I click a button and during the active and end frames of the first move I do the inputs for the various 180s I can choose from.
DI animations are good for doing standing 720s as well. If a block stun isn’t available.
