I have nothing against the Moonswatch, but the ppl who wants to resell them like if it was a sold out collector's piece.
One takeaway from this release: Swatch had massively profited, Omega had massively lost.
I don't hate it. Just don't find the price reasonable for its quality.
The only thing I hate about it is that they don't make it available to purchase online. The closest "boutique" where I live is a two and a half hour-plus drive. I'll pass. Will I have any interest in it by the time they decide it will be available online? I don't know.
Those are rookie numbers. I'd hade to take a plane ride if I wanted to buy one in a boutique.
@@viktorchimymalm1192: Same. I’ll have to fly to a different country to have the chance to go to a store to be told they are sold out. Not happening. Sell them at Omega stores in countries that don’t have Swatch stores or something at least if they hate online so much
Move out of the boonies.
It’s not a “ghost position”. When the crown is in the second position, you can push the pushers and adjust the tiny sundial hands if they happen to get misaligned.
Unfortunately a gift shop item. Contributing to the landfill problem...
People hate it because the crystal can be scratched by cardboard. It's worth less than the strap it ships on.
I wanted one badly at release but it was sold out everywhere due to low stock. So, I waited a couple of months to see how badly I really really wanted it...and I lost all interest.
If I see one, I might buy... otherwise, meh. It's just a Swatch.
same.
Same
Yup, I was one of those fools thinking I should stand around waiting outside the AD when first released. Glad I never did as I’ve come to the realization this watch is All hype and no substance.
For that money and quality of O/S watch, better to get Sea-Gull 1963 42mm Chrono watch. Same price, super better specs and look and quality, not to mention Manual Chrono movement. However, people who are interested in this O/Swatch might not be really interested in Sea-Gull 1963 42mm, ha ha. Thanks for your honest and interesting review, Oleg. Have a great day.
They're over-priced, cheaply built plastic watches with inexpensive movements. Adrian Barker's had a pusher snap off, rendering it useless. More FB reviewers are telling it like it is.
I bought Mission to the Sun and Mission to Mercury, I think it’s a cool fun watch! I own a Rolex and I’m a major watch lover. This watch got me looking into buying a Speedmaster.
Let's be clear though, this watch would be about $50 if it did not have the word Omega on the dial.
And even that would be too generous.
Initially, I wanted to get the Pluto version. I love the color combo on that one. Unfortunately, so many reviewers and commenters have pointed out consistent QC issues that I'm very hesitant to drop $250 on something like this. I think a better price point would have been under $150, which would be more inline with other Swatches of similar build.
Can you also do a review on the Spongebob Squarepants watch I found on amazon for 28 euros ? I guess it plays in the same quality league as the moonswatch :-)
The amount that someone hates this watch is proportionate to the amount they really wanted one when it was first released.
Well said, my friend. I finally landed a Pluto and absolutely love it.
I love it!. I have two of them: Mars and Mercury... the key point is to keep in mind it is a SWATCH WATCH with authorized OMEGA logo on dial. It is a funny second watch. Thats all. Nice video!
Some minor mistakes:
- it’s not a Mecaquartz movement
- the movement is indeed hacking
I don’t inow of any quartz watch that doesn’t hack.
I love Moonswatch. Why buy metal Speedmaster if for the same price you can have 20 ceramic Moonswatches?? Great investment pieces, btw!!
Initially was very interested, now won’t buy even at 2nd hand market with lower price after seeing all the low quality issues (falling out push button, transferring color to skin, easily scratched crystal), not serviceable etc. from many other RUclips videos.
They still want to sell at premium prices over boutiques at slow releases but not online sales while there are many cheaper look-a-like counterfeit in the market.
Not good for Moonswatch.
Agree 100%.
I've always loved swatch ( I have five swacth watches), and I'll...probably add this one to the collection...some day.
I think it's nice at a $60-$80 price point, but $260 for this is just robbery.
I like the strap! So much I changed it because I don’t think it would last if your sweating in it and I doubt it’ll be easy to get another.
I like the looks but the build quality is disapointing 😞
Technically not a ghost position. It's needed to re-align the hands of the chrono if required. Pull it out to the first spot - then toggle the top or bottom pushers to move the hands for reset. So while there is no date to adjust - the first spot is still a required function.
I agree that people seem to have had unreasonable expectations, I picked up a Mission to Jupiter, it's a fun occasional wear watch. I don't expect my MoonSwatch to be as rugged as my Marathon Navigator, but I don't plan to use it the same way.
Honestly it is not worth the retail price, I’ll wait a year or two and pick up a used one for between $100 to $150 Canadian dollars. The moonSwatch is cool but it is not what I would consider to be a good watch.
I can't disagree with any of your points on this watch Oleg, a very well non biased view of this piece and non judgemental. If it brings those who don't wear a watch or a watch that doesn't require regular charging to the community that's a good thing. Great to see Mr bond popping up at the end of the video.
Ambitious and creative collaboration.....However after the smoke has cleared....It's a Overpriced, Overhyped, Cheap toy watch.
Great video. I collect inexpensive watches. I have no desire for this piece of junk. Give me a $40 Timex or $300 Bulova. Thanks for the review.
It's not plastic! It's ceramic. The crystal is not plastic too. It's hesalite! Maybe the strap is not the most comfortable but sometimes, if you want to look cool, you have to suffer a bit.
My personal idea it’s a disposable watch
Your bang on, as long as you don't take it for what it is you'll not be disappointed....as a summer watch I think it's fine
Hello, Mr. Bond. Good review
Well put, sir: "A nice colorful" thing on one' s wrist. It is what it is. Best regards to Mr. Bond.
I trully believe your nephew should get a g-shock with that money, instead of that cr@pp% watch 😅
Good job on the review!! Totally agree with you on all points! Thanks !
We’ll just have to disagree on this one: IMHO the watch is an overpriced cheaply made over-hyped POS that doesn’t deserve anyone’s hard earned money. For a few bucks more you can buy a Bulova Lunar Pilot…a watch with real moon watch heritage m
Hey Mr Bond, pls remind Oleg we emailed him for a review on our new watches., in case it's in your junk folder. Cheers. 😃
I say any watch that tells time and brings more people into hobby can’t be bad.
Love it, but have not seen one in real life. Love the idea of this watch. Never would mistake it for a real Speedy. Instead, this might give the buyer a notion of what a real Speedy might LOOK on the wrist. I bought the 1863 Sapphire Sandwich a couple of years ago and still want one of these. But, I will wait until the hype dies down significantly.
People hate on it because they really want/wanted to get one.
Plastic cement that’s going to be sold out via the second hand gray market I predict 100% mark my word’s stick with the McDonald’s happy meals less costly overall
It's not that bad. The crown just falls off that's all which is fairly consistent with the quality you get with swatch overall and otherwise it's quite good because the quartz accuracy is a couple of orders of magnitude better than the Omega mechanical pieces
I want the Mission to Uranus. Hahaha.
Get
The
Bulova
Lunar
Pilot
.
love my mission to the moon and that's all that matters
I'll buy the Chinese copy instead..
⌚ 🙋♂️
It’s only hated because people can’t get it.
1. Hype
2. Artificial scarcity
3. Profit
4. I dont give a c$#p about point 1-3.
If this watch had a movement like the Bulova Lunar pilot it was a major hit. I think the hype was for the looks but also for the movement, and the last one is a major drawback.
so Omega now means "not that bad". Its a hard sell to view them as luxury brand from here on.
Well there is the lying about putting it online. Then there's the pushers falling off problem. Then there is the pigment leaching off problem. Then there is the "you can't open it to fix it or replace the movement" problem. Then there is the crappy strap problem. Other than that, it's ... ummm... mediocre. Buy a Bulova Lunar Pilot instead.
Because it is $260 of cheap trash. One reviewer scratched the cheap plastic lens with the card board box when he was boxing it up to send to another reviewer to review.
So basically people are buying this watch for its design which is copied from speedy and perhaps the omega logo, anything else is not worth the money.
Sorry but you didn't talk about case and most important, buttons, that with a simple blow, not too hard, they break. Also fades the case back. I think that when a brand like Omega participates in this, it should take care of these details, even if the watch costs 100 dollars.
In my opinion it's disappointing. I have not bought the watch nor will I, but a good friend of mine didi it and this is the result and for the record that he is quite careful.
I thought Richard Mille was Ugliest watch but I stand corrected.
A cheap fun “second “ watch not priced as such.
This is the greatest watch ever!
People are just paying for the name and hype... The funny thing is that Ali Express have homage watches of these for a lot cheaper...
I think I will wait for the Lego version and build it myself rather than pay $260 for a "silly plastic toy." Ha!
it is a 100eur watch at best.
Hated because it's sooooooooooo hard to get one
It's a cheap plastic watch , but hey I get it.
You can buy a replica moonswatch for $30, cheaper and actually available.
Any quartz watch is a fail..
because it's a toy pretending to be a watch.
Plastic chrystal. Not a mega quartz. You can get manual and automatic movements in stainless steel, including the bracelet for $125 all over the internet. The real price for this watch should be $75, all in. Good looking watch though. And virtue signaling on the basically plastic case.
$25 bootlegg. Swatch is SUPREME pricing.
Chinese 'genuine fakes' available for around $20 online :-) Probably about the same quality......
if only its glass not plastic
Actually it is that bad though. It’s not well made, it’s over priced, and the one I purchased directly from the store had a misaligned seconds hand.
Because it sucks, the hype sucks, the launch sucks, the in-availability sucks, the product is terrible, the strap is horrible. Done! Next!
Don't hate it, but when I finally got my hands on one, I realized what a POS they are. Outside how it looks, it's got nothing going for it. Awful watch but interesting none the less.
If you wear a cubic zirconia ring, then this watch is for you.
It’s not bad for $50.
Don't hate it, but I have lost interest in it. After tax, it would set me back $300. Not worth it (to me). It's a plastic Swatch with some Omega branding on it. And what part did Omega actually play in this so-called "collaboration?" I doubt they really had any say in the matter. The whole concept just seems like a cheesy cash-grab.
I am not a hater, but have no interest to own one.
Let's be realistic here. The moonswatch, is absolute garbage at 260 bucks, even at 50 bucks it's not worth the recycled plastic it's made of, it's just an over hyped marketing tool, you'll be better served with an homage watch, and use the left over money for a good dinner and put the rest of the money in your pocket.
Love Omega ( SM300 & AT owner) but zero interest in quartz Swatch. Wanted a moonswatch, but I'd rather be punched repeatedly in the face than go to the shithole London to get one. Stupid idea making it shops only, great way to encourage the scumbag flippers and alienate the fanbase!! (Anyone paying over ratail should be shot for feeding the flippers)
Cheers mate 👍👍
I wouldn't visit that infested slum for a real Speedmaster at the same price as the Swatch.
@@jamesrobert4106 yup, same here mate. Thank you for your comment 👍🏻
nothing special... i would not buy one.... cheers
It paints your wrist. Period. It's absolute garbage.
It's a cheesy ,cheap, plastic piece of garbage money grab. It's a child's toy at best.
Real piece of crap - yes
You’re just jealous, ha ha.
