Big thanks to Vicky for taking the time to do this! If you want her book, buy it from www.vickyhamilton.com and she will sign it for you. Same price as through amazon, except signed by the author. Tell her you saw her here!
I just ordered her book thru her site cant wait to receive it I'm from Detroit and loved the 80's went to alot on concerts saw Motley Crue a couple time last time was in Germany anyways loved this vlog it was awesome like all your others
I grew up in the 80's decade. I'm telling you people, the 80's was the best. It was wild, good, and much more interesting than what is going on today. I feel badly for those growing up today. 1990-1995 was pretty good too, but 1980-1989 was good times man.
It was W-I-D-E open back then. So much freedom which is exemplified by it also being THE most artistically creative times of this once great country's history which is exemplified by how by how good music, TV & movies were...then unlike now which is just repackaged derivations of the 70's & 80's.
Vicky was well known back in 80s. She did a lot for bands that went on to rule the world, out of love for the music. Ordered the book and enjoyed this video. Gracious!
Angus Orvid! I remember all the ‘pay to play ‘ venues, and it was expensive even then! ‘Come see our band’ fliers being handed out every few feet, while getting to the Whiskey to help set up my friends band with load-in! Such fun! Loved your comment!
Just standing around the Rainbow, Roxy & Whisky was wild! Just tons of people everywhere. Looking to hookup was probably #1 thing. If you were in a band - hot chicks would take care of the whole band because they rarely had money in early years. I dated the DJ at the Rainbow & got to hide under the dj booth & hand him records to play in the upstairs area. Etc. I could write a book!
A few days away from my 14th birthday I saw GnR (touring Appetite for Destruction) open for Motley (touring Girls, Girls, Girls) around the middle of November 1987 about 20 miles away from home at the Civic Coliseum in Knoxville TN. GnR were a mess man. You could tell they could play, but too much partying had them sounding like speed metal one minute and a dragging cassette the next. I saw Slash walk off his side of the stage and puke, but never stopped playing...the sign of a true professional! Another member, that I won't name, I saw him walk off stage, snort a line of coke, and RUN back on stage afterwards. I was not impressed over all, but once I heard what they could do in the studio, I was hooked. That album is one of the very few I can listen to start to finish and never want to skip a song. The Crue were great, as they always were when I saw them anyways. I saw them (touring Shout at the Devil) open for Ozzy (touring Bark at the Moon) in Nashville TN sometime in May of 1984 (my best friends mom drove us 3.5 hours each way for that show). Then again during the last part of September in 1985 (touring Theater of Pain), with Y&T (touring Open Fire and a few songs from Down for the Count if memory serves), again going to Nashville TN to see them. Then the show I mentioned with GnR. The last time I saw them was in Knoxville TN again around the first part of April in 1990. The Crue (touring Dr. Feelgood) had Faster Pussycat opening for them (touring Wake me when it's over). I went out and bought that Faster Pussycat album, and their self-titled one the next day. That self-titled album is pure gold to me. It's what I consider "sleaze rock" at its very best!. I would love to go see the new tour with Def Lep., Poison, and Joan Jett, but wow at the price tag for decent seats man! Hats off to them if they can get that for it, but I can't swing that for it. I don't know that I would if I could. All those shows, the memories of them and those times, and the guys in those bands all mean the world to me. They were the sound track to my teen age years pretty much, and for that I am eternally grateful. Those guitar players made me want to pick one up and learn, so I did, not well, but I did. Mick Marrs is, in my opinion, the most underrated and overlooked guitar player of the 1980's. He always played what the song needed, nothing more and nothing less. The crazy part was, when playing live, he always nailed his stuff perfectly. I know it's a bit off topic, but speaking of great guitar players, I saw Cinderella (touring Night Songs) open for Bon Jovi (touring Slippery When Wet) in May-ish 1987. Cinderella was so so so impressive to watch live. I already owned Night Songs (I eventually played that tape so much that I played it till it actually broke). Jeff Labar (R.I.P.) and Tom Kiefer, actually the entire band, was amazing to see and hear. If I did not know they were playing live (you could tell) I would have sworn that they were just lip synching and miming the movements on the instruments. It was that damn close to the album. They sounded just like the album, so impressive. The only other band I've seen that did that was ZZ Top. You could tell those guys knew their material inside and out and could probably play it behind their backs while asleep in a tornado. I liked a few of Bon Jovi's songs, but wasn't a big fan, but my parents made go to the show as the sort of chaperone for my older sister's and future brother in laws date. I didn't even know that Cinderella was opening for them until we got there lol. When it came to Bon Jovi though, I'll give them this, those guys knew how to work the crowd man, seriously they were good at putting on a show. Like the Crue, but in a different/more girl based way. Which made the scenery better for me lol. Musically, they were super, super tight man. Those guys had that shit down pat. There was no running off stage to puke action here. That being said, Jon's vocals were horrible. It honestly sounded like he had inhaled a scuba tank full of helium before coming on stage. You could tell that a lot of time was spent working/fixing things in the studio for sure. He was, what sounded to me like, an octave higher than he should have been. Even with the great showmanship, and the performance being so tight instrumentally, Cinderella blew them off the stage man. Bon Jovi would have been better off staying in the dressing room. So, if you've got this far, and haven't done it already, I can't recommend any higher that you check out Cinderella - Night Songs or Faster Pussycat - Faster Pussycat. If you love that type of music, and can stand some seriously raunchy lyrics and subject matter, you have to check out the band Steel Panther. All their music is great and will totally transport you back in time, even though it's all pretty much newly created stuff. While all of the albums are worth buying, the one to start with has got to be "Feel the Steel". After that, go to the more stripped/unplugged sounds of "Live from Lexxi's Mom's Garage". You will be hooked or hate them by the end of "Death to all butt metal". Yes, I know it's "but"...but...my typing "butt" will make sense after you watch the video for the song. Great tunes man, check them all out if you haven't!
The scene on the sunset strip between the whisky+gazzaris was amazing.Wall to wall people hanging out on the sidewalks and overflowing onto the street.Big hair, long hair everywhere and a real party atmosphere.Lots of fun and great people watching. Then walking into The Rainbow for some Long Island ice teas!Great memories.
I just ordered her book. That is so cool. I had recently went to the Motley crew apartments to to visit, I grew up during those times on the sunset strips during 1988 through 1991. I was a huge hair metal fan great times! This interview was wonderful
Vicky is very interesting! I could listen to her all day! What great experiences and you could tell that she is a really nice lady! I will be buying her book! Thanks Jordan!
I have been waiting and waiting for you do this vlog ever since I first saw your vlogs a year ago!!! This was AWESOME!!!!! I heard of Vicky Hamilton's name in articles and documentaries, and it was great to put the face to the name!!! These were all my favorite bands as a teenager, and I had heard about all of these spots, but never in this great of detail!! You hit it out of the park on this one, Jordan!!! This is hands down my favorite vlog that you have done!! GREAT JOB!!!!!
Seriously.. we need a "LOVE" button!! This was so frigging cool! I'm 56... so those were MY bands. lol Geez, I had a bichon dog named Axle and I was member of the Crue fan club for YEARS. I had tears rolling down my face at the last Crue concert I went to see on their final tour. AWESOME stuff Jordan!!! (I'm sure I'm going to love the book as "The Dirt" was a fantastic read years ago!)
09:05 we lived there when we were 19/20 years old 1996-1998. We had moved out to Hollywood because of our heroes G'n'R - at the time we had NO IDEA we lived in the same fuckin' house!!! We would have loved that!!
I just realized when Vicky said that Slash played with Willie Basse, that I used to see him play at the warehouses up the street! I didn't realize that Slash was in Black Sheep! Willie used to rent a warehouse where he did regular gigs, and tried out a lot of shit (music) on us youngsters! And I'm surprised Vicky didn't mention Gazarri's, when you guys were talking about the Rainbow, and Whiskey. And the Cat House was on Highland, loved that place! Lot's of bands at that time played there on a nice big stage! And when you see t-shirts, & merch for the "Cat House" that's the club it was from. The one next door to the Whiskey was the Cat Club, lots of fun too, but super tiny, and really just brought in a bunch of random band members who would jam from the old days. I met & hung out with Lemy @ the Cat House, and seen a lot of the 80's & early 90's bands there. GnR decided they were going to do a show one night, and dropped tickets that same day, so that "only" the locals could go to the show, I think it was at the Paladium, man that was an Awesome Show! So glad "your good friend Rob" told me this was getting uploaded last night lol (he's my ex boyfriend/friend/neighbor) So looks like I'll be meeting you soon Jordan, hope you bring by Jah too, gotta meet his little butt too! Lol
Omg so awesome!! I got a personal autographed book from her when she stayed at my aunt and uncles house in Cleveland when she donated memorabilia to the rock and roll hall of fame!
It's nice to hear the stories. I was not into them in the 80s. I was listening to Madonna and Cindy Lauper. Lol I'm in love with Vicky s hair. Just BEAUTIFUL!!! Peace to you
I grew up right in this area and time ( graduated John F Kennedy High, Granada Hills, CA 1981). Vicky we both know what 60 feels like now and may I say you look amazing! Most women my age sadly look like my Grandma. You’re beautiful sweetheart. God Bless!!
I’ve been binge watching you for the past two weeks and am completely hooked on your channel! Your personality, content, and Jah of course make for the perfect concoction.
I am an 80's guy who lived on the Sunset strip on Edgemont. We used to catch the bus and enjoyed so many cool shows. Skid Row to Guns and Roses!!! The Rainbow and Ten-masa was our favorites!!!!
Awesome! Vicky is such a multi-talented lady. Loved the Slash/Poison story. I’m glad you saw the Geffen Records building before demolition. I will order “Appetite for Dysfunction.”
"I'm not going to be home for a year!" Lol! What a scene Sunset Strip must have been - The vibe. Vicky is an interesting woman - great stories. "lot of things you don't know about me" - nice! Headbangers rule! I want that classic truck - now! My ultimate dream car. Thanks Jordan.
Great interview, Hearing these stories from someone that was actually there! Seeing the current state of Geffen pretty well illustrates the current state of the music industry!
What an interesting interview! I may have to get that book. Another fantastic vlog! She worked with all of the bands that I haved loved over the years, so this way really fun for me.
love all her interviews. I miss those days. I used to practice in that same space. Long live the Sunset Strip. too funny i used to work with the drummer of graveyard train at the telemarketing place on pch.
Love you Vicky Hamilton... YOU are a MAJOR reason A LOT of us got to see those amazing bands! May you always have success & never stop rockin'.........
Awesome just pure awareness she’s just a legend…no social media no cell phones just raw and the balls to meeting people on n walking up to them I miss seeing the 80s and 90s I’m so happy I was a teen in the 90s and a pre teen in the 80s
Great vlog! How great to have her be able to tell us all those stories. She kicks a**!!! How do we not know more about her. I will be getting the book for my husband!!! Once again Jordan great job!!!
Hands down my favorite vlog so far! Love hearing stories from that time and about those bands. All my favorites! Love the poison and cc story!!!!!! Awesome job!
Vicky is awesome!!!. This vlog is so great since the Crue is my all time favorite band!!! What a treat😆. Thank you so much Jordan. Much love to you and Jah ❤
Interesting Vlog Jordan. The 80's Metal scene was one of the best of times for me personally, and is the soundtrack to my coming of age. Keep 'em coming. We love what you do. Thanks for taking us along. Peace.
Great vlog..one of the BEST!!!! Great job Jordan this is like the real story of "Rock of ages " on the sunset blvd during the swingin crazy rocking late 80s.
I bought a couple of crazy Christmas hats at the store now on the site of Liquorice Pizza, we were staying at the Montrose on Hammond. My 56th birthday - dirty martinis at the Skybar, Mondrian. Mark UK.
Crazy during your interview with Vicky Hamilton she mentioned she is representing a friend of Mine Brandon Paul. I also have booked bands and managed and have history of Wiskey, starwood, roxy, rainbow room and Gizarris. Brandon was actually in a band that played the Whiskey Tons, named Stonebreed which I ran their band page years ago. Small world!!!!! Brandon Rocks! My son also played the viper room with his band Speaking in Metaphors years ago as well.. Good times ! Great video!
This was amazing! I am definitely buying her book. I love to read about stuff like this. We cant find anything on any other channel on youtube like this! That's why I sub and Patreon! Thank you for this!
Hey Jordan! I will be ordering two copies of Vicky's book. One for me and one for my sister-in-law. She went with friends to California and went to the whiskey and rainbow clubs and saw GNR and the Crue perform. Her birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. She is going to freak when she gets it!
Hi Jordan.that was a fantastic interiew...great job man! She is such an interesting woman it was awesome to hear her talk about those bands in them early days. I love it! Can you imagine the stories she could thel...the down and dirty onre touring and living with these guys? What an interview!
I was one of the lucky ones who got too experience Sunset in the 80's. One of the best show I seen was Lizzy Borden at the Roxy 85-86. I later played Gazzarri's a few times in later years 90-91with my own band. Sometimes I'll drive down to Hollywood and walk around and reminisce
Such a great video! LA had the 80s rock , Seattle had the 90s grunge, NYC had the 70s punk GBGB era . I wonder if there will ever be another rock Renaissance in my lifetime? A new city a new sound ? It's long overdue.
First I Would Like To Say Thanks To Vicky Hamilton For Taking Time To Do This Vlog.. She Is A Big Part Of The Music Business. Please Buy Her Book It Is A Great Read And As You Can Tell from The Vlog A Lovely Person As Well.. Second I Would Like To Thank Jordan For Doing This Vlog.. I'm Just A Man From A Small Indiana Town Not To Far From Where Axl And Izzy Was Born And Raised… Thanks For Doing A Great Vlog.. Jordan You Are One Of The Best Vloggers Of All Time And One Day Your Numbers Will Show It.. Keep Up The Great Work...
Love your intro to your vlogs.that was very nice of vicky Hamilton to take you around to all those places and share her story with you and us. Thanks, Jordan 🦁🎸
That was a awesome Vlog Jordan!! I love hearing stories about the Sunset strip and all the bands where they lived and hangout. I'll definitely get Vicky Hamilton's book. Have a great trip and I'll see you on your next Vlog.
I live in Carlisle Pennsylvania it is only 6 miles away from where Bret Michaels and Ricky ream AKA Ricky rocket went to high school in Mechanicsburg Pennsylvania and on a daily basis I pass the Vo-Tech building that they went to when they took Cosmetology in which is also in Mechanicsburg.
Big thanks to Vicky for taking the time to do this! If you want her book, buy it from www.vickyhamilton.com and she will sign it for you. Same price as through amazon, except signed by the author. Tell her you saw her here!

This was one of my favorite vlogs. I grew up listening to GNR and Motley Crue and still love them!! I’m ordering her book as well
I grew up in the 80's decade.
We’re u in Cali in the 80s
long live the 80s
I did too…the 80’s rock!!!
\,,/ 80's \,,/ the best!!!!!!
Vicky was well known back in 80s. She did a lot for bands that went on to rule the world, out of love for the music. Ordered the book and enjoyed this video. Gracious!
That was awesome listening to the history of bands I grew up with.
Any idea of the opening song to the video ?
The Strip in the 80s was wild!
Funnest place on earth! I was there too playing really fast guitar solos. Had a great time.
Looking to hookup was probably #1 thing. pamela manning , adriana smith etc etc omfg
I'm a huge fan of the 80s rock music. So to me this is one of the best vlog you done. Keep it up Jordan. Your videos rocks.
A few days away from my 14th birthday I saw GnR (touring Appetite for Destruction) open for Motley (touring Girls, Girls, Girls) around the middle of November 1987 about 20 miles away from home at the Civic Coliseum in Knoxville TN. Man what a great interview, great stories, i love all the bands from the 80´s my favorite has always been Motley, thanks a lot. I loved it.
Interesting Vlog Jordan. The 80's Metal scene was one of the best of times for me personally, and is the soundtrack to my coming of age. Keep 'em coming. We love what you do. Thanks for taking us along. Peace.
Thanks Jordan. I learn something new every time I watch your videos. You are awesome.
Mark UK.
Jordan, you have the best channel and vlog on RUclips, best part of my day, thanks for the videos, super entertaining!!!
After watching BadBrad, the RUclipsr, this got streamed to me perfect timing. Great interview.
What an amazing opportunity to learn first hand about some of my favorite bands. Thank you!
This lady has lived life! Great journey down her road... 😊
This was amazing! I am definitely buying her book. I love to read about stuff like this. We cant find anything on any other channel on youtube like this! That's why I sub and Patreon! Thank you for this!
WOW…what a life Vicky had!!
Hey Jordan! I will be ordering two copies of Vicky's book. One for me and one for my sister-in-law. She went with friends to California and went to the whiskey and rainbow clubs and saw GNR and the Crue perform. Her birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. She is going to freak when she gets it!
Great
Love u Vicky!!! Just love that you took time to share these incredible stories:) :)
Very Cool Rock history!!!! Love it!!!!! Vicky is an icon in Rock History!!! Awesome!!!
Hi Jordan.that was a fantastic interiew...great job man! She is such an interesting woman it was awesome to hear her talk about those bands in them early days. I love it! Can you imagine the stories she could thel...the down and dirty onre touring and living with these guys? What an interview!
We need more from Vicky 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Sunset living legend 🤟🏽
I was one of the lucky ones who got too experience Sunset in the 80's. One of the best show I seen was Lizzy Borden at the Roxy 85-86. I later played Gazzarri's a few times in later years 90-91with my own band. Sometimes I'll drive down to Hollywood and walk around and reminisce
Such a great video! LA had the 80s rock , Seattle had the 90s grunge, NYC had the 70s punk GBGB era . I wonder if there will ever be another rock Renaissance in my lifetime? A new city a new sound ? It's long overdue.
Thanks for sharing this part of music history. Thanks to Ms. Hamilton . She continues to help dreamers find their way to success.

Love your intro to your vlogs.that was very nice of vicky Hamilton to take you around to all those places and share her story with you and us. Thanks, Jordan 🦁🎸
Graveyard Train! Wow!! Saw them open at a flood benefit in Moline, Illinois back in 1993! They opened for The Damn Yankees and REO Speedwagon!
I lived there back then! Wow - memories. Apt complexes let tons of bands move in & cause havoc. They hung out at places I did.
Thanks for doing this Jordan! Listening to the history of the bands and where they started sounds very cool!
That was a awesome Vlog Jordan!! I love hearing stories about the Sunset strip and all the bands where they lived and hangout. I'll definitely get Vicky Hamilton's book. Have a great trip and I'll see you on your next Vlog.

Awesome vlog Jordan!! Def brings me back to my childhood in the 80's...good times
Fantastic! love hearing these rock n roll stories ☺
80s/90s rock is iconic. Today's music is so tame and uninspiring.
