I’m in the process of teaching myself how to edit my pet photography, and while I can appreciate this style I’m always just so confused when I see it? Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful but the dogs always look so cartoonish or fake. If I paid someone to photograph my dog, I would want it to actually look like a picture of my dog? Not an oil painting? I’m sure it just comes down to taste and style but I’m genuinely asking for any input on this. Again not trying to say that this isn’t skillful and beautiful work! I guess I just prefer a more natural editing style?

Super on trend right now, so I was asked how it might be edited. I love all forms of painterly and natural photography. What you prefer is….. what YOU prefer. Not everyone prefers what you prefer, nor should they. It's what make the world interesting and people unique. This is a style many others love, that is ok too. You go and do what you love, it's what photography is all about. It's not pushing our opinions or tastes onto others. Let people do what they want, it's easy.

This was a great video, thank you and I so agree, the editing makes the dog a definite focal point and I would make a huge print of it. The alien skin reference, is that one of your actions? Love watching your videos!

I actually liked the image with the fall colors. But everyone has their tastes. Any way to repeat this with the new tools in LR?
