Congrats James! This was a great achievement, even though the car experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly… It did also pass 88mph, so all it was missing was a flux capacitor 😊
I watched the whole project from start to finish. It was excellent and really looked like it had a lot left in it. I am hoping you'll repair it and try again.
94MPH! - I will tell others 137 :) Woo Hoo! Rossa inspired me to engineer a set of high speed tires. I used 3" ID silicone car turbo tube (5mm thick w/ 3 ply reinforcing) as tires. Cut to 1.5" W rings and Glued them to 3"/2.2" 1:10 scale SC truck wheels. I would recommend 1:8 scale 4" wheels for your projects.
Not many people on the planet have a world record at anything, and you had to work for yours !! Great job, but I think that design has more speed in it. Would love to see you try again !
That was amazing!!! Congratulations on your World Record!!! Take what you learned here on your next build. No strong cross winds next time. Scrub the run if weather conditions are not favorable!! Cheers!!! 007
Well done, you got the record... What you need to do now is look into point of pressure and point of thrust. Add caster to the steering. and also look into overall aero. have a good look at world speed record machines like Bill Fredrick's rochet car. Golden Arrow, Thrust, Speed Demon.....They're all that shape for a reason.
Congratulations james, sorry about the crash, flying has the same possibilitys for a crash, new or old. Thats part of being a person that thinks outside the box. Some things work well, other ideas at times do not. Hang in there james.
Seems a bit slow. I would have thought a jet rc would be faster than the out of box Arma rc cars. Some are breaking 100 mph +. Some of the faster electric are nearing 200 mph.
If your happy an you know it clap your hands .........nice rc speed run hope I'm around for next run time you get it running faster.happy New mph kph and that Kevin Talbot car the sausage man electric rc 4 motor 250.kph sick n speed fast
James, the nose is not a good choice and there's way too much rolling resistance in your tires especially with the downforce the current nose is generating. Scaled for that track they wheels/tires need to be very narrow, hard and fairly tall. You shouldn't need that much downforce in the nose (perfect aerodynamics would be a teensie but under nose lifting, though you won't want to be QUITE that close). I'm sure that you've seen the Bloodhound SSC (pretty much perfect aerodynamics for a rocket car) and that would be an EXCELLENT basis, but at this scale you'll need a wider stance (not the body, just the wheels) and taller wheels/tires because the scale surface that you're running on is MUCH rougher and bumpier than the salt flats. A larger diameter wheel will bridge a lot of the roughness. Tall thin wheels will also act as vertical stabilizers, and you won't have to enclose them because the rolling turbulence that they generate will be negligible. Looking forward to checking up on you. Good luck!
I've wondered the same thing. Asked the question in one of Kevin Talbot's videos. I don't think anyone has responded though. But yeah, seems like you could get way more runup length with FPV.
@@Rahvanteli No. Latency is pretty low, especially with analog systems. If it's good enough for close proximity flying of high speed drones, then I think it's good enough for a long straight runway. 😀
Your nose cone was generating lft thats why it flew up because of the curve u had fast air ontop and slow air below. Also the symmetric areofoils at the back do nothing but increase drag
the reason why the nose breaked should stop you to run second attempt. because , each try, the car defects... then breaks... there must be a machine which shows the condition of the body ...
just watched a video from another RUclipsr who clocked his car (live on video) at almost 170MPH. it's battery powered. I figured Jet powered would be like 300 or something. I wonder why it's so much slower than battery powered?
Check out James Whomsley's backyard aerospace engineering channel Project Air at www.youtube.com/@Project-Air
Fastest RC Car in the World 329 km/h
Congratulations James, great to see you got the record.
Had no idea Guinness did this as a record. I have rocket powered R/C as well, Last time we ran her on the expressway she passed me going over 100 mph
Get it in the game boss! I was thinking 90 something mph was pretty unimpressive. Should be way higher.
Link to video?
@@onjofilms For using a jet engine, 90 is very impressive.
He achieved 137 mph, it just didn't count since the car lost it's nose. So it absolutely is possible to get it much faster, he had bad luck that day.
that's a separate record to the jet powered rc car
Congrats James! This was a great achievement, even though the car experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly… It did also pass 88mph, so all it was missing was a flux capacitor 😊
Oh wow a Elon Musk vocabulary !
Project Air is a great RUclips channel!
Watching tiny vehicles whiz along so quickly is a real thrill. So actually running them must be truly exhilarating.
Well done young man loved it. Keep going
I actually watched his video on the creation of the car and am happy to see that the record got officially recognized!
I watched the whole project from start to finish. It was excellent and really looked like it had a lot left in it.

Holy chit he did it! Congratulazioni James! Bravo ,e belle colpo!
Very impressive. Don't give up, go for broke and break your own record.
Congrats ProjectAir
Keep going with the amazing achievements!
This is so cool i didn’t even thing an rc car can go that fast🎉
The world record for battery powered rc car is 219mph
Congratulations kuya James. It was exciting to see the car get the record and saddening when it was destroyed.
👌🏾🫡💪🏽🤙🏾....Absolutely Awesome....This is about to be attempted every year🤞🏾
Nice pull Brah, considering . Not long ago you started with 3 sticks and some wheels . Go Team Project Air. !!
Remember the sentence... Hardwork is the key to success.. 💫
So happy you got it!
Crazy watching something so small go so quick looked a hell of a lot faster than it was
Super cool stuff 😮
Thought this was a Project Air video at first. Cool to see Guinness gave him his own video, but kinda weird it’s just a rip of James’ video
Interesting and cool world record - congratulations!
crazy that sam is about to throw down 100mph plus with motors. you'd think jet power would be faster 😹
great video!!! ^w^
Proud of you and create more World Records
Not many people on the planet have a world record at anything, and you had to work for yours !! Great job, but I think that design has more speed in it. Would love to see you try again !
Great job James!!!
Very cool project. Congratulations. It was a lot of work I imagine.
Congratulation brother, love from india
Calling them “cars” is a bit of a misnomer. They are really just a jet engine on wheels. 👍👍👍
Ha ha that’s just so funny
Awesome, great things might happen when you tinker around with tech…inspiring 🎉🎉🎉
This deserves a Thrust 2 scale mock-up
That was amazing!!!
Congratulations on your World Record!!!
Take what you learned here on your next build. No strong cross winds next time. Scrub the run if weather conditions are not favorable!!
Cheers!!!

Congrats!!!
great work James anyway, you got the record dude
Brilliant that you kept trying!
I’m certain I watched this months ago. Congratulations all the same!
I didn't know a jet powered car was a world record. 97mph seems slow though compared to the rc car speed record

Awesome work, you need FPV on that jet car. Break another record.
well done! 👍
you can redesign it, and i'm sure you can go faster!
from Australia.
wow and congrats! does that have afterburners?
Congratulations James
Welcome to the future add plasma aerodynamics
Cheers
Bro went faster than lightspeed
kevin talbot was there to, there are some more clips of this car on talbots channel, also on james's channel.
I have been waiting with baited breath from the rebuild and the re-run. Do you have some time lines?
Really should get with Raz for a lot of your parts. His stuff is amazing and will cut down on some of the weight potentially
New Record, awesome. Does that bring new motivation to continue, improve, and raise this record to some incredible speed ? The car has it in it.
3D printing is amazing for prototyping, but for record breaking attempts he should really get some fibre glass/carbon fibre body panels.
Very cool!
Did anyone else come here expecting a much higher speed? I was expecting 200mph lol.
He got the record!
That is some crazy speed😮
Ohh now I realised I'm in wrong channel 😂😂
Back to the drawing board good luck, hope to see you break your own record..
so sorry - but woooohoooooo!!! congrats
Fantastic safety. Fences that every car can drive under?
he actually did it proud of him
It was very impressive I'd say rebuild add some dive planes for a little down force and try it again
You do know those same tires are going over 200mph in other cars. So they should be the least of your worries
Congratulations james, sorry about the crash, flying has the same possibilitys for a crash, new or old. Thats part of being a person that thinks outside the box. Some things work well, other ideas at times do not. Hang in there james.
Cant wait for version 3.0 make it wider with a functional air brake like bugatti esk
Which model of jet engine is that by the way?
Nice
Kevin Talbot was there for sure!!
How do you steer at such speeds without oversteer? How do you steer when visual feedback disappears due to distance?
Have you ever thought about adding an electric motor and fan to suck the car down to the runway? Like the Brabham fan car?
Congratulations on the World record. Terrific job, but everything comes at a price.
You can hear Kevin cheering in background after speeds were relayed.
You would think that the tire manufacturer would have prebalanced the tires before shipping them to the customer.
Seems a bit slow. I would have thought a jet rc would be faster than the out of box Arma rc cars. Some are breaking 100 mph +. Some of the faster electric are nearing 200 mph.
If you watch his video, it 100% had more in it, but ended up breaking up due to user error. It’ll be back with a vengeance
Well he did crash at 140 so....
AAAWWW It's a shame about the crash. I bet if you had a calm day and another (guessing) $8000 bucks to rebuild it, that car would hit 150+ easy.
Maybe add a parachute you could pull after the finish line?
🙏 BALI INDONESIA 🇮🇩
In order for a landspeed record to stand you have to make two runs back to back and take the average of the two.
try skatebord wheels next time
Imagine being faster than a old van
3:56 rear right wheel looks to be at a horrible angle
ROSSA was the event you attended why not actually mention them in your video
If your happy an you know it clap your hands .........nice rc speed run hope I'm around for next run time you get it running faster.happy New mph kph and that Kevin Talbot car the sausage man electric rc 4 motor 250.kph sick n speed fast
Late upload.. watched Talbot's vid a while ago.
This RC car reminds me of "Thrust II"

Richard Hammond, the scale version.
a jet car could actually be incredibly fast around corners because you could angle the jec slightly down to get hella downforce
I wonder if this would be easier with fpv compared to LOS

Too much latency?

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Let's go!!
All I've got to say is pull air through the turbine from the bottom of the car and you will shatter records
so what were the 2 unofficial recorded dodgy speeds of the car when it unfortunately crashed ?
i think it reached 137mph but it did not count since the nose cone fell off (which sucks because he simply forgot the 2 bolts)
What is that bloodhound SSC rc version 🗿
Congrats on the record but mate did you really taped the car and tried to run 100 mph?
I'd liked to have heard ALL the sounds at the track and of the car. No music.

U needed rudders to be able to steer it in that cross wind
Kevin talbot should see this 😄
He was there watching it.
