    I've seen a lot of Western woodworking, but much of craftsmen wasn't fit four side of the panel into the grooves like you do. I really like you doing that. The handles are also beautifully done. Thank you for sharing.

    No CNC or robots here. I don't think people really comprehend how difficult what he is doing here in these videos. Also how skilled you have to be to do work like this. Ive been woodworking since 2020 I follow you on here and insta. very inspiring

    Using the hollow mortise chisel for the square plug holes is genius. I don’t even have one of those machines but I might buy a 3/8 chisel just for this.

      Lee Valley/Veritas also makes a square hole punch/chisel that works well for this.

    Love the craftsmanship! It's almost woodworking season here in Arizona, another month or so until I can spend time out in the garage. Your work does inspire me to try some more advanced joinery. We'll see! Look forward to your next video, love the content!

    Great joinery. Have you ever had your hollow-chisel mortise drill bit hop outside of the line the chisel makes? It's happened a few times to me, I get a nice square hole with a little sliver of a crescent moon on one of the sides. Any tips for preventing it? They're sharp powermatic chisels.

      @cleancutwoodworks  10 месяцев назад

      I’ve never had that happen, but it’s probably a machine setup issue. I’d start by checking that the chisel/drill is square to the fence, make sure the bit is REALLY secure in the chuck, and the chisel/bit head space is set accurately.

    I’m a new woodworker so please forgive if this is a stupid question. At about the 3:50 mark of your video, you put something square over a round drill bit to make a square hole for the square dowel. Can you please tell me what that is?

    • @cleancutwoodworks
      @cleancutwoodworks  10 месяцев назад

      Of course - It’s the outer (chisel) part of a ‘hollow chisel mortiser’ bit. That’s the machine at the very beginning of the video. 👊

      Peggy,
      There's no such thing as a stupid question...just a stupid answer, that was a perfectly great question.
      You can use a hollow chisel mortiser to cut square holes but you risk damaging your chisel, they are not made for beating on.
      Try using this instead
      Lee Valleys' 50K5920, Square Hole Punches, set of 6
      They're made for that purpose.
      Cheers,
