2004 Saleen S7-R "Evo" GT1 ex Acemco: Accelerations, Warm-Up & Sound!

- This video is about a beautiful Saleen S7-R I saw in action at Monza Circuit last weekend. The car is chassis 029R and it's the first one of the "Evolution" version built from 2004 in California rather than in UK by RML like the first series (S7R was totally redesigned, both on the aero and especially on the constructive side). It was raced in the 2004 ALMS under the Acemco colours and in the 2009 FIA GT championship with K plus K Motorsport team.
Now this S7R has been restored by Art & Revs and it's used in the Endurance Racing Legends series around Europe. Listen to the mighty roar of the 7.0 N/A V8 engine!

Almost 2020 and this machine still looks modern... the engine note on the contrary is from another glorious time.
its from a time before emmisions and restrictions dictated the engine note.
That's because it's essentially a Ford small-block stretched out to 7 liters. Same as the street car.

I still vote this S7R as one of the best looking Race cars ever built.
I like the fact that we all can hear the base sound of this Racecar. It makes it sound the most musical, it's like a heavy metal musical band along with the corvettes. I've watched this car at most racing from ALMS to FIA GT series and its disappointing that it wasn't as victorious as the other GT1 racecar towards the end of the decade.

The S7 is a true "Love-At-First-Sight" experience for me, I didn't know what it was, didn't care. And like true love, every glimpse of it catches my breath like the very first time. I actually got to see the S7R in the early years of competition in the American Le Mans series at the raceway in Sonoma, California (it was Infineon Raceway at that time). And I became the proud "owner" of one in Gran Tourismo 4. That's as close as I'll likely ever get.
Going to see FIA GT, LMS, LM24h, from the early naughties, this car was always a stand out. Such good sounds back then from the gt1s, with the c5r, c6r, dbr9, mc12, murcielago, 550s etc etc such a good era for motorsport...
This car is actually for sale, I already envy the lucky bastard who can afford it.
That's one of the 10 most beautiful cars of all time.
Especially in stock it looks out of another planet compared to other street cars.

I remember the imsa races and the legendary GT1 battles between the Saleen S7.R an the Corvette C5.R on the track and this S7.R chassis number 0029 sounds like a beast 7.0 liter V8 can't be compared to a 5.5 liter V8 or a 4.4 liter V8

@@19Bozzy92 Funny you should say that. I was at SPA24 a few years in a row, when those Freisinger RSR's roamed, and let me tell you - they made your inner ear resonate like nothing else.
People still watching these cars from 90s and beginning of 2000s cuz modern are not even close to what been in past....
And designers keep working but every new car cant repeat that spirit and soul...

The way you play the sound of the engine warming up while showing the car at different angles in the beginning is so sick! It gives the car more of a badass feel than it already does. I love it!

This brings back great memories when I used to attend the American Le Mans Series races at Laguna Seca! I recall seeing this car at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2004, and it ran at Infineon Raceway (now called Sonoma Raceway) and Laguna Seca in 2005. It was, unfortunately, no match for the Corvettes, but it was certainly an eye-catching car on track!
They had to sandbag it because it was too fast for the C5-R & its development was too slow compared to C5-R. With a few modern tweaks these will run with the current GT cars in IMSA easily! They're that good & fast!

You sure know how to drive it! In my opinion the S7.R has got to be one of the sexiest race cars ever! And the sound is awesome! Follows close behind the old C5 and C6.Rs - those were just thunder.
What a thrill it must be to have the chance to thrash these classics and display the former glory of them
I read somewhere that the aerodynamics of the S7.R were great and really made it feel like a prototype race car, but at low speeds it wasn’t that great. It needed and wanted the speed to perform at its best
Torn between this car and the Panoz esperante gtr-1. Both sound amazing
Fortunate to have seen this car in it's prime at Mosport in the early 2000s. I got a signed poster from Terry Borcheller as a kid I was chuffed! They had nowhere near the budget to be as competitive as the big teams but they did well nontheless. I always loved this car and the sound oh my god you feel it coming as much as you hear it, shakes your insides. Thanks for the nostalgia! This and the MC12 were the wildest GT cars of the era to me.

This is a GT1 car. The GT1 class is a class for hypercars. That is literally what GT1 is.
If you think the Saleen is so ahead of its time than look up "GT1" in the 90s.
Hypercars aren't something new.
