  • Possibly the worst job forecasting the weather I've ever seen. Called for sun in Squamish and we got rain and cloud cover. The wind still managed to kick up but it was light and gusty and I only had my 4m wing so it was bad.
Headed to Alice Lake after to test the dock:
    - small area to pump in (okay if no swimmers are there)
    - nice floating overhang that makes for easy handling with large span wings but it has bolts that stick out the bottom that will destroy your foil if it's not deep enough in the water
    - both docks are quite high up, still doable but more challenging than Vanier
    - the wood deck is old and very slippery
    - the floating dock is constantly rotating every time you throw
Most of the session was on the PNG 910b and I found that the required turning was a challenge. The 910b takes a lot of energy to pump and that means turning is much harder because you fall below the power output during the turn then can't recover. I gave the Spitfire 1180 a few tries at the end and it was fantastic. I paired it with the 460v2 tail and that made it more stable as well as having the overhanging dock to make mounting much easier. The 1180 has enough glide and low enough power requirements to make turning pretty easy.

Your perseverance is inspiring! As a newbie kite boarder I get a lot from your posts.
