Check out our videos from Joel Daniels: ruclips.net/video/ZBZV1ko_j44/видео.html Got 9 videos in there, and it's one of our goals to get more content for black guys this year.
My beard is currently 3" long below my chin(s) representing about 5-6 months of growth. It was about two inches longer than this last December before my big trim, and represented the longest that I have grown it. So 10 months is about as far as I got. I don't think it would have looked much different with an extra two months or one inch as a yeard, but SO CLOSE.
The way I usually rank by length is this: STUBBLE--- Five O' Clock Shadow (after maybe one day without shaving), Designer Stubble (after maybe 2 days without shaving) Scruff (in between stubble and beard) BEARD------- short beard (what you have right now), medium beard (what your blog calls 'power beard'), and long beard (yeard, tweard, terminal beard, etc) I think the Verdi can be any length, same with natural beard, but corporate beard would be short.
I’m currently going for round 2 on my beard. First time around I think I made it about 6 months growing out and couldn’t figure out why my beard looked so weird so I shaved the cheeks and just rocked the goat with the short scruffy sides then I ended up just going back to the scruff beard. After discovering beard brands videos I learned that I had been trimming my beard up to my jaw line as I did with the shorter style beard and that’s why my beard looked so weird so after finding beard brands videos I’m currently going for round 2 on my beard and have committed to the yeard. I’m growing for the years to see how full my beard can be before trimming it to where I would like it. Ideally I like greggs 5-6” beard but I’m 25 with German/Czech bloodline so I have a few minor patchy areas I’d like to fill. Plus I’d like to be able to say I achieved the yeard.
My favorite is definitely the terminal beard. I am almost at 4 years of growing and 20 inches or more in length. It has slowed down a good bit but still growing. My beard got better with time and length. Thanks for the video!
I've been growing my beard for 5-6 years, I've trimmed a few inches of here and there. Currently it's 10 inches or more. Your definitely correct on the difficulties when it comes to a long beard and I've even thought about cutting it off because of it, but then I think about the time I've put into it. I'm not sure if it would help the growth or not but I don't put anything in my beard, all I do is wash it weekly and brush it daily.
I’m terminal! going on year 5. It’s only been trimmed 3 times ever. I trim my neck and mustache on a fairly regular basis, but my beard does it’s own thing.
As for the end question, at least a tweard is my goal - maybe a terminal one in the future. However, I trimmed my beard down to a one guard yesterday and I’m going for the beardstache. After the stache plays catch-up, I’ll pursues the tweard or more 😉 my strong belief is that you need a strong mustache to have a strong beard, and Eric totally rocks that.
Greg Thomas Love hearing it thank you, I’ve attempted it a few times but I get antsy and I do a trim and I screw it all up, so this time I’m putting the clippers away.
Loving the yeard journey the second time round, going to grow it for at least another year now . Shaved the first one off at 16 months . Was happy to see my face and happy to grow it back.
The terminal beard is definitely the goal. As you mentioned, the shedding does get out of hand at times, but well worth it :-))) Cheers brother. Catch ya on here tomorrow
Corporate beard is my favorite for my face shape and suits me well. I have tried a longer beard (4 inches) and looking back on it I prefer me with a shorter beard but some length on the chin
I tend more towards Corporate - I ref B-ball - Most often I have a handlebar - often a walrus. I've been thinking about the yeard. Just life often gets in the way. When I quit being a ref.
and, after some experimenting after butchering my long beard last year, I'm growing back out to a Ducktail, love the look and it fits my face shape too. Temple Smoke beard oil rules!
The last 6 years I have been working in food service so I haven't been able to grow a beard, a vandike is the best I could do. But I'm in the process of quitting so I'm planning on doing a yeard but I like the look of the verdi.
Right now I’m in about 3 months grow, self trimming to get it under control and somewhere over a corporate on my way to a Verdi. My goal is for a clean Well trimmed but a bit shorter than Greg’s. Up to now I’ve been using basic hair products. Really need to get some of your products to keep it under control from now on
Hello Eric. With the warmer weather, and my hair shorter, I am sporting the scruff bear; grooming slightly only the neck area daily. It works really well with shorter hair and still able to pull it off at work.
I believe im currently in the terminal phase. Been growing it for about three years. It’s down to about nipple length now and doesn’t seem to want to get any longer
You know Eric, when I first saw that you'd shaved off your massive beard I thought "what the hell have you done you actual lunatic" but the short beard and big stache is a really sick look for you. As for the question of full beards, I think any well-kept beard that plays to the grower's strengths is worth respecting. For example, I don't think I've got the moustache strength to pull off a verdi, so I won't make the moustache the focal point of my beard. But some people I know just don't have the coverage for a full beard but persist with wispy, un-groomed neckbeards or moustaches that are about 6 hairs on either corner of their upper lip.. Like mate, just have a chinstrap or a goatee or smash eggs on your face and headbutt a hay bale or *BLASPHEMY INCOMING* shave it and try again in a year or two. Basically know your strengths and weaknesses and work with them. But that said I am a newbie beardsman so I may be talking out of my bumhole.
I'm around the area of a natural beard. Regarding professionalism, I work in a multi-million dollar retail environment, and have interacted with countless executives. The only comments made have been about my quality of work. I have been awarded greatly in the past and this year. Macy's used images of me for their holiday hiring campaign last year. I was the bald headed guy with a long beard and an ascot, while holding gift boxes.
I'm rocking the Tweard. I'm going for the terminal beard. One thing I've learned just after a year, is that a beard will shed a lot more than you expect it to. Split ends become a problem after a year as well. I just bite or or scissor them off maybe an inch from the tip, sometimes further up.
I'm currently at 5 1/2 months without trimming and measure almost six inches from lower lip to bottom of beard. This is my first attempt at a big beard as I have always had either just a mustache, or stache and short goatee. I'm going first for a yeard, but my ultimate goal is to find out where my terminal length is. I'm married and 63, so I pretty much dont care what people think, except my wife, and she's fine with it.
@@Beardbrand I've gotta figure out how to style it with a thin mustache... I have a pretty decent growth where my beard grows but I don't think I've ever shaved my mustache and it's always been the same.. sucks I wanted to do the handlebar look
Great video Eric! I would love to grow a yeard someday. Probably when I retire! My current beard is 4.5 months now and I haven’t trimmed it yet. Waiting for work to say something 😀 Beard on!
7 months in on a yeard but my favorite would be a beard stache or a shorter full beard with a stache that is at least 6 months to a year of growth. I'd prefer this style my self once reaching my yeard considering some of the small patches on my cheeks are fill in. My told me he was 40 before he was patch free.
I'm currently at about 2 1/2 years of growing, and probably getting close to the terminal beard, if not there now. The shedding and breakage does make for extra care, but its controllable to a point.
I wish I could have a very short corporate beard length but I got few patches on one side and my facial hair is too sparse to make it looking good. For now it looks fine with 1 inch length.
The Yeard has been my favorite. If not for the job I took on, would've kept it, maybe went a little longer in time. Now it's mainly a scruff w/a goatee, or just the goatee. Sometimes kick it up to the corporate. May try like a Hollywood style with no sideburns just for fun and curiosity. Keep on with the videos!
I thought you went corporate beard Eric! A more trimmed CEO! Haha Anyways, for myself, I have taken quite a few tips from Greg's style and I'm more of a Verdi right now.
My closest to a Tweard was 18 months for New Year's Eve Dec 2015 all the way to June 2017. I've felt accomplished I made it that far. As of yesterday I've had my current one for 9 months. Thinking about starting over again so friends would know what I look like beardless.
I like the terminal, I knew my father could grow a thick full bread and what I have had in the past I have the genes for it hehe. So approx 1y 4m ago I started (tip of it around mid chest/nipple). Trimming, not much, pretty natural, thick and its grey down from side burns and then dark on the sides and grey on the chin down. No desire to cut it, I don't even feel thats its there. hoping it goes down to my waist...
I have a balboa beard kindy like Leonardo DiCaprio beard where there is no side burns, a disconnect between the stache which is a handlebar and the beard with a long soul patch
I'm currently 4 months into a yeard, but after I see what it looks like, I'm planning on doing something similar to a scruffy goat. I want a handlebar mustache and thick goatee and then fade the beard gradually up my cheeks to a stubble. I think it could look badass!
So I believe that a top beard style should be called the "Mahesh special" ... That man has a killer one. I'm working on mine and call it the above-mentioned!!! Peace guys
Eric, I wish you would have talked about the beardstash! I know you mentioned the executive but the beardstash just adds that little devil-may-care to your face. in my opinion the beardstash is perfect if you don't have a strong chin but quite a square jaw. I also find that having that tighter taper underneath really helps the beard to stand out and makes it look fuller even though it's still short. It looks great on stockier guys or bodybuilder types (any of the bad guys from John Wick II). Personally I'll have the neckline really neat but keep the cheeks natural. A little more rugged than executive but still neat enough in the office and definitely outdoorsy (frontiersman) . Great video as always!
This video is part of a 4 part series where we talk about Full Beards, Partial Beards, Mustaches, and Hybrid Beards. I talk more about the beardstache in the hybrid beard video. Just gotta stay posted ;).
I like the natural beard, a bit wild looking. I started with the yeard but after 16 months it just got too long, to much looking after it. And it got a bit messy when going out for dinner ect. I keep it around 6 or 7 inch. I like that length on me....
+beardbrand, if I could I would rock the corporate beard since I currently have a circle beard. However, my hair grows slow and is curly being that I'm African American. Keep up the good work
I’ve been saving my beard for around 17 weeks now, I have only been trimming my mustache under my over lip since a lot of hairs got into my mouth all the time, so do you consider I ruined the yeard? Like always awesome video Eric. And Jack, can’t wait for the progress video tomorrow👍
Eric you gotta grow the big ass beard again man. You're the leader of BEARDbrand. I bought your products because I believe you are passionate about maintaining a big beard. I wouldn't buy shampoo from a guy who's bald. I know you like to change up your style but you got a lot of guys out there including me who idolized you because you were rocking the big beard.
Yup, I am the leader of Beardbrand, and it's "Beardbrand" and not "Big Beardbrand" for a reason. We celebrate beards of all lengths - from scruff to terminal. You can be just as passionate for a short beard as a big, long beard. And I know because I've done both. ;) Thanks for the feedback and keep on growing! :D
I kind of agree that for a yeard you can snip some stray hairs just a bit as you grow. Like I’ve done (twice). I’m currently thinking of going for a tweard. My beard is now a year and 3 and a half months. It is an interesting and fun experience tho’.
Daki Savic rocks an epic beard, doesn't he? That'd be a great style to go for; it really falls into a natural beard category but Daki puts his own spin on it with that giant mustache. - Jack
My favorite beard style would have to be a well maintained 2 to 3 month beard. I like it to be well maintained but at the same time have a natural look, my barber has deemed it the classic sailor beard. I've pretty well had all of the styles including the beardstache which I have now and I'm really liking the big mustache look. Longest I've grown mine for is 3 years and I was never sure if I was at terminal length or not. Awesome video as always Beardbrand
I plan on going for the year beard too but not the yeard more like Ragnar Lothbrok beard style. Long chin but the sides trimmed short until the chin is longer then I let the sides get some length but nice looking no weird hairs and tamed throughout. I like beards but not beards that look like a savage beard.
I jus started my yeard today I wanna go old school little to no trim for a solid yr btw I’m also using rogaine on my beard 🧔 hopefully it works. New to the beard community too.
Outstanding! Thank you. I'm holding to a natural beard about 4.5 inches which covers my neckline. I've gone longer; for me Terminal was just a little longer than a Yeard, but I prefer the density I have with a shorter beard.
What would you recommend for a man with a very strong length and thickness, all natural, but a fairly weak mustache? I am genetically blessed with very straight cheek lines, however, I don't believe I could ever develop a 'tache as thick and beautiful as yours, Eric.
Which full beard style is your favorite? Let us know in the comments!

I just stopped looking in the mirror, I call it the “surprise” beard 😂

I'll have a yeard in 5 days. I think I might go for another year and see how it looks.
Been a year... did you for the tweard?
Can't rock it because of my afro beard, but I have always respected the verdi. Greg is keeping it 💯 with that style. A true passionate beardsman.

I like the 2 year beard, well groomed with nice lines.
Im pushing a tweard, and aiming for terminal. It’s been a blast. It has never been itchy or in the way.
This is one of the only videos of this nature that actually compares apples to apples!

WOAH that beard grew instantly during the outro

Thanks for the feedback and keep on growing! :D
Always prefer a long beard 💪🏻
Excellent choice, man!

I kind of agree that for a yeard you can snip some stray hairs just a bit as you grow. Like I’ve done (twice). I’m currently thinking of going for a tweard. My beard is now a year and 3 and a half months. It is an interesting and fun experience tho’.
I have Bandholz mustache envy...
I think we all do a little

The Verdi is what I'm striving for.
Awesome choice, that's Greg's style of choice!
- Jack
Mine is the yeard !!
Yeard for sure
Great list. Nothing missed.
Glad you liked it! We've actually got 3 more videos like this coming soon!
- Jack
In my opinion the Verdi looks the nicest.
I’m past the Twerd and going for the Terminal so thats my beard of choice. Thanks for all the content
Dang! That's gotta be one massive beard you're currently rocking! That's awesome, man!
- Jack
what to grow if not symmetrical? One of my cheeks "beards" much higher than the other.. Guess I gotta do a corporate?
Eric that haircut suits you very well !
Thanks my friend! :D
I have yet to go for the yeard so that is something I'll definitely be going probably next year when I hit 20 years old
I’ve been leaning towards a beard style like Daki Savic has. Exaggerated mustache size in comparison to a full beard in front with neat & tidy sides
Daki Savic rocks an epic beard, doesn't he? That'd be a great style to go for; it really falls into a natural beard category but Daki puts his own spin on it with that giant mustache.
- Jack
A natural style beard is what I want if I could have it tomorrow
I'm working on my yeard I'm 7 weeks In
Awesome vid! Show pictures of people rocking the beards on another video.
dat warrior beard like Gimmli from LORD OF THE RINGS. ; P
My favourite is the 1 millisecond beard
@@gaminglegend then that means your a wo-man...
@@mattlewis9725 no it just means you're a dude who's grown a beard 1 hour after shaving
Rockin a yeard bro!
Outstanding! Thank you. I'm holding to a natural beard about 4.5 inches which covers my neckline. I've gone longer; for me Terminal was just a little longer than a Yeard, but I prefer the density I have with a shorter beard.
Based on your profile picture, your beard is looking fantastic!
- Jack
After about 18 months, mine is 8 inchs fully stretched from my chin. I only trim the sides.
It grows slooooow....
Almost on the yeard homies!
Is he the same guy who does reviews on the verge?
What would you recommend for a man with a very strong length and thickness, all natural, but a fairly weak mustache? I am genetically blessed with very straight cheek lines, however, I don't believe I could ever develop a 'tache as thick and beautiful as yours, Eric.
