I have recently gotten into dates. I am a avid cyclists, and it was always important to bring along fast absorbing carbs for longer rides. For me that used to be "energy gels", and anyone familiar with them knows how ridiculously expensive that have gotten since Covid. Well 5 dates gets you 110 calories and 30 grams of carbohydrates. That is equal to a gel in cals and 30% more in carbs. And probably better for the body. Dates: an underappreciated superfood. Can't wait to try this recipe!!
I’ll have to try this hack. Currently I just open a medjool date, stuff with peanut butter and a few chocolate chips and eat like that….lazy way but yummy!
This is legit!!! Snickers! I'm sorry I doubted you! You gave excellent instructions. Mashing the dates together was an arm workout! The way you showed pushing the plastic wrap to fully connect the dates was really helpful. The offset spatula was perfect for spreading the peanut butter and the chocolate. I'm going to surprise alot of people with these! Thank you!
Made this recipe 5 days ago and it tastes SO YUMMY after sitting in the fridge. Sea salt sprinkle makes it next level and it’s healthy! Super satiating and decadent!
I do something so similar- I make a slit in the dates, fill with PB, and then coat with melted chocolate. They’re extremely addictive! I never thought about flattening them. That’s a great idea!
I was vey dubious about getting the dates to not only meld together, and ride any gaps but hey to my surprise they did. The entire recipe went smoothly for me. Currently it’s in the refrig, can’t wait to taste it.
At first your title fooled me. It brought back memories of when I was young and dating, or courting as our parents called it where I'm from. And it reminded me of foods that always take me back to those carefree and happy days. In fact, I'm 60 now and I'm a grandfather. We're very close with our grandchildren and they're at ages now where they seem to want to be a part of and experience everything Papaw enjoys. I was the same with my Papaw Fred. He and I were close and shared so many special times together. Cooking and food was a huge part of our experiences together. He is a big part of who I am today. And I try to honor him in the things I do with and for my grandkids. For instance, I built a very strong timber swing in our backyard before my oldest grandaughter was old enough to use it. I built it large enough for 3 with an attached see-saw. I remembered the hours of enjoyment I got swinging with my brother on the one Papaw Fred built for us. And our grandkids have sure enjoyed theirs. And they're growing so fast that I'm already preparing for the years ahead for them. For the time when they start dating. I have plans to replace 2 of the swings with a bench swing for two. And I've planted Allegheny Chinquapin trees in the backyard in addition to the many fruits we already grow. And I plan to grow Hazelnuts as well. If you're not familiar, Chinquapins are akin to Chestnuts, but much smaller and somewhat sweeter. And the trees are much smaller and scraggly. Hardly trees at all. I fondly remember long walks in the country after Sunday dinner at my girlfriend's grandparents' house. We'd hold hands and stroll for hours in Autumn among the Fall colored trees. And we'd gather and share chinkie pins, as we called them. I'd shove some in my pocket we'd share on the ride home. My brother and me dated two sisters back then. Such great memories. I want my grandchildren to make those same kinds of memories. The memories that bond families closely together. Thank you for your channel and for allowing Papaw to reminisce.
We made this recipe with 70% dark chocolate chips sweetened with stevia, which doesn’t melt properly but we made it work. These don’t taste like a Snickers but boy are they a nice sweet, decadent treat. Dates are no joke! Hella sweet! Be sure to kinda overlap the dates or you’ll have gaps when you roll them out. Thanks, as always Natasha.
I am just jumping from one video to another, wow , I don't remember when the last time I had so much fun watching some one baking or cooking, love your personality and great sense of humor! You are awesome girl 👌
I made this a couple of days ago and they are wonderful! My peanut butter stays a little soft (it’s Costco natural peanut butter) So I keep them in the freezer… They are really great that way❤. Thank you for this recipe Natasha😃
Thank you for this!!! I've been looking for replacements for the candy I use to give my family for the holidays. I will definatly add the one to my list of goodies. I know they will enjoy them.
For years I’ve stuffed a half medjool date with half of a pecan (sometimes the date is longer and needs two pecan halves, set end to end). Tastes like an amazing pecan pie❤
Great sweet snack!!! For me a bit too sweet so I guess I will add a bit of tiny pieces of chopped dried apricot to give some sourness.. thank you for sharing this recipe!❤
I’ll have to try this and add to my holiday cookies and treats ! Date shakes are also really good they are popular in Palm Springs also date syrup over pancakes
I made something very similar putting the peanut butter in the dates then covering each one in chocolate. Same flavor profile but yours is a bit easier to make for a crowd!
This sounds so good, I love how you made it seem so easy and fun, thank you! I have some pitted chopped dates sitting around. I think I'll try two layers of chocolate for that - just let the first cool and harden without the peanut/nut layer - then flip that over and finish like the recipe. Just 'cause otherwise chopped would probably be sticky.
Also, walnuts are lots healthier than peanuts and the serving size is too big for anyone concerned with blood sugar spikes, date sugar is still sugar, even though there’s a bit of fiber from the nuts and dates to off set it to some extent.
About melting chocolate: if you're new to doing that in the microwave, don't wait for the chips to lose shape; they are actually melting even if they don't appear that way. It would be easy to burn them if you assume they're "not melting" just because they still look like chips. Stir and you'll see.
Ohhhh, I am definitely going to try this one! I make brownies out of dates because they don't spike my diabetic husband's blood sugar, and Snicker's was his favorite candy bar before he got completely off sugar. I will just use Lilly chocolate chips to keep it refined sugar free.
You’re adorable (and very funny), and these look incredible. Snickers candy bars are my favorite, so I’m excited to give these a try. Thank you for the recipe 😊
Great stuff Natash. As you say, this is something you can easily add ingredients to, like pistachios, pecans, coconut flakes and whatever. It's all good with a healthy dose of your crazy humor.
Yum, I’ve been making these with cashew butter and it’s good. But you’ve taught me how to do it properly (rolling the dates 🤯) I just ran out of my last batch so I’ll be making them your way! Thanks 😊 ❤
I make date balls and date bar every Christmas butter eggs dates vanilla, cook till bubbling stir constantly. For dates are melted.remove from heat add rice Krispys.and walnuts.rollinto balls or spread into pan let cool and eat
I am a date and prune fanatic!!!!!! All my life as a dancer, I needed to fix my sweet tooth and get energy to keep going after endless rehearsals. I make date brownies, fudge and even frosting. Nobody can even tell that they are eating something somewhat healthy. Thank you for your spin on this treat. I add sugar free coconut flakes to these.
I could never make a whole sheet of those because I would eat them all in one day. But what I do is I open up three dates, put some Chinese 5-spice on them, then some peanut butter, then a little cacao sprinkled on top and Yum.
Yummo, will be testing these out on my big kids, thankyou 😍 Could you tell me what the dates weigh? I can only get packaged ones where I live in Australia :)
Can’t wait to try these! I usually just stuff a peanut inside the date and dip the date in peanut butter (and sometimes Nutella 😊😬) also tastes like snickers
Used toasted then sugared pumpkin seeds😊 due to a family members peanut allergy. Pumpkin seed butter mixed with brown sugar and bit of vanilla and salt for the centre.
Very good.........used dark chocalate, toasted pecans, and toasted coconut flakes.

I hope you love the recipe!
I’m an avid hiker and I always bring dates stuffed with peanut butter as a snack! So great and delicious for a little carb burst.
@@TheOriginalJLaw Love that idea, thanks!
It turned out absolutely delicious 😋 ❤
I can only imagine any coconut lover will taste this on another level if finish it with a garnish of coconut flakes and 😋😋😍😍
I often watch Natasha's videos, even though I may not be making the specific recipe soon. I just enjoy her humorous presentation style...fun to watch.
Thank you for watching!
I’ll have to try this hack. Currently I just open a medjool date, stuff with peanut butter and a few chocolate chips and eat like that….lazy way but yummy!
I use crunchy peanut butter. Yum. It's all good🎉

No worries ☺️ Thank you for sharing that with us!
I make these individually for the fiber. I never had the genius idea of rolling them out😮😮😮 i cant wait to try it like this.

Me too but chocolate doesn't agree with me so I use melted coconut oil and cocoa, works great!
@@kanases that's a great idea!! Probably also helpful to reduce the amount of sugar
Sounds yum too! Hope you’ll enjoy our version as well.
Finally my husband loves a healthier option, absolutely delicious, I will now try out slightly different toppings.
Wonderful!

Aww…reading this makes my eyes misty. Natasha, now there is a story weaved around your recipe!
Thank you for sharing.. I'll make this ❤ with cashews or pistachios, and almond butter.
You’re welcome! I hope it becomes your new favorite 😊
Tried them last night 😋 they are fantastic 😍 had couple pieces this morning before my hike. So delicious with 0 guilt 😁. Thanks Natasha

Thank you for this!!! I've been looking for replacements for the candy I use to give my family for the holidays. I will definatly add the one to my list of goodies. I know they will enjoy them.
You are so very welcome!
I MUST TRY THESE! I may try using pistachio nuts in place of peanuts. I think chopped pecans would be delicious also. ❤️❤️
Great idea!!
For years I’ve stuffed a half medjool date with half of a pecan (sometimes the date is longer and needs two pecan halves, set end to end). Tastes like an amazing pecan pie❤
The combination of medjool and peanut butter is divine!
They look wonderful! I will have to try them.

Try making even healthier with Almond Butter and sugar free dark chocolate! Sprinkle with Caramel Sea Salt….So yummy!
Yes!
Yes better with another nut butter as peanut butter not good for anyone!!
Also, walnuts are lots healthier than peanuts and the serving size is too big for anyone concerned with blood sugar spikes, date sugar is still sugar, even though there’s a bit of fiber from the nuts and dates to off set it to some extent.
Bet you're fun at a party@@Jamsie27531
Peanuts are higher in protein and antioxidants than almonds. "Healthy" is a matter of what each person needs
Looks so good! And simple to do! Yay!
I will definitely make this! Sounds and looks yummy!❤️
I hope it becomes your new favorite!
I make these all the time but I do individually 😋 so delicious

Sunflower nut butter vs. peanut butter for those who are allergic to peanut butter

@bethovertoncpmmidwife could you recommend a brownie recipe please ? Also @natashaskitchen do the dates need to be softened in water prior to rolling?
I realize some people will think it’s too early, but I saved this to my Christmas cookie list. Thanks 🙏 🤩
Great idea!!
Me too! 😂
I saved this to my Ramadan sweet treats list and Ramadan is over 4 months away! 😅

My Great Aunt use to stuff dates with cream cheese, then roll them in powdered sugar. Simple, and sooooo delicious. 🤗
Those sound delicious.
Rool in crushed nuts
What a great recipe. For those who are allergic to peanuts, you could use almond butter instead and use crushed almonds on top.
Thanks for the tip!
Love watching from Srilanka 🇱🇰😍
Thanks for watching!
Yummo, will be testing these out on my big kids, thankyou 😍 Could you tell me what the dates weigh? I can only get packaged ones where I live in Australia :)
