See I agree to an extent because movies adapted to video games can really be hit or miss. Iron man punisher and even the Godfather were actually good games
I love how the main charecter is inserted into these super famous scenes, but in the background like behind a corner or something. Really helps tie it into the movie without being too over the top or silly. WIth the exception of the Micheal mission where ya getting him out of NY quietly (ie, shooting up half of Brooklyn in a massive car chase that's directed by Micheal Bay).
Have y’all played part 2? I bought a key for it last week to replay and finished the game in less than 12 hrs. Brought back hella memories but the way it ends is so bland besides the airport shootout.
I always liked making my own hit squad in Godfather 2, as much as that game wasn't reviewed in the greatest spotlight, I spent most of my time customizing and planning my gang of mobsters for every mission. I love Godfather 2 just because of its team making mechanics, plus it had uncensored titties and my 9 year old brain got blown away from it
Loved this game as a kid. Sounds really weird but when I made my character my mum was like “who’s that? He looks nice”. My mother fancied a video game character 🥴
As an Italian, I can safely say that I talk for everyone when I say that I forgive you for your crimes, especially if I’m going to see a lot of purple stuff in 2023
Its incredible to see you guys finally cover this game. Its truly one of the best licensed games of all time. I'm the worlds biggest Godfather Game fan. I know about everything about its development, own assets and found TONS of footage no one has seen before. Such an honor to watch this video.
Of all the GTA clones and shitty movie adaptations, the god father holds a special place in my heart. I genuinely hope this reaches Fred Durst somehow.
The building your own family concept was beautiful. If they implement a shadow of modor enemy system where if they kill certain rankings in your family or enough people, they’ll start gaining respect/influence. Which in turn will give them “currency” to spend getting better gear, foot soldiers, etc. There could even be minor gangs that you hire to cause havoc/do street work. Keep it simple & basically polish up from Godfather 2. Add simple yet immersive mechanics/content. Instead of trying to be super innovative/groundbreaking with adding unnecessary features/content. Focus on the writing/story board. That’s where most of the money (without skimping on the development) should be spent. Vetting the writers alone should months in months. Someone’s gotta keep up the “games are better than movies” stigma.
Funny how game publishers make such trash games nowadays but they wont even bring this masterpiece to xbox series s & x and they wont bring it to ps4 and ps5 because they lame. I want The Warriors and Godfather 2 also on xbox series s but ofcourse its impossible only boring games on the store nowadays I really dont care about Cod Black ops 6 or gta 5 boring a## games
Even though the hand-to-hand combat controls are gimmicky, they still are some of the most satisfying 3rd person shooter combat controls - period. Same to how the game does lock-on with aiming.
Yeah it was the first game I think I ever played that allowed you to cover up against walls and shoot. Also the first open world game that let you fully customize your character, besides a tony hawk game.
I had this game for the Wii. It was so awesome holding the remote and nunchuk to intimidate people and throw them around lmao. Absolutely loves this game!
I have such lovely memories of my dad playing this and then letting me play on our XBOX...i got a bit psychotic throwing people off bridges and out of windows and blowing up churches...but fond memories nonetheless! I want to play it again in memory of my dad since he passed away awhile ago!
Facts. It had a lot going for it. Was the first game I ever played that was kinda like GTA. If I ever find another copy of this game, I will play it none stop
I really loved playing this game, I got really into taking over the businesses throughout the map, I'd recruit a guy and just start shooting up the place, good times, I even had the PSP version which wasn't as good as this but still fun to play.
Yeah man my only knowledge of the actual movies was from trailers for the films! Ah the game was so fun to play i remember me driving head first into each families stronghold or becoming extremely wanted by the police going on intense police chase
Pre-watch comment: I really love the melee combat in this game, i hear a lot of people complain about it and how you just wiggle and mash the stick to spam punches, i think this is one of those games that benefits greatly from playing it slower and more methodically. You can make the punching and grappling so visceral and cool if you let the hits feel heavy and slow.
I would like to see a prequel to the first game focussing on us playing as Johnny Trapani. He looked like a cool character, kind of like Tommy Angelo from Mafia. There also was an unexplained reason why Don Barzini killed him in the beginning of the game which set the tone of Aldo's revenge plot. Don Barzini was calculated and wouldn't just kill someone for no reason, let alone a mobster without importance. I feel they should explore this more. Kind of like they explored and innovated backstory and lore in The Warriors game which was way better than the movie. Unfortunately highly unlikely with the license not with EA anymore.

It may be old, but I miss this game. In terms of immersion into it's game world and mood, nothing could touch it back in the day. I absolutely loved making a version of "myself" in-game that got to experience life as a member of the Corleone family. Ah, the memories.
Bought this game last month on the PS2, have been playing it. Man it's probably one of favorites, the graphics don't bother me. I really enjoy the controls, gameplay, and story.
