Po saying he's not hungry after the dumpling duel with Shifu is a wonderful moment when you recall Oogway's earlier observation that Po eats when he's upset. This film is so good at balancing humour, action and properly mature and moving character drama, it's absolutely insane
I love that dumpling duel scene which was a display on how these two evolved and feed of from each other. Po from what you mentioned and Shifu shown to be visibly happy and excited which was previously explained that he stopped doing after Tai Lung
I think what is missed on a lot of people is how much po fits tigress’s description of the dragon warrior. She says “The dragon warrior can survive for months off nothing but the dew of a single ginkgo leaf” and truly believes that it cannot be about po. But oogway correctly reads po when he says “you eat when you are upset”, which is not a metaphor in the slightest. Po is literally only hungry when he is upset, as soon as he is ok with himself his hunger is gone. His self reliance is also very briefly touched on in the second and third movies. When po finds inner peace at the end of the second movie there is a small scene that is played for laughs. He catches the first fireball and strikes a pose only to reveal that his hand was on fire. He hops around before putting it out in his mouth, instead of the oceans around him. This is played as a joke but gets across an important point. He could be doing this anywhere, he could be in a desert devoid of water and he could still put himself out. He doesn’t NEED his environment to take care of himself.
I also love the symbolism in that scene. The dragon scroll shows everyone who looks at it something different. When shifu first looks he has his whole world rocked. Shifu expected a detailed description of the secrets of the dragon warrior. The scroll shows him that he is arrogant in his beliefs. When Po looks at it he doesn’t understand it, but it keeps showing him his face (unlike shifu who saw the reflection of the dragon on the ceiling). Later he learns that there isn’t a secret ingredient, and that he just has to believe in himself. That was the message the scroll was telling po. Finally when tai lung looks at it he throws it down in rage, believing it is refusing to yield the secrets and when he does it shows po’s reflection again. What the scroll revealed to tai lung is that no matter what, even if he achieves all his goals, he isn’t the dragon warrior. Po is
What I love is that Po is the chosen dragon warrior because he has the perfect backstory to understand "there is no secret ingredient" as that's his father's whole thing he was raised to believe and he knows the power of believing it's special. This is highlighted by the 5 loving his soup "without the secret" because they don't know there's supposed to be something more. Reversely they think the dragon warrior is supposed to have that special ingredient, but it doesn't.
yeah i love how they foreshadowed the Dragon warrior scroll. When he made them soup and mentioned that his fathers is much better because of the secret ingredient and their immediate response is "I don't know what you are talking about, this is amazing."
I've seen this movie dozens of times, both on its own and while watching reaction videos. For some reason, the line "We do not wash our pits in the pool of sacred tears" had ME in tears tonight.
Shifu and Oogway's discussion on philosophies is always one of my favorite scenes. Just two masters talking about their differing views, both with valid points, but ultimately Oogway's many many... _many_ more years of experience and wisdom get through to Shifu, allowing Oogway the peace he needed to finally pass on. Just wonderful all around ❤️
Oogway represents Taoism and Shifu represents Confucianism. Taoism is the belief of natural harmony and going with the flow of life. Confucianism is the belief of order and government.
My favourite part about it is when you realize that Oogway wasn't arguing with Shifu. He was just trying to get him to realize that he was only seeing PART of the truth.
I love that it turns out Poe is a natural prodigy and learns everything just by seeing it once like the finger hold. He has his own unconventional style, but he truly is the dragon warrior.
There is a very short moment after Shifu apologizes to Tai Lung that encapsulates his character and makes you realize there's more there than just anger. When shifu apologizes, he doubts himself for just a moment, almost as though realizing that maybe he was going too far, but then brings himself back as though saying to himself he has, indeed, already gone too far and wants to see it through. He did not see redemption in forgiving Shifu and atonement, only in power at that point. There are even better moments in the second movie from Po and the villain that, like many others, I suggest you watch.
I remember going to see this in theaters when I was 13 years old. It definitely had me laughing, but I also almost cried when Master Oogway passed. Then of course my favorite heartwarming moment was when Mr. Ping told Po about the secret ingredient. There’s no secret to success. The moral is that you just have to believe in yourself. You are your greatest weapon. And people may laugh about Po being Mr. Ping’s son, but family isn’t always about blood. Po didn’t grow up alone. Mr. Ping raised him, and that makes him his father.
(In response to the title of this video.) Now you do, Addie. Fun reaction, BTW. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Kung Fu Panda (2008). As an Asian-American, this is one of my favorite animated movies that I watched, growing up. The moment Po uses a chair that's strapped with fireworks to get to the Dragon Warrior festival, his mishaps in the Training Hall, and him fighting Master Shifu for the last dumpling was hilarious. Now I'm in the mood for some dumplings after having seen this movie on Saturday. I do hope that you'll skadoosh your way through the entire Kung Fu Panda film series by watching its two sequels as well.
Got high one day in my 20s and went TV shopping with my cousin. This movie just happened to be starting on one of the TVs we were looking at. We stood there and watched the entire movie. One of my favorites now.
This is my favorite movie. I've seen it a hundred times and i still laugh uncontrollably at the entire fight between Po and Tai Lung. It's so ridiculous and Tai Lung wasn't ready for the absurdity. He was trained to deal with Kung Fu like his fight with the furious five. Not a panda chasing him in a cart filled with explosive fireworks.
I don't think Po has a crush on Tigress, but she definitely seems to be his favorite, judging by how he interacts with his action figures at the beginning.
Who would have thought that the cute leopard cub would grow up to run the Continental. LOL ... imagine that crossover. Tai Lung and John Wick side by side. Their fight is pretty cool! 32:06 ... when he bites his own tail and we hear that kitty mew! hahahaha That's my favorite scene of the first movie. Take care of yourself, Addie!! Hope to see Ollie for the part 2!!
@@rickmartini5504 The first half of the third movie is certainly the weakest. The second half might be the best, in my opinion. Still, all three are in my top 20.
I slept on this movie for a while, and finally watched it not long ago. It was so much better than I was expecting. The art's cool and lots of good jokes. All 3 of them are really good.
I think not many reactors understand Tai Lung's motives. He never asked to be the Dragon Warrior. Shifu was the one who put him into this mindset. Shifu was the one who put him through sleepless nights, broken bones, and a head full of dreams. Tai Lung wasted all his life to be the son Shifu wanted him to be, and only wanted to prove himself to him. "All I ever did, I did to make you proud! Tell me how proud you are!" .... He worked so hard to please his dad and to achieve what his father wanted from him - He was the opposite of Po. And when Oogway refused - It's not the fact that he hasn't got the scroll, that got him to mentally snap...It was the fact his adoptive father did not stood up for him, did not support him, did not comfort him... Tai Lung snapped just he felt betrayed - He worked so hard all his life, and it's still wasn't enough. He always assumed Shifu's love was conditional - he felt he was a disappointment to Shifu by not getting the Scroll.. So he let out his anger that he had boiled up, and tried to take it by force to prove he's worthy...If not to Shifu, then at least to himself. And for that - He was sent to a prison build just for him, where he was abused for twenty years
I absolutely adore this trilogy! And Jack Black is such a legend, he can be a big, good natured, poofy panda, who loves kung fu almost as much as he loves food, but also an ill tempered, and rather insecure turtle/dragon thing with a surprisingly good singing voice. This trilogy, and the How To Train Your Dragon trilogy are among my favorite movies.
Kung Fu Panda will forever have a special place in my heart. Makes me miss movie night sleepovers with my highschool girlfriend. Glad you enjoyed it so much.
So glad you're on the Kung Fu Panda train Addie!! This movie is amazing, with wit and charm and emotion and heart. Also, this is one of those rare trilogies where every movie just nails the target, so please watch the other two. Thanks for yet another wonderful and sweet Addie reaction!! 😊❤ P.S. Love your top!
The three greatest callbacks in this movie are the feather being how Tai Lung escapes (from Oogway's comment of "one often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it", which is what happened, if Shifu hadn't sent the bird, Tai Lung wouldn't have escaped), Po saying he's not hungry at the end of training (after Oogway's earlier comment that Po eats when he's upset, meaning Po is not longer upset, so he's not hungry), and the failure of the nerve attacks at the end of the final fight scene. In fact, that fight seen has more awesome ones; the tree that smacked Po as he tried to get in to see who would be the Dragon Warrior, the bun chopstick combat, and the rocket chair. It's all so well done. Great reaction! ... Watch the other two... they are worth it. A lot. This one is _probably_ the best, but it's not that much of a reduction going to 2 and 3 (which are basically tied). (Small note: "Shifu" means "Master" in Chinese (Cantonese mostly), so... "Master Shifu" is "Master Master". ... Oh, and Tai Lung is pretty close to "Great Dragon" if you squint hard.) Have a nice day!
As everyone else in the comments will be saying, watch all 3. The music, the story, the characters and to even be able to mention the choreography of the fights in an animated film. Such a good little series. Also to add that pandas in real life pandas are extremely clumsy, so the way they wrote his character and his actions fit perfectly with the animal.
its irritating how many people haven't watched these movies. they are so so great. fun fact I've heard: shifu actually translates to master.. hes adressed as 'master master' ^^
notice the subtle differences when Po sees the scroll and what he says vs when tai lung see's it and what he says. Po - it's blank. Tai - it's nothing. Po is the definition of life is not just what we get, but also what we make it. Just like an artist decides what should be made in his canvas, it is in our hands to decide how our life should be. A blank canvas can be turned into anything. As opposed to Tai lung who was brought up/raised being fed he was great and he was destined to be the dragon warrior, his canvas was filled with that in mind/his end goal so that's all he ever sought to be, he never considered an alternative path.
One of the best-animated movies and kung fu films to ever be released. Knew nothing about it when it was released but it instantly took me back to the cheesy Shaw Brothers films I used to watch as a kid in the 80s.
I'm SO glad that u included the wisdom speech by Oogway(13:00-ish). That was my favourite lines. Would love to see ur reaction to the whole trilogy. N maybe Puss in Boots too in the near future(especially The Last Wish). Fun movie n fun reaction Ms Addie!👍🏼
Your reactions are some of the most fun on all the international Web. Thank you. I think Oogway's passing was one of the most beautiful and gentle ones in all of cinema. All the casting was perfect. I loved "yesterday was history, tomorrow a mystery, and today is a gift... that's why they call it the present." Great writing. And the idea for the Dragon Scroll was also used in an old 1978 Kung Fu movie THE CIRCLE OF IRON.
This movie was one of last incredible animated movies that I watched, that combined children's humor with adult themes and lessons, all packaged into a wholesome family entertainer; almost a throwback to classic Disney.
I always enjoy your reactions but for some reason I really especially liked your reaction to this one! The scene where Tai Lung escapes prison might actually be up there as one of my favorite action scenes in any movie. I can't wait for you to watch the second one, which is one of those movies that has a moment where I get teary eyed like every time I watch it
Addie you are Pure Awesomeness! Great Reaction! I luv this movie and the others in this series! I hope you continue the trilogy.Luv ya Addie ❤💛 Luv "THEE BIG FAT PANDA! "🐼
Looking forward to your reactions to the rest of the movies. Two is my favorite, and three brings a full circle. All of them are really good. I've heard there is a fourth movie in the works, delayed by the strike, but close to completion, by the way.
I don't normally go for modern animated films as an adult. (I will always enjoy the classics. Lol) Most have been too directed towards children, in my opinion. However, HTTYD and the Kung Fu Panda series are some of my favorites. Great stories, inspirational messages, awesome cast (I mean, JACKIE CHAN!!??).
Speaking of crushes. There's a prevailing theory that Snake has a crush of Po. If you watch the other movies. see if you can see that for yourself. Also a cool little bit that often gets overlooked. Shifu's mustache is uneven. Because of Tai Lung tearing part of it off when he was a baby.
I love the bridge fight when tigress confronts tai lung she still keeps her confidence/arrogance claiming that she could be the dragon warrior but as the bridge sways and rocks his balance is perfect while she keeps adjusting her footwork to maintain her balance visualising the difference in their skill
yay. yeah when i was in the theater, i was not prepared for how good this was going to be. i just sat in for another cartoon and it frickin' blew me away. i think this was the first dreamworks movie that did that for me. and then HTTYD kept the tradition going.
When the film first came out it caused a debate in the Chineese govenment. Basically, it went "How can the decadent capitalist running dogs of America of all places make a film that is so funny, so wise and also so respectful of both Kung Fu and China... and we can't?"
Thank you so much for this awesome reaction 🐼🤍🖤 I’m certain you’ll love the next two Kung Fu Panda movies if you decide to watch them (unless you already did) but as someone else suggested, you’ll love other Jack Black films :) May I suggest in addition to the great sequels to the cult movie Jumanji, there’s also the movie about Jack Black real rock band called Tenacious D, and the movie is a grazy gem 💎
Addie I could watch you every hour of every day, you bring such joy and fun to your reactions, but there is one mystery I wonder if you can solve for me? As many other people do I watch other reactors as well and here is where the mystery is, take for instance LouiseJulie when she presents her videos, say like The Ashoka series as an example, the title is right in the middle of the video at all times and the sound is turned down quite a bit and this is the same for quite a few others. I asked her one day why she did it that way and she mentioned it was because of having to be aware of copyright. Thus the mystery is what is the difference between your presentation and there's? I"m just curious, to me your way of presenting your reactions and video is the Gold standard I wish all reactors could follow:)
Great reaction to a great movie. Considering animated movies, may I suggest a few that you probably haven't seen... especially cause they're not made for children... quite the opposite : - Perfect Blue (1997): a pshychological thriller - The Suicide Shop (2012): a comedy/musical - The Prodigies (2011): a sci-fi/drama/thriller They're all not well renown, but each, for its own reasons, definitely worth a watch. And I'd like to see more reactors giving them a shot.
The movies just get better from here. Po is on a hero's journey, and in this movie he took his first steps. He still has much to learn, and much to teach.
It reaches beyond its fantastic animation. This is a legit kung-fu movie classic amongst the same ranks as other true kung-fu classics that Jackie Chan and others made into a genre of their own.
This movie has no right to be as good as it is. The story...the action...the message...the humour... I love the how themes are reintroduced throughout the film (chopsticks/dumpling and the stilts/dragon scroll, Shifu training Po and Po/Tai-Lung fight, Secret of the dragon scroll and the secret ingredient soup, etc...) Can't wait for your reactions to Kung Fu Panda 2/3 ^.^
🐼👍 There are three CGI animated franchises in which each successive entry is as good or better than the one before it: "Kung Fu Panda," "How To Train Your Dragon" and "Toy Story." With all the other popular ones (i.e. "Shrek," "Ice Age" etc) there is a noticeable drop in quality after the second film. Other than the "Panda" and "Dragon," series, Dreamworks' best animated films are the one-offs like "Over The Hedge" (2006), "Flushed Away" (2006) and "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" (2014).
OMG Addie! I have the same onesie. Did you get it from onesiesdownunder as well? So cool finding out one of my favorite reactors actually having bought a onesie from the same little/abdl store as me 🥰
Addie: (in reference to Po after he gathers a ‘love chunk’ souvenir while staring admiringly towards Tigress after she performs a perfect split on some rubble) Does he have a little crush? Me: (grinning in shipper) The possibility certainly exists…

Maturing is realizing tai lung isnt the villain it’s shifu tai lung is just a product of what happened to him decades of training and promises only to not get what he gave his life for you can’t really blame him for being angry

notice the subtle differences when Po sees the scroll and what he says vs when tai lung see's it and what he says.
I absolutely love this movie. It never gets old.
And the idea for the Dragon Scroll was also used in an old 1978 Kung Fu movie THE CIRCLE OF
IRON.
Yesterday is *History.* Tomorrow is a *Mystery.* But today is a *Gift.* That's why we call it *The Present.* I love this quote.
Well deserved and an excellent super fun reaction!! 🎉 🪅 🐼 🌅 !!

Vergil: "i will show you real motivated"
This movie was one of last incredible animated movies that I watched, that combined children's humor with adult themes and lessons, all packaged into a wholesome family entertainer; almost a throwback to classic Disney.
I always enjoy your reactions but for some reason I really especially liked your reaction to this one!
The scene where Tai Lung escapes prison might actually be up there as one of my favorite action scenes in any movie.
I can't wait for you to watch the second one, which is one of those movies that has a moment where I get teary eyed like every time I watch it
you need to watch COCO next, before day of the dead next month your going to love that disney movie
Addie is like a proud mom lol it was healing my mommy issues watching her be so proud
Same. Dreamworks Studios animation really hits different.
Great reaction 👍❤️
The best part about Po's kung fu dream is is painfully apparent need for a thesaurus. 😂
Oh My God, Thank you
Most epic one-liner of any hero in animation:
"Shifu didn't teach you that!"
"No.. I figured it out... skadoosh 👌"
It is a beautiful movie. Loved your wholesome reaction!
I love the bridge fight when tigress confronts tai lung she still keeps her confidence/arrogance claiming that she could be the dragon warrior but as the bridge sways and rocks his balance is perfect while she keeps adjusting her footwork to maintain her balance visualising the difference in their skill
“Yesterday is history,
tomorrow is a mystery,
and today is a gift... that's why they call it present” 🐼🐢
yay. yeah when i was in the theater, i was not prepared for how good this was going to be. i just sat in for another cartoon and it frickin' blew me away. i think this was the first dreamworks movie that did that for me. and then HTTYD kept the tradition going.
Please continue with Star Trek.
Which one? I love TNG but she should start on TOS...
...or did I miss her start one already?
When the film first came out it caused a debate in the Chineese govenment. Basically, it went "How can the decadent capitalist running dogs of America of all places make a film that is so funny, so wise and also so respectful of both Kung Fu and China... and we can't?"
Thank you so much for this awesome reaction 🐼🤍🖤
I’m certain you’ll love the next two Kung Fu Panda movies if you decide to watch them (unless you already did) but as someone else suggested, you’ll love other Jack Black films :) May I suggest in addition to the great sequels to the cult movie Jumanji, there’s also the movie about Jack Black real rock band called Tenacious D, and the movie is a grazy gem 💎
Yes, Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle is great.
Jesus is real and he loves you I hope you can realise this and turn to Him God bless you 🙏🏽❤️..
@@henrytjernlundJesus is real and he loves you I hope you can realise this and turn to Him God bless you 🙏🏽❤️
Film 1 is mastering his body, film 2 is mastering his mind, and film 3 is mastering his spirit.
love this movie! perfect casting for all roles...
Hi Addie. Poe's outfit in his dream strongly resembles his outfit in the late part of film #3. Keep that in mind.
Can't wait for you to watch the second one 😁
Great reaction to a great movie.
Considering animated movies, may I suggest a few that you probably haven't seen... especially cause they're not made for children... quite the opposite :
- Perfect Blue (1997): a pshychological thriller
- The Suicide Shop (2012): a comedy/musical
- The Prodigies (2011): a sci-fi/drama/thriller
They're all not well renown, but each, for its own reasons, definitely worth a watch. And I'd like to see more reactors giving them a shot.
The movies just get better from here. Po is on a hero's journey, and in this movie he took his first steps. He still has much to learn, and much to teach.
“Steps.” He hates stairs.😂😂
@@HaydenWerren😄 As well he should. Po's experiences with stairs are always painful.
7:28 Nani?!
I love your reaction 😍🔥 you're awesome❤️
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
I so love James Hong.
He's Po's dad. :)
Make sure to have a full Kleenex box ready when you watch King Fu Panda 2!
My favorite Oogway wisdom: "A man often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it."
Every time I see this movie being reacted to, I remember how utterly awesome it is, even with 2 and 3 existing!
It reaches beyond its fantastic animation. This is a legit kung-fu movie classic amongst the same ranks as other true kung-fu classics that Jackie Chan and others made into a genre of their own.
This movie has no right to be as good as it is. The story...the action...the message...the humour... I love the how themes are reintroduced throughout the film (chopsticks/dumpling and the stilts/dragon scroll, Shifu training Po and Po/Tai-Lung fight, Secret of the dragon scroll and the secret ingredient soup, etc...)
Can't wait for your reactions to Kung Fu Panda 2/3 ^.^
YESSSS
So cool finding out one of my favorite reactors actually having bought a onesie from the same little/abdl store as me 🥰
Got in the top 45 likes of a brand new Addie upload!!!!! 👍🏿👍🏿 #thingsanADDIEaddictgetexcitedabout 🖐🏿
Addie: (in reference to Po after he gathers a ‘love chunk’ souvenir while staring admiringly towards Tigress after she performs a perfect split on some rubble) Does he have a little crush?
Me: (grinning in shipper) The possibility certainly exists…
"Does that pig have a five-o-clock shadow?" - The Funniest Thing I've Heard Since 1986
What happened in 1986?
@@YourXavier It's too risky to even recall. I was only 6 at the time, and my mind has dissociated it completely. Sometimes I break into spontaneous laughter for no discernable reason for minutes at a time. I fear for the safety and sanity of every living thing if ever I remember.
@@TheWizardsTales That's fair.
Some things shouldn't be told.
I recommend Jack Black again in Jumanji The Next Level 👌.
Maturing is realizing tai lung isnt the villain it’s shifu tai lung is just a product of what happened to him decades of training and promises only to not get what he gave his life for you can’t really blame him for being angry
Must watch all 3. There is no dud amongst them. Plus the third reveals a 500 year old secret of the Dragon Warrior.
Ian McShane is EPIC in Deadwood, a tv show you should totally watch.
I hope you enjoy the second movie. The second villain is the main villain of the whole series due to causing the events to happen in the first place.
What I love about this movie is one of the only true martial artists on set being Jackie Chan who plays monkey barely gets any lines 😅
It's so amazing that po was able to learn kung fu at a fast rate
Really? Years of study and moving around a cramped kitchen is not a good primer?
Definitely, keep going. It’s a great trilogy ☺️
