So sad that this has kinda went under the radar! Of course 37.000 views are great, but considering the work you put in here it should have much more. Well done!
This is really a gold video. The changes in the support of foreign forces, the fall and rise of the Taliban forces, and the changes in the forces of the Islamic State in Afghanistan are very impressive to me, and they are very clear and detailed. And from this video, I saw many armed groups and forces that I had never heard of before. This is a amazing video and worth tons of views...
Holy crap, even with the various (but admittedly easy to make because this is Afghanistan we're talking about) errors, this is probably one magnum opus of a mapping video.
great video and one of the best out there, however the insurgencies are overly exaggerated, esp in pakistan and in post aug15-2021 afghanistan. the nrf territory sources are all eventually based on unverified tweets (ive been watching the situation from the start), ISKP having any territory at all is debatable to begin with, let alone claims of such vast expansion of control. and a friend from pakistan confirms that he and people whom he knows went to some of the so called insurgent controlled areas before and that theyre not insurgent controlled at all, even in kpk. also eastern and southern-central punjab is flat so having insurgencies there is almost impossible. and the so called taliban splinter groups post 2021? they dont even exist. there isnt a tajik taliban organization, other than a dubious claim of a TALIBAN SPONSORED group on the borders of tajikistan. uzbek taliban? the reality is that a taliban commander of uzbek ethnicity was detained for 1 month upon criminal charges (just like any state does, doesnt mean any state that detains commanders are having civil wars!) then was released when he was found not guilty upon investigation, at best there was protests at one district and thats it, and the protests only lasted for like a week at most.
You don’t understand how funding of the muhjahadeen worked the USA would give money to pakistan who would in return give it to groups that they thought deserved it al qadea was one of those groups
The video was great, but it has many mistakes, the rebel groups in Pakistan do not control all this territory, the insurgency against the Taliban and ISIS does not have such large areas in Afghanistan as shown in the video, Russia, Central Asia countries, Saudi Arabia and Qatar are neutral during the Afghan War (2001-2021).
Tajikistan was very much not neutral it was very much pro government anti taliban, So was Uzbekistan the reason being they have significant uzbek and tajik minorities in the country that they seek to protect and saw the old government as doing that
I can no longer tolerate RUclips's business model, not to mention how frequently it keeps me awake past my bedtime. Is there anywhere else could follow your work?
Great video, the best of this conflict. Though it would have been nice to see the Kyber pass tribes and the ISIS invasion of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan though.

11:18 around this time UAE and Saudi are meant to be same colour as Pakistan, Turkmenistan does not have a side, but it was leaned towards Alliance with Taliban.
There might be a kind of influence of the militants in Pakistani territory but there is no way that the militants control that kind of land area in 2023 - Armed forces wiped them out in 2 largest operations carried out nearly 50 years after the last India-Pakistan war in 1971 (Operation Zarb e Azb, Operation Radd ul fasad)
From 1978-1996 there were tens of sides backed by USA to fight the Afghan government, from 1996-2001 the Taliban controlled nearly all of the country and from 2001-2021 the same groups that were backed by USA from 1978-1996 controlled Afghanistan by the help of USA and its allies and they created a government called The Islamic republic of Afghanistan, from 2021 till now the Taliban are in control of Afghanistan. (Taliban are also backed by USA)
please stop historicizing at the beginning of the video, this applies to every mapmaker on the website. its cringeworthy to see which amateurish historigraphical simplifications you subscribe to. the often unsound pophistory or the wikipedia leanings shines through in a lot of the vids. we dont need it. (this is not directed at the text for this particular video, i've just been meaning to say it to whomever it concerns for some time).
Context is important. A brief historical introduction isn’t an ‘amateurish historiographical simplification’ if it’s meant to be short and simple - if you wanted an essay on the subject then pick up a book instead. The focus of the video is the map, with the historical context at the beginning to make sense of what’s going on. Also learn capitalisation please, your grammar is ‘cringeworthy’.
