There are some mistakes in regards to this video. For example, one that I've noticed is the temporary recapture of Oyskhara by the rebels in November 1999 during the Second Chechen War is not shown. But these things happen. Other than that, the dedication you have put into this is outstanding. Considering it is hard to find much information about the pro-Russian uprisings in Chechnya prior to the first war or the Islamist Insurgency during the Interwar Period, I applaud your efforts.
Nice work! I've got some Ossetian heritage (on my father's side) and yes, his relatives who were living in the Caucasus in the 1990s describe this situation in detail. The place they live was just 80 km away from the battlefields. All these colours on the map are truly more than just colours as one of the commenters wrote here. But may I correct something? First, I really doubt that there were some "green" zones in Chechen lowlands in May-June 1995. I'm sure separatists still controlled the highlands (apart from Shatoy and Vedeno that were taken by Russian troops) by that time, but I really doubt that the road connecting Gudermes and Khasavyurt was under separatists' control. Secondly, there are some English mistakes. "woUnded", for example.
Did you know that Ossetians descend from the ancient Alan tribes that overran the Roman Empire in the 5th century and conquered Spain, France, the Balkans? Super interesting

@Timur Sayfullah Yes, having a list of a indulgences compared to others regions of Russia is an occupation filled with blood, you right. Just another representative of the most peaceful religion and culture.
@Timur Sayfullah That's the smartest argument you came up with? Try to learn history and you'll get how it works, or you don't, depends on you and your will to understand what Russia and other countries are doing on a territories "they are not native in". No one was gonna to give independence to terrorists. No one wants to have a neighbor spreading drugs and weapon, we have experience with afghanistan and we can see what albania does, these are enough, thanks. Also no one is gonna give away infrastructure built by russians to these radicals.
@Timur Sayfullah "every syrian curses assad and russia" for me, you outed yourself as someone who doesn't know what they are talking about right here. Every minority and the inhabitants on the Syrian coastline are either thankful or at least recognize the importance of Russia destroying the Sunni extremists and other imported "democratic" beheaders threatening their right to exist.
@Timur Sayfullah No Russian settlers are moving to Syria so it's certainly not a Russian colony. Russia is formally a Syrian ally and Russians actually have significant amount of Syrian popular support because average normal "infidel" Syrians don't want to be blown up or executed by US-Israel-SA-Turkey supported, peace-loving, Arab holy warriors.
@Timur Sayfullah I'm "sorry" the Russians and Iranians stopped the Sunnis from genociding the Syrian christians and other muslim minorities like Shias from Syria. Btw when I said Sunni extremist, I was talking about a certain group like the ISIS, not every Sunni muslim in the world...
Don't know about "Chechen civilians died from Russian cleansing", but the population of Chechnya at the break up of the Soviet Union was 500k Chechens and 250k Russians, after the 90s there are practically no Russians left in Chechnya. And more than a million Chechens. People were forced to leave, abandoning their property, taken hostage for a ransom or killed.
This is Russian propaganda with zero proof to the "russian ethnic cleansing" claim. Most of these russians were neighbours to chechens and had good relations. Its not like after war starts they suddenly rip each other apart. There were some gangsters and terrorists taking advantage and kidnapping some russians for money but it wasnt common. Most of the Russians fled to the neighboring republics when the war began, that explains the drop in population. You really think Chechens had tools to kill 250k Russians within a year when Russia killed 300k chechens in two wars with advanced weapons.
The non russians in chechnya fled because they knew a war was gonna Break Out, Theres No evidence of a mythical genocide of russian people in the early 90s, Not a single human rights article, Not a single Mass grave, but 350.000 chechen civillians died including 42.000 children
Also the non chechens in grozny came through the Deportation in 1994 where your disgusting NKVD and Stalin deported the entire chechen and ingush Population and settled non chechens in the chechen territory. So they came in illegally as settlers
@@SimpleAviation-v9g 30 or so Chechens collaborated with the germans so in retaliation they ethnically cleansed 500,000 Chechens. This makes sense somewhere in the sick russian mind.
I love the quote you used at the beginning of the video, it describes the Chechen as well as not only the Chechen situation at the time in Russia. Great video! Perhaps the only thing you could have mentioned when the terror attack wave began is that it happened after Russia assassinated Dudayev in 1996 and the state of Chechnya then got out of control.
This quote do not describe anything cause it's b.s.. Yeah, after collapse of Soviet Union criminality raised, but that happened all over the post-soviet countries. Ethnic cleansing was not carried out on the initiative or instructions of Dudayev - it was the "improvisation" of individuals. This happened because in the conditions of general chaos, the bandits psychopaths raised their heads - Whom should they rob and kill? It's impossible with the Chechens, because in this case you or a member of your family will sooner or later be killed as a blood feud. Thus, the only vulnerable group of the population were non-Chechens. 2) Nobody carried out ethnic cleansing of the Ingush (because they are no different from the Chechens, this is the same nation), and the Tatars (they are Muslims, and Islam prohibits nationalism).
That was a very strange conflict. First thing I noticed were interpolations aka assumptions which I felt a little skeptical about the accuracy of the frontlines. About the map and animation, it was very good. It had good detail including the fact that you put an airplane icon to indicate an airport. The plane animations looked cool too. Then I saw the almost-neverending Chechen Islamist Wahhabi attacks and I was like "when is this gonna end bruh" and a little more surprised when an Islamist group in such an area of tiny population in a country as large as Russia would perform a lot of terrorist attacks far away from Chechnya for almost 20 years....They're crazy Tldr; very good video, learned a lot but the frontlines seem to have many assumptions so I assume a lack of information or simply a mapping style?
You noticed too? Kinda strange how the borders were protect but some how only Chechens terrorists could pass it and not only pass it but go far far away to do what they intended. Sorry, I forgot, Putin was part of KGB
firstly, these are not volunteers, and secondly, they are traitors to Chechnya. Chechen volunteers are fighting on the side of Ukraine. traitors are fighting on the side of Russia, who also fought against Chechnya during the Russian-Chechen war .

As a chechen I just want to live in peace
@Timur Sayfullah
No Russian settlers are moving to Syria so it's certainly not a Russian colony.
Amazing use of different map sizes
Тоже самое было и в 44 году когда чеченцев выслали ни за что

Then I saw the almost-neverending Chechen Islamist Wahhabi attacks and I was like "when is this gonna end bruh" and a little more surprised when an Islamist group in such an area of tiny population in a country as large as Russia would perform a lot of terrorist attacks far away from Chechnya for almost 20 years....They're crazy
Tldr; very good video, learned a lot but the frontlines seem to have many assumptions so I assume a lack of information or simply a mapping style?
Thanks very much for this extensive commentary! I think it is just my style of the frontlines, I really like rounded borders

However as the point stands this act gave the russian goverment under Yeltsin an excuse to invade Chechnya again despite the fact that Chechnya didn't actually do anything to provoke russia
Chechens started etnichal cleanings of Russian and non-Caucasus population after they gained independence. This is why Russia started CTO in 1994. They started civil war in Chechnya to gain power, and invaded republic of Dagestan, where Islamists rised against Russian rule. Of course, what do you expect? These same people also ignore the atrocities which have been perpetrated around Kashmer by the Indians because they are their friends and they also ignore the direct ties of the Saudi Arabian ruling family with radical Islamic terror groups because they are their friends.
That's why people should not allow themselves to be manipulated to be either for or against either "sides" because this is all a big joke that is being cracked on the backs of innocent civilians, whether in Ukraine, Russia or anywhere else around the globe, we are the ones who bear the brunt whereas the political leaders are all laughing their asses off at our expense.

This is really cool, great effort... I got interested in this because I remember hearing about the 131 maikop going in groznny to take railway station only to be surrounded and almost totally destroyed, it was terrible, and there were numerous stories I came across of torture mutilation execution etc of Russian soldiers and civilians, stories of incompetent and corrupt commanders and bad equipment, it must have been an awful experience for the Russians, I think I saw footage of soldiers without helmets and wearing Adidas instead of military boots, and there was friendly fire from artillery killing Russians in groznny
yes much this is true. I was myself conscript in 2nd Chechen war It was all just very awful experience. I did not want to be there at all. Live with all memories stil. Day of demobilization still one best in my life.
