Only four years! As a novice knitter I have learned so much from you. Your love for the craft certainly comes across. I can listen to you talk about your projects all day. Thank you Jonna😊
Jonna, don't overdye the sweater - it's gorgeous! Even if you only wear it to knitting events, it would be worth it. And you can duplicate stitch over the little mistake on the yoke if you have any of the yarn left.
Well done! Your sweaters are gorgeous & I appreciate (as a newish knitter) all the information. I must say that I think you have missed your calling. You should be a PANTENE model, as you hair is glorious!! Congratulations on hitting 10,000 subscribers.
What a delight you are! Only four years?? Very impressive! I’m very happy I’ve stumbled across your channel and have gotten to know both you and Kim! I’ve been knitting forever…self taught way back when I was in University. I know Kim is just two years younger than I am as she said she graduated in 82 and I graduated in 80! The first sweater I ever made ended up being a size 52 because I k ew nothing about gauge l. It was a sweater I was knitting for a boyfriend at the time! Luckily I learned how to knit a little more by the time I married my husband. And lucky for me he never complains about yarn loll! Very much enjoyed your sweater parade!!
I'm so glad I happened upon your channel! To see what you've accomplished in just 4 years gives me a lot of encouragement! I'm just learning so to see what you were able to do in just your first few sweaters is getting me so excited!
this is absolutely my favorite type of episode. I love hearing about all the patterns, yarns, and most of all your opinion knitting them. extremely useful.
I just love this episode! I really enjoyed seeing all of your sweaters and you did a really great job of explaining everything. I watched it more than once and thoroughly loved it each time! Keep up the wonderful work~we love you! 10,000 subscribers cannot be wrong :)
Jonna, I just discovered your podcast and loved this episode. Your knitting choices match my own and I loved your comments and reviews of the patterns. Thanks for an enjoyable time.
Jonna, we have something in common... Summer is my least favorite season as well. Guess where we live? South Texas! The heat is unbearable! I enjoyed this peak into your knitting journey. And I can hardly wait to hear about Kim's vacation. Cheers!
Fabulous episode! I loved hearing about your knitting journey and the gorgeous sweaters that you've made! I'm a process knitter, too, and struggle with the knits that I enjoyed making, but rarely wear 😕 But, as soon as I put the needles in my hands and begin to knit, I can feel my body relaxing into the process, with my blood pressure decreasing!
Jonna, thank you for sharing your knitting journey through all those lovely sweaters. You are such a courageous knitter. I have been knitting forever and just recently returned to knitting adult sized sweaters for me after a lifetime of baby and kid knits, hats and mitts. I have rarely had a knitting buddy and only recently (since COVID) discovered knitting blogs, although I have googled techniques like Kitchener stitch and different cast ones and cast offs over the years. I must say that my sweater envy has caused me to download a zillion patterns and accumulate a LOT of sweater quantities of yarn 🧶 that I better get cracking on! Y Mastercard is hurting! 🤗😉 I have knit 2 LOVENOTES and like you found the provisional cast on fiddle and sleeve cast off too tight, so changed that on the second sweater. I really should take out the cuffs on my first one and make the cast off looser, as I am sure I would wear it more often. Still haven’t fallen down the Ranunculus rabbit hole, but I can feel it happening in my near future! Lol!
Sorry, not sorry!! I hear you about the Mastercard!! You should SEE my Ravelry library...I really should learn to use my queue! Thank you for your sweet comment.
Thank you very much Jonna! Very beautiful knit collection. Wonderful tips, made a lot screenshots for my wish-list, though it is already so long, i need extra life to make them all 😂 love your podcasts ❤
Congrats to you and Kim on your podcast milestone of 10,000 subscribers in such a short period of time! Great solo podcast, Jonna! Loved seeing all of your hand knits completed since starting your knitting journey 4 years ago, each so beautiful! Thanks for sharing your stories. And, agree that it would be a shame to overdye your gorgeous sweater. Look forward to getting a notification of your next podcast!
Thank you. If I am being honest, it's less a problem with the sweater and more about feeling self-conscious in it. I should focus on changing that instead of changing the sweater, right?? LOL
When I saw your Salty Air Tee on episode 9 I purchased the pattern and I am knitting one for my oldest granddaughter and they knit one for my dil. It’s such a great well written pattern.
Great episode Jonna! I did miss Kim just cause you are both great and either one of you would be missed. But I so appreciate that you gave us an episode any way.
Aida Boza . Jonna you did a great show. Dye your sweater it will be a petty not to wear it. Kim I missed not seeing you. I hope you will share your amazing vacation and the experience being a pioneer woman.
Thanks Jonna, that was really really enjoyable. You have a gorgeous collection of knitwear there now. I love what you have selected, the patterns, colours - you have great taste.
Oh wow, I also studied math and my thesis was working on epidemiology models (bio math)! What a small world. I love seeing all your sweaters and have added a few new patterns to my list. Thanks!
Wonderful episode. Kim was missed, but I really enjoyed hearing about your knitting journey. I am just now heading down the sweater rabbit hole so your choices are great to see - I’ve favorited several! Working on the Weekend Sweater by Darling J’adore at the moment, but decided to use a basic Lion’s Brand yarn since I knew I would be making many mistakes. I mean, design choices! But it’s been a great learning experience and I’m hoping it is preparing me for tacking a Ranunculus or something else! We’ll see what I end up with for Rhinebeck. Hope to see you there!
I learn something new with every sweater! And, I still makes lots of mistakes...at least now I can identify them and usually I can fix them! See you at NYSW!!
Jonna, you did a great solo video. Such beautiful sweaters and lots of useful information for new and experienced knitters. Thank you for taking the time to share your expertise with us.
Interestingly, I just watched an Andrea Mowry video where she said if someone finds that they purl more loosely than they knit, just wrap the yarn around your needle in the opposite direction for your purl stitch and it will be tighter. Of course then your stitch will be twisted so when you get back to that stitch on the next round, you will have to knit into the back of the stitch to untwist it. When you said you had wrapped your yarn around your needle in the opposite direction when purling when you first learned to knit, it made me think of what Andrea had said. See you were just way ahead of all of us all along!! Since I purl more loosely than I knit, I am going to try this to see if it tightens my purl stitches. Love your video!!
When I first went to a yarn shop, someone told me I was "lazy purling" which made me think I was doing something incorrectly. I rushed to YT and "corrected" my mistakes. Now, I realize it's just different!! I do think it will help me neaten up my ribbing, too. One of the things I love about our channel is that I get to learn from all of you!! It's like having 10K knitting friends...always someone to talk to.
Jonna, such a great episode!! Thank you so much for sharing your knitting journey and your sweaters with us!! You’re an amazing knitter and I have learned so much from you today in this podcast!! You’re an inspiration to me as I’m also a fairly new knitter (5 or so years ) and have not accomplished as much as you yet with my craft, but I hope to Thank you !!💕💕
Thank you! I was pretty nuts about knitting when I began and would plow through sweaters. Honestly, I've knit twice this number! It seems like I am finding fewer hours in the day but maybe it's because it's summertime and there are many distractions. Be sure to tag us on IG so we can follow along!!
You both are so talented. I love the friendship you have together. Ohhh... I want to learn to knit. I was taught when I was in fourth grade, but I didn't keep it up !! 🤦🏼♀️I want to learn to make socks!🙃
Hi Tammy. Thank you! I didn't really start knitting until I was in my 50s. Kim has been knitting for decades. It's never too late! Socks are very doable. Choose a DK pattern for your first pair. A baby sweater is a nice first project. Something from Tincan Knits. Lots of tutorials on YT! Good luck.
Hi Karen. Are you on Instagram? I have lots of pics there. Our IGs are always in the Show Notes. Also, if you can use Ravelry, here's a pic of the wedding one. www.ravelry.com/projects/Knitmatician/ranunculus-6 I didn't want Kim to have to do too much editing, so I decided not to include pics. Thanks!
Your channel popped up on my home feed today. I have to tell you I decided to tune in because your hair is so gorgeous! However, I loved your content so I am going to stick around. Thank you for sharing your lovely works of art.
I must commend you on your pronunciation of all the designs, designers names and yarns used. and all from memory! It is interesting to see the color choices of the yarns in your stash cabinet behind you. It is fun to hear that RUclips has helped you in your knitting life, as it has as for many of us. Where are the minisodes kept? Thanks for everything.
I loved this episode. It was very inspiring to see how your skills have evolved in only about four years. 😊 it gives me motivation to keep learning new skills.
First time watching you, really enjoyed you reviewing all of your sweaters. I really appreciate the details you shared, exactly the questions I would ask! I will be looking up your older podcasts for sure, thank you!
Yes, I too want to knit the Tulip Guernsey. I am a process knitter and this sweater seems to have just enough challenge to keep it interesting. I have knit 5 Ranunculus and keep tweaking it to make it just right.
I keep trying to find something that I like better than the Tulip Guernsey, but I can't! I think the yarn I have in mind will be perfect. I could just make another Ranunculus, but part of me wants a little challenge!
Jonna, you have such a beautiful sweater collection! I will be putting a few of them on my ever growing list of garments to knit. A fantastic podcast! It’s always fun to see what others knit.
Nice change to have one of you at a time. It’s good to get a different pace from the fun bantering between the 2 of you. Very entertaining Jonna. Happy vacay Kim! Janice from Montreal area 🇨🇦
You were purling eastern! I learned eastern (mount) knitting and purling from my Slovak aunties when I was about age 8. Totally a legit way to knit and probably predates western knitting. I taught myself western mount bc I got tired of translating lace patterns. But, I often still purl eastern and then knit through the back loop--much faster and I get a tighter purl that's way faster--just a flick of the wrist instead of tiring out the index finger of my left hand LOL. This is called "combination knitting" in a lot of books on the subject as you may already know.
I am learning more and more! Thank you so much. I think I could only implement this on plain stockinette, right now. I recently used combination knitting on some ribbing and it worked great. I talk more about it in Ep. 10 which airs on 9/2/22.
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna so glad to hear! Thanks!! It's funny too that bc I'm such a knitting nerd and for so long, I thought I really, really understood everything. However, when I (laboriously kicking and screaming LOL!) made myself learn western, I proved myself wrong on that. Learning a new knitting style really did strengthen all my knitting techniques. Want to try Portuguese some day ha!
I was struck by your comment about feeling grief when you had to leave your grad program. I had a career change a few years ago and it was harder than I thought it would be from an emotional standpoint. Even though I'm in a fairly good place with it now, I still have days when it really feels like grief to have (mostly) left behind something I loved and was passionate about but just wasn't working with my personal life. Hugs to you.
Thank you so much. I do still think about my unfinished masters degree. That said, being able to spend time with my dad brings me joy. It's often a "choose your hard" sort of thing, right?! At the time I filmed this video, I had just (two days prior) lost my beloved dog, Henry, to cancer/kidney failure. It was a Herculean effort to film. We are all going through "stuff". Thank you for sharing....I love that we are all connected in this human experience. 💕
You are so inspiring, Jonna! I am still a scaredy-cat knitter. Blankets and washcloths are my speed so far! One of these days I’ll venture into sweaters! 🌸
Nicely done podcast. I too like the Old Norwegian Cast on. I do it in honor of my “Old Norwegian “ who is 75 and likes to watch his police shows while I knit😅🇳🇴
OK, so now I am going to think of your "old Norwegian" every time I cast on!! So sweet. Speaking of old Norwegians, my Dad is NOT Norwegian (british, french, german) but I came across a nearly new Sedestal sweater in a resale shop and bought it for him. Well, I bought it for myself, but it's huge. Anyway, he wears it proudly! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for showing all your beautiful sweaters and cardigans. So inspiring. I can’t keep up with all the sweaters that i want to make because i am now knitting for my grandchild due in December. I love knitting! 😊
Your Koivua has inspired me to want to make it. You could easily fix the missed bases of the crosses by duplicate stitching now. I think your idea to overdye is great if you don't like the contrast. It is soooo beautiful! Thank you for sharing your collection.
Thank you! Yes, I can duplicate stitch it for sure. I almost don't mind though because it's part of my journey, right? I'm told I shouldn't use RIT dye (lol)! I do have some acid dye from Dharma Trading Co. Still on the fence!
Well done, Jonna, lovely episode! Really interesting to learn about your knitting journey through your sweaters. I've been looking for a fantastic cardigan pattern and I really love your version of the April cardigan! So it's going on my knit list. ☺
Love, love, love your Koivua! So gorgeous. I have yarn to knit it and just keep not getting to it. I've got to make that one. Currently working on a Salty Air T. Yours is gorgeous!
A great episode, even though Kim was not there. Thank you for sharing your beautiful sweaters. You have inspired me. I am finishing a linen tan top, fingers crossed this weekend, and then I plan to finish a linen Ranunculus as sort of my last nod to summer. Having made the cardigan version of Felix, you inspired me to make a pullover. Hoping that both of you enjoy the remains of summer, and I am looking forward to the next episode. Cheers, Dee
Thank you. My Felix sweater just fits so well. It's like a sweatshirt for me and goes with everything!! I may have gone on a lettlopi binge after knitting it. LOL
Again Jonna, your work is beautiful. This was one of the best and informative podcasts I have seen. Perhaps because I like your style. Thanks so much for taking the time to do it.
Wow, thank you! As a fan of many a podcaster, this means so much! I love learning and am grateful to all the podcasters out there who educate and entertain me. There's SO much to learn about knitting. (and, if I'm honest, about oneself as a maker, right?)
I really enjoy your podcasts and it was so interesting to see your sweaters today. Loved your choices and colors. Thank you for taking the time to do this!
Only four years! As a novice knitter I have learned so much from you. Your love for the craft certainly comes across. I can listen to you talk about your projects all day. Thank you Jonna😊
Happy to see I’m not the only one who has accumulated a double pile of sweaters! The possibilities are endless.
Aren't they? As my friend, Claudia, reminds me, "Jonna, you can't knit ALL the sweaters."
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna Lord knows I’m trying! 🤣
Jonna, don't overdye the sweater - it's gorgeous! Even if you only wear it to knitting events, it would be worth it. And you can duplicate stitch over the little mistake on the yoke if you have any of the yarn left.
I agree... another option is to sell it! Yup.. come up with a price and offer it on your channel!
I agree - over stitch- Do not dye please🦊💕
Me too xx it’s too beautiful to overdye xxxx
Agree don’t dye ! Gift it if you are not comfortable wearing it. Just georgous!
haha! I agree as well! That's one of my favorites!!!

Nice change to have one of you at a time. It’s good to get a different pace from the fun bantering between the 2 of you. Very entertaining Jonna. Happy vacay Kim! Janice from Montreal area 🇨🇦
Thank you. We hadn't thought of that!
I loved the episode, thanks Jonna
Your sweaters are stunning!!
Thank you!
Excellent job! Well done!
Thank you very much!
I love your sweaters, you have a great talent for picking beautiful colors, your hair so pretty and I loved the linen skirt thanks for sharing that!
Thank you so much!!
Jonna your episode is wonderful!!! Love seeing all your sweaters Definitely inspiring me to get busy. Thank you so much!
I hear you!! My DD really needs some attention. I'm busy looking at fabric for a pair of Pietra pants to go with it!

Great sweater choices. Beautiful work!
Great job!
The great thing about knitting, is that you can always start over! I've started some projects 10 times!!
Such beautiful sweaters, and fun to see your journey! Just an FYI, it is Loo-nenburg, a beautiful seaside Nova Scotia town! 😍
Oh thank you! I had no idea!! I see the signs for it when I visit my brother up north.
Great show Jonna!
Well done Jonna. I loved your sweater parade. I soooo understand your being a ‘process knitter’ because I am too. 😀🧶
Thank you! I find knitting so interesting. Why do projects stall? Is this about my wardrobe or my craft? I could discuss these subjects for hours. LOL
I hear you! Christmas is looming large in my mind right now. I have SO many gifts that I want to knit. Quilts to make, etc!!
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna I agree, if you like it there as your journey, then it is perfect. ❤
This was a great episode! I learned so much - I"m on my 3rd sweater and the mods that you share are very helpful!
I'm so glad!
I loved seeing your sweaters because I keep fence sitting on picking yarn, and wouldvlike to do a Ranunculus.
I feel like you can't go wrong with any yarn you choose for that sweater. Just adjust your needle size!
Well done, Jonna, lovely episode! Really interesting to learn about your knitting journey through your sweaters. I've been looking for a fantastic cardigan pattern and I really love your version of the April cardigan! So it's going on my knit list. ☺
Thank you! You will absolutely love the cardigan! Can't wait to wear it.
Love, love, love your Koivua! So gorgeous. I have yarn to knit it and just keep not getting to it. I've got to make that one. Currently working on a Salty Air T. Yours is gorgeous!
Thank you! It is a such a fun knit. Enjoy your Salty Air Tee! Can't make just one, lol.
LOL
The Yarnery is in St Paul MN and I am going there this weekend!
So fun!! Love the brands they carry! I can't imagine seeing all that Holst Garn Supersoft in one place. Have fun!!
Lovely sweater collection, congratulations on knitting so many beautiful sweaters as a “newish” knitter. Great episode as always
Thank you, Kasia.
Thank you Jonna . I actually went to your Ravelry page and got the information I needed..along with more ideas for future projects. Thank you again.
I really enjoy your podcasts and it was so interesting to see your sweaters today. Loved your choices and colors. Thank you for taking the time to do this!
Thanks, Janet!
Jonna you did a great show by yourself. I love seeing all the sweaters.
Great job! So many great makes
