Hi Sandy! I learn a lot from your van. I am retired Vietnamese and also a new solo woman campervan. I own a Dodge campervan, and like you my son built me: a bed, a sink, some wirings. I also have a refrigerator, and couple fans and everything are run by Jackery 1000. I wish to meet you; and to know you more, can you tell me your website?

I’m in my 70’s with no camping experience. I bought a cargo van that I plan to build myself on a budget. Despite watching 100’s of RUclips videos, I was feeling that I had to have everything planned out to perfection in order to venture out. Tremendous thanks both of you for this thorough tour and interview that helps me to relax my rigid expectations and learn as I go. Also to offset some fleeting thoughts that I’m too old to travel alone. Take care and be well to both of you.

I love this. Ms Sandy has come up with a solution for every glitch she has run into. As a nurse I see so many people getting to an age where they cling to their home. It's what they know and feel safe in. I love it that she has created an amazing home to get out and LIVE.

I'm glad to know flooring can go over auto carpet. That carpet will act as an insulator. Unless you are boondocking for more than a week a high quality ice chest should be more than adequate. Kudos to you for continuing the travels after your husband's passing.

Does Sandy have her own channel?? we are the same age and I just got a van for travels. love her set up. one main question she answered for me, I can put vinyl flooring over carpet!! I will be doing that for sure. love this lady!! suggestion --flip up shelf on the other door with a small round hold to hold her one burner stove, propane on bottom with burner on top thru the hole so it stabilizes the cooker top, can be used in or out. I would love to see more elderly vans videos.

She’s so nice and practical! I got a van today and if I’m ever around you Patrick, I’d love to show it to you. It’s a 2011 Ford TrNsit Connect XLT cargo van with a mini conversion. I think it will be perfect for when I want to urban stealth camp or travel quicker than with the A-liner trailer. I love my A-liner trailer and it’s really easy to tow, but you can’t just pull off the freeway and pop up the trailer for lunch and a nap without getting a knock on the door! Lol. Anyways, really excited to do some weekends in the van. I don’t need a full or even partial kitchen, I’m very cool with camping or I like to try new restaurants anyway. I usually only need to boil water which I can do with a 1 burner butane stove or my pocket rocket backpacking stove (coffee, noodles, Mountain House meals). I use a urinal in my trailer for nighttime needs now or campground/restaurants bathrooms, so that’s compact and easy to pour into a laundry soap container. I have some emergency supplies if I had to go #2, but a cat hole works fine too. The less the better. A spray bottle of Dr Bronners/water/white vinegar & a 2 liter pressurized garden sprayer works great to wash dishes. Dude wipes for me or Lysol wipes for cleaning surfaces. A tiny broom/dust pan. Even though I have the solar system, since I’m not too familiar with it yet, I’ll bring my jackery station, which I’m able to use at a picnic table. Hopefully I’ll learn to travel lighter and thus open space in my life to enjoy things more rather than ‘manage things’ that don’t bring me joy.

Great video. I also a 72 year old widow. I'm in the process of building my van. It's not a full size. It's a passenger wagon. 12 seater all glass. I love it. Seats are gone. Working on the inside now. Great tips, I really appreciate this so much.

Great job Sandy that's what I'm talkin about.. DIY is the way to go and you did it yourself that is awesome.. don't be one of those fools to buy a brand new van already built house and then you're going to pay 17 to $80,000 when you can easily make your own for pennies on the dollar I'm living proof because I did it also.. we solar panels batteries off grid 100%

I just think that they don’t think the van would work for them not that they didn’t like her or the tour

Don't be fooled my dear there's tons and tons of good used vans out there.. I paid $3,000 for my van two-and-a-half years ago it's a E350 Econoline van heavy duty I must say I love it.. it beats spending $70,000 for empty brand new van..🤔🤔🤔

Sandy is amazingly clever! I, too, I have been camping for decades, but I learned some really great things from her in this build. Her resourcefulness and practicality are inspiring. Thank you so much for this video.

What a great lady. Her attitude is awesome, love how she keeps herself organized. So brave to rip out the bed when she realized it wasn't serving her properly

Patrick thanks so much for sharing this budget friendly, practical build. I love her spunk and it’s awesome she’s so resourceful at her age. I would love to be able to build a similar van but at the moment vans are near impossible to come by that are affordable.

I love that she is an older woman out there still enjoying her life, and at the same time, taking care of her needs. She, and her build, are an inspiration!!
