    Most likely this is the most hardest for me video on my channel. Despite the title of the video is Eastern Front of the World War 1, I decided to include also Balkan front, Italian front and the part of Middle Eastern front (Caucasian front). This video will show the whole chronology of hostilities of the First World War in these regions on the map (every day, animation).
    Eastern front of the WW1 (or Great War) is the second in order of importance for Germany and it was much more extended. The front in the east was much longer than that in the west. The theater of war was roughly delimited by the Baltic Sea in the west and Minsk in the east, and Saint Petersburg in the north and the Black Sea in the south, a distance of more than 1,600 kilometres (990 mi). This had a drastic effect on the nature of the warfare. While the war on the Western Front developed into trench warfare (Battle of Marne, Battle of Somme Battle of Verdun in France), the battle lines on the Eastern Front were much more fluid and trenches never truly developed. This was because the greater length of the front ensured that the density of soldiers in the line was lower so the line was easier to break. Once broken, the sparse communication networks made it difficult for the defender to rush reinforcements to the rupture in the line, mounting rapid counteroffensives to seal off any breakthrough.
    Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in Sarajevo by Gavrilo Princip on 28 June 1914, a month later Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. German Empire at head of Wilhelm 2 declared war on Russian Empire on 1 August 1914, Austria-Hungary did it on 6 August 1914. Ottoman Empire also joined the Central Powers but 1914 was the year of victories for Russian army. Everything changed in 1915. By mid-1915, the Russians had been expelled from Poland, Lithuania, part of Latvia, Belarus and Ukraine during the Great Retreat. Battle of Osowiec became famous in this period. Brussilov offensive in 1916 was the sounding victory for Russia but it suffered very high casualties. It was the reason for February Revolution in 1917 after which discipline in the Russian army dropped dramatically, soldiers didn't want to fight. Bolsheviks at head of Vladimir Lenin took power in Russia during the October Revolution. They signed the humiliating Treaty of Brest with Central Powers in 1918 and Russia completely emerged from the war. Germany surrendered after the November Revolution eight months later, during that Russia was divided into several political camps because of civil war. Eventually Bolsheviks won and USSR was established in 1922. Treaty of Versailles between Germany and Entente was signed in 1919.

    Absolutely weird and insane moments in WW1 that could literally only come from this war:
    *The Ottomans bombard Russia, only for Russia to push into their territory and for them to barely even cross Russian territory (oh, I forgot, they attacked Russia.... in the winter.... in the mountains.... half of the army froze the death, hmm, great strategy)
    *Austria-Hungary struggles against Serbia for an entire year, them Bulgaria joins, and Serbia falls almost immediately
    *UK makes a huge deal out of the Germans invading Belgium, a neutral country, then proceeds to intervene in Greece in order for it to join the Entente (ahem, a neutral country too)
    *Romania finds it a grat idea to invade the much bigger Austria-Hungary even though it is mainly surrounded by Central Powers, then really surprisingly gets obliterated from both sides
    *Italy keeps attacking Austria-Hungary on the same front for two years, barely gains anything, Austria-Hungary launches a single attack, and successfully pushes into Italy
    Like W H A T

    • @lilestojkovicii6618
      @lilestojkovicii6618 Год назад +6

      Oh and the Italy point
      Their army was worse than Austro Hungarian army
      They had old ass guns (even Serbia had better tech), ancient battle tactics and overconfident generals
      Plus no efficient industry to support the war effort
      It's not that they didn't try to conquer Austria
      They did
      But they literally couldn't make any significant advance at all, plus the terrain was rough anyways (Alp mountains)
      So when they decided to take more action they lost really bad (Tho that was the first time they made Austria Hungary to actually focus on them a bit more)
      Their army almost collapsed afterwards and was basically kept alive by British and French help throughout the rest of the War

      И и не случайно именно в ПМВ массово распространились пацифистские идеи.

A one knock is enough against them, theyre just waiting who are the next ones who will taking over the ruins of Russian Empire. So the USSR thing surely would exist and the US-Russia relations nowadays are more vague if Kerensky succeed on neutralizing Lenin as it was already planned Stalin got him though if you know what I meant.

    All Russia had to do to win WW1 in the East against Germany was not lose. And it could have probably helped bring down Austria-Hungary faster as its armies were effective on that front.
    It could have easily held out until the German collapse in the West - which would have come much faster if Germany had to fight on two fronts for longer and if Austria-Hungary weakened faster - if its army hadn't been so appallingly led. As in, just amazingly poorly. Nicolas' decision to go to the front and make his own military decisions - including taking advice from his wife and Rasputin! - was particularly ill-advised.
    The Russian Empire would have survived, but the outrage over the losses would have probably forced Nicolas to adopt a constitutional monarchy or at least install a parliament with real power over him in 1918 or so. There would have been no Revolution and therefore no fear of commies, which is what brought Nazism to power in Germany. All in all, a better 20th Century.

    • @Mentol_
      @Mentol_ 2 года назад +1

      1. Revolutions occur due to public dissatisfaction with the lack of social reforms. Changing a full monarchy to a constitutional one does not resolve this issue.
      2. Hitler was appointed Chancellor by Hindenburg, who was pressured by German industrialists. They wanted revenge for the loss in ww1. Communism has nothing to do with this.

      Для изучения российской гражданки я использовал довольно действенный лайфхак, вбиваешь запрос в гугле по следующему шаблону: "название города" советская власть 1917. В итоге тебе предлагают довольно много локальных интересных сайтов, где можно найти полезную инфу. Cоветую :D

    Это восхитительно.представляю как это сложно сделать. Это ведь надо Учитывать каждые военные проишествия 1 мировой и начала гражданской войны. А это очень тяжёлая работа. Но несмотря на это ролик получился восхитительный. Очень качественная работа. Спасибо огромное.

    Extremely impressive work. Did my thesis in part on the Urmiah Crisis so got really excited when I saw you included map information from that event in this vid (though it was only a corner of the vid). Proof of extremely meticulous work, well done!
