Winter floristry in real time - the florist’s job

  • I'm often asked to show the floristry I'm making in real time so I thought today I would. Of course for step by step how tos I hold many workshops and demos both here and at the farm so do book a place on one of those, but this clip might give you a glimpse into a florist's job on an ordinary day in winter. Our Christmas orders get going in earnest next week, so this is just normal every day floristry with only British flowers, a monochrome palette, and limited vase choice, but I like tight parameters as that makes me work more creatively I think. And I hope you like the music I've added to listen along to as I work.
For a full list of workshops and demos held by flower farmer and florist Georgie Newbery see here to book your place www.commonfarm.... Remember, workshop and demo places make excellent Christmas gifts.
For an ad-free version of this clip, all the info re the redesign of the flower farm and the new studio being created in the field, and all Georgie's new clips with extra tips, news and regular live at 5s, do join her RUclips club. You can join up here: / @theflowerfarmer
If you enjoy the tips and tricks Georgie gives you here, or would simply like to support the channel, the link to her Buy Me a Coffee page is here: www.buymeacoff...

LOVED the music, you're not going to please everyone with music choice, just do you! Everyone has a volume control...
Absolutely love having stumbled across your channel. In hot subtropical summer in Australia it's balm to see wintry scenes. And I adore your artistry, very inspiring to a keen inexperienced amateur flower grower and arranger.

I love the way you arrange your flowers and foliage 😊 Have you thought above growing Australian flowers such as Bottle Brush and beautiful tea tree? They come in so many pretty colours and can be dried. Whilst they are not focal flowers, they make wonderful fillers and foliage. The latest varieties have been bred to flower most of the year. They also don’t mind the cold, in fact many of the flowers here grow naturally in Tasmania, Victoria and some the alpine regions. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. I have been making many 30 stem challenges, thanks to you!

ooh I should have a look - I love a bottle brush and tea tree smells gorgeous... not sure they'll love our marshy clay in winter however hardy they may seem in Tasmania x

So inspiring. I try to grow flowers of some sort so that through out as much of the year as possible, I have cut flowers in the house. But come winter I feel bereft. However I am now planning to grow plants for their seed heads as much as for their flowers ready for next winter. Then I shall have something to pop in a jam jar\ jug in the miserable days of winter.
