    Love your camping stories! We do a lot of camping, so we have a few stories! About 1970, my sister-in-law offered to watch our 3 little ones so we could have a nice weekend together. Hubby is a fisherman, so we decided to take the boat (nothing fancy) to a dam on the Columbia River. The boat had a canvas top and the seats made into beds. Had caught a few fish and they were safely on a long stringer, behind the boat in the very cold water. Settled into our sleeping bags, had our flashlight upright on the floor. Were talking, and this GIANT bug landed on the canvas above us. It was huge!! Hubby slapped his hand at it several times, and it would only move a tiny bit. He was going to go out to check it out and while reaching for the flashlight he saw a tiny little fly on the lens of the flashlight. Not such a large bug magnified into a huge kritter. After laughing ourselves to sleep we woke up the next morning to something splashing in the water. Did we have company? Nope, it was our fish trying to get to some deeper water. They had let water from the dam overnight and we were high and dry on the bank! We did manage to get the boat back into the water and needless to say went back to the dock, loaded up, and headed home.
    That is one of many camping stories. Always waiting for your next video! I cross stitch mostly smalls but love seeing all your projects. Take care

    Your camping story reminded me of the first fall we lived in our house, that was the fall of "the granddaddy long legs". The outside of our house seemed to attract them that fall. You couldn't go out the door without at least one spider dropping on you. I can still remember the feel of having them drop on my head when going out the door. Such a creepy feeling.

    I always feel like I’m such a slow stitcher. Thanks for sharing what you do because I pretty much stitch the way you do. I stitch in hand on small pieces but on larger pieces or soft fabric I use the Nurge hoops. I’ve tried so many and the Nurge is the best by far. I am a stabber when I stitch and I probably stitch a little over two hours a day. I am retired so I could fit in more stitching. Anyway, I pretty much do what you do so I feel better about my stitching. I love your Lila’s Studio Summer Quaker. It is gorgeous and the fabric is beautiful. Your daddy long legs story creeped me out. Yuck!!! Have a wonderful rest of your summer. I hope you get to go out in your camper a few more times.

    When our family went on vacations back in the mid 60's, my older sister and I were the map readers for Dad. We were in charge of the AAA triptik and could choose the campground for the evening. One of our "must haves" was flush toilets. Dad never wanted to be more than 5 miles off our route for the night. One evening, we found a campsite fulfilling both pre requisites. When we got there, we were the only campers - and when we went to check out the toilet situation, we discovered an abandoned cement block bldg with the toilets, which we wouldn't use because of all the spider webs and crawly creatures inside. That may have been the last time we girls got to choose the camp spot.
    Love to see your stitching projects, especially the Quaker sampler.

    Hi Chris, I love your Summer Quaker, as well as hive rules! I have been camping with a group of trail riders for many years and we rotate from state to state for our fall trailrides. Last year we were in Salem Missouri riding the trails and we stopped for a potty break. There are women and men and the guys always tease us and say to go way off the trail to go because they will be looking if we don't... (so juvenile lol) but anyway we probably walked 60 feet or so away to squat down and do our business. I sensed something rustling underneath my body under the leaves and it was a Copperhead snake!! YIKES!!! I never pulled my pants up so fast in my life!!! I think he was ticked that I interrupted his peace and serenity...Lesson learned, stay on the trail and go and save yourself! 🤣🙄😉

    It's been 40 years since my last confession! Yes I always say that when flosstubers are saying it's been two weeks since my last... You have gotten more done stitching while you were working then I have since retiring 6 years ago and I stitch everyday. I mostly stitch in hand too. Camping for me involves a comfortable bed and running water. Question? Do you tow a separate vehicle when RVing?

    • @TheCampingStitcher
      @TheCampingStitcher  11 месяцев назад

      LOL, well, that's why we have the RV - comfy bed, all my stuff and my own bathroom. We do not tow but we can. So far, it's easy enough to pull in the slides, pop up the feet and go.

    Enjoyed watching, my first time watching you. It's funny hearing about the daddy long legs. We went camping years ago in Texas and in the outhouse we had used at night never saw anything in the night but in the morning went in and it was full of daddy longs legs all over the walls so the walls actually looked like they were moving. Needless to say that was the last trip I went to the outhouse. Also happy belated birthday. I was very interested in the project tags that you got for your birthday from Nancy ( that all the information of the project on the back), do you know where they came from? Enjoy your break and we'll see you in September.
