Honestly I love how relatable it feels.
As someone who grew up with a father that had anger issues, it makes me really happy that Rob is aware of his temper but also makes the effort to check in with his kids about the situation. I wonder how many memories wouldn’t have been so scarring had my dad processed it with me afterward.
I feel the exact same way. I understand that someone can lose their temper but the fact that he talks it through with his kids afterwards is such a mature way of handling it. All my respect to Rob.
idk if its because my dad beat every women in front of me , but i learned to be the funny guy in class until i got a call home and got beat up as if i was in fight club lmao

Referring to award shows as "Arbitrary awards for imaginary achievements" is so brilliant, I had to write it down.
Charlie Day reminding everyone that he is a secret genius again.
I also wrote it down!
I'd like to see rob and Glenn take an anger management class together
This could be an episode 😂
It would be funny but I actually think Rob especially is very good at managing his anger, he's just assertive and not afraid of conflict
Take an anger management class versus each other.

“Arbitrary awards for made up achievements.” -Charley Day.
This applies to a lot more than the Emmy awards.
recognition is something that makes people feel very good...to be honest, it's why most people try hard at anything in life, not because of what it actually gets them, but because they want recognition from someone (parents, partner, children, peers). why not socially construct silly awards to make people happier? win win
I don't get the impression that's a Chuck Day original, though. That felt like it was a quote or common aphorism.
i think the discussion on french people's rudeness is interesting since even we tend to see eachother as mean depending on where we are from in the country (north vs south, parisian vs provencial etc...) , i'd gladly talk about it on the podcast as a french creep
As an American creep, my experience in France was that Paris absolutely lived up to the stereotypes. I spoke decent conversational French, and still (most of) the Parisians were incredibly rude, rolled their eyes even at the most basic of questions, and refused to speak French to me. On the other hand, the people in the south of France were extremely nice and personable. I went to a lot of small towns where nobody spoke English, and they were more than patient with my limited French capabilities. The south was also more gorgeous than I imagined!
But I have to add that I dealt with a level of sexual harassment all over the country unlike anything I've experienced in any other country I've been to. I was 14 years old the first time I went to France, and the things that grown men would say to me in public were absolutely sickening.
@@amityislandchum Sadly i feel like some french people feel offended by americans (even when they approach french people with the best of intentions as you did) because they have this weird stereotype of them feeling entitled or something.... Also it seems as Paris has maybe the same problem i've heard about New York? Since a lot of people come visit all year long, citizens that live there get tired of tourists and want to just get on with their lives without getting bothered. I'm from the south of France and i do feel like in areas of France outside of Paris we are nicer and willing to communicate with strangers. That might be because we are not jammed in a very heavy parisian routine? I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the rest of France because it's a beautiful country with amazing landscapes and great experiences to live (apart from the sexual harassment obviously, growing up getting catcalled was not fun at all for me and my friends either and i know exactly how it must have felt, french men can be really gross bastards)
I had a French tourist get an attitude with me IN AMERICA.
@@amityislandchum Parisians would initially be a bit rude to me because they thought I was American but they'd relax instantly once I told them I'm Mexican. I was only 15 but I knew that for the rest of the trip I'd have to say I'm Mexican to be treated nicely (which had the opposite effect of saying it in the US) lol
Maybe someone can corroborate this: I heard a theory that French people have this distain and cynicism toward others esp other countries is because they’ve always been number 2, historically. Rich and powerful and cultured yes, but always behind someone be it Spain, Britain, America, Germany, etc. and that creates a lot of bitterness.
Also personally when I was in Paris, I went to this old-timy lindy-hop dance thing and a Parisian woman was visibly unhappy that she was paired with me. (I’m Asian.)
I love the ostrich animation they use for Kaitlin talking.
Glenn's picture pose in comparison was 100% spot on 🤣
As much as I love getting background and stories behind the episodes, these storytelling podcasts are amazing. It highlights just how brilliantly funny you all are with the quick quips that leave me in stitches…and the commitment to the characters using the ostrich every time Kaitlin calls in makes me laugh every time.
Glen made me laugh so hard when he asked if anyone was talking about him at the emmy parties lol
It still makes me laugh when I hear Rob talking about being married to Kaitlin when they shit on each other so much in the show 😂
I will not believe that Denis Reynolds doesn’t have “security” cameras in his house

But the angle....you won't be able to see anyone's face

Sincerely nice to see there are people out there who actually even consider their kids' feelings before getting into public fights.
Many of us, myself included, unfortunately have parents who are basically the always sunny characters.
When my family went to France in the 90's, the first thing I remember when arriving was my mom asking a pair of airport employees if they spoke English & one replied in the snippiest way possible "we speak English, not American" & walked away.
The airport scene absolutely 100% confirms that Rob is in-fact Mac. I totally understand as a Brit the whole French hostility thing. I've kind of just accepted it over the years.
As an expat in France, I can confirm that a lot of French people (not all) can be a bit extreme about their language they just can't stand people not mastering it and pronouncing things incorrectly and they would even judge you for that. As for the arrogance and rudeness stereotype, having lived in a major city, Paris and a small one near the Atlantic coast, it's 100% true for the former and completely the opposite for the latter. I was even creeped out by how nice people were there at first.
Can confirm. Growing up I spent a lot of time traveling to and around France. The random small towns felt like a different country.
I tried to explain to my yankee husbeast what driving in the city is like. It’s not something I’ve seen before or since . I had a universal drivers license but was too intimidated to drive there.
my best friend in high school was from the countryside of france and her and her family were so fuckin nice and sweet
Charlie talking about ghouls irl is pretty awesome lol
I realized when he said "ghouls" here on the podcast that part of what makes it so funny whenever Charlie Kelly brings up ghouls on the show is simply the way that Charlie Day says the word "ghouls"
Glenn’s laughter is my new favorite sound in this world.
The Rob giggle always gets me!
Rob made sure his wife got the cream to ensure they had a happy ending that day. I can respect that.
Establishing dominance to get filled up with cream.
Dude’s sincerely good to his family, nothing much more respectable than that.
Kaitlin animated as a bird! Mwahh perfection, and had me laughing in addition to my laughing.
Whenever they mention weighing the scales of justice when new events happen, I imagine Rob's face with a quick image of a set of scales transparently flash in front of his face with a loud chime of a bell
Sunny deserves an Emmy Easy. Much better show than countless Emmy winning shows
They will but allll late
The Big Bang Theory has been nominated for 55 Emmy awards. That's pretty much all you need to know.
Award shows are a joke. I've always seem them as some subjective popularity contest of Hollywood. They have their favourites that win over and over with no real technical merit to distinguish why.

That’s basically Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I love these Rob Justice stories, they’re so well described
What with Glenn coming in with his broken body, cat stuff, ghoul poses (18:16 18:28 18:37 what is this man even DOING lmao) and champagne problems, and Rob dishing out Justice in a French airport, I _actually_ didn't care that they didn't talk about Sunny this week! It's also interesting hearing about award shows from the other side, especially when Charlie trashes their validity... and of course every time they have Kaitlin on is a win for us!
Honestly I never care if they talk about the show lol. Their banter is so good that I don't even think it matters
Rob's talking about Parisians, I think. In my experience, non-Parisian French people are typically pretty nice. But Parisians are always "too busy" to have any compassion. I once was at a Parisian cafe with my partially deaf friend who had worked really hard to learn French. And as soon as he heard her Scottish accent and beginner-level French, he replied in English. We ordered drinks, he walked away, then I "went to the bathroom" but secretly found the server and paid him 20 euro to finish service in French. I know money talks, yada yada, but all I'm saying is that Parisians seem to always act "too busy" to be nice. Everywhere else I went in that country was inviting and people showed a genuine interest in me. But Paris is pretty heartless.
Update: They are correct about the sacred break time. I went to the bank once and none of the employees would look at me. I said in French, "Hello... excuse me... is the bank open today?" like trying to be nice and eventually the bank manager walked out of his office and was like, "Hey, sorry, they're on their lunch break, how can I help you?" LMAO this was in the northeast.
Agreed, I go to France four times a year and nothing gets in the way of their two hour lunch and they will not work a minute of overtime. When the government suggests they make their working week longer than 35 hours, they take to the streets and set fire to everything!
ahh the magic of unions. i bet they get pretty decent pay too

That is not security camera.
Deep in my heart, I know he has them. But him not acknowledging them, really chaps my ass. 🤣
Incredible how entertaining you guys can be telling a single story for almost an hour.. Bravo
For me it's when you try to speak French to be polite and the French pretend not to know what you're saying. I know they know what I'm saying because a) I took French for like 8 years at school and the phrase I'm saying is basic af and b) other French people have zero issues understanding me. But they can tell I'm British and apparently that's enough to be rude. Go to Germany instead lol, they're so nice there.
First, you should have conquered them at some point, but I guess the British are afraid of white flags. Second, Germans are just a bunch of socialists pretending to be nice so we don't have another world war with them.
I would hope most people don't do that! this seems extremely rude to me. I'm French (and living in England actually) and always find it great to meet native English speakers who learn French and try it out, it's an honour to have foreigners being interested in our language and culture.
@@kevinh.1624 Tbh I always assumed it wasn't the majority of France, more a good proportion of French customer service workers. Since I've only visited France as a tourist, the vast majority of people I've interacted with likely interact with other tourists on a pretty regular basis (food staff, ticket vendors ect.) and obviously something there has put them off foreigners lmao.
So nice that you live in the UK! Bit of a nightmare at the moment though with the cost of living and prime ministers coming in and out like a revolving door. Hope you're finding it okay here!
I love how blunt & straight forward Glenn and Rob are!
Charlie is hilarious, scales need weighing for some Rob Justice! 😂😂😂
He always gets her the cream
The bird when Kaitlyn talks is GOLD
Now I have to see an episode of Sunny where we hear Dennis shouting "I desire the sweet cream of justice!" or "I will taste the sweet cream of justice!"
Recreating/riffing on this in an episode of Sunny would be really great!
Dennis saying "I will taste the sweet cream of justice!" Would probably feel really forced. Or you just hear it and then they show him eating ice cream....and then they zoom out and he's about to be executed for chopping up the gang.
I feel like these podcast are really going to bring some good energy into the next season. Sitting down weekly and chatting whether about an episode or just life shows so much dynamic flow that it'll translate down the line.
Great production! Video quality, sound, camera angles e.t.c. Best produced video podcast I think I've seen.

2am having a bad night, cant sleep. Perfect timing for this to come out, hadn't even thought about it being sunday night
It gets better
I’m completely with Rob on this one. As someone who has worked both retail and in restaurants there is no reason to be so rude. Sure, some days are rough but that doesn’t give you a pass to be a complete jackass when you’re simply being asked to do your job. Also, $30 a head is insane.
Glenn's vitruvian essence clearly eminates from his toes up to the top of his spine, hence why his toe injury has effected his neck, a moment of silence for the end of the vitruvian era.
I used to work a very tourist-facing job in NYC, dealt with tourists from all over the US, Europe and Asia, and my experience was that French tourists were BY FAR the most difficult people to deal with. It was like they went out of their way to be jerks, and while they were on vacation no less. It was baffling.
When I was 15 I went to France with my family. We were at a restaurant and I had to find the bathroom, I asked an employee in broken French, “hi, ou sont les toilettes?” He pointed down a hallway with a couple of doors, and as I began to walk towards the door I thought he pointed to, he grabbed me by the belt and slowly but forcefully pulled me backwards. After being leashed to him for a few steps, he pushed me towards (basically into) the door that was the bathroom. I’ve never had someone be so rudely helpful.
I once had a layover in a French airport and it was exactly the same. I was once queuing to buy a bottle of water for a solid 5 minutes while 5 airport staff stood around talking in French and ignoring everyone.
They have strong syndicates and a propensity to worker's rights. Which is a good thing.

It's just the continuing evolution of the man, the myth, nay, the legend, Rob Justice!
My roommate was French (from France) and I asked her about the stereotype about French people being rude and she said it was 100% true. She said French people, specifically servers, waitresses, etc., just find American tourists annoying and fuck with them.
It’s not 100% true. That would mean every French person is rude. I’ve interacted with plenty of people in France who were not rude. A stereotype is not a fact. That’s why it’s called a stereotype…
@@roycedot if you actually read my comment, that's why I said the stereotype is true. Meaning it's generally true. I didn't say it was a fact. I loved my French roommate.
I have an ex-uncle who came from Paris and the moment I met him, I hated him. Never understood what my aunt saw in him. Almost caved his face in for him a few times when he was being an unhelpful asshole for no reason. It's pathological how some of them are.
it's so weird. especially if you work in a fucking airport. in relation to rob's story, if you hate tourists (even if it's specifically british or american tourists) so much, why would you consciously decide to work in an area where you have to encounter hundreds of them daily?
@@1hall you sound like a Republican. Working in an airport clearly isn't a high paying job, people do not "choose" jobs like that, they take them because it might be all that's on offer.
The squeezing the milk thing that Charlie said made me cry of laughter
That story in the French airport feels so on-point to me. I'm not American or British, but I've had similar experiences, not to the same level as Rob - the cream of justice peaked there! But I've had a woman in a cafe refuse to speak English to me, but then speak English to my male friend. And I've also seen one of those people who check passports and tickets barely helping out a woman who was clearly in distress and was speaking English to him - it seemed like she was going to miss her flight and was looking for her gate - and he did the exact same "over there" movement that that woman did to Rob. I really don't get this behaviour.
I learned that if you say "Hello, I'm sorry, but I don't speak French, do you speak English?" in French, they'll be much more obliging. Easily the most valuable sentence you can learn.
@@oscarx-ray3545 or they will roll their eyes for your poor pronunciation lmao

My girlfriend had a residency outside of Paris this summer and spent a month basically being harassed and stalked by men old enough to be her dad which the rural police just shrugged off. I think it’s a generational thing because all the younger French people I know are very sweet, but boy there must have been something in the water over there in the past

I think the shoot was bad in general, all the photos are lit way too brightly and washed out
I feel vindicated because I remember thinking it *was* an awkward picture. Five star men don’t deserve pictures like that! 😂
I'm sure Kaitlin intentionally neglected to mention that after Rob stood up for her and acquired the cream, that there was almost certainly a secondary cream exchange that took place later on in the evening
I think Parisians are a special case. French people outside of Paris are very chill in my experience. I'm also super curious about French on French rudeness. Like have we considered that they are just as shitty to each other as they are to anglophones?
It’s definitely Parisians, and it makes sense. The city is overwhelmed by self entitled tourists constantly; that is exhausting, and leads to a quick burn out, overwork, and resentment.
Actually, the English and French have a long history of wars and hating each other. It's not uncommon for them to trash talk the other just for the hell of it. Europeans have a similar thing for Americans because they feel superior for reasons that don't exist.
Country and small town people are pretty much the same everywhere on earth.
I lived in France for two years, and the power dynamic between customers and employees was one of the biggest difference. Customers certainly hold most of the power in the states, but it's about equal in France. Keep up the good work Jabronis!
