I share the same sentiments with you. I got mine recently in Vienna on a trip with my mother and she bought it for me; it’s something that has a huge sentimental value now; something to remind me of Vienna, my trip, and the bond and fun I had with my mother. People should relax and just enjoy the watch, as we all do/did when we got our Swatches.

For me the watch is all about the story. I’m quite young (teenager) and this was my first watch. I got the watch on the initial release by camping out with friends for over 20 hours and it was such a fun experience that I’ll never forget. The experience resonated with me to the point that I passed on the £500 profit I could’ve made at the time and decided to keep the watch. If it was all for the materialistic aspect of the watch, I would’ve sold it ASAP, it’s not a watch worth the price but every time I look at that watch when I wear it, it reminds me of the: crazy interactions we had in the night, Americans who were out partying coming and dancing, the rush and buzz from everything that was occurring, etc. I’m not really one that attaches experiences/emotions to materialistic things tbh but this one hit different

Having been a watch collector (from my dad to me and to my son and daughter, now) - I was caught up with all the buzzy and hoopla around the Moonswatch (like millions of others). After being very frustrated with the lines and striking out on buying even my 1st through the Christmas holidays, I basically wrote off getting one. Then, on a holiday trip to Kota Kinabalu (Malaysia), much like the narrator, I walked into the main Swatch store, no line and they had a good selection of Moonswatches… over 3 days, picked-up 3. Got the 4th back home in Manila. Yes - they are more “toy” than substance and, delicate too… But, they are fun and it is easy to see why there is such a fever and continued one at that till now. I liken my investment to something to enjoy over its life, which should be a tad longer than a couple of decent bottles of wine over a dinner over the course of a year. So, in short - I enjoy my investment.

Even though it's called "the watch" because of it's form factors and well, because it shows time, it really is just a wearable computer. It doesn't compete with traditional watches that much and basically exists in it's own realm. I don't know any single watch enthusiast who stopped wearing their timepieces/stopped being enthusiast because of smartwatches. If other people did it, it's because they were never really that much into traditional watches or because the smartwatch provided them with functionality they needed. So why not let those people be. I was with my wife in Paris and we tried a few places and couldnt touch them then we found anotehr swatch as we were walking and i was like let me just see.... and sure enough they had some.. I was able to get the MOON and the EARTH.. If they had Neptune i would have got that as well. but 2 was good for our Anniversary. I think they are great for what they are. They dont replace the real thing but they are not supposed to. But on your wrist it looks like it could be.. either way its a cool looking time piece if you are into watches (which i am). ..

The moonswatch has been described here as a 'tee shirt and jeans' watch. This got me thinking, how would watch enthusiasts describe a Rolex in terms of clothes? (Pipe and slippers maybe) Sometimes I think enthusiasts take themselves a little too seriously when it comes to watches. I've read about moonswatch quality control issues and if this is the case this is totally unacceptable. I've recently bought 2 £9.99 Casio quartz watches which are the cheapest you can get I believe. Great additions to the collection and not too concerned if they get scratched.

After using it daily I must say it has positively surprised me: no evident scratches on the "glass" and zero marks on the case.
One year and $250+mln in Sales Revenues and $180+mln in Gross Margin later there's no doubt it was a huge win for the Swatch Group. The missus never wears a watch. I have tried to get her at least faintly interested in some of the watches and brands that I like, but it isn't in her. In September of 2022, we went to Switzerland. I had told her all about the Omega x Swatch, and suddenly, something about the colors, the thematic elements, the appearance, the availability, et cetera had her going a full 180° from helping me to find one to her suddenly wanting one for herself! We got ours whilst in Luzerne and we were (pardon the pun) beyond the moon! She has the Uranus whilst I have the Pluto. I think that the bottom line, whether you're a 'watch nut' or not is that this has expanded the visibility of all Swiss brands, and I say this as now she is interested in possibly owning a ladies Tissot model. Sometimes what some consider kitch is just fun and cool to others. Great video, and while I don't give my 'Swpeedy' wrist time often, I still enjoy it.

I grew up in Florida. Born in 1954 I was a Space Kid. In 1969 my mom and aunt went to Europe. Mom asked me what I would like her to bring back for me. I immediately said, "Omega Speedmaster watch." The day we landed on the moon she bought one in Zurich for $155.00. I wore the watch every day until 1980 when I was issued a Rolex Sea Dweller in military service. Thereafter I always wore the Speedy in July. It turns out the watch Mom bought was incredibly rare and as I am approaching 70 I sold it to arguably the world expert on Speedmasters. Guess what I bought. Three Speedmaster homage watches, two Paganis and the Phylida with the beautiful ST19 Seagull movement. Omega in my opinion, obliterated the magic of their masterpiece. The homage watches honor that masterpiece. Omega turned a Goddess into a cheap streetwalker in every respect and that was no small factor in influencing my decision to sell my watch, albeit at an astronomical profit.

I purchased a Mission to Mars in August and a Mission to the Moon in recent days. The first one gives me some Alaska Project vibes. The other one is not as boring as I would imagine and it’s a strap monster. Yes, the materials aren’t fine. Yes, they’re quartz. But I wear them and I think they’re a lot of fun!

I was initially all hyped up and ready to get one... till I hear the horror stories of colours running and pushers falling off. Let's put it this way: if I had lots of spare cash to throw away, I'd get one or two for sh*ts and giggles 😉

I use it for travel … it’s super lightweight and don’t have to worry if I lose it or damage it. It’s just some good fun and don’t take it too seriously. But first thing I did was to change the strap to make it look half decent.

I refuse to buy any watch powered by ETA's G10 chrono movement cause it's non-serviceable a disposable hunk of plastic parts welded shut.

I collected 10 out of the 11 (Neptune being the elusive Mission) and eventually sold all but the Mercury. I wanted them simply to pass down with my Speedmaster Pro in years to come, but I got bored of them pretty quickly and sold them on at a small loss. They are fun, and a good conversation piece, but the hype makes them difficult to obtain and enjoy properly. You couldn't be more accurate about the straps, they are dreadful and need to be replaced immediately!

The words "Enjoy the mission" on the back sum up these watches and in your case (and mine if I could be bothered to try and get one) this certainly looks to be true. When these were launched it clearly illustrated that the most basic human beings still have that instinct and that is to fight and then flip to make a profit. Some may say survival of the fittest, others may say take your time and save that pain and the ensuing visit to the hospital and/or the dentist. I still want one though even though it may end up being a scratched up pocket watch after a few strap changes.

It being soft plastic is really sad. Omega went to the moon because it was tough. I would love an Omega Speedmaster. If I am going for cheap, plastic, and quartz, I'll take a Casio.

I have three - Earth, Moon and *ahem* Uranus. And I find the hatred directed against them bizarre: they're just supposed to be a bit of fun guys. Also when I wear them out to my local pub where the bar staff all became watch geeks over lockdown they all know instantly what I'm wearing and want to talk about it. which sadly doesn't happen when I'm wearing any of my more expensive or horologically significant watches... Thanks for the video Andrew, take care.

The hatred is too strong, agree. But I didn't appreciate at all the contradictory statemets from Swatch CEO about bringing the people to stores to meet each other and, at the same time, boasting that MoonSwatch is more exclusive than BlancPain.

Like you said, we all need to be LESS serious about this hobby and let in some fun!

I was able to get some while visiting London. Picked up the Saturn and Mars first day, and my wife thought they were so fun that we queued up another day to get two more. A Venus and Mercury. They do feel cheap, but there's a fun aspect to that cheap. I don't put this watch on and really care about what happens to it.
At the end of the day, that's what a Swatch in the modern watch world is in my book, fun that you strap to our wrist.

Hi, also collect watches. I have mostly vintage ... I wanted one of these when first launched , sadly i couldn't get one due to the high demand and the amount of money greedy scalpers were asking for it. My beautiful wife got me one for Christmas this year . I have the Mission to Mercury . Without me sounding rude you and several other reviewers go to the effort of making these great videos only to dis what I think is a great , fun ,functional and good looking watch. You chose coloured variants that may look cheap or childish or maybe just fun. I think yourself and others are putting this watch down purely because it has the Omega name on it . Personally i think its a genius marketing idea and great take on the two Iconic brands . Enjoy it or put it away or you can do what the rest have done and sell it! Hopefully at reasonable price to someone who may just appreciate it for what it is .
