Hey there, friends! Today’s video is super special - I’m inviting you into the heart of Little Mountain Ranch to show you what a year's worth of food looks like for us. From our pantry shelves to the root cellar and from our grow room to the freeze-dryer space, you’ll get to see it all!
We'll share our canning and store-bought pantries, and you’ll peek into our root cellar, where the cool earth keeps our produce fresh for months. The root cellar was what sold me on this property eight years ago. I’ll take you through the grow room where our plants start their journey - it’s like springtime in there no matter the season outside. We'll also be sharing the newest addition since last year's tour, which has really upped our preservation game and that's our freeze dryer room.
Don't forget to hit subscribe and that little bell so you won’t miss out on our future adventures and some cool courses I’ve got in the works about all things growing, preserving and pantry cooking.
Grab your favourite mug of something warm, settle in, and I hope you enjoy coming along with us!
Thanks for watching!

Hi friends, we (Dan will be here, too) can't wait to chat with you all at 5pm PST. ❤
FYI: I don't know if you've seen it yet, but there is a slight misspelled accident on your video announcement you posted ~30 minutes ago 😅 Here's hoping this reply notifies you 🤞
@@brittanykirkham9035 Thank you so much. I got a good chuckle out of that!
I make green tomato minchmeat my family loves it but I dont
those bay leaves will help keep bugs away also. ik you said you dont have a problem, but just a known for you I put them crumbles up in lil sashes in my pantry.
Unfortunately not every Cat is actually a 'Mouser'. For that you need to 'deliberately' SHOP for one just like you shop for 'Livestock' animals: Dogs, Geese & Donkeys.
Hi, I just discovered you today. Reminds me of my great grandma Hulda, 1/2 of her basement was a giant pantry, she was always making something. Others made fun of her saying we could live for 3 yrs on her pantry food. She would remind them that during the depression yrs she always had food because she always prepared for a rainy day & she never stopped doing it. She lived to be 95. We were so lucky to grow up eating food without chemicals & additives. So much more healthier. I try to do the same thing in each season but on a much smaller scale in my 1/4 acre backyard. My house in Tx was built in 1986. We don't have a basement so I use my linen closet & front hall closet as pantries. My husband & grown sons tell people that I'm like a squirrel storing food, but when covid hit. & stores ran out of food, we had plenty. Thankyou great grandma Hulda for teaching me well. So happy to see young people like yourselves trying to live healthy. It's a lot of hard work but it keeps you out of trouble & saves a lot of money. God Bless you both
After following the year through your content, what I can only imagine to be the thousands of hours, spent by you and your family producing that bounty, and the emotional roller coaster that gardening and family life always is. Words are lacking in their ability to describe what an accomplishment those pantries are. Your “Pantry Tour” video was just the perfect counterpoint.
Food security is incredibly under rated. Nothing like a stocked pantry to make you feel good.
100%
If I had that pantry, I would have a nice comfy chair, a glass of wine and some soothing music playing. I would just sit back and enjoy the view and reflect on the past summer, and dream about the delicious meals coming soon. ❤
I know it's not up yet, but Dan has been very busy that looks amazing. That man works so hard Chelsea and him make a great team, and doesn't Chelsea look so pretty and happy in that picture.
I agree, with all parts of your comment
I have had a tough week, I knew watching Chelsea tonight would bring back my peace. THANK YOU CHELSEA AND DAN!! So lovely!
Hugs.
I've had a hard couple of weeks, too. Watching Chelsea does bring some joy and calm to my life.
Wow! Your food pantries are a work of art. You put so much time an energy into growing, harvesting, canning, freeze drying. It's a work of art.
The two of you must be so proud of each other 💞. This pantry tour is sure the culmination of a beautiful example of team work. And, it speaks volumes for what can be accomplished with desire, heart, passion & amazing work ethics. What a thing of beauty. We are blessed beyond measure that you take us along on your exemplary life’s journey.
We do 1200+ jars per year, plus 1000 bags of freeze dried food (we also have freeze dried pet food for 2000 meals each for 4 dogs) that we did with our freeze drier. We also have food grade 5 gallon buckets filled with grains, rice, raw honey, sugar, oats, flour, pasta, barley. We also have sweet potatoes, russet potatoes, pumpkins, butternut squash, acorn squash and blue Hubbard squash. We have increased the garden size for next grow season, which will increase our quart jars and our freeze dried mylar bags.
Inspiring!
Seeing the Apple Butter reminds me of a traditional Appalachian cake-Apple Stack Cake. It’s very thin layers of cake with rehydrated apple with cinnamon between the layers and finished by covering the entire cake with a creamy apple butter. Let sit for 24 hours in the fridge to moisten and mingle the flavors. A beautiful and tasty cake from the mountains.
This will officially mark one year that I’ve been watching your channel. Last year’s pantry tour was the first video of yours that I watched. My alarm is set for tomorrow.
Thanks so much for sticking with us!❤
I did pickled red beets one year and told friends how beautiful they were, just like jewels. They looked at me askance, but if I had told you that, you would have agreed! YAY!!!
This is such a lovely collaboration of Dans' fine carpentry skills and Chelseas' love of gardening and preserving!
Wow! I told my husband I don't feel so bad now about turning one of the upstairs bedrooms into a pantry 😊 I do believe he thought I had lost my mind two years ago when I asked if I could. It's been a blessing to us and other family and friends and my granddaughters call it granny's Walmart 😂
Granny's Walmart!!!!💯👍👍👍
alright now!!!!🎉🎉🎉
Your pantry is a cook and foodies dream! All the gorgeous colors, it just looks amazing. You and Dan are such a great team. When you talked about the bay leaves, I laughed out loud!! I did the same thing!! I will not have to buy bay leaves again in my life. Thanks for sharing your hard work with us. You are such a hardworking family. Now, go make some tea, put your feet up and enjoy winter!!
What a beautiful pantry you have created! One of my favorite things about you and your channel is the beauty you find in food and simple things. The natural beauty of the colors and the textures and the joy of seeing your creations! Very nice job on your food preservation! Awesome to see!
Oh my stars! What a bounty is displayed in your pantry! Thousands of hours of planting, replanting, harvesting, cleaning, cooking, and canning❣️ Y'all can be rightfully proud of the year's work you have stored❣️❣️ Amazing! Great work, you two!!
Thanks for the tour of your art gallery!!! I always think those gorgeous jars are works of art. I view mine and anyone else's that way. Just gorgeous and I've loved watching your videos on organic gardening and canning. I do both, but on a MUCH smaller scale. I just discovered you this summer and am totally addicted. I also love hearing that accent occasionally. Thanks for sharing this part of your life with us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chelsea where are you - are you on vacation? Hoping to see some of you soon.
Thank You Dan & Chelsea for sharing your beautiful food storage with us all. Have a safe and healthy winter! 🙂
It's very wise to have multiple varieties of food stored, like you have.
If the canned food fails, you have your dehydrated, if the dehide fails you have store bought, if store bought fails and so forth. Good planning.
It is so beautiful! I'm new to the channel so this is my first pantry tour video.
I am a sour cherry person too
😂 I accidentally ordered more bay leaves than I can use in my lifetime too. I had heard that insects don't like the smell. We had an issue with pantry moths years ago & I never wanted to deal with that again.
Isn’t that a pain to deal with pantry moths? I have had them at least twice an di now keep traps up all the time.
Do you keep a journal of what works and what not to do again, comments about flavor, texture, etc. Same for garden; what was planted where, did it grow well. I admire your work ethic. You’re both “go-getters”!
This is a beautiful thing!!! No, really, it’s gorgeous!!! Who says a pantry can’t be functional AND beautiful. I’ve seen a lot of pantry videos and this one is right up there! So awesome!
Beautiful!! ❤ Pantry Goals! Try storing your root cellar veggies in clasp closing totes filled/layered with Sand. Mimics being in the dirt. Potatoes and carrots do wonderful like that for us. Keeps rodents away from them
Can't wait! Chelsea, you look so pretty in this picture. I sure have learned a lot from you! Thank you for sharing your time with us.
Thank you so much!!
You and Dan are so talented and very hard working. Your pantry is so beautiful…tidy and well organized. That pantry along with your wonderful cooking will surely feed your family very well in the coming year. Thanks for sharing…a very enjoyable video to watch. One question: Do you teach your children the skills that you and Dan have with building and canning and do they help you? That would be invaluable to them. Could you give a tour of your freezer(s)?
Hello from South Eastern Kentucky ! I just adore you both ! And I so want to thank Rachel from "That 1870's Homestead " ( so adore her & Todd too ! ) for saying that LMR was her dream homestead location ! 😀❤
Been watching for couple of years watching every episode same day.
Your family must have such good gut health and all around a healthy lifestyle too.
Hi from Alberta, luv your energy and scratch cooking. I made your apple oatmeal with caramel Wed morning. Yummy 🤤 I’ll be watching this seasons pantry tour shortly. I am late to the party. I was processing beets this afternoon. After dinner I told my husband, I can’t wait to watch Chelsea’s pantry tour. He just chuckled at me 🥰
I look forward to this video every year as it's how I found your channel.
Don't care what time it is im waiting up for it but i don't sleep that well so in that way im lucky i can't wait to see everything we've watched all the hard work the family has put in to it now come their results.
❤😊
Fantastic! I can’t imagine needing four quarts of sauce for one dinner…and then that quantity of food 365! Your family is so lucky you do all of this with so much love and interest! I CAN imagine the feeling of contentment having so much healthy food on hand while living in your cold and snowy Canada.
Sending Love, Peace and Joy to you, Dan and your large crew. Your videos are charming, entertaining and insightful. They make me smile and I'm a better gardener from your advice. Thank you for all you do... ~ Namaste ~ from Red Deer 🍅🥕🥔🏵🌷🐝🐞🕉☮
Your food storage gives me peace. Lol you are so well prepared. It's amazing to see the fruit of all your labor. Thank you for sharing.
Imagine here I am all the way from Uganda East Africa, twiddling my thumbs... saying... what's taking this so longggggg.... can't wait can't wait... (oops I thought it was supposed to be 5pm EST)
😁 love that! See you there.
God Bless Uganda!
See you in the chats, it will be 8:00 p.m. here on the northern east coast of the US.
Watching now... super excited...taking notes... this is truly a dream pantry... you are so blessed and a very lovely and hardworking family and couple. God bless you indeed
Great to see your videos!
I use our green tomato mincemeat in mincemeat squares. They are made similar to date squares but use mincemeat in the middle. Any mincemeat will work but we really like green tomato this way. A beautiful pantry! Thanks for the tour.😊
Chelsea, dear...your methods for growing, preserving & storing food are all an inspiration to me in my prepping endeavors. I love it that your husband recycled old wood to build all of those beautiful shelves. Thank you so much for sharing...and, HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you and your family! 🥰
I'm so excited!! Can't wait!
What an achievement you have done. Your hard work from start to finish is amazing and your family is blessed. Love the shelves that Dan made for you. Thank you for sharing.

You are living my dream. Love it!
what an incredible pantry !
Love seeing another northerner! Thank you for realistically sharing that your family eats 4 quarts of tomatoes per meal. Pantries have a way of looking full until you realize how quickly we go through them!
Love love loved this!
Everything is beautiful!! Now to enjoy the fruits of your labor!
Looking forward to seeing it!😊

Amazing job to you both!
I remember years ago typing in root cellar on RUclips and your video was the first to pop up. You had just moved to that property and you said the root cellar was a major reason you wanted that particular property. I’ve been watching you ever since & just love your videos. Y’all have a beautiful pantry. ☺️❤
Beautiful pantry filled with love. Thanks for sharing.
