Really, really informative and helpful. I’m 77 years old, and want to look fashionable, but I don’t want to look like I’m trying to look younger. You are helping me to do that. Thank you so much.
I don’t like trends that are as impractical as puddling jeans/trousers, they’ll quickly get ruined for one thing. Plus, they really make one look shorter overall and shorter-legged.
Wide leg jeans can make you look tall if they are high waisted and worn with a cropped top. It fools the eye by creating a long line from the high waist, all the way down to the floor. Wear with a pointed toe shoe in the same color tone as the jeans. The jean can slightly kiss the floor without looking sloppy.
I love moderately low rise jeans. I'm very short waisted, so they are more of a mid rise on me. I'm so glad they're coming back! High rise jeans rest way up my rib cage. I'm glad there are so many styles though, so hopefully everybody can find a style that works! Thanks reminding us that feeling good is a big part of looking good!
Sometimes I feel like Diogenes, looking for the perfect pair of jeans! I search for dark wash jeans with NO whiskering or sanded areas. Personally, the last thing I want to do is draw attention to my hips and thighs by highlighting them with lighter tones. IMHO, solid dark navy or black jeans can be dressed up or down and are so much more versatile. And, being 5'3", I look for styles that elongate, so rips, fraying or crops don't work for me...
I'm 70+ yrs. old , also 5'3" ( size 2 or 4 depending ... ) & like a " mature " classic jean . I found Nine West jeans at Kohl's come in several styles - straight , barely boot cut , bootcut , wider leg , & several washes / colors from black , grays , dark navy to light wash . Usually on sale ! ! I've been pleased w/ how they fit , wear & wash ( cold water Woolite , delicate , brief dryer on air , then hang dry ). My favorite is the slim straight for a classic look w/ a cute summer top & sneakers or blazer & driving mocs for cooler days . ( For decades I was a Levi & Lee jeans devotee but now love NW - style , quality , price . ) 💟
@@p.j.b.9999 Good luck ! Hope I didn't come off as a " know-it-all " but perhaps can help someone else who , like me , has been on a lifetime quest for " THE PERFECT JEANS " ! 🥰 ( I bo't my last Jeep in less time than it took me to try on , evaluate & buy jeans at one store !! Life is strange ... 🤣🤣 )
I’m fortunately the same size I was 20 years ago and I love jeans so you can imagine my collection. The other day I pulled out a pair from about 12 years ago and the fabric was heavy and I thought I can wear these in the cooler weather. The only issue I have is the length …I’m shorter than I used to be and I no longer wear high heels. So I was thinking just cut them….but my husband said 🤔he sews and offered to hem them, but I’m cutting them! So thanks for reinforcing my plan. 👍
Hi Kay, Another great video. Lots of great information and tips about what to look for for this fall. Also, I LOVE Native products - I've used them for some time now and you can't beat them as far as the value goes - wonderful fragrances without the toxic ingredients and at a great price. Keep up the great work! I just turned 74 yesterday and I never try to look young - just modern!
We all have different tastes and preferences, but with such a myriad of choices we can all find something we like. May I offer a suggestion? If you cut off your jeans to get that ragged edge, I strongly recommend that you run a stitch along the bottom hem. This will help to prevent extra fraying - which can look messy instead of chic.
If you go to a thrift shop in your area, they usually have so many silhouettes, length and sizes to choose from. Some shops have fitting rooms available, some do not. My location, a Savers in CT, allows you to exchange clothing items (and shoes), within 2 weeks. Also, you'll be able to identify which brands fit best. For example, a size 6 in Loft jeans, is equivalent to a size 10 in Levi's!
This is such helpful info - thank you Kay! I'll be replacing a couple of pairs of jeans this fall and I've been unsure exactly what I wanted and what's in style. Looking forward to your next video on how to get the right fit! That's always such a challenge.
I love ankle length jeans and pants. On my body that are very flattering. I love showing a bit of my ankle in the warmer months and my boots in the colder months. I love straight leg and the slightly wider legs. Not so much the super wide. Maybe in my younger days 😂 Jean skirts. I’m thinking about it. In the very early 70s I took my 1st pair of extremely well worn Levis and split the crotch and added cross stitched mixture of patterned and Jean patches to create the most fabulous maxi skirt. I received several offers to sell it 😂
I bought an EverEve denim dress that sells out quickly.. classic Bonnie button down dress.. very modern yet classic keeper. Trend up a notch w cool boots (slouch, etc). Also OLD NAVY has good midi denim skirt. I’m dressing w dresses and skirts more this fall. Just if anyone wants to know
Thank you Kay for this video. I myself like high rise jeans. I'm not a big fan of the low cut jeans. I remember wearing the long jean skirts as a young girl. It's nice that they're back again. I had a long jean skirt that I held onto for a very long time, and got rid of it. I wish I had kept it. Again, thank you so much for this video it was very informative.
Here’s a little hint for the diy cut off jeans . After cutting then zig zag over the edge using the closest matching thread you can find. Once you wash and dry them it will disappear but you won’t get those stringy frays. Also old navy has a mini bootcut jean that are less huge at the bottom but still has the effect.
Great video. I loved that my big stash of jeans has so many styles you showed.. I fell in love with the puffy sleeved red print top. I checked but couldn't see it posted. Will it be linked later? I also discovered that you can take a jeans waist and put it around your neck and it just comes together, it's close to your size. I doubted it would work until my granddaughter did it on some decorated jeans at an outdoor market in Florence. No way could those be returned! Thank goodness they were a great fit. Have you heard of neck measurement as a guide to fitting pants?
Hi! It's this one: rstyle.me/+BlKqb5Iz6RBmFsyYHIHD0Q and they have other similar styles. And it's 30% off today. Yes, I have heard of that little trick, and I've heard it works every time. Pretty interesting!
This video was fantastic! I love wearing denim and you now I have so much more information on how to style them this year. I do not have a skirt and am definitely on the hunt for one now. Thank you.
Like Deming a lot. Never goes out of style. But the style like you said does come and go. What brand of Jean is ture to it's size. Sometimes l'll try on a Jean that isn't. Can make it hard to find a pair. And how can you make your jeans last a long time too?
4:00 Eastern time, HI Kay! I really the denim skirts that are coming out. Also I agree with you about the high rise jeans. They work well for me! Thank you for the info on denim. Looking forward to Saturday!

I have the same Madewell jeans in a petite size. They fit so well! I love Madewell and appreciate that they offer jeans in both tall and petite sizes on their website. ❤️
I love those cropped jeans from Madewell. I’ve had my eye on them. They were my favorite from this video. Thank you for your fashion council. Some of us need extra help. ✝️📖❤️
Like the information on jeans. I need a dresser jeans. Looking forward to Saturday! 😊 I also bought the Native deodorant and love it. It has such a fresh smell ❤
I always hated skinny jeans, they have so much polyester and Spandex that they’re more like sport leggings. I love 100% cotton 501s, always have. Thanks for this update❤
As always, thank you for the video Kay. I love denim and I’m especially drawn to the way you styled the wide leg cropped denim. Will you list the sweater with stars and shoes … OMGoodness the shoes! It would not have occurred to me to style denim like this. You wear it well. ❤️

I bought a pair of high waisted wide leg jeans. And I love them. They are way too long on me. I have some lug sole boots I’m hoping will work with them. But I may have to hem them. I also bought some supposedly straight leg jeans. They look and feel more like skinny jeans. But I can wear them with knee high boots. I’m already figuring out how to style all my jeans. I do wear them in the fall and winter. I don’t wear jeans in the summer because I would get too hot. It’s denim Bermuda shorts for me.
I like that the longer Jean skirts are in again. I saw one on Soft Surroundings or it might have been JJill. I’m wondering about boots. Are they trending? And will they be tucking jeans in or out?
Yes, boots are very on trend. The over-the-knee boot is the most noteworthy, but I probably won't be wearing those myself. But knee high boots with skirts and dresses is definitely on trend. I don't know about wearing them over boots, I think we'll see more with skirts.
Where's the flood, lol...I tried explaining to my husband that these jeans are ankle length and not what he calls "highwaters"! 😄 And thank you, Kay, for your great content. God bless you!
The cropped pants are not a message for me. I just think they are not very flattering on most women. If you are tall, then you might be able to pull them off, but for us height challenged women, they cut off our legs and make us look shorter and, unfortunately, heavier.
Good morning, Kay. I live in Scottsdale, AZ, so I am intrigued with the new southwestern scents offered from Native. I really like the deodorant. It works very well in our scorching heat that we are currently experiencing. Great video. I hope you will cover styles for petite women. What is your take on jeans that have a mixture of fabric content? I try to stay away from jeans that have too much polyester. I prefer the 98% cotton with 2% spandex. Looking forward to Saturday's video.
No, not liking the cropped length jeans or pants has nothing to do what others say or past comments about high waters, etc., it makes most people look shorter and dumpier.
I'm glad to see not all jeans are ankle length or higher now. Some of us have to wear socks -- not footies, compression socks -- and so you're either stuck wearing boots or you look like a dork. The ankle pant trend cannot go away fast enough.
@@gardenhappy4 😂 Luckily in the 80's I escaped all that - showed horses professionally so my " uniform " was classic dark straight leg jeans , roper boots & oxford shirt . However , there were always a few color & style trends to keep up w/ for the show ring to keep things interesting . 💟
Hi Kay! I bought Native deodorant the last time they sponsored you and now I am hooked! I love the scents. Also, thanks for the jeans update. I love the long jean skirt look and I plan to buy one this Fall. I am about to become a Grandma for the first time like you! Our daughter is due any day now!
Nice variety for all ages & body types ! However , the " Canadian tuxedo " always looks like a person is ready to do farm chores ! Also , longer denim skirts , always when worn w/ sneakers or flats , is what we see in our area being worn by girls & women of a particular conservative Christian group . Just an observation ... 🥰
I've often said that I'd like to be Canadian because the national anthem is beautiful & can be sung by real people as opposed to our US nat. anthem which is difficult ! 🎶🎶💟 😂
Agree ! As a true farm person it's ok for doing chores but not " clean up go to town " wear ! A jeans style in a different , soft fabric & " fashion color " , such as light pink , can look very nice - but then that's not really a true jeans jacket , is it ? !😀
Unfortunately I got rid of my midi straight, pencil denim skirt and kept my very full midi denim, but it looks like the full skirts are "out" and straight styles are "in." Is that correct? Also I was given a cropped denim jacket that fits me extremely well, but it has the word "LOVE" stamped all over it. Too young for a 65 year old? That's what I'm thinking but it looks so good on me. As always, another great video. Thank you!
If you love the jacket (no pun intended!), wear it! You're not too old for it. And yes, more A-line skirts are really in for denim. But we are also seeing fuller skirts in other fabrics.
Just to add, I can't count how many videos I've seen telling older women to stop wearing capri/cropped pants because they look dowdy and cut the leg unflatteringly. Now we're supposed to wear them on purpose? Picture them on an apple-shaped overweight lady well past menopause. We aren't talking a haute couture look, here, to say the least.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the high waisted jeans! They hold the tummy in, make you look taller, and look great with a short jacket or sweater. Perfect!

I love the goal of not trying to look younger but modern and up to date. Perfect!
Wide leg pants look “comical” on my short full figure self. 😊
I don’t like trends that are as impractical as puddling jeans/trousers, they’ll quickly get ruined for one thing. Plus, they really make one look shorter overall and shorter-legged.
Agreed. It just looks stupid & sloppy to me but I'm sure the younger women will be wearing them.
To me as a former seamstress/ alterations it drives me nuts.

The only thing about cropped pants is that they create a horizontal line that shortens the leg. Fine for long legs, not for short.

Same, with the longer denim worn by conservative Christian denominations in my area. Also iffy on the Canadian tuxedo in spite of being Canadian. 😂🇨🇦
I've often said that I'd like to be Canadian because the national anthem is beautiful & can be sung by real people as opposed to our US nat. anthem which is difficult ! 🎶🎶💟 😂
Great job! Thx
😊
My fav is your beige collared sweater with matching boots and light wash jeans. Where have I seen that sweater before?
It was here but no longer in that color: rstyle.me/+S2ft1CQl5iwZJS2hnfML5Q
I couldn't find the link for Native in your info.
She has it pinned at the top of the comments.
I apologize for it not being in the description box earlier. It is there now and here is the link for you! bit.ly/nativekayharms4
I must be the only person on the planet who doesn't like the look of a jeans jacket! Just can't...
Agree ! As a true farm person it's ok for doing chores but not " clean up go to town " wear ! A jeans style in a different , soft fabric & " fashion color " , such as light pink , can look very nice - but then that's not really a true jeans jacket , is it ? !😀
Are you seeing denim vests, yet? I've always loved them, but they've been out of style for years.
I have not seen them really. But that doesn't mean they're not out there!
Thank you!
If you love it and it fits well, go for it! You're never too old for Love ❤
@@laurieg6416 thanks! I wouldn't hesitate if it wasn't for the print.
If you love the jacket (no pun intended!), wear it! You're not too old for it. And yes, more A-line skirts are really in for denim. But we are also seeing fuller skirts in other fabrics.
@@DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms you're so sweet to reply. Thank you. 💗
Cropped jeans are horrific. I have zero interest in wearing high-waters, and they look stupid on most people. I'll leave them to the teenagers.
