- Hey guys! I've started thinking about warmer weather and outdoor projects. These columns needed updated badly but we didn't want to drop hundreds of dollars on new columns so we decided to just wrap our existing ones to give them a new updated look and I couldn't be happier with how they turned out! I hope that this if helpful to you guys and that your able to update your home for less too!

Thank you!!!! I’ve been trying to figure out how to do this since my posts are right at the edge of my porch. Your video answered all my questions!!! Well done. Thank you so much!!!
So good as usual, Noelle.👏🏻😍
I will b doing this towards the end of May I will use your link
Awesome! So glad to help!
For PVC boards, they sell specialty screws with caps, instead of a brad nailer.
Looks good but if want any other color than white, cedar boards would be preferable. Not easy to paint PVC.
Caulk and paint make a carpenter what he aint.
What a difference! It looks fantastic 😍
Do you have an update? columns still going strong?
We are in the process of covering our post. This came out just in time ☺️ You guys did a great job!
Oh good!! I’m so glad I could help!!
Is the material in contact with the concrete? If it is how do you control moisture?
It's PVC. Moisture is not a concern.
Great idea. Came out great..Have you thought of painting the shutters the same color? That would look really nice
Why did you get something that had to be painted
I bet that gap was tight!!!!!
I need to do this too but I have this weird arched top detail over the whole top of the posts. In other words, it will be tricky.
I think I know what your talking about! I wonder if it’s removable?? Or if you could cut it off with a multitool
Stop using dap. It will crack. Use SW power house
They look great! Now I will attempt the same thing. Wish me luck!
Wow! Helpful, attention to detail & looks great. Thanks. I am doing this, but with a natural wood stain for that country outdoor feel. Hope it turns out 🙏🏽
Should we use seal between the pvc and the concrete at the bottom? Thanks
Excelent
I definitely needed this video. My porch columns look the same and I think I could do this project.
Great job!! Great video! Thanks for the idea!!
Hi, 2 years later are they still holding up? I am considering doing the same thing to some metal columns on my awning.
Yes they are!
Wholesome couple. Thank you for sharing.
Looks GREAT guys! 😍Awesome idea! 😁
Thanks girl! 😊
Hi, what size was the trim you used?
nice upgrade
Look great simple but beautiful
Oh thank goodness for your video. I was just researching the premade PVC wrap kits that have the locking systems and all, and they are beyond expensive! This is the way to go!
I have been too however I do not want anything I have to paint
Will be hard to get past if not purchasing straight up pre-fab column wraps which are far more expensive.. Painting wasn’t so bad fyi. Easier than doing a room, that’s for sure.
Great job!! Look like your first nail gun job,lol
Thank you! I’ve actually used the mail gun many times before I just thought it was hilarious that every time a shot one the air blew my hair back 😂
Love it bye
❤❤❤ Tyfs HUGS
Enjoyed.
Wow so nice!
Gggg
By 24 $ per sheet plus the cost of the end pieces you could have just purchased a full column wrap set for less and have no gaps and a way better outcome
We’re looking at Colums like this and their very expensive , like 700 each for a pvc wrap .
@@tiffanybright3151No, you can get a much cheaper than that.I have found them
Yeah, from research I did, a single pre-fab column wrap kit cost more than the materials needed to do the whole project in the video, and in my case I removed all of the old interior columns and replaced them as well. Still cheaper to do all three of our columns this way than the price of one pre-fab kit. You may be seeing something I’m not, but from my vantage point, we seriously saved, and they look great. More work, yes - but that is usually the trade off.
What a good idea! Simple and fast.
You would think haha, it took us forever to figure out how to get the miters cut to the right size 😂😂😂
I love this idea. It looks great.
Thanks so much!
Worst tablesaw technique ive ever seen. Please dont do this.
Outstanding
Boards are $41 each now 🥲
How long is it do u know?
