The advantage of using PMCs or foreign groups is plausible deniability. They can do things that a country can’t do legally, usually terrorism and/or war crimes.
US strategy in central and south Asia has failed totally. They have fostered a relationship with Pakistan, losing India in the process, all while Pakistan funded and maintained relations with the Taliban, who are as anti-american as it gets. Pakistan is laughing, India is furious and the USA is left with no real influence in the area. Instead of allying with Pakistan, they should have allied with India. Then they would have the world's largest democracy on board both to help control Iran and the Middle East, as well as China and the Far East. The USA underestimated Muslim brotherhood and the fact that "moderate Muslims" will always side with their extremist brothers over the infidel. India knows this, Israel knows this, but Europe and America still believe that Islam is a religion of peace.
To be fair to the Americans, Indians were at best frosty towards them right after our independence, part of it was because Nehru was a socialist and equated capitalism with colonialism, part of it was how we didn't like how Americans treated black people back then which was very similar to colonialism. Pakistan on the other hand was always a willing, if treacherous partner.
Indians didn't leave US with any choice in the matter. They aligned with the USSR from the start. US influence in the region is near impossible to begin with. India is isolated with no friends.
Why would we want to ally with India? They're just as treacherous and dishonest as the Pakistanis.
True that
To be fair to the Americans, Indians were at best frosty towards them right after our independence, part of it was because Nehru was a socialist and equated capitalism with colonialism, part of it was how we didn't like how Americans treated black people back then which was very similar to colonialism. Pakistan on the other hand was always a willing, if treacherous partner.
Lol the US did not "lose" India and US-India positive relationship is growing year after year. This is a bullshit comment.
Indians didn't leave US with any choice in the matter. They aligned with the USSR from the start. US influence in the region is near impossible to begin with.
India made a far bigger mistake in turning away the US, now it is stuck with Russia which is backwards and aligning with China -of which is fermenting trouble to India 24/7 AND trying to steal land. India is isolated with no friends.
Why would we want to ally with India? They're just as treacherous and dishonest as the Pakistanis. India chose to ally with the Russians, so they chose their side and proved once and for all that they don't have any honor or morality. It's actually an Arabic word that means
2 students
1 student means Talib
2 students means taliban
3 or more students means Tulab
Edit:
Deeper explanation
It is considered an Arabic word Pashto people just use an Arabic word because they don't have a Pashto equivalent for it. (A N) as people stated in replies exists in Arabic, in the arabic language if you want to make a word for 2 people/things then you either add "IN or AN" For example Talibin or Taliban, both of these words mean 2 students in the Arabic language. Arabic has a huge influence in Afghanistan and Pakistan because these 2 nations use the Quran and both of them have been under the Umayyad dynasty which is an Arab dynasty. Also trades with Arab merchants helped out. With all these factors included, we can see how huge the Arabic language and it's influence on these 2 countries Pakistan and Afghanistan. Just like How Greek, and Roman Empires have huge influence over the languages of modern day Europe.
They also butchered al-Zawahiri's name.
The suffix -an (ان-) in Pashto is used for plural. So in Pashto Talib (طالب) means student and Taliban (طالبان) means students.
Saying Taliban is an Arabic word is wrong because this variation of it is Pashto because of the Pashto Suffix, tho the origin of the world is Arabic.
