Your dedication to the garden and preserving the harvest is so inspiring. What a joy to see the next generation taking this on. I’m sorry if I’ve said this before but I’m so encouraged when I see all you accomplish. There are a few of the younger generation that I watch and it makes my heart happy to watch each one, sometimes for different reasons but each a blessing to me in so many ways. Thank you for sharing your garden with us.
Instead of busting out the electric vacuum sealer for one jar, I bought a kit with a lid like you have but it has a little hand held vacuum pump. I leave the lid part and little pump in a drawer, use what I need out of a jar and reseal it in a couple seconds. I think I paid about $15 for it on Amazon and have had it, and used it often, for years. I’m all about quick and easy.
I love the aesthetic and vibes you have in your videos. They give me a sense of comfort in this hectic and chaotic life. Especially love these long form videos. Please continue making these!
Thank you again for bringing us the feel of fall! I look forward to summer content with you but when fall begins you have become part of our life! We love to watch and listen as you bring in the start of the holiday season! Thank you Bre!
I did my garlic the same way last year and saved some of the chunky freeze dried garlic and mixed it with course salt. Then put it in a pepper or salt grinder for garlic salt, and It turned out so good.
I have inheirated about 300+ canning jars. Alot of quarts as well as a whole lot of pints. My mother in law used the quarts for tomatoes. She canned mostley in pints and then smaller ones for jams, jellies, and pickles
Coming down from my first year of gardening more then a few potted plants and I'm excited to get out in the garden with my father in law and plant some garlic this fall. (I share my father in laws garden as we live in a small apartment). Watching for garlic preservation ideas to help my mother in law with her garlic from last year.
First year with a garden and let me tell ya jeesh I’m tired this is so much work!! But I love it! We’ve been super humid in Ottawa county so it’s been rough! I came here to say, you should definitely be saving all your skins from onions and such for natural fabric dye you always have so much I figured it would be fun to try!
I did it one time, but definitely should again!! And the more you garden the easier it becomes! Those first few years and I was WIPED and I only had a few garden beds! Takes some time to learn the rhythms. It can definitely still be exhausting during peak but a lot easier to not feel the overwhelm that comes with it!
Foodsaver....For all powdered products, put a cupcake liner, paper towel etc on top of product. Otherwise the machine will suck product into motor and burn it out.
I’m going to can beans, and for me, it’s the equivalent to having “fast food” - they are ready to eat and it makes putting a meal together more quickly. Also, home-canned is usually tastier as you can adjust the seasonings to your preferences. I hope that helps.
Do you have any videos on describing consession sowing and more details? I'm planning first garden for next year. I found my first and last frost date and have 202 days. ❤
Dumb question but, if but if you're going to freeze dry garlic for garlic powder would it be faster to freeze dry and process the garlic if you give it a quick smash with the palm of your hand?
Hey, Bre, I’m just curious about something. I don’t have a freeze dryer but it is a goal. When I process garlic I make broth with the skins that did not come into contact with the ground. I make ice cubes with it and add that to whatever I am cooking. What I’m wondering is, if the broth is very concentrated, would one be able to freeze dry the garlic (or onion) broth then pulverize it into powder?
When I was weaving the ends on my 2022 temp blanket, I got stupid and said if I tied these I could cut them and I wouldn't have to weave 365 rows. OMG Don't do that. I am repairing where it is unraveling. lol/So it is finished but the border. and I have found 2 more places I need to repair.
Same! I got to the end of June and I knew that there was no chance I’d be able to work on it in July/august. I feel super behind during this time of year last year but now that falls is around the corner I’ll be spending some time catching up!
@@itsbreellis You will. With the love and tenderness of care displayed all over your beautiful backdrop, you will get there. Thank you for inspiring this singer writer minister dancer 💃🏼 and now garden lover. God bless you and your family.🙏🙋🏻♀️🥑🍓🍃🌱🍠🍮❤️🥕🥔
hey bre! do you ever find that garlic or onions make your freeze dryer smell? I have heard mixed reviews and don't want to make mine permanently smell of garlic
I’ve never had a issue. Once it’s done defrosting keep the door open for the next 24 hours or so and you shouldn’t have any issues! At least I havnt and I’ve done multiple rounds of both!
You have done chicken, and you are nervous about doing G beans? Gurl, the beans are really easy! Yes the outside is best for pressure canning cause not going to.heat up your kitchen!
@@ninjapiratess I live in Puerto Rico, and unfortunately it get extremely hot, its still on the 100F and its September plus hurricane and tropical storm season. Everything gets broiled or taken out by extreme wind
Could you tell us what size the canner is. It would be helpful to us that are planning to buy an All American canner. We don’t want to buy one that won’t fit between our stove and the fan. Thank you❤

Can't wait to see some of your fall projects with yarn. Love you, your content and your personality! Thank you!

Im so glad the temperature blanket is coming back! I was so sad when I couldnt find anything about it for 2024.
I’ve done a handful of videos over the year but definitely not as many as I did last year! Don’t worry you will be seeing videos soon!!
That’s a beautiful
Kitchen
I really love this! You should write a book!
Thank you so much!!
I love seeing what you do with your harvests! ❤
Thank you!! ❤️
Have you ever tried roasting the garlic before freezedrying it for powder? Gives it a much more umami flavour. Same with onion powder!
I’m two months behind on my temperature blanket. Maybe when it gets cold out I might be able to get back to it! Thanks for your RUclips! Debbie A
This was absolutely amazing. Keep up the hard but gratifying work!!❤
Thank you so much!!

Put your garlic gloves in the microwave for 15 to 20 seconds... And the skins slide right off 👍 Save you alot of time
I’ll give that a try! Thanks for sharing!
Bre, do you have a PO box? I wanted to send you a garlic peeler to help speed up your projects. ❤
Love the content! Can you explain the benefit of canning versus storing dry beans? Thanks!

That makes sense. Thanks!
Can save some money and then you also don’t have to remember to soak anything ahead of time!
Thank you!

Is there a different way to peel garlic? You cut the top and peel. How else would you do it? 😀
Dumb question but, if but if you're going to freeze dry garlic for garlic powder would it be faster to freeze dry and process the garlic if you give it a quick smash with the palm of your hand?
If you soak the garlic cloves in hot water for 5 min the skins just fall off and it takes no time to do a lot of garlic
I’ll have to give that a try! Thanks for sharing!!
What brand vacuum sealer do you have? Can you provide a link?

100% I’ve done it with chicken broth before and made my own “bouillon” powder!
What Sunflowers do you grow?

Hey Bre... what kind of stove is that? I've been considering getting one just like that for canning purposes 😊 Love your videos!
It’s a camp stove from camp chef! I got it off amazon years ago! It’s great! I have it linked in the description box! ❤️

My dream is, to be able to grow onions and garlic.... im in a zone 13B
Extreme hot + hurricane and storms = impossible
13B! I have never heard of that zone, I take it you aren't in the States?

I like quarts for meat.
there no logical reason but i am so scared of pressure cookers lol
I was totally scared when I started!! I’ve gotten so many rounds under my belt now that it seems so easy!!
