Love this format too! Seriously, you two can do........ No prep, just sit and chat. Gather viewer tips and talk about it. Take any knitting topic and discuss. Create a video with pictures of your family in your knitwear. Love it all!
I am THRILLED to have found your channel! The two of you are adorable and just what I was looking for in a podcast. I love to watch you while I knit and I feel like I’m knitting with friends. Thank you for bringing joy into my life. ❤️❤️❤️

Kim, that green yarn you used for the ranunculus sweater finally makes me want to make one. GORGEOUS!!!❤ The green looks great on you, btw..compliments your hair color. Jonna, I got the stomach flu right after having a certain soup, and like your sweater I could not even look at that soup for a WHILE afterwards. ;-) I hear ya!
I have to confess I was really happy that there were no commercials during this episode! 😀 I had actually stopped watching one day when your video was interrupted a number of times with the RUclips commercial breaks. 😢 I know that often those commercials are not your choice, it's something RUclips makes you do, I guess, but when there are commercials every five minutes, I just can't watch. 😢 So this episode was wonderful! ❣️I was trying to figure out what the beautiful sweater was - Love Note, maybe? I feel as though you had maybe talked about it in an earlier episode? In any event, very beautiful and flattering. Loved the lower neckline! ❣️
Hi Janet! Sorry about those midroll commercials. We finally figured out how to remove them, so hopefully you can go back and watch the videos you missed. Kim is wearing a Ranunculus! The details are in the show notes and even more details in her Ravelry. Yes! She finally started posting projects on Ravelry. Yay! Thank you so much for watching! ❤️ K&J
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna yay!!!! I will definitely go back and watch now! And thank you so much for the information on the sweater! I thought it might be Ranunculus because of a comment made, but then I was convinced the laciness looked like Love Note. We should never second guess ourselves, I guess. LOL I LOVE Ranunculus and have knit eleven of them. (Not all for myself - I have four daughters who enjoy receiving hand knits!) And I definitely plan on knitting more. It doesn't take much yarn, and it is such a quick knit. A match made in heaven, IMO. ❣️ Also, so glad to hear you are both over your March illnesses! I guess we need to not feel well once in a while to appreciate how wonderful it is to be healthy most of the time. @@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna oh yes, I bought the musselburgh pattern but I haven't started it yet, its definitely on my list. I have knit loads of Barley hats from Tin Can Knits. A little late watching this but I LOVE knitting socks. I have not heard on any podcast about the shaped arch sock. There is a pay for pattern on Ravelry I think and once you have made one or two of them you actually don’t need to follow the pattern because you can make them with any weight of yarn and/or number of stitches. It fits SOOO well and doesn’t get baggy around the foot. Also, the thing that was on the knitting traditions podcast is a Twizzter and it’s from Sweden - my husband gave me one for my birthday last month (I may or may not have guided him towards it). It is really cool although my adult children have told me not to walk around their neighbourhoods using it😂😂 Happy sock knitting!!
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna So it’s called the Basic Shaped Arch Socks by Marlowe Crawford on Ravelry. I use this ALL the time, for every pair of socks and just accommodate the numbers for the yarn thickness and number of stitches. As I said, once you have done it a couple of times you won’t need the pattern. I also do it on afterthought heel socks! My stash is in drawers in a wardrobe, a lot of drawers. I do have some of those boxes but they are full of crafting books and equipment, but I might get more inspired to finish some yarn if it is on show. The cat Inky might decide to curl up in it!
I am glad that you are both feeling better. It was great to "see" you again. I find that I knit socks on 9 inch circulars. This Nanny Knits helped someone to gather up 500 pairs of hand knit socks for a donation to an ambulance service. I have donated hats and coals to a local group that gets cold weather accessories for homeless and children each winter. I will say that I like the idea of leaving things in bus or train stations. Do you have favorite yarns for hat knitting? I have been trying to find something good and warm with the necessary stretch for a snug fit to insure a good fit for snowboarding and skiing.
Wow, that's crazy! Thank you for sharing! I really like John Arbon Knit by Numbers DK. I have used it for a couple of Oslo Hats. Kim has also used it. I recently used Snefnug for two Classic Ribbed Hats and I love it!! I'm definitely not an expert though!
Kim, when you are in France see if you can visit Elle Tricote yarn in Longwy-sur-Le -Doubs, I visited when they were in Strasbourg , I have never seen such spectacular knitting and yarn.
the mussleburg hat has become the repeat item for me to knit like your ranunculus....on my second scrappy that I have almost completed I did simple Nordic color work and have eyes on other ideas with the scrap pile
Great to see you again! In regards to knitting a tube for a sock, and then cutting in and adding heels and toes, Kay Litton (A.K.A. The Crazy Sock Lady) has a FABULOUS video tutorial on an "afterthought everything sock." I made a striped pair of socks with Knitpicks Felici, and the thing to consider using this method is that the stripe sequence will be opposite on each sock. I didn't mind it though, and they came out great!
So glad you are both better. It is wonderful to have you back again. I enjoyed your podcast as it is always entertaining, informative and a delight. Looking forward to episode 5. 😍
So great to see you two again. Glad you’re feeling better. BTW, I personally love all your chatter whether it’s yarn or knit related or not, you guys are so fun. Thank you. ❤️🌻🇺🇦
Jonna, I just started a pair of baby socks, so, I will try doing the heel flap, turn & gusset on the front and back to see what happens...I'll let you know!!!
Oh you poor girls 🤒 glad you’re back together. Yarn barf, it’s not too bad and a little meditative to untangle and I’ve never had to cut. I do notice the slower I wind my ball the less yarn barf - none actually 🤔😳
Kate Atherly has a free sock pattern that’s really good- wise Hilda’s basic ribbed sock. It’s a 3 -1 rib so it fits really well ( like the DRK every day sock) but it is cuff down with heel flap and gusset. Having knit both, the Kate atherly sock fits my foot better and the heel feels sturdier than the fleegle heel- more durable. The fleegle heel is nice to avoid the dreaded holes.
I think you two are doing a terrific job podcasting. Thank you for curating all the sock tips you received. I do have a question: How did you meet? You compliment each other so well: a perfect fit.
Happy to see you again. Jonna's stash is beautiful. Stars Hollow Yarns is my LYS and McKinney Knittery is my go to store when I am visiting family in Texas.
Wow! My daughter lives in Argyle, about 50 minutes away. I can't wait to visit Stars Hollow again. My other daughter used to live in New Milford so I would try to visit when I was up there.
So glad you’re both feeling better. I was so happy to see your video this morning! Last night I was thinking to myself that I hadn’t seen any good knitting videos pop up and here you are. Thanks for another fun episode.
I’m happy to see both of you back ! It surprises me that short circulars were more popular in the comments. I’m a beginner sock knitter. I use the addi flexi flips . I certainly want to try the short circulars but I’m wondering how everyone handles knitting the heel and toes with them? With flexible dpns - it can easily be done.
Hi and welcome!! Yes, most people said they switched needles for the heels and toes. I think the Crazy Sock Lady has a tutorial for using just small circs.
Glad all are well again. Can’t think of anything new as I’m too new. I keep looking to see how to hold everything and how anyone else holds the needles and thread. Going to try the Classic ribbed hat Purl soho has. K1 p1 I can do that. Reading how to join the cast on . Have fun at any of the crawls.
So glad to see you today. Stay healthy!😊Thank you for summarizing the sock comments. I tend to notice similarities between things and have unusual observations! Part of life! Have a happy spring and summer. I will give the shorter needles a try again. Look forward to future podcasts, whenever it works for both of you. Cheers.
Kim, I also use my actual knitting as my swatch unless the yarn is incredibly different to pattern choice, Row gauge, what is that🤣, don’t think I have ever got that either.
So happy to see you podcast. Glad you are back and healthy. LOVE the color of your Ranunculus Kim! Wow 🤩 and Jonna, where is your shirt from? It looks like Liberty of London fabric and I’m in love. You guys are awesome!
Wonderful to see you and that you are both healthy and feeling good. This was fun and very informational. I am a 9 inch circular fan, but do heels and toes on dpns. I like the idea of knitting a tube with the cuff on both ends.... with afterthought heels and toes. Interesting‼️🧶
Thank you for the great episode. I belong to a group called Chase the Chill, Mount Vernon and we knit scarfs all throughout the year. Then in December/January they are put out on trees; fences for people to take. We have a tag in English/Spanish that says we are not lost we are yours to take.
I have a family attached to my daughter's guy. Every year, I send them hats. One of the guys spent time in Europe last spring. He send me a special Instagram post showing that one of the hats went with him. Through 30+ years of knitting, I have knit hundreds of hats. I got a message one day from a friend. We have lost touch, but she wanted me to know that her husband still wears the hat I knitted for him. He has had it for 20+years. My reaction? "I knitted him a hat?" So now I photo everything I knit. This Christmas I knitted 28 hats for everyone. Hats and socks are my favorites.
Kim, I never make row gauge either. I usually just buy an extra skein of yarn to do my project. The only time it has been an issue has been with raglan sleeve sweaters. I saw on another podcast to go up needle size to get the row gauge, then adapt the stitch number to obtain the fit. Glad to see you again!
So glad to see you both back and healthy again. Kim if you love knitting the ranunculus you should try the Love note by tin can knits its a great knit and it has sizes from baby to adult so you can do one for your granddaughter. Also the Hermione sock pattern on ravelry is a great free sock pattern to try.
Missed watching you guys the past few weeks, but glad you are both feeling better!! Being sick sucks! Love the tip of using a safety pin to connect the socks when knitting 2-@-a-time! I think I might be visiting family in Pleasantville in April and would love to meet up with you both and check out a new to me yarn shop in Mt. Kisco!!
I'm glad it helped! Mine kept sliding all around. We would be happy to say hello! We certainly don't need an excuse to visit PUES. We do each have some travel, so let us know asap.
Soooo good to see you both, happy and healthy. The new setting is so nice. Loved all the tips for sock knitting. Congratulations on how much the podcast is growing...I'm not surprised, you both are so fun to spend time with. I also do not do separate switching, I use my project. I found a great toe video I think you'll like it is definitely my new toe of choice: Turkish Cast on Tutorial for Toe Up Socks by Relatively Crafty, make sure to watch it all the way through, her method for doing the toe increases is great, no more fiddly M1R, M1L. Takes care.
Great episode ladies. Thank you so much for mentioning Ellie's tutorials. The sock tube knitting is great for Knit clubs. In my case Knit club at the Pub. I can knit away with a glass of wine & not make mistakes. You split the tube buy cutting one stitch & unpicking a round to leave live stitches which you pick up & knit your after thought heels, toes & extra cuffs to get 4 socks (i.e 2 pairs) out of 100g. Watch Ellie's tutorials it explains it all. Loved Kim's sweater & looking forward to episode 5. Take care love from across the pond. X
Glad to see you both back! Yea! I ordered the sock and hat patterns . . . thanks for highlighting them. May you have a happy and healthy rest of the year!
Awesome that you are back and feeling much better! How about doing a minisode on colorwork yarn management when knitting a sweater. I always have trouble with tangling, puckering, and fear of knitting a sweater. However, lovely color work sweaters by Jenn Steingass, Caitlin Hunter, and other beautiful sweater designers have color work in their designs that’s so inspiring to knit. Thanks for sharing all the wonderful tips on sock knitting! ❤️❤️
I'm so enjoying your podcast!!! Jonna, I would love to know more about your top. Did you make it, and what pattern did you use? Also, I believe in one of your previous episodes you mentioned about making a capsule wardrobe. Can you expand upon this? (I've heard of capsule wardrobes and understand the concept of them), but would love to know about the capsule wardrobe in regards to knitting and sewing decisions.
Thank you! I didn't make it but it is Liberty of London. I bought it at JCrew years ago. Some of my favorite pattern websites are: shopwiksten.com/ merchantandmills.com/store/ www.twigandtale.com/ I hope this helps!
I don't follow Franklin Habit, but maybe Jonna does? But I will check it out. And I wish I could go yarn shopping in Paris, but we're just switching planes there and heading to Bordeaux. Thanks for watching! ~Kim
Glad you are feeling better & it's so good to see you two again! For me, the type of needle affects my gauge, as I adjust my tension so I can keep my knitting rhythm. I prefer to knit on Addi needles because they are so smooth and slippery, and I can knit quicker on them. When I use different needles I end up knitting looser so that I can keep my speed. Also, I use magic loop one at a time if I'm knitting socks. I've tried small circulars once but they were uncomfortable & slow - I might give them another go at some point, but I'm not feeling it at the moment.
I’m so glad y’all are feeling better. I love my shortie sets. They are great for socks, sleeves, baby hats, etc. 👍🏻 Thanks for all the great tips!! I knit the cuff, leg, and foot on 9” circulars but find everything else too fumbly so I use dpn’s for those parts. I’m weird. Lol. I don’t swatch either 😂 So far, so good. A top and a sweater fit. Socks fits hats too but I agree Kim, if it is a complicated or color work sweater, I will swatch. 👍🏻
I follow you from Bordeaux (and also host a knitting podcast on my channel) and we do have a LYS here, or several even : La Lainerie, La Droguerie, L'atelier de la Creation... sure you can find some nice shopping to do on LYS DAY!!! enjoy!!
Yay!!! Maybe we can meet that day! But my flight doesn’t land in Bordeaux until 3pm. Will I have time to get out of the airport, to my Airbnb in Ginko, and then back to a LYS before it closes? And which LYS should I go to? I’m getting SO EXCITED! One month from TODAY!
I'm with you, Kim! I don't do gauge swatches -- at least, 99.9% of the time, I don't. I too use the first several inches of the project (no matter what it is) as my swatch. Only once can I recall swatching, and that's because I wanted to make a cardigan with a yarn that was very different in composition and weight than called for in the pattern. 🙂
I'm so happy you're on the "mended" side of illness. I love your cozy spot with the lovely yarn stash. Our cat Rocky would dismantle it in a flash; my stash is in zippered bags, boxes with lids, and behind firmly-closed doors. If there's an open bag, it's hanging safely on a high hook with no stairstep boxes underneath. He'll even poke his head inside bags on the floor. Yes, he's stolen skeins that end up trailing yarn all through the house! My favorite tip for striped socks or any striped piece is to use the first of two techniques demonstrated by Roxanne Richardson in her Technique Tuesday video called "Jogless Stripes Two Ways." It's easy, nearly invisible, and a great technique. Another tip: with this video and others, I post links right onto the project pages in Ravelry where I used them. For example, I know that Roxanne's jogless stripes video is directly linked on my project page for striped socks I made for my niece. I've done this with other video techniques if they're in the public domain. Happy Knitting!
Too funny...no, no cats and the dog isn't interested. I thought my grandson would love playing with the yarn but he just looked! Thank you for the Ravelry tip...I think I did this once when I needed to put short rows into something above the hem. Glad we're back!
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna LOL. I didnt' say I was lazy, just a lazy knitter. I hate swatching, and if there is an easier way, I will find it. And I sincerely doubt that either one of your are lazy! @@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna That explains why I love it! Liberty fabrics are my some of my favorites. So pretty. I’m on the hunt for an indie pattern now! Thank you:) This is close and with a drapy viscose or tana lawn Etsy shop - WardrobeByMe Moira Blouse
I've tried a couple different ways of knitting socks and have just decided not to knit them! Or maybe I should try DK socks since I hate those tiny little needles!
Happy you’re back. First sock knitting with a heel flap and gusset and I mistakenly started a color work sock. The problem I have is when I pick up stitches on the flap with a contrast color how do I get across to the other side of the flap to pick up. I can’t take the contrast across the instep as it doesn’t belong in the color work pattern. Any viewers have tips for this?! I very much appreciate it.

Thank you so much for letting us know. Jonna is always on the lookout for a well-fitting sock pattern. ~Kim
I'm so thankful you both are back, and are doing well. Thank you for your hard work. I sure enjoy your podcasts!
I love 9 inch circulars ! Thank you for another fabulous episode
Hey ladies! Thanks for the shout out. Great episode and glad you are feeling better!
Knit in good health, xx, @Professor Purl
I think you two are doing a terrific job podcasting. Thank you for curating all the sock tips you received. I do have a question: How did you meet? You compliment each other so well: a perfect fit.
Thank you! We met through a mutual friend who thought so too! Funny though, we didn't know we both knit until after we'd known each other awhile.
Missed you both!! GREAT podcast!! Glad everyone is well!!
So glad you’re both feeling better. I was so happy to see your video this morning! Last night I was thinking to myself that I hadn’t seen any good knitting videos pop up and here you are. Thanks for another fun episode.
Kim and Jonna, I am so glad you are feeling better. I loved this video and I can't wait for Episode 5. Rachelle in Seattle
Missed you!! Your episodes always a pleasure!!!!
So glad to have you back! Jonna your stash is great! I have over 200 skeins in bins (doing a Yarn Diet in 2022)
It makes me SO happy!!
You can do it! I just made two. I think they run large, fyi.
Thank you! Kim’s Ranunculus details are in her Ravelry!? lol and yes, my blouse is Liberty. I’m a little obsessed right now.
Good to see you. I look forward to watching. Love your smiles!
Thank you kim and Jonna. I have just, weekend knitting, watched several of your videos. They are a delight, I am looking forward to the next one!
What a lovely thing to do!
Good to see you ladies again; Kim I love your Ranunculus! Great sock tips, thank you.
Wow, that's amazing!! Thank you for sharing.
Jonna has made both of those patterns! The Love Note would be a great summer sweater for Kim! Thank you for the recommendations.
So glad you are back and both healthy! Great episode of tips and tricks! Yes we needed hear this…..ramble on please 😁 💓
So glad to see you again!
Really enjoyed the podcast!
Takes care.
thank you! going to watch right now.
I’m knitting socks and watching you - nice way to spend some time 😊
I've used her Fluroite Sock Pattern for several pairs. I knew I would love DRK and working on that pair now.
Nice to see you’re both feeling well again! And thank you for the wonderful and helpful sock knitting tips!
I started watching today! Four socks is amazing!! Thank you for the recommendation. Jonna
So great you are back ladies! DPNs all the way for me! Especially Signature Needle Arts needles. They are incredible.
Thank you, I'll add it to our list!
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna You are very welcome! Have a great weekend! ☺️
So happy to see y’all back👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I'm so enjoying your podcast!!!
Some of my favorite pattern websites are:
shopwiksten.com/
merchantandmills.com/store/
www.twigandtale.com/
I hope this helps!
Do you follow Franklin Habit? His LYS in Paris is Les Tricoteurs Volants. Good to see you both again!
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna why not get in touch on Ravelry (Tricolibri) so that we can arrange something maybe?
Hi Emma!
I sent you a message on Ravelry. Hoping we can meet while I’m in Bordeaux. I arrive next weekend. ❤️ Kim
So good to see your back. Happy knitting! ❤️❤️❤️
enjoy watching you my goal is socks and fingerless gloves i am a beginer knitter
You can do it! Keep us posted! xoxo
I’m a lazy knitter too!
Kim is the least lazy person I know, lol!!! It is I who is lazy!! lol
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna LOL. I didnt' say I was lazy, just a lazy knitter. I hate swatching, and if there is an easier way, I will find it. And I sincerely doubt that either one of your are lazy! I wish I was closer by, because I would love to sit and knit with you guys. I am in Hamilton Ontario, only 40 minutes from Niagara Falls, so maybe if you're ever in Ontario......
Great to see you both! I was wondering about the yarn Kim used for her Ranunculus and Jonna's lovely blouse. I still haven't dared to make socks!
I finally got Kim to post her projects in Ravelry!! Here's the link: www.ravelry.com/projects/itismekimmy/ranunculus
My blouse is an old JCrew one in Liberty of London. Thank you!
There is a new book called ‘Knit 2 Socks in 1’ by Safiyyah Taylor that teaches the one tube with two socks process you mentioned … love your podcast so much!! ❤️
Thank you! That book looks amazing. I am putting it on my wishlist! Jonna
Hello Kim and Jonna, I know I’m going back in time here, but I’m loving your blouse Jonna. I didn’t notice any mention of it. Did you make it? And if you did, would you mind sharing what pattern you used? I really enjoy watching your videos while I knit. Thank you both for all you do!
Thank you! It's actually a JCrew blouse in Liberty of London, so I didn't make it. Would be a super cute pattern though!
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna That explains why I love it! Liberty fabrics are my some of my favorites. So pretty. I’m on the hunt for an indie pattern now! Thank you:)

I just discovered your podcast and I love it. Jonna, can you tell me where you got your beautiful blouse?
Hi Wendy,
We're so happy you discovered us and are enjoying our channel! Jonna purchased her blouse from JCrew! :) Kim
Thanks so much for replying. I will have to get sewing since I don't see if anymore!
So happy to see you both again! Looking forward to watching episode 5. 💕
I've tried a couple different ways of knitting socks and have just decided not to knit them! Or maybe I should try DK socks since I hate those tiny little needles!
Yes, on a US3! Or, worsted even.
My sock tube is growing slowly as I do it in the car. Ellie’s (Crafthousemagic) video is excellent and she is an amazing crafter.
Fingers crossed! I'm just knitting round and round!
Can you just “catch” the contrast on the instep? This is the only thing I can think of. Keep us posted.
