Every one of these tutorials is so perfectly concise and focused on the concept at hand-you can tell the script was carefully written with users of all levels in mind. Thank you!
Been teaching myself for years and didnt know you could record to the arrangement view from the session view..so much less time consuming damn. THANK YOU🙏🏻
I was shocked with the extent of knowledge in this video. 5 minutes of pure meat. And then I see it comes from Ableton directly? I hope it all works as advertised. Amazing!
I'm just watching this, 6 years later according to the yt date. I must say, that beat in the beginning and near the end is dope. Type of beats I'm interested in..that walking on the moon sh**. Love it! Thank you for this video. Ableton live seems dope so far and these videos are making it a breeze! Big love from here in the States. I pray to God we can have peace for just a little while longer, so we can just make music.
Thank you! I'm a ProTools users coming over to Ableton after using the Akai Force for awhile. This video just made things really click for me. Great video!
Thank you so much for this, I just switched from studio one, and I'm finding a much more user friendly interface and social community with ableton. Keep up the great work.
I found out, that you can select some time, right click and choose "Consolidate time to new scene". This will bring audio back from the arrangement view to the session view.
It's be nice if you had a "copy all to arrangement" kinda button similar to the arrangement consolidate to timezone that maybe bypasses the loop option in clips or sth. When loading stems that you 've created i.e.Also, please consider adding multiple takes to a track while recording, it'd be very connvenient.
I'm new to Ableton Live Lite, would be great if these tutorials were named with numbers ( Learn Live 10_0001, Learn Live 10_0002 and etc...) so I can watch them step by step in order. Thanks
Lol. I've had Ableton for 12 months and always wondered how to work with the Session view. Because I'm just used to other DAWs. This just exponentially increased the point of Ableton for me.
5 years later and the tutorials all still feel like they're for people who already know what is going on :(. How do you get your clips into the session view from arrangement . How come I can't launch a scene by itself ? I press the key and the whole song starts playing
I don't get it. I try to press play to play the Arrangement view but all the instruments are muted. If I play the instruments from the session view they just play their standard loops. How can I activate the instruments in order to get the sound output when I'm playing the arrangement view?
Hey bud, so I can drag my writen arrangement view songs to session, put them on a clip, they are for bars in arrangement, but when I put them on a clip, and now I know to click the clip twice and it brings up options to loop it, the bar is longer than 4 so there is a little dead space before it loops around. I have to shorten it manually, what am I missing? Ive used Ableton a couple years but need some back tracking since I mainly write in arrangement.
Hi there. If we are understanding your issue correctly, there are two ways to get your desired effect. One is to "consolidate" the clip in Arrangement View into a 4-bar loop (to make sure it's exactly 4 bars) before moving it to Session View, or to set the start and end of the loop manually from within Session View (which sounds like it may be what you're currently doing). Hope this information helps! Thanks - Ableton
Is there a way to quantize the recording once you've done it? Let's say I haven't triggered a scene exactly on time and it's slightly off in the arrangement view
Hi there. Thanks for the comment. Almost any MIDI controller will work with Live, but because of the wide variety, we are not able to comment extensively on the functionality of third party devices. You may find it helpful to contact an Ableton Certified Trainer: bit.ly/3D0Pi57 Thanks, Ableton
Having a serious problem right now where I can't see the minutes and seconds. I need to be able to see the minutes and seconds in the track. Does anyone know how to do this?
It would be good, if Ableton also reply to their comments on their video tutorials. How import multitrack stems to session? I import with CTRL to Arrangement mode. Now, how to move them to Session mode?
Hi Lukas, thanks for reaching out. To import multitrack stems to Session View, drag and drop while holding CTRL on Windows, CMD on Mac. Hope this helps, let us know if you have more questions! Cheers, Ableton.
Coming from Cubase I find this an awful solution for a sequencer. Why I don't have all my clips available in the arrangement view, where I can simply drag and drop clips into the sequencer? All this recording and back and forth is such a bad work flow and truly not intuitive.
what have you done dude. ableton 9 was way better. honestly. im always automatically switched to arrangement when i mark something when i try to make midi notes. that sucks dude really. how can i stop this?
LOOK THE PROBLEM IS: I AM RECORDING A SNARE. I AM MAKING A GROOVE. AND I AM NOT TRYING TO RAGE IT JUST MAKES ME ANGRY. EVERYTIME I ACCIDENTLY CLICK ON ANOTHER AUDIO OR MIDI TRACK, WHAT HAPPENS? THE MIDI CLIP AUTOMATICALLY CLOSES. only one wrong mouseklick. this happens to me every time man every time. and it is so anoying. i lost 1000 s of grooves and midis because of that. it just sucks. why dont you fix this? how can i change this? i dont want ableton 10 to always close my midi. and 2. problem. THE ZOOOM OPTION. the more audio spuren i dont know the english word, i have the BIGGER gets the ZOOM WINDOW ON THE SCREEN. when i have like 100 or even 50 of them the window of the zoom option is already so big that i don't see anthying else. everything else because sooo small. really. why do you make this? and then always when i accidently click on the zoom window, it teleports me there and i COMPLETLY LOOSE, the point where i was working on the track. thats why i HATE ableton 10 man. change it. PLEASE no rage.
I firmly believe that this guy recorded all the Ableton tutorials in one night
lol
Hilarious
hahahaha
HELPPP

You make very good tutorials, sir. Thank you for your educational work. I really dug your music in this demo, as well. : ) Peace!

Well done! You taught me something I found invaluable/indispensable at a critical moment. Much thanks!
As always straight to the point - perfectly done. Thank you so much.
This is brilliant - just what I have been looking for. Thanks!
Bruv this blew my mind. Very smart way to record into a DAW. Couldn’t get it before but now I dig it
Really straight forward and easy to follow. Thankyou for making this...
Made life so much easier! Great video thanks!!
It's now record in session view on Ableton 11, on Windows 11 for "paused" record.
Never knew about hold shift befor recording! That would have saved me time!!
Just started learning Ableton and there's so many things that I need to remember compare to fl studio sheesh
Agreed--though I think the switch was well worth it in the end.
I feel that! I grew up using FL and now I started to use ableton... and I got lost right away!
@@samuelwalker9855 kind of like Android compared To apple... when I switched to an iPhone life got easier hahaha.

How can I get clips (including all changes made) from the arrangement view to the session view?
just hold the clip you want to put back to session view and click shift and place it where you want to
I found out, that you can select some time, right click and choose "Consolidate time to new scene". This will bring audio back from the arrangement view to the session view.
Right click/copy/paste directly from one to the other also works, both ways round.
So glad to finally work out how to drag session clips to arranger view without having to click Record and Play

this is so clear and concise, thank you!!!
Thanks! Very helpful.
Thank you! This tutorial saved my life :)
Thank you for sharing this tip! This helps a lot. Cheers
so u have to record your session view in order for it to go to being laid out in arrangement view?
That's what I came here to find out :) You can also kinda drag them from the session view.
I'm new to Ableton Live Lite, would be great if these tutorials were named with numbers ( Learn Live 10_0001, Learn Live 10_0002 and etc...) so I can watch them step by step in order.

I just love this friendly dude
Great patient teacher. Ableton used to be a lot simpler. Still deciding if I like it
Very clear and perfect tips.
this clears up so much thank you
your voice is like the ones in meditation
Thank youuu 😇 many blessings

the best tutorials!
This was very helpful. Thank you!
Are the recorded clips in the arrangement view reduced to audio if the have been midi before or are they recorded as midi like they have been before?
Incredible tutorial! Thank you!
Wow. So clear. Thank you.
This makes me love my launchpad pro even more
Thanks very much its perfect!!!
I don't get it. I try to press play to play the Arrangement view but all the instruments are muted. If I play the instruments from the session view they just play their standard loops. How can I activate the instruments in order to get the sound output when I'm playing the arrangement view?
very good lesson on using the two views ! ... i like tutorials that think out loud as they mouse click, and s-l-o-w-l-y.
why does audio keep playing after the recorder stuff in arrangement view ends (I have pressed the red highlighted button on the right btw

Really helpfull🙏🙏
editing clip in session does not update midi in arrangement created from it? (we get parent and orphan?)
Big Thank you
I love Ableton
how do we use Push 2 to switch between arrangement and session view??
Once you have put in place the pattern that you want, how do you get it to play so that you can hear it? I'm new and I'm trying to learn, TIA
Brilliant.. Thank You.. :-)
Is there a way to quantize the recording once you've done it? Let's say I haven't triggered a scene exactly on time and it's slightly off in the arrangement view
Conor Barry yes click edit and record quantize

It's possible to map the Master scenes panel on a Novation Launch pad ?

turns out recording is hard, so i gave up.
Why aren't my midi notes showing in session view? Albeton is an absolute nightmare.
i dont understand how to get the timeline or arrangement view working at all coming from acid
Nice. Really useful.

what´s that midi keyboard you have there?
It looks like Native Instruments M32 keyboard.
Does this work in Live 9?
Can I lauch one clip after another from the same track while recording them and how?
Damn this is brilliant...

With me, they all start playing at the same time when I push start on one clip in session.
WHY DOES IT LAG WHILE DRAGGING CLIP, WHY AINT ABLETON SMOOTH ENOUGH LIKE FL STUDIO?
👌👌👌👌
holy fuck i finally understand ableton
There are 23 producers in this comment section. Hope y'all succeed
🖕
But bro how do you move around the arrangement the only option is to zoom along you cant scroll 😂
Bitwig gang!!!!
I´m completely stunned that there is no automation for the playback order of scenes in the session view.
you just gotta press TAB, save yourself the 5 minutes
